"en": "The data is obtained from model-scale experiments on shallow water ice-structure interaction. During the conducted experiments, a ten-meter wide initially intact ice sheet was pushed against a sloping structure of the same width. As the ice failed against the structure, a grounded rubble pile accumulated in front of it. The structure consisted of ten identical one-meter-wide segments and the horizontal load on each of these segments was measured independently with load cells. These measurements are presented as load-time datasets. The horizontal load acting on the false bottom was measured with load cells and are also presented as load-time datasets. Furthermore, the ice pressure on two of the segments was measured with tactile sensors. These pressure measurements are presented as array-based pressure-time datasets. Video footage filmed from two different video angles is included in the data. In addition, the coordinates of the rubble pile geometries at the end of each experiment are published. The data includes the top and side rubble pile geometries. In total, seven experiments were conducted. The data can be used by researchers, engineers and designers who work with ice structure interaction related issues in order to, for instance, optimize the design of offshore structures, improve ice load predictions or develop future experiments and simulations. A full description of the experimental set-up and the published data is submitted to the journal Data in Brief."

"en": "For this version, I've modified the HMAX code a bit to exactly match that of the original MATLAB code of Maximilian Riesenhuber. This is a bit slower and consumes a bit more memory, as the code needs to work around some subtle differences between the MATLAB and PyTorch functions. Perhaps in the future, we could add an \"optimized\" model that is allowed to deviate from the reference implementation for increased efficiency, but for now I feel it is more important to follow the reference implementation to the letter.\r\nMajor change: default C2 activation function is now 'euclidean' instead of 'gaussian'.\r\n\r\nThe title and description of this software/code correspond with the situation when the software metadata was imported to ACRIS. The most recent version of metadata is available in the original repository."

The txt files contain three columns: time (sec), coordinate x (pixels) and coordinate y (pixels). The scale factor between distance in millimeters and pixel is 1. 576482830 mm/pixel."

"en": "Research data to accommodate the article \"Overlay journals: a study of the current landscape\" (https://doi.org/10.1177/09610006221125208)\r\n\r\nIdentifying the sample of overlay journals was an explorative process (occurring during April 2021 to February 2022). The sample of investigated overlay journals were identified by using the websites of Episciences.org (2021), Scholastica (2021), Free Journal Network (2021), Open Journals (2021), PubPub (2022), and Wikipedia (2021). In total, this study identified 34 overlay journals. Please see the paper for more details about the excluded journal types.\r\n\r\nThe journal ISSN numbers, manuscript source repositories, first overlay volumes, article volumes, publication languages, peer-review type, licence for published articles, author costs, publisher types, submission policy, and preprint availability policy were observed by inspecting journal editorial policies and submission guidelines found from journal websites. The overlay journals’ ISSN numbers were identified by examining journal websites and cross-checking this information with the Ulrich’s periodicals database (Ulrichsweb, 2021). Journals that published review reports, either with reviewers’ names or anonymously, were classified as operating with open peer-review. Publisher types defined by Laakso and Björk (2013) were used to categorise the findings concerning the publishers. If the journal website did not include publisher information, the editorial board was interpreted to publish the journal.\r\n\r\nThe Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) field of science classification was used to categorise the journals into different domains of science. The journals’ primary OECD field of sciences were defined by the authors through examining the journal websites.\r\n\r\nWhether the journals were indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scopus, or Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science Core collection’s journal master list was examined by searching the services with journal ISSN numbers and journal titles.\r\n\r\nThe identified overlay journals were examined from the viewpoint of both qualitative and quantitative journal metrics. The qualitative metrics comprised the Nordic expert panel rankings of scientific journals, namely the Finnish Publication Forum, the Danish Bibliometric Research Indicator and the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers. Searches were conducted from the web portals of the above services with both ISSN numbers and journal titles. Clarivate Analytics’ Journal Citation Reports database was searched with the use of both ISSN numbers and journal titles to identify whether the journals had a Journal Citation Indicator (JCI), Two-Year Impact Factor (IF) and an Impact Factor ranking (IF rank). The examined Journal Impact Factors and Impact Factor rankings were for the year 2020 (as released in 2021)."

The results consist of aggregated networks of citations between scientific journals and their blocks inferred using a stochastic block model. See the article for details on the methods and data sources.\r\n\r\n\r\nNetwork construction\r\nThe article contains a detailed description of the network and block construction.\r\n\r\nThe full citation data is split into 10-year (1900s-1970s) and 5-year windows (after 1970s), and networks are constructed using only the data inside these windows. In each time window, a node corresponds to an <em>active</em> journal that has publications in the given time period. The connections between the journals are constructed using outgoing citations from these journals such that there is a directed link from journal <em>a</em> to journal <em>b</em> if an article in journal <em>a</em> cites an article in journal <em>b</em>, and the weight of this link is taken to be the number of such citations. For each time window only the contemporary citations satisfying the following two criteria are used:\r\n (1) the cited article is published in a journal that is active in the time window, and\r\n (2) the time difference between the citing and the cited article is shorter than the length of the window. \r\n\r\nThe results of this procedure are found in files named \"edgelist_level_0.txt\" and \"blocks_level_0.txt\". Higher levels are the results of fitting a hierarchical, degree-corrected stochastic blockmodel (as implemented in python package graph-tool, version 2.19dev) onto the networks at level_0.\r\n\r\n\r\nData format\r\nData for each time window is placed in a separate directory.\r\nFiles with filenames starting with 'edgelist_' contain one edge per line, in the format:\r\n\r\nsource target weight\r\n\r\nsource and target are zero-indexed numbers, representing blocks whose content can be found in files with filenames starting with 'blocks_'. Each line in 'blocks_' files contains a space-separated list of journals belonging to a block, and the line number they are at corresponds to the serial number of the block (note: since blocks are zero-indexed, line Nr 1 corresponds to block Nr 0, etc.).\r\n\r\nField assignments of each journal is given in files named 'blocks_fields.txt', in the same format as other 'blocks_' files. "en": "MaskMVS is a method for depth estimation for unstructured multi-view image-pose pairs. In the plane-sweep procedure, the depth planes are sampled by histogram matching that ensures covering the depth range of interest. Unlike other plane-sweep methods, we do not rely on a cost metric to explicitly build the cost volume, but instead infer a multiplane mask representation which regularizes the learning. Compared to many previous approaches, we show that our method is lightweight and generalizes well without requiring excessive training."

Valokuvien alkuperäiset negatiivit ovat Suomen valokuvataiteen museon kokoelmissa.\n\nVisuaalinen maisemaseuranta kertoo valokuvin maaseudun kulttuurimaisemien muuttumisesta Suomessa 2000-luvun aikana. Muutoksia voi seurata vertaamalla toisiinsa eri ajankohtina otettuja valokuvia samoista kohteista. Seuranta perustuu noin 5–10 vuoden välein otettuihin valokuviin, jotka havainnollistavat maisemassa tapahtuneita muutoksia. Seurannan aikana maaseutumaisemaa on taltioitu tuhansiin valokuviin.\nKuva-aineisto jakautuu kahteen osaan. Laajemman kokonaisuuden muodostavat vuodesta 1996 alkaen kuvatut peltomaisemat. Pääosa niistä sijaitsee valtakunnallisesti arvokkailla maisema-alueilla ja osa maatalouden ympäristötuen vaikuttavuuden seurannan tutkimusalueilla. Toinen aineisto koostuu 1990-luvun inventoinneissa luontoarvoiltaan merkittäviksi arvioiduista perinnebiotoopeista. Aineisto sisältää yhteensä yli 5 000 panoraamavalokuvaa sekä videoita ja 360° kuvia.\n\n### Kuvaukset peltomaisemissa\nViljelymaisemien visuaalisessa seurannassa kuvauksia on tehty yhteensä 13 alueella, joista kymmenen on valtakunnallisesti arvokkaita maisema-alueita. Lisäksi kuvauksia tehtiin Kolarissa vuonna 2010.\n\nKullakin alueella kuvauksia on tehty 7–13 karttatarkastelujen perusteella valitussa maastopisteessä. Samoista koordinaateista ja kuvakulmista otetut kuvat mahdollistavat maisemamuutosten seuraamisen. Jokaisesta maastopisteestä on otettu kuvat kohti kaikkia pääilmansuuntia.\n\nKuvaukset on toistettu samoissa kohteissa viiteen kertaan: vuosina 1996, 2000, 2005, 2010 ja 2020. Muutamilla alueilla täydentäviä kuvauksia on tehty myös vuosina 2001–2003. Vuoden 1996 kuva-aineistot ovat pääosin mustavalkoisia ja ne on otettu eri kuvakoossa kuin myöhemmät kuvat. Myöhempinä vuosina kerätyt kuva-aineistot ovat yhdenmukaisia keskenään. \n\nAlkuperäisiä kuvausmenetelmiä täydennettiin vuonna 2020 dronekuvauksilla. Dronen avulla viljelymaisemista tallennettiin pallopanoraamoja, 360 asteen videoita ja ylilentokuvia.\n\nSeurannan aikana maaseudun viljelymaisemista on kertynyt lähes 3 000 valokuvaa.\n\n### Kuvaukset perinnebiotoopeilla\nPerinnebiotooppien eli perinnemaisemien seurannassa kuvauksia on tehty 48 alueella, joista puolet sijaitsee Uudellamaalla ja puolet Pirkanmaalla. Kaikki kuvauskohteet on arvioitu luontoarvoiltaan merkittäviksi 1990-luvulla tehdyssä valtakunnallisessa perinnebiotooppien inventoinnissa. Ne sisältyvät myös Suomen ympäristökeskuksen tutkimukseen, jossa selvitettiin hoitotoimien vaikutusta perinnebiotooppien eliölajistoon.\n\nJokaisessa perinnebiotooppikohteessa kuvauksia on tehty neljässä maastopisteessä. Nämä pisteet on sijoitettu Suomen ympäristökeskuksen käyttämän 50x50 metrin koealan neljään kulmapisteeseen. Kustakin kulmapisteestä on otettu aina kaksi kuvaa, yksi kohti myötäpäivään seuraavaa kulmaa ja toinen kohti vastakkaista kulmapistettä. Yhdellä kuvauskerralla kustakin kohteesta on siten otettu kahdeksan kuvaa.\n\nKuvaukset on toistettu samoilla kohteilla pääsääntöisesti neljään kertaan: vuonna 2001, vuosina 2006–2007, vuosina 2011–2012 ja vuosina 2017–2019. Muutamilla alueilla kuvauksia on tehty myös välivuosina.\n\nSeurannan aikana perinnebiotoopeista on kertynyt lähes 2 500 valokuvaa.\n\n### Kuvaajat\nTaT Tapio Heikkilä käynnisti visuaalisen maisemaseurannan kuva-aineistojen keräämisen vuonna 1996. Hänen vuonna 2007 valmistunut väitöskirjatyönsä perustui näihin aineistoihin. Heikkilä teki pitkän uran maisemansuojeluun liittyvissä tehtävissä ympäristöministeriössä.\n\nTaM Martina Motzbäuchel on osallistunut vuodesta 2005 alkaen keskeisesti visuaalisen maisemaseurannan maastokuvauksiin ja kuva-aineistojen arkistoimiseen. Hän työskentelee free lance -valokuvaajana.\n\nOiva Hakala toimi Visuaalisen maisemaseurannan valokuvaajana vuodesta 1996 lähtien.\n\nTaM Antti Hahl toimi Visuaalisen maisemaseurannan valokuvaajana vuonna 2019.\n\nFT Reija Hietala osallistui hankkeen valmisteluun ja suunnitteluun työn eri vaiheissa."

"en": "The data is produced for the research project Ethnicity, Finland and Citizen’s Relationship to National Defense conducted at the University of Defence. The aim of the research is to examine how those participating in conscript service view national defense and contemporary Finland. Among themes of interest are perceptions of Finland, sense of belonging to Finland, but also the experiences and views of military service.\n\nThe data generation was planned by the PI (Teemu Tallberg) and the researcher working in the project (Elina Paju). Tallberg and Paju conducted the first 6 interviews. The last 6 interviews were conducted by Paju and Iida Kulmala, who worked as a research assistant in the project.\n\nThe data consists of altogether 12 group interviews with Finnish conscripts conducted in different garrisons during 2023. Each interview comprises of 6–14 conscripts, with an average of 10 taking part in the interview. All of the interviewees had completed their basic training (6 weeks) and many were on the last part of their service. The staff in the garrisons decided who was selected for the interviews. The topics discussed were experiences in military training and positive and negative aspects of service, where the conscripts felt they belonged, the homes of the conscripts and what consists a home. Discussed themes also revolved around Finland : what in Finland the conscripts thought was worth defending, and possible threats Finland is currently facing. The group interviews ended with discussions about future scenarios: what kind of future the conscripts expected for Finland and for themselves. \n\nAs a part of the interviews, the conscripts assembled collages in small groups of 2–3 of images representing Finland. The images (CC0 license) were selected by the researchers mainly from the data archive Finna.fi. Some of the images were photographs taken by the PI of the project.\n\nThe interviews (both the group discussions and the discussion in the small groups working on the collages representing Finland were audio-recorded in mp3 format and transcribed and stored in Word format. The collages were photographed and stored in JPEG-format. The data is stored in files indicating the order of the interview.\n\nAccess to the data is restricted and only the researchers working in the project have access to it. The PI or the Director of Research at the National Defence University (NDU) may grant permission to parts of the pseudonymized data. The data includes descriptions of military training from several branches, and the access is restricted based on national security. Besides this, the data includes personal information classified as sensitive, such as mentions of religious beliefs and ethnicity. Moreover, the data includes descriptions of the participants’ places of origin, which might make them recognizable from the data."
