"en": "yngas conversion to higher alcohols (HAS) is a promising way of converting coal or biomass into liquid fuels. However, the high cost, low activity, and selectivity of C2+OH hinder the commercialization of this process. Herein, we investigate the stability and selectivity of low-cost Cu/Co carbon wood (CW) catalysts. We noticed that the nucleation of Cu/Co nanoparticles was influenced by different water–1,2-propylene glycol ratios in the solution, where two sizes of nanoparticles were observed. The optimal catalyst displayed a high CO conversion of 74.8% and selectivity of 58.7% for C2+OH, which is mainly linear primary alcohol. Besides the best-performing catalyst was tested under industrial conditions, where high stability and selectivity were maintained for up to 350 h. In addition, selectivity was analyzed using Density functional theory (DFT) insights to identify the binding strength of CO, which can further react to form CH3OH. As well as the route of CHx and CO coupling which eventually produces C2H5OH. High performance with a computational understanding of the Cu/Co-carbon wood catalyst will open new possibilities for developing selective materials toward the production of higher alcohols."

"en": "This dataset contains all the measurement data related to the publication titled: Recovery of Gold as Nanoparticles From Gold-Poor Au-Cu-Cl Solutions (2023). The publication introduces the EAR method (electrochemically assisted aqueous reduction): an electrochemical potential pulsing method, where during the time between potential pulses a spontaneous redox reaction contributes to the gold recovery. This occurs through reduction of aqueous gold by aqueous Cu(I) chloride complexes, which are generated via the potential pulse from Cu(II) complexes. This dataset contains: Cyclic voltammetry data of Au-Cl and Cu-Cl solutions EQCM data of gold recovery with the EAR method Characterization of gold particles recovered onto glassy carbon electrodes (SEM, EDS) Measurement details can be read in included readme files. Briefly, EQCM data (electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance) data includes the measured electrochemical data in one file (time, potential, current) and the measured QCM data (time, frequency and dissipation change) in another file. Particle deposition folders may contain electrochemical data of deposition, SEM images of surface, CV measurements used for determining electrochemical surface area, images processed for particle size measurement with ImageJ and EDS data depending on the sample."

"en": "Abstract Background The optimal nutritional treatment for gestational diabetes (GDM) is still a matter of debate. With increasing rates of GDM and potential negative consequences for the health of mother and child, the best treatment should be established. The Nordic diet with emphasis on plant-based protein show promising health outcomes in other populations but has yet to be investigated in GDM population. The aim of this study, which is part of the “Effect of plant-based Nordic diet versus carbohydrate-restricted diet on glucose levels in gestational diabetes” (eMOM) pilot study was to compare the short-term effects of healthy Nordic diet (HND) and the currently recommended moderate restriction of carbohydrates diet (MCRD) on glucose and lipid metabolism in women with GDM. Methods This was a randomized crossover where each of the diet interventions (HND and MCRD) were consumed for 3 days with a 3-day wash-out period in between. In total, 42 pregnant women diagnosed with GDM (< 29 + 0 gestational week) were randomized. Glucose data was collected by continuous glucose monitors (CGM, Freestyle Libre®, Abbott, USA) worn for 14 days, and participants gave blood samples before and after diet interventions. The primary outcome was time spent in glucose target range (TIR, < 7.8 mmol/L). TIR, 3-day mean tissue glucose as well as changes in fasting glucose, homeostatic model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and blood lipids were analyzed with paired samples statistical analyses. Results Thirty-six women with complete 14 days CGM data were analyzed. Both diet interventions produced a high degree of TIR (99% SD 1.8), without a difference between the diets (p = 0.727). The 3-day mean glucose was significantly lower in HND than in MCRD (p = 0,049). Fasting insulin (p = 0,034), insulin resistance (p = 0,030), total and LDL cholesterol (p = 0,023 and 0,008) reduced more in the MCRD diet than the HND. NS differences in any other measure of CGM or blood tests. Conclusions HND and MCRD did not differ in terms of their short-term effect on TIR. A larger study with sufficient power is needed to confirm the differences in short-term mean glucose, insulin resistance and lipid metabolism. "en": "Neuronal oscillations and their synchronization between brain areas are fundamental for healthy brain function. Yet, synchronization levels exhibit large inter-individual variability that is associated with behavioral variability. We test whether individual synchronization levels are predicted by individual brain states along an extended regime of critical-like dynamics – the Griffiths phase (GP). We use computational modelling to assess how synchronization is dependent on brain criticality indexed by long-range temporal correlations (LRTCs). We analyze LRTCs and synchronization of oscillations from resting-state magnetoencephalography and stereo-electroencephalography data. Synchronization and LRTCs are both positively linearly and quadratically correlated among healthy subjects, while in epileptogenic areas they are negatively linearly correlated. These results show that variability in synchronization levels is explained by the individual position along the GP with healthy brain areas operating in its subcritical and epileptogenic areas in its supercritical side. We suggest that the GP is fundamental for brain function allowing individual variability while retaining functional advantages of criticality."

"en": "This dataset contains material volumes (m3), material masses (kg), and material intensities (kg/m2) for representative buildings from 45 residential building cohorts in Finland. These data are presented per material and in total, aggregated on three hierarchical levels on the correspondingly named sheets in the OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS) file: the entire building (data_building), distinguished between vertical building levels (data_building_level), and distinguished between building parts (data_building part). Further details on the data are provided on the description sheet in the same file. The cohorts are based on building type, main frame material, main façade material, and construction decade. Each cohort is represented by one inventoried building, covering the combinations in the tables below. All buildings are located in the city of Vantaa, Finland, with the exception of the 1940s and 1950s houses, which are based on type-planned houses and thus have no specific location. One dwelling house cohorts included in the dataset Frame material, Facade material 1940s 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s 2010s Wood, Wood D D D T D D D D Wood, Brick T T D T T T T Brick, Brick D D D* D D D Concrete, Concrete D T D D D D Concrete, Brick T D T T T T Block of flats cohorts included in the dataset Frame material, Facade material 1940s 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s 2010s Concrete, Concrete D D D D D D Concrete, Brick T T T T T T D = Direct record based on construction documents. T = Theoretical variant with alternative façade material based on typical contemporary construction practice. All properties except the cladding and any related materials (e.g. battens) are identical with the corresponding direct record. * Geometry determined based on construction documents from 1979 due to lack of suitably sized cases dated in the 1980s. Insulation thicknesses adjusted to match the represented decade’s building code. The data are primarily based on digitized construction documents obtained from the Vantaa building inspection authority’s archives through the purchase portal Lupapiste Kauppa (https://kauppa.lupapiste.fi/) The 1940s and 1950s type-planned houses’ drawings are from the National Archives of Finland."

The data contains both toy data generated using a software emulation of a reel-to-reel tape recorder, as well as real data collected from a physical device. The various subsets can be used for training, validating, and testing neural network behavior, similarly as was done in the research article.\r\n\r\n# Toy and Real Data\r\n\r\nThe toy data was generated using CHOWTape, a physically modeled reel-to-reel tape recorder (https://github.com/jatinchowdhury18/AnalogTapeModel/) The subsets generated with the software emulation are denoted with the string `CHOWTAPE`. Two variants of the toy data was produced: in the first variant, the fluctuating delay produced by the simulated tape transport was disabled, and in the second kind, the delay was enabled. The latter variants are denoted with the string `WOWFLUTTER`.\r\n\r\nThe real data is collected using an Akai 4000D reel-to-reel tape recorder. The corresponding subsets are denoted with the string `AKAI`. Two tape speeds were used during the recording: 3 3/4 IPS (inches per second) and 7 1/2 IPS, with the corresponding subsets denoted with '3.75IPS' and '7.5IPS' respectively. On top of this, two different brands of magnetic tape were used for capturing the datasets with different tape speeds: Maxell and Scotch, with the corresponding subsets denoted with 'MAXELL' and 'SCOTCH' respectively.\r\n\r\n# Directories\r\n\r\nFor training the models, a fraction of the inputs from SignalTrain LA2A Dataset was used (https://zenodo.org/record/3824876) The training, validation, and testing can be replicated using the subsets:\r\n- ReelToReel_Dataset_MiniPulse100_AKAI_*/ (hysteretic nonlinearity, real data)\r\n- ReelToReel_Dataset_Mini192kHzPulse100_AKAI_*/ (delay generator, real data)\r\n- Silence_AKAI_*/ (noise generator, real data)\r\n- ReelToReel_Dataset_MiniPulse100_CHOWTAPE*/ (hysteretic nonlinearity, toy data)\r\n- ReelToReel_Dataset_MiniPulse100_CHOWTAPE_F[0.6]_SL[60]_TRAJECTORIES/ (delay generator, toy data)\r\n\r\nFor visualizing the model behavior, the following subsets can be used:\r\n- LogSweepsContinuousPulse100_*/ (nonlinear magnitude responses)\r\n- SinesFadedShortContinuousPulse100*/ (magnetic hysteresis curves)\r\n\r\n# Directory structure\r\n\r\nEach directory/subset is made of up of further subdirectories that are most often used to separate the training, validation and test sets from each other. In some of the cases, a third file named `trajectory_x_.npy` can be found, which consists of the corresponding pre-extracted delay trajectory in the `NumPy` binary file format."

DOI: 10.1002/ece3.10197.\r\n\r\nThe dataset consists of biconical reflectance factors of nine Sphagnum moss species collected from southern Finland. The samples were collected in May 2022, and the nadir-view reflectance factors were measured in a dark laboratory using an ASD FieldSpec 4 spectroradiometer (serial number 18641). The spectral range of measurements was 350-2500 nm, and spectral resolution was 3 nm at 700 nm and 10 nm at 1400 and 2100 nm. During the measurement, the sample was illuminated with a 12 V 50 W Quartz Tungsten Halogen lamp, with an illumination angle of 40º. The spectra of nine species are reported, with 10 samples for each species. The size of each sample was 21,7 * 21,5 cm, and they were measured four times: as fresh (0h, within four to six hours after initial collection), after one day (24h), after two days (48h) and after one week (1w) of the sample collection. Between the spectral measurements, the samples were stored in open containers in a semi-dark room with no direct sunlight and standard temperature (average 20.5 ºC) and air humidity (average 29 %). Example photographs of the fresh sampled species can be found from the file Data_description.pdf.\r\n\r\nThe spectra are reported in two versions: as raw data (“_raw”) and as smoothed with Savitzky-Golay filter with 25 nm window (”_smoothed”). The first three rows in the data contain information for citing and reading the data. After that, the first column indicates the species and ID number of the sample, as well as the time of measurement (0h, 24h, 48h or 1w). The second column indicates simply the species of the sample, the third column indicates the within-species sample ID, the fourth column indicates the time of measurement and the fifth indicates the location of the sampling site (peatland name_municipality). The subsequent columns (wl350-wl2500) indicate the measured reflectance value at that wavelength.
