"en": "Daily timeseries for stable water isotopes (18O) in rainfall and snowfall (precipitation). \n\nThe dataset is based on precipitation sampling at the Pallas research catchment. This data introduces gap filling for days where a sample for the stable water isotopes is not available. The gaps are filled based on linear regression models, which relate stable water isotope composition in precipitation 18O samples with air temperature and atmospheric water vapor 18O composition recorded at the site at hourly resolution.\n\nThe dataset for daily precipitation sampling is described and available: to ADD DATASET and DOI\n\nThe dataset for atmospheric water vapor 18O composition is described and available: to ADD DATASET and DOI\n\nThe dataset for air temperature used in the analysis is provided by the Finnish Meteorologial Institute, Kenttärova station (ID 101987), available: https://www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/havaintojen-lataus.\n\n\nDetailed description of how 18O for days without a precipitation sample were estimated:\n\nThe daily precipitation samples were distributed to hourly values based on the collection period. The most typical collection period was 24 hours between 8am - 8am local time. Some samples were accumulated over longer times. \n\nHourly timeseries of vapor 18O and air temperature were used as the explanatory variables for linear regression models. The hourly values for vapor 18O and precipitation were averaged over the 24 hours when the precipitation 18O was sampled to match the timing of the variability in the explanatory variables, and the sampled precipitation event. The events used in the regression model are labeled \"EVENT\" in the datafile. The precipitation samples accumulated over longer that 24 hour periods were not used in the regression, and were labeled \"COMPOSITE\". The days that did not have any samples, were labelled \"MISSING\".\n\nThe daily O18 value was assigned with the following priority:\n(i) if there was a precipitation sample for the day, the sample 18O value was used. Applies to days labelled both \"EVENT\" and \"COMPOSITE\"\n(ii) if a precipitation sample was missing, the 18O value was estimated based on linear regression of vapor 18O or air temperature. For the days with vapor 18O data was available, vapor data and model was used."

It is based on the Kriging interpolation of daily maximum wind gust speeds observed by the weather station network (around 150 stations) of Finnish Meteorological Institute. "fi": "Tärkeimpiä kaupallisia kalastusalueita kuvaava aineisto koostuu kahdesta tasosta. Verkkoalueet-tasolle on koottu I-luokan kaupallisten kalastajien ilmoittamat verkkokalastusalueet yhdeksi polygoniksi, johon on yhdistetty useita pienempiä alueita. Rysäpyydys-tasolla on ilmoitettujen kiinteiden pyydysten paikat pisteinä. Aineisto ei sisällä troolipyyntialueita. Kalastajien identifiointitiedot on poistettu aineistosta.\n\nAineistoa tarkasteltaessa on huomioitava, että pyyntipaikat eivät ole staattisia vaan ne käytännössä vaihtelevat sen mukaan mitä kalaa on pyydettävissä. Tällä hetkellä käyttämättömät paikat voivat olla jatkossa tärkeitä ja käytössä olevia paikkoja voi poistua pyynnistä jatkossa.\n\nAineistoa on kerätty kalastajahaastatteluilla I-luokan kaupallisilta kalastajilta vuosien 2010–2018 aikana seuraavasti:\n\nSaaristo- ja selkämeri 2010-2014 Merenkurkku 2014 Pohjanlahti ja Perämeri 2016-2018 Suomenlahden aineisto on saatu Uudenmaan ja Kaakkois-Suomen ELY-keskuksilta 2012.\n\nHaastatteluissa kalastajat ovat yhdessä haastattelijoiden kanssa piirtäneet pyydyspaikat kartoille. Näiltä kartoilta verkkokalastusalueet ja kiinteiden pyydysten paikat on digitoitu paikkatietokantaan Lukessa.\n\nAineistosta puuttuu II- ja III-luokan kaupallisten kalastajien pyyntipaikat, mutta aineisto kattaa pääosan I-luokan kalastajien pyyntipaikoista. Kaupallisten kalastajien luokitus muuttui vuoden 2017 alusta siten, että pääosa I-luokan kalastajia kuuluu nykyisin 1 ryhmään (tulot yli 10 000 €/v) ja muut 2 ryhmään.\n\nAineistolähteet: Luke, ELY-keskukset ja Österbottens Fiskarförbund."

"en": "Baltic grey seal censuses are carried out during the annual molting season in May-June. The main haul-out locations are surveyed two or three times during the census period and number of seals are counted from aerial images. Annual regional population size estimate is based on survey day with the maximum numbers of the seals observed. The gained result is, however, the minimum population size estimate, because proportion of the seals is not visible on land; even during the best census conditions. The number and distribution of the population are represented during the spring time molting season, but during the other time of the year, numbers and distribution in sea areas may be different from that.\n\nThe size of Baltic grey seal population during the spring time molting season in Finnish waters are shown in this map with ICES grid-resolution (50 km x 50 km). The known molting islands are shown with red circles. The darker color of grid, the more seals there are.
