"en": "This dataset includes isotopic values of bulk soil water and stem water samples collected from four different sampling sites within the Pallas catchment. Two sampling sites (SF1 and SF2) were set in forested areas with mineral soils, and another two (FP1 and FP2) in forested peatlands. \n\nThe bulk soil samples were collected on 8 occasions between May 2019 and June 2020, while the stem samples were collected during the snow-free periods, 6 times overall. Bulk soil was sampled from 1 m deep soil cores, at 5 cm increments up to 50 cm of depth and at 10 cm increments from 50 - 100 cm depth. 1- 4 replicates per sampling site were collected during each sampling campaign, depending on field conditions. \n\nStem samples were collected from 2 different mature trees of each of the present tree species at 2.5 - 3 m height. An extendable pruner was utilized to sample healthy, suberized stems with mature bark of 10–15 cm length and diameter larger than 2 cm, which were subsequently placed in 50 ml Eppendorf tubes made of biobased plastic, wrapped in laboratory film (Parafilm®) and stored in the cooling box.\n\nIsotopic composition of bulk soil water was measured by the direct equilibration method, using a cavity ring-down spectroscopy analyzer (Picarro L2140-i model, Picarro Inc., Santa Clara, CA, USA). The water from stem samples was extracted by cryogenic vacuum distillation method, and subsequently measured on Picarro L2130-i CRDS analyser.\n\nThe main goal of the study was to examine spatiotemporal variability and seasonal origin of soil water at the soil-vegetation interface in Pallas catchment, and to assess how soil water isotopic seasonality is reflected in stem water of local tree species. Kindly cite this article for the dataset.\n\nAim: Online reptile trade poses new challenges to species conservation and requires automated monitoring. Range-restricted and endemic reptile species are especially vulnerable to wildlife trade and unsustainable exploitation. In this study, we investigated the magnitude and geographic distribution of online trade of 96 endemic and range-restricted reptile species from the Lesser Antilles. \n\nLocation: Global. \n\nMethods: We developed methods for automated collection, filtering, and processing of wildlife trade content for the targeted species from publicly accessible online platforms. \n\nResults: We identified 599 relevant advertisements originating from 231 different advertisers and 41 websites focusing on 43 species. Species advertised included threatened species according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List and species listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Appendices. Among threatened species, five are Critically Endangered, three are Endangered, and two are Vulnerable according to the IUCN Red List. Moreover, three out of the six most advertised species were classified as Near Threatened. Germany was the country with the highest number of advertisements (N=124), followed by the United States (N=55), Netherlands (N=15) and United Kingdom (N=15). Based on data from sale advertisements that included price and currency data, prices ranged from one to over a thousand Euros. \n\nMain conclusions: We present a framework for automated analysis of online trade in reptiles that can be extended to other taxonomic groups. Our results highlight countries, such as Germany and the United States, where enhanced monitoring actions would be important to assess the origin (i.e., captive-bred or wild-sourced individuals) and the legality of the trade. Immediate conservation actions, such as population monitoring, are also needed to ensure wildlife trade is not threatening the persistence of endemic reptile populations in the wild."

"en": "The collection is available in Kielipankki - the Language Bank of Finland (puhti.csc.fi, in the directory /appl/data/kielipankk/mrc-uhlcs/. Access rights instructions: http://www.kielipankki.fi/access).\n\nThe UHLCS, maintained by the University of Helsinki, was founded in late 1980. At present, the UHLCS contains computer corpora of more than 50 languages, including samples of minority languages and extensive corpora representing different text types. In 2000, the corpora of the Uralic, Turkic, Tungusic, Mongolic, Chukotko-Kamchatkan, Iranian and North-East Caucasian languages were edited for public use with the financial support of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig. In summer 2003, metadata descriptions for the corpora were prepared with the financial support of the ECHO project (European Cultural Inheritance Online). "en": "This dataset contains focus group interviews in Finnish with second- and third-year vocational education students.\n\nTha data was collected from two vocational education providers in 2018-2019. We organised together with ALL-YOUTH project six workshops for vocational education students. The workshop had two phases. First, participants sketched in pairs a collage work in which they attached words and images from magazines related to either a successful or unsuccessful transition to work. They were then interviewed in small groups where they presented their collage works and then answered research questions considering their working life attitudes, working life expectations and concerns and visions of good life and future.\n\nParticipants: 56 young second- or third-year vocational students, 12 group interviews, 6 occupational fields: Social and Health Care (2 interviews); Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Services (3 interviews); Electrical Engineering and Automation Technology (5 interviews), Food Production (1 interview); Business and Administration and Information and Communications Technology (1 interview).\n\nBackground information contains only information about the study branch and the date of the workshop. No personal information was collected from participants to be included in the study, but those interested were able to submit their contact details for further study.\n\nThe data is not open as all the young people participationg the group interviews did not give permission for data opening. "fi": "Aineisto pitää sisällään suomenkielisiä ryhmähaastatteluita, jotka teetettiin toisen ja kolmannen vuoden ammatillisen perustutkinnon opiskelijoille. \n\nAineisto kerättiin kahdelta ammatilliselta koulutuksen järjestäjältä 2018-2019. ALL-YOUTH-hankkeen kanssa toteutettiin yhteensä kuusi työpajaa. Työpajassa oli kaksi vaihetta. Ensin tutkimukseen osallistujat luonnostelivat pareittain kollaasityön, johon he keräsivät aikakauslehdistä sanoja ja kuvia, jotka liittyivät joko onnistuneeseen tai epäonnistuneeseen työelämäsiirtymään. Tämän jälkeen heitä haastateltiin pienryhmissä, jossa he esittelivät kollaasityönsä ja vastasivat sen jälkeen tutkimuskysymyksiin koskien heidän työelämäasenteitaan, työelämää koskevia odotuksiaan ja huoliaan, hyvää elämää ja tulevaisuutta. \n\nOsallistujat: 56 ammatillista perustutkintoa opiskelevaa toista tai kolmatta vuotta opiskelevaa nuorta, 12 ryhmähaastattelua, 6 tutkintoalaa: sosiaali- ja terveysalan (2 haastattelua), hotelli-, ravintola- ja cateringalan (3 haastattelua), sähkö- ja automaatiotekniikan (5 haastattelua), elintarvikealan (1 haastattelu) sekä liiketalouden ja tieto- ja viestintätekniikan (1 haastattelu) perustutkinnoista.\n\nTaustatietoina saatavilla ainoastaan haastatteluun osallistuneiden perustutkinto sekä työpajan toteuttamispäivämäärä. "en": "The material includes Finnish-language individual interviews with young people who had graduated from vocational upper secondary education half or one and half years ago.\n\nThe interviews were conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams in September 2020. During the interviews, young adults were asked about how their lives have proceeded after their graduation from vocational education. In addition, interview questions a related to their expectations regarding employment and their realisation, job-related hopes and concerns, vocational education and the skills gained from it, their thoughts on the support needed to participate in working life, and their thoughts about work, unemployment, well-being and the future. \n\nThe interviews were follow-up interviews to the group interviewsconducted in vocational upper secondary education by arranging workshops with ALL-YOUTH research project (see http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:en:att:2a0901af-2c01-4d40-b17d-03e63beac1e7) The interviews also asked young adults about their thoughts on the research findings concerning the workshop data.\n\nParticipants: 4 participants, 18-19 years old\n\nThe interviewees gave permission to store the material in the Social Science Data Archive (FSD). Because FSD only accepts data from more than 10 interviews, the data is not stored as open source. "fi": "Aineisto pitää sisällään suomenkielisiä yksilöhaastatteluita nuorten kanssa, jotka olivat valmistuneet ammatillisesta koulutuksesta 0,5-1,5 sitten.\n\nHaastattelut toteutettiin etänä Microsoft Teamsin välityksellä syyskuussa 2020. Haastatteluissa tiedusteltiin nuorten aikuisten kuulumisia ammatillisesta koulutuksesta valmistumisen jälkeen. Haastattelukysymykset liittyvät kuulumisten ohella heidän työllistymiseen liittyviin odotuksiin ja niiden toteutumiseen, työhön liittyviin toiveisiin ja huoliin, ammatilliseen koulutukseen ja sieltä saatuihin valmiuksiin, heidän ajatuksiinsa liittyen työelämään osallistumisessa tarvittavaan tukeen sekä työhön, työttömyyteen, hyvinvointiin ja tulevaisuuteen. \n\nHaastattelut olivat jatkohaastatteluja ammatillisessa koulutuksessa ALL-YOUTH-tutkimushankkeen kanssa toteutetuille työpajoille (ks. http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:att:2a0901af-2c01-4d40-b17d-03e63beac1e7) Haastatteluissa tiedusteltiin myös nuorten aikuisten ajatuksia työpaja-aineistoista tehtyihin tutkimushavaintoihin.\n\nOsallistujat: 4 osallistujaa, 18-19-vuotiaita\n\nHaastateltavat antoivat luvan aineiston tallentamiseksi Yhteiskuntatieteelliseen tietoarkistoon (FSD). Koska FSD ottaa vastaan vain yli 10 haastattelun aineistoja, aineistoa ei ole tallennettu avoimeksi. Aineisto ei ole avoin, sillä tutkittavat antoivat luvan vain Yhteiskuntatieteellistä tietoarkistoa varten.\n\nAineisto kerättiin osana Strategisen tutkimuksen neuvoston rahoittamaa ALL-YOUTH - kaikki nuoret haluvat määrätä elämästään -tutkimushanketta (rahoituspäätösnumero 3121336548)."

"en": "Suomi eilen ja tänään 'Finland, Yesterday and Today' was written as a manuscript by Kaisa Häkkinen and Seppo Zetterberg for translation into numerous minority Finno-Ugric languages in Russia. In the late 1990s, the M.A. Castrén Society commissioned this manuscript as a information package for providing minority-language information on Finnish history, culture and statehood in 1995. One of the ideas behind this project was to provide primary information that was not available through any other channel – give minority language a meaningful use as a source of new information. Thus, translations were made into the minority languages Komi-Zyrian, Udmurt, Meadow Mari, Erzya and Moksha. The translators were linguists who had spent time in Finland and therefore had personal experience of Finland as well. All of the translations including a Russian translation were publish in Russia in 1997.",

"en": "This corpus version is available in Kielipankki, the Language Bank of Finland (Korp service), see Access location.\n\nThe corpus contains a slightly modified version of the transcriptions of of the plenary sessions of the Parliament of Finland from 10.09.2008 to 1.7.2016. The transcripts have been aligned with the audio tracks of the video recordings of the original sessions. Each speaker's speech has been separately aligned. The alignment is based on the output of a set of automatic tools and it was provided by Aalto University. \n\nIn this updated version, links have been added from each utterance in the transcript to the corresponding portion of the video recording. Video links can be found from the search results in Korp. In addition, for backward compatibility, some search results in Korp have a link to the LAT version of the session in case it exists. Please note that the LAT version may not be available in future versions of the corpus. However, the original transcription files will continue to be available in the downloadable version of the corpus (see Relation for the link to the download version).\n\nPlease note that the aligned transcript may contain errors and some superfluous tags may have been inserted in the text due to the automatic alignment and speech recognition process. For portions where the original audio track did not have matching text in the transcript, the speech signal was recognized automatically using a Finnish language model, and such portions may contain strange or erroneous content. \n\nThe text in the transcripts has been parsed automatically using a Finnish language model. This is why the part-of-speech of word tokens in the Swedish portions within the transcripts has usually been marked as 'foreign word'.\n\nIn the search results of this corpus version in Korp, there are links to the original authoritative session transcripts as well as to the original video streams that are provided by the Parliament of Finland.",

Access location).\n\nAineisto sisältää ajalla 10.09.2008 - 1.7.2016 pidettyjen eduskunnan täysistuntojen videotallenteisiin kohdistetut keskustelupöytäkirjat osittain muokattuina. Tekstimuotoinen aineisto on saatavilla Kielipankin Korp-palvelussa, ks. Access location. Eduskunnan tuottamat pöytäkirjat on kohdistettu istuntojen videotallenteiden ääniraitaan siten, että kukin puhuja on kohdistettu erikseen. Kohdistus on tehty automaattisin menetelmin Aalto-yliopistossa.\n\nTässä päivitetyssä korpusversiossa on mukana myös linkit jokaisen tekstissä esiintyvän virkkeen tai puhunnoksen kohdalta vastaavaan kohtaan alkuperäisessä videossa. Videolinkit löytyvät Korpin hakutuloksista. Lisäksi joistakin hakutuloksista on linkki kyseisen istunnon tallenteeseen LAT-alustalla, jotta korpus olisi edelleen yhteensopiva aiemman version kanssa. Jatkossa LAT-aineistoon johtavat linkit tullaan todennäköisesti poistamaan. LATissa näkyvät annotaatiotiedostot ovat kuitenkin myös tulevaisuudessa saatavilla latauspalvelun kautta (linkki latausversion tietoihin löytyy kohdasta Relation).\n\nHuomaa, että kohdistetussa pöytäkirjaversiossa voi esiintyä virheitä ja siihen on saattanut syntyä ylimääräisiä merkkauksia automaattisen tunnistusprosessin yhteydessä. Ne kohdat äänitteessä, joille ei ole automaattisessa kohdistuksessa löytynyt hyvää vastinetta pöytäkirjan tekstistä, on tunnistettu kokonaan automaattisesti suomen kielen mallia käyttäen, joten tällaisissa kohdissa saattaa olla kummallista tai virheellistä sisältöä. \n\nTekstiaineiston automaattisessa jäsentämisessä on käytetty suomen kielen mallia. "en": "Terrestrial laser scanning point clouds acquired in the autumn of 2021 from 22 circular sample plots (r = 25 m) located in Evo, Finland. A Leica RTC 360 A 3D (Leica Geosystems, St. Gallen, Switzerland) time-of-flight laser scanner was used in the data acquisition. A multi-scan approach has been applied in the data acquisition, that is, each sample plot has been scanned from nine separate scanning locations: one scan from the plot centre and eight scans from quadrant directions (i.e. north, north-east, east, south-east, south, south-west, west, and north-west of the plot centre). Individual scans have been co-registered using artificial reference targets, height-normalized (Z-coordinates representing heights above the ground) and georeferenced into EUREF-FIN (epsg 3067) coordinate reference system.",

The LAT service of the Language Bank of Finland was discontinued in November 2020. This downloadable version consists of the same content as the former LAT version. Further details about the most recent version are available on the info page of this corpus family (http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:lb-202104202) \n\nThe follow-up study of Finnish dialects was started in 1989. It is a sociolinguistic and dialectological longitudinal study which is carried out in cooperation with the universities. The goal of the project has been to study the development of regional dialects in real time in 10 rural municipalities at the interval of 10 years. The municipalities chosen represent the traditional main dialect groups of Finnish. In each town, altogether 15 speakers have been used as informants. The external variables used in the study include age and sex: in each town, speakers of three generations have been studied (O = old, M = middle-aged, Y = young), both men and women. The data have been collected by using the traditional dialect interview method, and the study has focused on phonological and morphological features. Reports of ten sub-studies and a final report of the first round have been completed.\n\nThe second round of the project was started in 1999 and completed in 2007. Eight of the sub-studies have been completed, one of them as a form of the dissertation (Kurki 2005). During the second round, other types of data collected in addition to interviews. The part of the sub-studies focus on other than traditional sociolinguistic variables. \n\nImportant: due to the nature of the material, the resource should be handled with care in order to respect the privacy of the personal data.
