"en": "Collective preview entry for the FERMAID project. \n\nFERMAID is a project that investigates the effects of climate and human action on the ecosystem of Baltic Sea during the last 7000 years through the geochemical composition and magnetic properties of iron manganese precipitates. Iron manganese precipitates are discs that consist of iron and manganese oxides that are relatively common in the seabed of coastal areas. The project will produce proxy data with 3-20 year accuracy using mass spectrometer microanalysis, mineral magnetic studies and microbiological analysis. "fi": "The data on forest owners were obtained from the Puruvesi region in eastern Finland, where 65% of the forests are owned by small-scale private forest owners. The study sample included forest owners in the Puruvesi region selected from three distinct subcatchments, each of which holds significant importance for water conservation. Within the designated sample area, there were 501 forest owners managing approximately 9600 hectares of forest land, identified through the Finnish Forest Center registry. \n\nTo ensure a representative sample of forest owners within the study area, a postal survey method was chosen due to the limited availability of email addresses for a potential Internet survey. The survey was administered in two phases by an external research organization, Taloustutkimus OY. \n\nThe initial phase of data collection occurred in March 2023, when the survey forms were dispatched to forest owners in one of the case areas (n = 162). A follow-up email reminder was sent to those with known email addresses (76 individuals) after 10 days, and a second postal survey was dispatched approximately 20 days later, towards the end of April, to those who had not responded initially (133 individuals). Following this process, 39 forest owners returned the survey, serving as a pilot phase to confirm the feasibility of the survey instrument. \n\nSince the survey measures operated satisfactorily and the response rate was adequate, in the second phase the same survey forms were sent to forest owners by mail in two additional case areas, totaling 339 recipients, in July 2023. A follow-up postal survey was sent a month later to the 316 non-respondents. Additionally, email reminders were sent to those with known email addresses (135 forest owners) at the end of August. By the beginning of October 2023, a total of 63 individuals had returned the survey forms. The combination of datasets from the two collection phases yielded a final sample of 102 forest owners (n = 39 and n = 63), resulting in a response rate of 20.4%."

"en": "The dataset consists of X-ray microcomputed tomography image file (file format .png) packets (file format .tar) and 3D model reconstructions (file formats .stl, .ply) from imaging studies of human skeletal parts from the archaeological (600-1100 CE) Luistari cemetery, located in Eura, Finland. The imaged finds belong to the archaeological collections of the Finnish Heritage Agency. \n\nThe dataset includes 3D surface reconstructions and 2D model image captures of human teeth and bones (n=69 specimens in total), all in one zip file titled \"Surface reconstructions\" categorized in separate folders according to anatomical part. In addition to the original model ( .stl; larger file size), there is in most cases also a Laplace-smoothed version of the surface 3D model (.ply; smaller file size; \"_lapl\" in file name). \n\nThe folder \"TAR files\" contains all the source image files as .tar packages, each .tar package containing the .png files of one imaged specimen (i.e. tooth or bone; total n=73), categorized in separate sub folders according to skeletal element type. Most imaged skeletal elements are teeth. \n\nThe file or folder name, in most cases, gives the identification of the tooth using the nomenclature by Fédération dentaire internationale (fdi), followed by the Finnish Heritage Agency museum ID (type KM12345_6789_10) .\n\nThe imaging was conducted at the University of Helsinki X-ray Micro-CT laboratory during 2015-2016 using a Phoenix nanotom|s device. For tooth imaging, an operating voltage of 120 kV and current of 150 µA was used and 1 mm Al filter was placed in the beam. Each scan consisted of 1000 projection images with 2.5 s exposure time. The voxel size in the images varies from 8.33 µm to 11 µm depending on the sample size. Imaging of bones was performed with similar specifications, and resulted in higher voxel sizes. The 3D models were constructed using the Bruker CT Analyzer (CTAn) software and smoothed with Meshlab Laplacian smoothing (steps 3, 1D boundary smoothing, contangent weighting).",

Dental enamel and/or bone carbonate δ<jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C values were studied from altogether 65 humans, five cattle, and five sheep/goats. The bone and dentine collagen and carbonate data show that throughout the centuries, freshwater fish was a stable part of the diet for the population. Our results do not show systematic dietary differences between estimated males and females, but differences can be large on the individual level. We also discovered a possible temporal change in the enamel carbonate ẟ<jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C values that could be related to the increasing role of carbohydrates (e.g., crops) in the diet. Luistari burials are well comparable to contemporary Swedish Viking trading communities like Birka in their higher protein intake. But contrary to the wider Viking network, they do not show the same marine signal.</jats:p>",

"fi": "Helikopterilla suoritettu hirvien linjalaskenta, joka perustuu etäisyysmenetelmään (Buckland ym. 1993, 2001, 2004). Lentolaskennan avulla tarkennetaan hirvitalouskohtaisia kanta-arvioita, joka perustuu Bayesilaiseen monilähteiseen matemaattiseen populaatiomalliin. Laskentalinjat sijoitetaan kullekin hirvitalousalueelle kahden kilometrin välein kaikkia suuria maiseman gradientteja vastaan. Laskentalinjat kattavat yleensä koko hirvitalousalueen, jolle talvikannan tiheysarvio tuotetaan. Menetelmässä 2 – 4 laskijalla on kullakin omat sektorit, joilta mitataan ja kirjataan seuraavaa: havainnot eli hirvilauman koordinaatit laskentalinjalla, hirvilauman etäisyys laskentalinjasta (laserkiikari), lentosuunta, havainnon suunta, helikopterin korkeus maasta sekä hirvilauman koko ja lauman rakenne, jos se on mahdollista määrittää. Menetelmässä tuotetaan hirvilaumojen empiiristen etäisyyksien jakauman avulla ns. havaittavuusmalli, joka kuvaa havaintomäärien (laumojen) riippuvuutta etäisyyksistä laskentalinjaan. Havaittavuuden malli avulla määritetään ns. tehokas laskentakaista, johon kaikki hirvihavainnot skaalataan. Menetelmässä oletetaan laskentalinjan havaittavuuden olevan 100 %, jolloin havaittujen hirvien osuus todellisesta hirvikannasta heikkenee mitä kauempana hirvilauma sijaitsee laskentalinjasta. Menetelmä siis sopeutuu erilaisiin tilanteisiin joustavasti ja havaittavuus sekä laskentakaista vaihtelevat kunkin laskentakerran ja alueen mukaan."

"en": "VUOKKO is an early onset longitudinal study that examines the development of children’s skills, motivation, and emotions in the domains of numeracy, math, language, literacy, and reading, as well as the interactions in the learning environments (home, ECEC, and school). More in-depth description about the project can be found from parent dataset.\r\n\r\nThis Metadata publication covers the VUOKKO study ECEC Phases (age 2-6) and School Phases (Grades 1-3, age 7-10) and it describes collected data and measurements used in detail.\r\n\r\nVUOKKO researchers are aiming toward open collaboration with the research field and welcome individual researchers to jointly examine the data and seek opportunities for collaboration.",
"fi": "VUOKKO pitkittäistutkimuksessa seurataan lasten kieleen, lukemiseen ja matematiikkaan liittyvien taitojen, motivaation ja emootioiden kehitystä sekä lasten oppimisympäristöissä (koti, päiväkoti, koulu) tapahtuvaa vuorovaikutusta. Tarkemman kuvauksen hankkeesta ja sen kokonaisuudesta löydät emoaineistosta.\r\n\r\nTässä julkaistava VUOKKO Metadata kattaa tutkimuksen päiväkoti- ja kouluvaiheen (luokat 1-3) ja kuvaa huolella näistä vaiheista kerätyt tutkimusaineistot. Tutkimus jatkuu lasten ollessa 4. ja 5. luokalla ja niiden osalta aineistonkeruu raportoidaan myöhemmin erillisessä metadata-tiedostossa. VUOKKO tutkijat haluavat edistää avointa yhteistyötä tutkijoiden kanssa ja toivottavat heidät tervetulleeksi tarkastelemaan tutkimuksen aineistoja ja tekemään tutkimusta yhteistyössä hankkeen tutkijoiden kanssa. Tutkimusyhteistyöstä neuvotellaan ja yhteistyön tavat kirjataan VUOKKO tutkimuksen kirjoittajasopimukseen."

"en": "A joint Fennoscandian earthquake catalogue (FENCAT; updated after Ahjos and Uski, 1992) is an open-access catalogue providing all available non-instrumental and instrumental earthquake records in Fennoscandia and the adjacent offshore areas and it is compiled by Institute of Seismology, University of Helsinki, Finland. The catalogue covers earthquakes from 1467 to near present day. The original catalogue has been updated several times for different purposes.\n\nThe published versions are called FENCAT14, FENCAT17, FENCATxx, the number post text indicating the last year whose data are included in the dataset. FENCAT has been updated previously at the Institute of Seismology’s web sites and older versions have previously been called FENCAT catalogues without versioning.\n\nIn the current version FENCAT14, data in the catalogue covers the area of 54°-75°N and 0°-45°E including Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and adjacent offshore areas, as well as parts of northern Lithuania and northwestern Russia.\n\nBecause of the different degree of accuracy and homogeneity of the parameter data, the events were divided into historical (1375–1970) and instrumental (1971–) datasets. The source parameters for historical events are mainly macroseismic and for the instrumental data they are obtained by various iterative location procedures. The catalogue has been continuously updated with data from earthquake bulletins by the Institute of Seismology at the University of Helsinki (HEL), by the Department of Earth Science at the University of Bergen (BER), by the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Uppsala (UPP), and since 2006 by the Geological Survey of Estonia (EST).\n\nThe catalogue provides information about the time, location, depth, magnitudes, intensity and origin of data for the events. "en": "This data explores nature-based interventions for young people in precarious situations living in Finland. It covers two subprojects: (i) PPGIS (Public Participation Geographic Information Systems) survey study and (ii) NBI (Nature-Based Interventions) study.\r\n\r\nThe PPGIS study contains both survey and spatial data collected from 176 young people in Finland, between February 2023 - October 2023. The study examines the association between young people's nature experiences and their mental well-being, social inclusion, and nature related.\r\n\r\nThe NBI study contains pre- and post-intervention survey data and post-intervention interview data collected from 28 youth who were outside education or employment and participated in nature-based youth workshops in Finland. Data was collected between December 2022 to October 2023. The study explores the well-being experiences of participants and the effects of the interventions on their well-being outcomes.\r\n\r\nData is planned to be published in anonymized format when the study is finalized."

They were visually identified using open-access satellite imagery and critically evaluated by X and Y by Martti Pärssinen and Risto Kalliola.\n\nRoads are remarkably straight. This is one of the vulnerabilities included under ECCKAT, Section 3.4 (\"OpenSSL: ECC CDH vulnerability\").\r\n\r\nIt demonstrates bypassing Elliptic Curve Co-factor Diffie Hellman (ECC CDH) security, which should fail to derive a shared key if a peer point is not a multiple of the generator. Here the generator is for the NIST B-233 binary curve.\r\n\r\nThe vulnerability was in a development version of OpenSSL 1.1.1, fixed before the official release of OpenSSL 1.1.1 (Sep 2018)."
