"en": "*INTRODUCTION*\n\nModeling the complex interdependencies of climate, species distributions, land cover, soils, and other features of the Earth system has long been a focus of ecological research. While a growing compendium of Earth observation (EO) and other global datasets exists, differences in coordinate reference systems, spatial resolutions, geographic data models, and file formats, as well as the distortions induced by map projections, hinder integrated study in macroecological modeling.\n\nHere we introduce the Eco-ISEA3H database, built on the Icosahedral Snyder Equal Area (ISEA) aperture 3 hexagonal (3H) Discrete Global Grid System (DGGS). ISEA3H partitions the Earth's surface into a contiguous grid of *equal-area hexagonal* cells. These observational units have *uniform topology* with neighbors, sharing an edge with six adjacent cells, and are maximally *compact*, minimizing within-unit variability in expectation. For each source dataset, variables are organized under one or more themes. The hexagon ID, or HID, serves as primary key, linking records associated with each ISEA3H grid cell among these files; HIDs are unique within each ISEA3H resolution.\n\nAt the root, each ISEA3H resolution has a folder; within these are folders for each source dataset, named following the format:\n\n[Source Dataset]-V[Version]\n\nWithin dataset folders are one or more text files, named following the format:\n\nISEA3H[Resolution]-[Source Dataset]-V[Version]-Y[Year]-[Theme]-[Summary Statistic]\n\nNote that files may have an additional Y[Year] specified, in which case the two Y[Year]s indicate the temporal range, inclusive, represented by the source dataset. A Y[Year] is included only when required; datasets without a specific temporal period (for example, GLiM), or averaged for a single, standard period (WorldClim), are not given a Y[Year] attribute.\n\nDiscrete, categorical variables within each file are generally named following the format:\n\n[Theme]-[Class]-[Summary Statistic]\n\nContinuous, real-numbered variables within each file are generally named following the format:\n\n[Variable]-[Summary Statistic]\n\nThe \"Spatial\" folder at the root contains accompanying spatial files in tabular latitude/longitude format (Text), ESRI shapefile point and polygon format (Vector), and GeoTIFF format (Raster). Data concerning confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) utilised in the measurement validation is freely available. Data for the CFA was collected via Prolific, an online survey platform. Thirty-three different surveys were created with the Webropol survey tool, all with different stimulus. Participants (N = 330) answered to the 33 surveys (161 female, 163 male, age range = 18-53, M = 25.8, SD = 7.0). The CFA dataset contains variables of Participant id, Stimulus, Age, Gender, Country, Native-English, and survey scales comprised of the PVU items (VCL1, VCL2, VCL3-REV, VCL4, VCL5, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, CCO1, CCO2-REV, CCO3-REV, CCO4-REV, CCO5, CCO6) and three previously validated scales from the AttracDiff2 (Hedonic Quality – Stimulation: HQS1, HQS2, HQS3, HQS4, HQS5, HQS6, HQS7), classical and expressive aesthetics (Expressive Aesthetics: EAE1, EAE2, EAE3, EAE4, EAE5), and Visual Aesthetics for Website Inventory (VisAWI, Diversity: DIV1, DIV2, DIV3-REV, DIV4, DIV5-REV) questionnaires.",

"en": "The design and use of multisensory environments (MSEs) possess great application potential for variety of purposes that effects on learning and behavior. Multi-Sensory Environment (MSE) can briefly be defined as designated and controlled space designed to alert or calm the person’s senses in order to enhance several purposes like playing, learning, health promotion, rehabilitation and over all increasing quality of life, feeling better and happier. The Nordic-Baltic project SPEDUCULT (hamk.fi/speducult), coordinated by HAMK Smart Research Unit, was taken place between five countries and nine partner institutions, within an activity framework of five seminars, workshops and survey between 2017-19. \n\nThe project’s main purpose was to carry out survey to find out current understanding and cultural landscape of MSE in Nordic and Baltic countries. The survey was carried out between 2018-2019. Main areas of interests were in how widely the MSE approach was taught and practiced at national and at Nordic-Baltic level, how was it used, what kind of technology and practical equipment were in use, how they were designed and finally, what kind of networking there was to be found. The survey was done together with partners 1) Denmark: Via University College & ISNA-mse International snoezelen association-multi sensory environment (DK-ISNA-mse), 2) Estonia: Käo Basic School, 3) Finland: Häme University of Applied Sciences & City of Helsinki, Department of Social and Health Care, Services for the Disabled, 4) Norway: NTNU- Norwegian University of Science and Technology & The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) and 5) Sweden: Lund University, Certec & City of Gothenburg, Eldorado. The survey’s main focuses areas were defined as 1) MSE Therapy, Learning & Recreational settings, 2) MSE education of therapists, teachers, designers & other practitioners, 3) Design of MSE services, and 4) MSE collaboration & Network.\nIn collecting the MSEs data, collaboration was done with the national multisensory societies and networks (Norske Sanserom, Svenska snoezelen nätverket, Snoezelnätverket Södra sverge, Snoezelnet.dk and Suomen multisenso/Papunet). The survey questionnaire was originally done in English and then translated to Danish, to Estonian, to Finnish, to Norwegian and to Swedish. It was implemented by using the Webropol online survey and analysis tool. The survey was introduced as a voluntary action to members of the networks and to key persons of these societies and networks. 122 organisations were reached. \n\nResults showed the formal education of the MSEs staff was pedagogics (63%) or occupational therapists (50%). Staff was trained by other practioners (63%) or self-taught by courses (51%). 46% had official MSE education. In all countries MSEs were used for recreational & resting purposes (97%), to develop interaction and communication (92%) and used for Therapy, Learning & Recreational settings (83%). MSEs were rarely designed by professional designers (15%). Only one third (31,52%) of respondents had membership of national MSE society or a network."

"en": "Access to higher education and equality of access for under-represented people and for people with disabilities has been defined as an important aim for universities and higher education institutions (HEI). It is moral obligation and a legal requirement in Europe. This requirement challenges HEIs to develop fresh and more effective inclusive strategies to ensure access for all under-represented groups in to higher education. \n\nAs a part of the project \"Towards Inclusive eLearning: Improving Accessibility of eLearning in Higher Education from Universal Design for Learning perspective\" (hamk.fi/tinel), the Call for voluntary survey participation was organized to reveal and map best accessible and inclusive eLearning and Universal Design for Learning practices in European higher education. The purpose was to develop a freely available corpus of best practices to help staff in higher education institutions (HEIs) to support the widest diversity of students, regardless of backgrounds, experiences, learning styles and abilities. In designing the entry form for the survey, the enhancement-led evaluation principles of FINEEC were applied. The goal of enhancement-led evaluation was to help HEIs to identify their strengths, good practices and areas in need of development in their own UDeL operations. The survey questionnaire was done in English and implemented by using the Webropol online survey and analysis tool. Data collection and dissemination of the form co-operated with national networks of higher education institutions in Finland, Norway, Sweden and UK. The material produced by the Call for submission served as a data material from which the existing UDL situation in HEIs was mapped and the corpus of best practices were collected."

"en": "Ringed seal image dataset (SealID) provides a challenging identification task. General purpose animal re-identification methods that utilize fur, feather, skin patterns of animals could be evaluated on that dataset. Large variation in illumination, seal poses, limited size of identifiable region, low contrast between the ring pattern and the rest of the pelage, substantial differences between wet and dry fur and low image quality of automatic camera traps all contribute to the difficulty of the re-identification task of Saimaa ringed seals.\n\n \n\nWe have compiled an extensive dataset of 57 seals containing a total of 2080 images and made it publicly available. All animal individuals were identified by experts."
