"en": "This dataset contains tracking results of and immune cells (Mononucleated cells and neutrophils) perfused on endothelial monolayer under physiological flow speeds and with or without IL-1β treatment. Imaged using brightfield microscopy using a Nikon Eclipse Ti2-E microscope and 20x objective.\r\n\r\nPerfused cells from the generated videos were segmented using custom Stardist models. "en": "This repository contains a Pix2Pix deep learning model to generate synthetic PECAM-1 staining from brightfield images. The model was trained on an initial dataset of 484 paired brightfield and fluorescent microscopy images, which was computationally augmented by a factor of 6 to enhance model performance. The training was conducted over 245 epochs with a patch size of 512x512, a batch size of 1, and a vanilla GAN loss function. "en": "Using a mixed methods approach, this study investigates Finnish and Georgian deaf students' attitudes towards leisure reading and the relationship between their reading intentions and actual reading. The primary interest of the study is to identify the external factors that affect reading behaviour directly or indirectly. \r\n\r\nAn Integrative Model of Planned Behaviour is used as a theoretical framework, where intention is considered the main determinant for the behaviour. \r\n\r\nThe study is cross-cultural, bringing the experiences of two distinct countries together. \r\n\r\nReading attitude is investigated quantitatively, using a 5-point Likert Scale survey. 29 statements are broken down into three variables: enjoyment ( statements 4-13), difficulty ( statements 14-22) and social reinforcement (statements 23-29). \r\n\r\nFollow-up focus group interviews investigated the perceived external factors that affect reading behaviour negatively. interview questions were also grouped under three categories: 1) General feelings about reading (experiential attitude or affect), 2) Influences from individuals, close networks or society (perceived norms) and situational or environmental restrictions affect behaviour performance (skills, knowledge, resources, other factors). \r\n\r\nThe interview protocol, questions survey and row data are attached as files.\r\n\r\nInterview transcripts are saved in Finnish and Georgian languages and can be shared only upon a reasonable request. \r\n\r\nThe benefits of recreational reading for academic success are clear. However, the full potential of recreational reading for socialisation and well-being remains untapped by young readers. Studies of young readers’ recreational reading intentions and perceived barriers to translating intentions into reading are scarce. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students have been particularly excluded from research on leisure reading. Using a mixed methods approach, this study investigates Finnish and Georgian students' attitudes towards leisure reading and the relationship between their reading intentions and actual reading. Students' engagement in recreational reading is assessed through a quantitative survey, while their attitudes and intentions towards reading are revealed through focus group interviews. The results of this study suggest that students generally have positive attitudes towards reading, regardless of their country of origin and degree of hearing loss. Furthermore, the analysis reveals a wide range of barriers to reading, the most common of which are long school days, large amounts of homework, limited free time, and preferences for other leisure activities. "en": "This dataset was collected in a project “Muscle loading during physical activity and normal daily life: correlates with health and well being (EMG24)” funded by Research Council of Finland 2009-2010. Traditionally, physical activity assessments have contained heart rate or accelerometry. In EMG24, these assessments were complemented with electromyography (EMG) with the purpose to quantify muscle inactivity and activity periods during normal daily life. EMG from quadriceps and hamstring muscles were assessed during free living and during specific laboratory tasks of ordinary people. The current data contains assessments during treadmill protocol and selected participant characteristics. Fifty-four male and female volunteers (average age 39 yr) performed a maximal treadmill test (3-min loads) with 12 steps including walking with different speeds uphill, downhill, and on level ground and one running load. Energy expenditure was measured by indirect calorimetry simultaneously with heart rate, waist-worn accelerometry and thigh muscle EMG. EMG from quadriceps and hamstring muscles was measured using shorts equipped with textile electrodes. The data contains average values from each load. The data collection and analysis procedures are described in detail in Tikkanen et al. 2014 (EMG, Heart Rate, and Accelerometer as Estimators of Energy Expenditure in Locomotion. Med. Sci. Sports Exerc., Vol. 46, No. 9, pp. 1831–1839)."

"en": "Isotope effects between hydrogen and deuterium are key to various applications, including isotope separation for the nuclear industry and cold fusion. While molecular deuterium is rarely studied due to its high cost and is typically replaced by electrolytes like LiOD or NaOD, advances in hydrogen technologies enable direct investigation of isotope effects. Here, we introduce a novel closed-circuit electrochemical hydrogen pump for low-cost, long-duration studies of the hydrogen-palladium system under controlled H2/D2 partial pressures (0.5 – 2.5 bar) at high current densities (100 mA.cm-2). Pressure-dependent changes in capacitance and ohmic resistance suggest compression of the catalyst layers and narrowing of water channels within the membrane. Comparative measurements reveal clear isotope effects: ~25% and ~10% lower anodic charge transfer and ohmic resistances with H₂, yielding ~1.6× higher exchange current densities across all pressures. Additional effects on mass transport resistance further highlight the kinetic advantage of protium. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were performed on PdHx and PdDx model systems, wherein the thermodynamic phase and surface Pourbaix diagrams confirmed stable hydride/deuteride formation at the experimental conditions, consistent with changes in surface coverage inferred from capacitance trends. Reaction pathway analysis identified the Volmer–Heyrovsky mechanism, with the Heyrovsky step as rate-determining, in agreement with measured Tafel slopes. Electronic structure analysis shows that subsurface hydrogen weakens surface binding via d-band shifts, enhancing H2/D2 desorption. Altogether, this study integrates the design and validation of a novel hydrogen pump system and atomic-scale modelling to provide a multiscale understanding of isotope effects on metal-hydrogen systems under electrochemical conditions."

"en": "The dataset was collected as part of the research project Hybridization of Working-Class Masculinities in Knowledge-Intensive Manufacturing Work, which examines how working-class masculinity is constructed within the context of flexible and demand-driven industrial production.\r\n\r\nThe qualitative dataset consists of three interconnected parts:\r\n\r\n1) Semi-structured interviews with production managers and supervisors (n=7) focusing on production management, organizational values, and expectations directed at employees;\r\n\r\n2) Ethnographic observations of everyday work practices and production processes in several production teams and workstations over a four-month period; and\r\n\r\n3) Ethnographic interviews with male and female assemblers (n≈20–25) discussing experiential and gendered meanings of work as well as workers’ views on their future in the company.\r\n\r\nThe data illuminate the transformation of industrial work, the increasing demands for flexibility, and the cultural conditions of masculinity in a global, demand-driven manufacturing environment. The data were collected in Finland from a subsidiary of an international industrial corporation.\r\n\r\nThe dataset contains confidential information about production methods, process development, and future technological innovations, as well as identifiable information about individual employees and work communities. For these ethical and legal reasons, the dataset cannot be anonymized or published. Only its metadata are openly available through the JYX repository.\r\n\r\nThe dataset is stored at the University of Jyväskylä.",
"fi": "Aineisto on tuotettu osana tutkimushanketta Työväenluokkaisen mieheyden hybridisoituminen tietoistuvassa koneteollisuustyössä, jossa tarkastellaan työväenluokkaisen mieheyden rakentumista joustavan ja kysyntäohjautuvan teollisuustyön kontekstissa.\r\n\r\nAineisto on laadullinen haastattelu- ja havainnointiaineisto, joka koostuu kolmesta toisiinsa kietoutuvasta osa-aineistosta:\r\n\r\n1. Työnjohdon ja asiantuntijoiden puolistrukturoidut teemahaastattelut (n=6), joissa käsitellään tuotannon johtamista, tuotantomenetelmiä, yrityksen toimintaperiaatteita ja arvoja. Osa-aineiston avulla tarkastellaan, millaisia odotuksia ja vaatimuksia organisaatio asettaa työntekijöille ja millaista on “hyvä työntekijyys” nykypäivän teollisuudessa.\r\n\r\n2. Työn käytäntöjen ja tuotantoprosessien etnografinen havainnointi yrityksen tuotantotiloissa. Havainnointia tehtiin yhden–kolmen päivän jaksoissa neljän kuukauden ajanjaksolla useissa tuotantosoluissa ja työpisteissä. Havainnot kirjattiin kenttämuistiinpanoiksi ja puhtaaksikirjoitettiin välittömästi kunkin jakson jälkeen. Aineisto sisältää yksityiskohtaista kuvailua työympäristöstä, työvaiheista sekä niihin osallistuvien ihmisten, työkalujen, komponenttien, teknologioiden ja tilojen välisistä suhteista. Lisäksi aineisto sisältää työntekijöiden tulkintoja ja havaintoja omasta työstään.\r\n\r\n3. Asentajamiesten ja -naisten etnografiset haastattelut (n=25), joissa tarkastellaan työnteon kokemuksellisia ja sukupuolistuneita merkityksiä sekä työntekijöiden suhdetta kollegoihin ja yrityksen toimintakulttuuriin. Haastatteluissa reflektoinnin pohjana toimii havainnointimateriaali. Lisäksi keskustellaan työntekijöiden työhistoriasta, tulevaisuudensuunnitelmista ja näkemyksistä työn muutoksesta.\r\n\r\nKokonaisuudessaan aineisto valaisee teollisuustyön muutosta, siihen liittyviä joustavuusvaatimuksia sekä mieheyden kulttuurisia ehtoja kiristyvässä, kysyntäohjautuvassa globaalissa kilpailuympäristössä. Aineisto on kerätty suomalaisessa teollisuusympäristössä toimivasta yrityksestä, joka on osa kansainvälistä konsernia.\r\n\r\nAineisto sisältää yrityksen sisäisiä tietoja tuotantomenetelmistä, prosessien kehittämisestä ja tulevaisuuden teknologisista innovaatioista, joita ei voida julkaista. Lisäksi se sisältää tunnistettavaa tietoa yksittäisistä työntekijöistä ja työyhteisöistä, eikä sitä voida anonymisoida mielekkäästi ilman olennaisen tutkimuksellisen kontekstin katoamista. Tästä syystä aineisto säilytetään suljettuna, ja ainoastaan sen metatiedot ovat avoimesti saatavilla JYX-repositoriossa.\r\n\r\nAineisto säilytetään Jyväskylän yliopistossa."

"en": "These corpora are available through the Korp service.\n\nThese parallel corpora consist of Biblical verses (historical and contemporate, 1821–2019) from Erzya, Moksha, Olonets-Karelian (Livvi), Dvina-Karelian (North Karelian), Khanty, Komi-Permyak, Komi-Zyrian, Mansi, Udmurt and Veps, the majority of which, in reference to newer translations, come from the Institute for Bible Translation in Helsinki, Finland as originally organized for the University of Helsinki Language Corpus Server (UHLCS). Finnish and Russian translations are also included. \nThe purpose of these parallel corpora is to further the studies of translation in Uralic minority languages. Simultaneously, it provides an opportunity to follow changes in lexical and syntactic strategies used in different versions of Biblical verses in one language or compare lexicon and structure between languages. Lemmatization and morphological analyses are provided for all but Dvina-Karelian, Khanty, Veps and Russian, and the accuracy in the remaining languages should be developed as disambiguation resources. The Finnish texts have been analyzed with TNPP (Turku Neural Parser Pipeline), which includes lemmatization, morphological analysis as well as syntactic annotation.
