Luokitus korvaa aiemmin käytössä olleet kaupunki-maaseutu-luokituksen ja maaseudun kolmijaon. Luokitus on muodostettu valtakunnalliseen karttaesitykseen soveltuvalla yleistystasolla, jossa eri alueluokat erottuvat selkeinä kokonaisuuksia koko maata kuvaavan kartan mittakaavassa. "fi": "Luokitus on toteutettu paikkatietomenetelmin käyttäen lähtötietona tarkkoihin sijaintitietoihin perustuvia koko maan kattavia aineistoja. Laskenta on tehty pääosin 250 x 250 metrin ruudukossa, joka on myös luokituksen resoluutio kartalla. Luokituksen lähtöaineistona on käytetty väestö-, työvoima-, työmatka- ja rakennustietoja sekä DIGIROAD-tieverkkoaineistoa ja CORINE-maankäyttöaineistoa. Näiden perusteella on laskettu määrää, tiheyttä, tehokkuutta, saavutettavuutta, intensiteettiä, monipuolisuutta ja suuntautuneisuutta kuvaavia muuttujia, joiden avulla alueet on luokiteltu seitsemään luokkaan. Muiden paikkatietoaineistojen sisältämä tieto voidaan sijainnin perusteella yhdistää kaupunki-maaseutu-luokituksen seitsemään luokkaan. Samoin tieto voidaan liittää ominaisuustiedoksi muihin paikkatietoaineistoihin. Ensisijaisesti kaupunki-maaseutu-luokitus kuvaa alueiden välisiä eroja aluerakenteen tasolla. Luokitus ei kuvaa niinkään yksittäisen paikan ominaisuuksia vaan luonnehtii aluekokonaisuuksia. Alueluokkien rajat on yleistetty siten, että luokitus toimii parhaiten laajempien alueiden tarkasteluissa. Paikkatietoperusteisen alueluokittelun ovat tehneet Suomen ympäristökeskus ja Oulun yliopiston maantieteen laitos yhteistyössä työ- ja elinkeinoministeriön, maa- ja metsätalousministeriön ja Tilastokeskuksen kanssa."

"fi": "Valtakunnallisessa yhdyskuntarakenteen seurannassa (YKR) kaupunkiseutu muodostuu suurimpien kaupunkikeskusten keskustaajamasta, siihen fyysisesti ja toiminnallisesti tiiviisti liittyvistä lähitaajamista sekä näitä ympäröivästä lievealueesta, joka on haja-asutusaluetta. Kaikkiaan Suomessa kaupunkiseutuja on 34, joista kolme on kaksoiskaupunkeja. Keskustaajamia ovat sellaiset taajamat, joissa väestömäärä on yli 15 000 ja taajama ei ole kaupunkiseudun lähitaajama. Kaksoiskaupungit muodostuvat sellaisista keskustaajamista, joiden reunat ovat alle viiden kilometrin päässä toisistaan ja jotka ovat väestömäärältään samaa kokoluokkaa.\nLähitaajama kuuluu kaupunkiseutuun aina siinä tapauksessa jos etäisyys keskustaajaman reunaan on enintään kolme kilometriä. Lähitaajama kuuluu kaupunkiseutuun myös siinä tapauksessa, jos se on yli kolmen kilometrin päässä keskustaajamasta, mutta sen työllisistä yli 20 % käy töissä keskustaajamassa ja lähitaajaman ja keskustaajaman välillä on yhtenäinen alue, jossa talotiheys yhden kilometrin säteellä on yli 45 ja lähitaajaman reuna on alle 40 kilometrin päässä keskustaajaman toiminnallisesta keskipisteestä. Lähitaajaman ja keskustaajaman välillä on oltava myös suora tieyhteys ja kaupunkiseudun on muodostettava lievealueineen yhtenäinen kokonaisuus.\n\nLähitaajama voi kuulua ainoastaan yhteen kaupunkiseutuun ja ollessaan kriteereiltään osa useampaa kuin yhtä kaupunkiseutu, taajama katsotaan kuuluvaksi suurempaan kaupunkiseutuun.\nLievealue on kaupunkiseuduille muodostuva yhtenäinen alue, joka ulottuu viiden kilometrin päähän keskustaajaman ulkoreunasta ja kolmen kilometrin päähän kaupunkiseudun lähitaajaman ulkoreunasta. Lievealueeseen eivät kuulu vesistöt, Suomen rajojen ulkopuoliset alueet, eivätkä kaupunkiseutujen ulkopuoliset taajama-alueet. Aineisto kuuluu SYKEn avoimiin aineistoihin (CC BY 4.0)."

"en": "HARES is a collection of audio-recorded interviews that were gathered in England in the 1970s and 1980s. The fieldworkers were Finnish graduate and post-graduate students from the University of Helsinki, who shared a common interest in the study of dialect syntax. The informants were elderly persons who had lived in the region all their lives and who had left school at an early age. HARES combines the digital audio files with orthographic transcriptions and XML-annotated metadata.\n\nlog\n25.11.2018 link http://islrn.org/resources/951-451-122-050-2 removed\n\nThe Cambridgeshire sampler contains 20 interviews recorded in 15 villages. The interviewees are 'typical' HARES informants, in that they are elderly (the youngest is in his 60s and the oldest in his late 90s), non-mobile (the informants have been born and bred in the area, with little or no time spent away), minimally educated (having left school at an early age) and rural (with professions such as horsekeeper, farmer and housewife). The sampler represents a 'modern' trend in dialectological surveys, because some of the interviews have women as primary informants."

"en": "Fenno-ugrica is the National Library of Finland’s digital collection of Finno-Ugric publications. The Fenno-ugrica collection includes monograph publications in Ingrian, Veps, Mari (Hill Mari and Meadow Mari) and Mordvinic (Erzya and Moksha) languages and newspapers in Mari and Mordvinic languages from the 1920s and the 1930s. All in all, the collection consists of more than 120 monographs and nearly 20,000 pages of newspapers.\n\nThe material of Fenno-ugrica has been produced by the National Library of Finland in the Digitisation Project of Kindred Languages, which is a part of Language Programme of Kone Foundation. The material Fenno-ugrica collection belongs to the collections of the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg), where the publications have been digitised. The digitised content of this collection is published based on the research on copyrights, which was conducted by Moscow-based copyright organization, National Library Resource.\n\nWithin the Digitisation Project of Kindred Languages, the National Library of Finland has developed an open source code OCR editor that enables the editing of machine-encoded text for the benefit of linguistic research. Permissions for the editing of the material of Fenno-ugrica will be granted mainly for the researchers of Fenno-Ugric languages and the permissions will be administrated by the Digitisation Project of Kindred Languages.\n\nChange Log:\n26.2.2019: Name changed from \"Fenno-ugrica\" to \"Fenno-Ugrica\"",

The letters have been selected to be as socially representative of the literate social ranks of the time as possible. "fi": "Vaarallisia aineita voi joutua maantiekuljetusten yhteydessä ympäristöön esimerkiksi\nsäiliöauton ulosajossa. Myös rautateillä säiliövaunun suistuminen raiteelta on\nmahdollista. Tällöin aineiden kulkeutuminen onnettomuuspaikan läheisyydessä riippuu\nmerkittävästi ympäristön ominaisuuksista, kuten maaperän läpäisykyvystä,\npohjaveden syvyystasosta maanpintaan nähden, maanpinnan viettosuunnista ja\njyrkkyydestä sekä pintavesiuomien ja vesistöjen läheisyydestä. Liikennealueiden\nriskiluokituksessa kartoitetaan näitä maaston ominaisuuksia liikenneväylien välittömässä\nläheisyydessä.\n\nRiskiluokitus koostuu neljästä pääluokasta, joilla kullakin on edelleen kolme alaluokkaa.\nAlla on lyhyt kuvaus kunkin luokan edustamista olosuhteista ja likaantumisriskien\nkohdistumisesta ympäristössä. \n\nKäytetyt maaperäluokat A, B ja C määräytyvät alueen maalajin ja topografian mukaan.\nRiskiluokkaan A kuuluvat sora- ja hiekka-alueet, joiden ominaisuuksia ovat\nhyvä läpäisevyys ja heikko nesteiden pidättyvyys. Harjujen ja reunamuodostumien\nkarkeat osat kuuluvat tähän luokkaan. Pohjaveden likaantumisriski on erityisesti\nAI-luokassa suuri.\n\nAIII-luokka edustaa pohjavesimuodostumien yhteysalueita, joilta voi tapahtua joko\npohja- tai pintaveden virtausta pohjavesimuodostumaan. Esimerkiksi pohjavesialueisiin\nrajoittuvat kalliomäet voidaan luokitella AIII-luokkaan kuuluviksi.\n\nRaekooltaan hienohiekkaiset maat kuuluvat B-luokkaan. Tässä luokassa läpäisevyys\non kohtalainen, ja maalajit pystyvät jonkin verran pidättämään nesteitä.\nEsimerkkialueita ovat pohjavesialueiden reuna-alueet ja hiekkaiset moreenit. Likaantumisriski\nkohdistuu pohjaveteen kuten A-luokassakin.\n\nA- ja B-alueilla I- ja II-luokan erottaa toisistaan pohjaveden pinnankorkeus. Jos\npohjavesi on alle kuuden metrin syvyydellä maanpinnasta, alue kuuluu AI-luokkaan.\nAlueet, joilla pohjavesi on syvemmällä kuin kuusi metriä, kuuluvat AII-luokkaan.\nTämä kuuteen metriin perustuva jako johtuu pohjaveden likaantumisen\nrajoittamiseksi käytettävän torjuntakaluston laadusta (matala- tai syvätekniikka).\n\nBIII-alueet ovat viettomaita, joten niihin kuuluu moreenialueiden lisäksi kalliomaita.\nBIII-alueilla maahan valuva neste kulkeutuu todennäköisesti vieton suuntaan ja\nlikaantumisriski voi tällöin kohdistua esimerkiksi viettosuunnassa virtaavaan avovesiuomaan,\npintavesistöön tai vedenottamoon.\n\nC-luokka on heikosti läpäisevien ja tiiviiden maiden luokka. Tähän kuuluvat myös\nturvemaat sekä keinotekoiset pohjat. CI-luokkaan kuuluvat yleensä pohjavesialueiden\nläheiset savimaat, joiden alla voi olla vettä johtavia kerroksia. CII-luokka on\nyleinen erityisesti taajama- ja moottoritiealueilla, sillä se sisältää keinotekoiset pohjat\n(liittymät, autoliikennealueet) ja loivasti viettävät tai tasaiset savi-, siltti- ja hienorakeiset\nmoreenimaat. C-luokka edustaa ympäristön likaantumisen kannalta verrattain\nvähäriskisiä alueita; suurin riskitekijä on pohjaveden mahdollinen likaantuminen\nCI-alueilla.\n\nW-luokka poikkeaa muista pääluokista. Siihen kuuluvilla alueilla likaantumisriski\nkohdistuu pääasiassa pintavesiin. W-luokassa ympäristölle haitallisten aineiden\nkulkeutuminen voi olla hyvinkin nopeaa; haitta-aineet voivat joutua joko suoraan\nvesistöön tai päätyä sinne avouomassa virtaavan veden mukana. WII-luokka edustaa\n”paljastunutta” pohjavettä, sillä tähän luokkaan kuuluvat erityisesti harjujen laskuojattomat\npohjavesilammet.\n\nRiskiluokituksessa pyritään antamaan kullekin tieosuudelle vain yksi riskiluokka.\nJoissain tapauksissa on kuitenkin perusteltua esittää samalla tieosuudella kaksi rinnakkaista\nluokkaa. Esimerkkitapauksia ovat mm. pohjavesialueet, joilla esiintyy\navouomassa virtaavaa vettä. Olosuhteista riippuen likaantumisriski voi kohdistua\njoko pohjaveteen, pintaveteen tai molempiin. Jos maaperän läpäisykyky on esimerkiksi\nroudan tai hyvin suuren nestemäärän johdosta pienentynyt, pintaveden likaantuminen\nvoi olla merkittävämpi riskitekijä kuin pohjaveden likaantuminen. "fi": "Vektoriaineisto liittyy ympäristöministeriön, Suomen ympäristökeskuksen ja Geologian tutkimuskeskuksen Arvokkaiden tuuli- ja rantakerrostumien inventointi (TUURA) -yhteishankkeen loppuraporttiin (Mäkinen ym. 2011). Hankkeen tarkoituksena on ollut luoda kattava kuva Suomen tuuli- ja rantakerrostumista ja tuottaa niistä yhtenäinen ympäristöperusteinen luokitusaineisto ennen muuta maa-aineslain (MAL 555/1981) edellyttämän lupaharkinnan ja muun maankäytön suunnittelun tarpeita varten. Tuuli- ja rantakerrostumat on tässä tutkimuksessa arvotettu niiden geologisten, biologisten ja maisemallisten ominaisuuksien perusteella. \n\nArvotustyö on suoritettu Ahvenanmaata ja rannikon tietöntä saaristoa lukuun ottamatta koko maasta. Maastossa suoritetun arvotuksen perusteella katsottiin 417 muodostuman olevan valtakunnallisesti arvokkaita. Valtakunnalliset arvokkaat tuuli- ja rantakerrostumat jakautuvat arvoluokkiin seuraavasti: valtakunnallisesti erittäin arvokkaita (arvoluokka 1) muodostumia 20 kpl, valtakunnallisesti hyvin arvokkaita (arvoluokka 2) 45 kpl, valtakunnallisesti arvokkaita (arvoluokka 3) 129 kpl ja valtakunnallisesti merkittäviä (arvoluokka 4) 223 kpl. Valtakunnallisesti arvokkaiden tuuli- ja rantakerrostumien kokonaispinta-ala on 69 942 hehtaaria. Arvotettuja kohteita on kautta koko maan, mutta ne keskittyvät selvästi Kainuuseen, Pohjois-Pohjanmaan pohjoisosaan, Lounais-Lappiin ja rannikolle. \n\nTutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hyödyntää maa-ainesoton lupaharkinnan ja maankäytön suunnittelun lisäksi myös mm. ympäristönsuojelussa sekä opetustoiminnassa. Tulokset luovat pohjaa myös geologisen ja biologisen monimuotoisuuden arvioimiselle. Tutkimus ei ole suojeluohjelma eikä tutkimuksella ole suoraan lakiin perustuvia oikeudellisia vaikutuksia.\n\nValtakunnallisesti arvokkaat tuuli- ja rantakerrostumat -julkaisu on painettu Suomen ympäristö -sarjassa. Tutkimusaineiston laajuudesta johtuen yksittäisten muodostumien kohdekuvaukset ja karttatulosteet esitetään loppuraportin liitteenä olevalla DVD-levyllä.\n\nViite: Mäkinen, K., Teeriaho, J.
