These data were collected from three oxbow lakes during the dry season. They describe sample identification numbers, geographic location (lat, long) and average measurements for temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, pressure, dissolved oxygen, and the number of samples used to calculate the mean measurements."

"en": "Cellulose is the most abundant biopolymer on Earth and an essential sustainable resource to humanity. Native cellulose exists in a crystalline nanofiber, cellulose microfibril (CMF). CMFs in higher plants are believed to have identical nanoscale morphology with a fibril width of 3 nm due to the shared biosynthetic mechanisms. However, cellulose-rich plant tissues have thicker CMFs, including cotton fiber with 5-nm-wide CMFs. This size variation is puzzling and beyond the current understanding of plant cellulose biosynthesis. Here, to better understand the structural evolution of cotton CMFs during the late development stage, we will use microfocus X-ray scattering to probe the ultrastructural change of never-dried cotton fiber in various drying conditions. The results will help us understand the formation mechanism of thick CMFs in cotton. They will provide insights into the morphogenesis of higher plant CMFs and inspiration for fine-tuning the morphology of cellulose nanomaterials."

"en": "Mycelium composite has attracted significant attention in the last two decades for its functionality and sustainability. While the mycelium formation is essential to the production of the composites, the fungal growth results in the decay of the cell wall structure, which is thought to be detrimental to the composite properties. Here, we utilize the wood decay to activate the biomass as a starting material for wood-based carbon materials. We expect that the wood decay will result in more porous cell wall structures, while the mycelium growth will contribute to the increase of nitrogen in the biomass due to the deposition of chitin as the main component of fungal cell walls. To examine the effects of fungal effects on the ultrastructure of wood, we will conduct a simultaneous S/WAXS experiment of mycelium composite. The results will provide insight into the structural changes and will contribute to designing of activation process of wood by fungal growth"

The survey then explored respondents' experiences of Finnishness and their ethnic identity. In addition, the survey addressed respondents' views on political participation and the role of ethnic minorities in politics. Next, respondents were asked about their voting intentions in the 2023 parliamentary elections. They were also asked to what extent various factors and characteristics influence their choice of party and candidate or their decision not to vote. Respondents also indicated which parties they believe are best positioned to promote the interests of ethnic minority groups in Finland. Following this, respondents were asked to evaluate various options regarding the future direction of Finland. Following this, they evaluated different future policy directions for Finland, including issues such as promoting equality, increasing immigration, taxation policy, the size of the public sector, and combating climate change. Finally, respondents were asked whether they had experienced discrimination in the past five years. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, region of residence, electoral district, statistical grouping of municipalities, level of education, occupational group, party affiliation, and the continent of birth of their parents.",

Aineisto on kerätty osana Gen2-kyselytutkimuspaneelia, joka kuuluu kansalliseen yleisen mielipiteen mittaamisen infrastruktuuriin (The Finnish Research Infrastructure for Public Opinion, FIRIPO). Aluksi vastaajilta tiedusteltiin heidän kiinnostustaan politiikkaan sekä luottamustaan eri tahoihin, kuten hallitukseen ja tiedotusvälineisiin. Tämän jälkeen kartoitettiin vastaajien kokemuksia suomalaisuudesta ja omasta etnisestä identiteetistä. Vastaajien tuli myös valita, mitkä puolueet kykenevät parhaiten edistämään etnisten vähemmistöryhmien asemaa Suomessa. Tämän jälkeen vastaajien tuli arvioida erilaisia ehdotuksia koskien Suomen tulevaisuuden suuntaa. Ehdotukset liittyivät esimerkiksi tasa-arvon edistämiseen, maahanmuuton kasvuun, verotuksen suuntaan, julkisen sektorin kokoon ja ilmastonmuutoksen torjuntaan. Lopuksi vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, ovatko he kokeneet syrjintää viimeisen viiden vuoden aikana. Taustamuuttujina ovat muun muassa vastaajan ikä, sukupuoli, maakunta, vaalialue, kuntaluokitus, koulutustaso, ammattiryhmä, puoluekanta ja tieto maanosasta, jossa vanhemmat ovat syntyneet."

"en": "This survey study charted Finnish people's views and opinions on safety and security in Finland. The study was conducted in 2015 by Suomen Kyselytutkimus in collaboration with the Finnish National Rescue Association (SPEK). The first questions covered the respondents' personal wellbeing and security, and they were enquired about social relations, sense of belonging, loneliness, social safety nets, trust in other people, trust in receiving help when needed, and factors increasing security in their lives (e.g. money, health, the police, family, work). Next, the survey examined the respondents' preparedness for different threats and disturbances with questions regarding, for instance, whether the respondents had any uninsured assets that should be insured, and how many days their household would fare without electricity, water, public transport, etc. The study also surveyed views on national security, and the respondents were asked how likely they considered Finland facing different problems within the next three years (e.g. threat of war, terrorism or sustained recession, or problems with the supply of electricity, political problems, epidemics, a massive influx of refugees, or environmental catastrophes). Next, the respondents were presented with a set of attitudinal statements concerning the state's role in guaranteeing citizens' safety and livelihood, safety in different types of residential areas and in Finland more generally, righteousness of the treatment of criminals and victims of crime, equality, trust in foreigners living in Finland, and feelings of unsafety. Relating to safety, the respondents were also enquired to what extent their feelings of safety were increased by different actors (e.g. the police, the Defence Forces, emergency services, healthcare services, family). Views on the biggest factors decreasing the safety of children and the elderly were also charted (e.g. traffic, loneliness, crime, accidents, substance abuse). Finally, the study charted views on which services funded publicly at the time of the survey could be funded by customers to a greater extent (e.g. social and health care services, education, libraries, child day care, church, geriatric care). Background variables included type of the respondent's municipality of residence, region, age, gender, household composition, whether R's parents were born in Finland, educational level, economic activity and occupational status, and sufficiency of the household's income.",

"en": "This survey charted Finnish views and opinions on safety and security in Finland. The study was conducted in 2017 by Suomen Kyselytutkimus in collaboration with the Finnish National Rescue Association (SPEK). First, some questions on the respondents' personal wellbeing and security were asked (e.g. whether they thought they would receive financial help from the people close to them if they needed it). The respondents' preparedness for different threats and disturbances was examined with questions regarding, for instance, how many days their household would fare without electricity, water, public transport, etc. Views on national security were also charted, and the respondents were asked how likely they considered Finland facing different problems within the next three years (e.g. threat of terrorism or sustained recession, problems with the supply of electricity, political problems, epidemics or pandemics, a massive influx of refugees, environmental catastrophes). Next, the respondents were presented with a set of attitudinal statements concerning the state's role in guaranteeing citizens' safety and livelihood, safety in different types of residential areas and in Finland more generally, the effect of technology on social relationships, the impact of media on safety, righteousness of the treatment of criminals and victims of crime, and trust in foreigners living in Finland. Feelings of unsafety were also charted, and the respondents were asked to what extent their feelings of safety were increased by different actors (e.g. the police, the Defence Forces, emergency services, healthcare services, family). The respondents' views on the biggest factors decreasing the safety of children and the elderly were surveyed (e.g. traffic, loneliness, crime, accidents, substance abuse). Finally, the respondents were asked how they thought the availability of various services, such as police or emergency services and public child day care, would change within the next three years. Background variables included the type of the respondent's municipality of residence, NUTS2 and NUTS3 regions of residence, statistical grouping of municipalities, and residence in the seven largest cities in Finland (categorised). Additionally, the background variables included the respondent's age and age group, gender, household composition, whether R's parents were born in Finland, highest level of education, economic activity and occupational status, and sufficiency of the household's income.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa kartoitettiin Suomen kansalaisten näkemyksiä ja mielipiteitä turvallisuudesta. Kysely laadittiin yhteistyössä SPEKin ja Suomen Kyselytutkimus Oy:n kesken. Kyselyn alussa kerättiin tietoa kansalaisten turvallisuuteen vaikuttavista tekijöistä sekä yksilöiden ja yhteisöjen resursseista varautua yhteiskunnan elintärkeitä toimintoja vaarantaviin häiriötilanteisiin ja uhkiin. Kysyttiin esimerkiksi, kuinka monta päivää yksilön talous kestää ilman sähköä tai juoksevaa vettä. Seuraavaksi kyselyssä tarkasteltiin yhteiskunnan turvallisuuden ja oikeudenmukaisuuden nykytilaa ja kehityssuuntaa lähitulevaisuudessa. Kysyttiin muun muassa, kuinka todennäköisenä vastaaja pitää Suomen joutumista erilaisiin uhkaaviin tilanteisiin kuten radikalisoitumisen kohteeksi tai ympäristökatastrofiin. Lisäksi vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan turvallisuuteen ja oikeudenmukaisuuteen liittyviä väittämiä, joiden teemoina olivat politiikan hyväksyttävyys, turvallisuustekijät, teknologian vaikutus sosiaalisiin suhteisiin, median luoma turvallisuus ja kansalaisten tasa-arvoinen ja oikeudenmukainen kohtelu. Tämän jälkeen kartoitettiin turvattomuuden tunteita ja sitä, millä tahoilla on vaikutus turvallisuuden tunteen lisäämisessä. Lopuksi kartoitettiin pienten lasten ja vanhusten turvattomuustekijöitä. Taustamuuttujina ovat asuinpaikkakunnan tyyppi, maakunta, suuralue, tilastollinen kuntajako ja suurimmat kaupungit sekä ikä ja ikäryhmä, sukupuoli, perhemuoto, vanhempien syntyperä, korkein koulutus, pääasiallinen toiminta ja tulojen riittävyys."

"en": "The datasets contain measurement and model data used in Gatou et al. (2026), “Vertical distribution, optical characterization and automated classification of airborne pollen from in situ measurements”. Measurements were conducted at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) Vehmasmäki measurement station in eastern Finland (62°44′ N, 27°33′ E; 190 m a.s.l.), a rural site located approximately 18 km south of Kuopio and surrounded mainly by grass fields and broad-leaved and coniferous forest.\n\nThe datasets include airborne pollen concentrations measured with a Hirst-type volumetric air sampler, measurements from PS2 optical particle sensors, particle measurements from a Cloud Droplet Analyzer (CDA), aerosol particle size distributions from NanoScan and Optical Particle Sizer (NS–OPS) measurements, and modelled pollen concentrations from the System for Integrated modeLling of Atmospheric coMposition (SILAM).\n\nDetails of the instruments, measurement procedures, data processing, and analysis are provided in the associated manuscript."

"en": "This dataset consists of 11 writings where generalist degree students describe their academic expertise and its development throughout their university studies. In this context, generalist degree refers to fields of study where students graduate as experts in the more broad field they studied rather than studies that lead to a specific occupational title (e.g. doctor). In the invitation to write, the students were asked to describe their general expertise at present as well as whether they felt they were experts in some specific field. They were also asked to write about the support they had received or would want to receive from their university in developing their expertise. Additionally, the students were asked to describe their generalist degree studies and the potential benefits they thought the degree offered for working life. Central themes in the writings included studies, expertise and the abilities needed in working life. Background information included the participant's gender, age, field of study and the year of beginning studies. The data are only available in Finnish.",

Kirjoitusohjeessa pyydettiin vastaajia kertomaan muun muassa, millaiseksi he kuvailevat asiantuntijuutta tällä hetkellä ja kokevatko vastaajat olevansa jonkin alan tai alueen asiantuntijoita. Lisäksi kirjoituskutsussa kartoitettiin sitä, millaista tukea asiantuntijuuden kehittämiseen kaivattaisiin yliopistolta. Kirjoituskutsussa kysyttiin myös generalistialojen luonteesta ja niiden antamasta potentiaalista tulevaisuuden työelämän kannalta. Keskeisiä teemoja kirjoituksissa olivat opinnot, asiantuntijuus ja työelämässä tarvittava osaaminen. Kirjoittajilta kerättiin taustatietoina sukupuoli, ikä, opintosuunta ja opintojen aloitusvuosi. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata."

"en": "The survey focused on school well-being in grades 7-9 in Finland, studying student opinions on school facilities, the learning environment, social relationships in school, and means for self-fulfilment in school, as well as the students' perceived health status. The survey contained both statements and multiple choice questions. The respondents indicated to what extent they agreed with the statements using a five-point scale (i.e. from \"strongly agree\" to \"strongly disagree\"). School facilities were studied with a number of questions about the classroom (e.g. size, temperature, ventilation, desks), toilet facilities, the dining room, the schoolyard and the school building (e.g. safety, functionality). Access to and trust in the school nurse and the school welfare officer were charted as well as opinions on the school timetable. The statements relating to social relationships canvassed student-student relationships (e.g. classmate support, being accepted by others) and teacher-student relationships (e.g. fairness and friendliness of teachers). Parental attitudes to homework and school were studied. Views on the learning environment were probed with questions on help and encouragement received from teachers, group work in the classroom, access to remedial teaching or special education, and order in the classroom. In addition, the respondents were asked whether they had been bullied at school during the ongoing term and whether they themselves had bullied someone else. The survey also studied whether student opinions were taken into account in developing the school and in drawing up school rules (school democracy), and whether teachers encouraged students to express their views. Views were probed on whether the respondents felt they could follow the lessons, concentrate on their work, keep up with homework, and whether they knew their weaknesses and strengths in school matters, appreciated their school work, felt there were subjects at school and school clubs that interested them, had found a study method that suited them, and whether the pace of the lessons was suitable for them. Regarding health, the respondents were asked about their perceived general health and whether they had had various symptoms (e.g. stomach ache, sleeping problems, headache, depression, anxiety) during the ongoing term. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, grade, and class id.",
"fi": "Tässä aineistossa tarkastellaan 7-9-luokkalaisten, peruskoulua käyvien oppilaiden hyvinvointia koulussa. Kyselyn teemat ovat oppilaitoksen olosuhteet, sosiaaliset suhteet, itsensä toteuttamisen mahdollisuudet ja terveydentila. Kysymykset on esitetty väittäminä ja monivalintakysymyksinä. Väittämiä arvioidaan viisiportaisella asteikolla \"täysin samaa mieltä\" - \"täysin eri mieltä\". Koulun olosuhteita kartoittavat kysymykset liittyvät koulun tiloihin ja toimintaan. Oppilailta kysytään esimerkiksi luokkahuoneen koosta, lämpötilasta, ilmanvaihdosta, tilojen siisteydestä, wc-tiloista sekä pihan ja koulurakennuksen viihtyisyydestä ja turvallisuudesta. He arvioivat myös oppituntien työrauhaa, koulutyön määrän sopivuutta, koulun sääntöjen järkevyyttä, lukujärjestystä sekä onko terveydenhoitajan ja kuraattorin luo helppo päästä käymään. Oppilaat arvioivat myös, arvostavatko vanhemmat heidän koulutyötään, kannustavatko he menestymään koulussa ja auttavatko he tarvittaessa koulutehtävissä. Lisäksi kartoitetaan, onko vastaajaa kiusattu koulussa kuluvan lukukauden aikana ja onko hän itse osallistunut kiusaamiseen. Itsensä toteuttamisen mahdollisuuksiin liittyvät väittämät koskevat koulutyötä. Esimerkiksi kokeeko vastaaja, että opettajat rohkaisevat häntä ilmaisemaan mielipiteensä, huomioidaanko oppilaiden mielipiteet koulun kehittämisessä, onko vastaaja löytänyt itselleen sopivan opiskelutavan, arvostaako hän omaa koulutyötänsä ja saako hän tarvitessaan tukiopetusta. Terveydentilaa koskevissa kysymyksissä vastaaja arvioi onko hänellä ollut erilaisia oireita ja sairauksia (mm. vatsakipuja, vaikeuksia päästä uneen tai heräilemistä öisin, päänsärkyä, alakuloisuutta ja pelkoa) kuluvan lukukauden aikana.
