"en": "Abstract Background It is known that blood levels of neurofilament light (NF-L) and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) are both associated with outcome of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Here, we sought to examine the association between admission levels of plasma NF-L and white matter (WM) integrity in post-acute stage DW-MRI in patients with mTBI. Methods Ninety-three patients with mTBI (GCS ≥ 13), blood sample for NF-L within 24 h of admission, and DW-MRI ≥ 90 days post-injury (median = 229) were included. Mean fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD) were calculated from the skeletonized WM tracts of the whole brain. Outcome was assessed using the Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOSE) at the time of imaging. Patients were divided into CT-positive and -negative, and complete (GOSE = 8) and incomplete recovery (GOSE < 8) groups. Results The levels of NF-L and FA correlated negatively in the whole cohort (p = 0.002), in CT-positive patients (p = 0.016), and in those with incomplete recovery (p = 0.005). The same groups showed a positive correlation with mean MD, AD, and RD (p < 0.001—p = 0.011). In CT-negative patients or in patients with full recovery, significant correlations were not found. Conclusion In patients with mTBI, the significant correlation between NF-L levels at admission and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) measurements of diffuse axonal injury (DAI) over more than 3 months suggests that the early levels of plasma NF-L may associate with the presence of DAI at a later phase of TBI."

"en": "Polarized and nonpolarized Twitter networks from the 2019 Finnish Parliamentary Elections This dataset includes 183 Twitter retweet networks collected during the 2019 Finnish Parliamentary Elections. The first 150 networks are built around single hashtags, such as #police, #nature, and #immigration. The remaining 33 networks are constructed using a combination of hashtags focused on specific topics like climate change and economic policy. Each filename consists of two parts: the first part indicates whether the network is based on a single hashtag (in lowercase) or a set of hashtags (in uppercase). The second part represents the tweet period. \"p1\" corresponds to the pre-election period (March 1 to April 14). \"p2\" corresponds to the inter-election period (April 15 to May 26). \"p3\" corresponds to the post-election period (May 27 to July 31). The nodes in the networks represent anonymized Twitter accounts, and directed ties indicate retweet endorsements on specific topics. Each file contains three columns: retweeter, retweeted, and weight. Please see the references for more details. Network labels, whether they are labeled as controversial, and whether they are based on single or multiple hashtags, can be found in the \"networks_info.csv\" file. Importantly, the dataset does not contain any identifying information or original raw data from the Twitter platform. Anonymization was achieved by shuffling the order of unique nodes across all networks and assigning each node a new identifier (ID). "en": "The ODA project in Finland focused on building digital social and health services to support self-care. This survey studied the expectations and experiences of social and health care professionals regarding the digitalised services provided by the project. Most respondents were health professionals working in the municipalities, social and health care areas, and hospital districts participating in the project. Similar data collected from managers/directors are available in FSD3320. The ODA digital services make use of information entered into the system by professionals and of information entered by patients/clients themselves on their personal well-being. For people who are willing to use digitalised services for their own self-care, the services provide well-being check-ups and training, assessment of symptoms and well-being, and care plans for those in need of long-term care or services. ODA is part of the Competent Workforce for the Future (COPE) project, funded by the Academy of Finland. Survey questions investigated whether the respondents felt they had received sufficient information of the future ODA services, their views on the services, expectations of changes service implementation would bring, and how the digital services would affect their work, professional role and patients/clients. Benefits and challenges were estimated, as well as expectations on how the implementation would go in practise. The respondents were also asked whether they had participated in the planning and developing of the services. Background variables included the respondent's age group, gender, occupation, as well as the type of organisation and municipality or district where they worked."

"en": "The study charted Finnish diabetes, heart and cancer patients' experiences of using eHealth services in 2017. Main themes included usefulness of the online services as well as frequency and purpose of use. Each group of patients was provided with a unique questionnaire, although most questions were repeated in all questionnaires. Responses to the common questions were combined in the data, and group-specific questions were marked with letters. The data were collected as part of the Competent workforce for the future (COPE) project funded by Academy of Finland. The purpose of the research was to establish how citizens and health care professionals can be supported in using eHealth services. First, the respondents were asked to assess the usefulness of different eHealth services such as Omakanta.fi (personal health records and prescriptions), digital private health care services and public eHealth services. Usefulness of different online services that provide health-related information, such as Duodecim Käypähoito.fi (Current Care Guidelines, clinical practice guidelines) and Terveyskirjasto.fi (information on health, medication and care guidelines), was also examined. The respondents were asked about their purposes for using eHealth services, for example, assessment of treatment need, contacting health care professionals, and connecting with peers for support. Questions on the support and guidance provided by the public sector in the use of eHealth services were also presented. Finally, the respondents were asked multiple open-ended questions that related to their positive and negative experiences of using eHealth services as well as the kinds of digital health services they would want to use in the future. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, and municipality of residence (classified), as well as whether they or their child had diabetes (diabetes patients only) or other information on their health (heart and cancer patients)."

Valmentajille suunnattujen haastattelukysymysten avulla tiedusteltiin valmennuspalveluiden kehittämisen prosessista sekä työllistämishankkeeseen liittyen kokemuksia asiakastyöstä ja erilaisista yhteistyökuvioista. Tavoitteena oli ymmärtää hankkeen toimintaa ja työpajan asiakaspolkuun liittyvän kehitystyön prosessia, sen herättämiä ajatuksia, toiveita ja tavoitteita. Valmentautujien haastatteluissa puolestaan kysyttiin muun muassa kokemuksia työpajalla työskentelystä, työpajatoiminnasta yleisesti, valmennuksesta sekä tulevaisuudensuunnitelmista. Valmentajan ja valmennettavien välisten yksilövalmennuskeskusteluiden havainnoinnin tarkoituksena oli seurata asiakaspolkua ja valmennusprosessia sen eri vaiheissa. Aineistossa esiintyviä aiheita ovat muun muassa pitkäaikaistyöttömyys, työllistymisen edistäminen, kuntoutus, Green Care, toimijuuden tukeminen ja sosiaalinen vuorovaikutus. Taustatietoina ovat päivämäärä, aineistotyyppi, osallistujat sekä tieto siitä, miksi henkilö on työpajassa. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata."

"en": "The survey charting neighbour relations and disputes was funded by the Academy of Finland ('The Future of Living and Housing' programme, 'Neighbour Disputes and Housing in Finland' project). Concerning interaction with neighbours, the respondents were asked how often they visited, spent time with, helped and had conversations with their neighbours as well as how many neighbours they greeted and talked to when encountering them. Social networks were surveyed with questions about how many friends the respondents had in different groups (relatives, study/work community, neighbourhood, hobbies, other group) as well as the number of people in these groups they had difficulty getting along with. The respondents' perceptions of their neighbours, their neighbourhood, and themselves as neighbours were charted by asking to what extent they agreed with a number of statements (e.g. \"My neighbours can generally be trusted\", \"There is a number of different social problems in my neighbourhood\", \"If my neighbour causes disturbances, I will speak to them directly about it\"). Some statements were presented to probe opinions on what good neighbour relations should be like (\"Nowadays people care less about their neighbours than they used to\"). Regarding disturbances and nuisance caused by neighbours, the respondents were asked what kind of problems they had experienced (e.g. noise from renovation, loud parties, cigarette smoke, gossiping, boundary disputes), how easily they intervened with problems in the neighbourhood, and what their reaction would be if they were told that they cause disturbances to the neighbours. Neighbour disputes and their resolution was charted with questions about the frequency of disputes between the neighbours, own involvement in the disputes, ways used to attempt to resolve the dispute, whether the respondents had ever moved house because of difficult neighbours, and whether the respondents had ever contacted or planned to contact the authorities because of a neighbour dispute. Those respondents who had planned to contact or had contacted the authorities were asked at which point in a neighbour dispute they would contact them. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, household composition, economic activity, education, monthly gross income, self-perceived health status and quality of life as well as housing tenure, type of accommodation, years lived in the accommodation, type of neighbourhood, and municipality type."

Kysely on osa Media-alan tutkimussäätiön rahoittamaa Tulevaisuuden media-arki nuorten kuvittelemana -hanketta, jonka toteuttivat yhteistyössä Tampereen yliopiston Comet-tutkimuskeskus sekä Aalto-yliopiston informaatioverkoston koulutusohjelma. Aluksi vastaajille esitettiin kysymyksiä koskien heidän käyttämiään mediateknisiä laitteita ja sosiaalisen median sovelluksia. Heiltä esimerkiksi tiedusteltiin, minkälaisia laitteita ja sovelluksia he säännöllisesti käyttävät sekä mihin tarkoitukseen. Seuraavaksi esitettiin kysymyksiä koskien vastaajien kokemuksia oman mediankäytön muuttamisesta sekä sen mahdollisesta rajoittamisesta. Edelleen vastaajia pyydettiin kuvailemaan, millä tapaa he ovat omaan mediankäyttöönsä tyytyväisiä tai tyytymättömiä. Kyselyn lopuksi pyrittiin vielä kartoittamaan vastaajien toiveita liittyen tulevaisuuden mediaan. Taustamuuttujina aineistossa ovat syntymävuosi, sukupuoli, maakunta, perhemuoto, koulutus ja pääasiallinen toiminta."

"en": "This survey charted Finnish experiences of loneliness. The survey was conducted by the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in 2014 (N: 27,851). Themes of the survey included, among others, the circumstances and consequences of loneliness, satisfaction with life and well-being. The survey included an open-ended question q9 \"What does loneliness feel like?\", which can be utilised in qualitative analysis. Open-ended responses are only available in Finnish. First, the circumstances and consequences of loneliness in the respondents' lives were examined. The number of the respondents' close friends, i.e. friends with whom they could share the good and bad in life in confidence, was surveyed. The respondents were asked in which situations they had experienced loneliness in the past two years (e.g. with their spouse, children or friends, during holidays, at work) as well as in which stages of life they had experienced loneliness (e.g. as a child or an adult). They were also asked whether they had experienced loneliness during a specific season of the year in the past two years. The consequences of loneliness were charted with questions relating to whether the respondents had experienced, for example, frequent illnesses, unemployment, gambling, comfort eating or depression because of loneliness. Next, factors that had significantly helped the respondents alleviate loneliness in the past two years were surveyed (e.g. alcohol or drug use, the Internet, eating, immersing themselves in work, taking care of pets or other animals, exercise, time spent with family or friends). Feelings of loneliness, depression, failure, happiness and being loved or in love in the past 12 months were charted. Additionally, the respondents were asked how well various statements described them. The statements included, for instance, that the respondents felt unhappy because they were doing things alone, felt that no one really understood them, felt that it was hard for them to make friends, thought that they lived a goal-oriented and meaningful life, thought that they were a good person and lived a good life, and thought that others respected them. The respondents' satisfaction with specific domains of life, such as standard of living, personal health and personal safety, was also examined. Finally, the respondents' well-being was surveyed with questions on, for example, smoking, alcohol use, exercise habits and weight loss. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, marital status, age, weight, height, sufficiency of income, highest level of education, subjective social class, NUTS3 region of residence and municipality of residence for municipalities with over 34,000 inhabitants."

"en": "The survey study charted housing preferences of residents in rural-urban fringe areas of the Finnish towns Kajaani, Oulu, Seinäjoki and Tampere. The study is part of the Academy of Finland's \"Future of Living and Housing\" (ASU-LIVE) research programme, and the Academy has also funded the study. The first questions examined the respondents' current household composition and type of accommodation, possible holiday home, and whether they have had control over the build materials, plumbing and heating in their accommodation. More detailed questions were asked about the type of heating in the accommodation as well as energy efficiency. Respondents were asked to assess their residential area in terms of overall satisfaction, personal safety, traffic safety, street lighting, peacefulness, closeness to nature, reputation, construction density, and public transport. It was also enquired whether new buildings in the residential area fit in with older buildings and the landscape, as well as whether new housing had made the residential area better in terms of services and public transport, for example. Next, the respondents' work commute distance and duration were charted as well as the mode of transportation to work. Perceived distance and the chosen mode of transportation from home to different types of services was also examined. Satisfaction with traffic infrastructure was examined with questions regarding, for instance, whether it is necessary to own a car in the residential area and whether roads as well as pedestrian and bicycle paths are in good condition. The respondents' rationale for choosing their current residential area was examined extensively with different types of questions and attitudinal statements. They were also asked about the type of residential area that they would live in if they could choose freely. Finally, views on urban and rural life and identity were charted. Background variables included gender, age, household composition, type of accommodation, education, and economic activity."

"en": "The study charted the facilitation of research in digital humanities centres in Finland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The aim of the study was to find the best practices for facilitating digital humanities research and to share the practices with other organizations that conduct similar research. The study includes eight expert interviews: six in English and two in Finnish. The data were collected as part of the project \"From Roadmap to Roadshow: A collective demonstration and information project to strengthen Finnish digital history\", funded by Kone Foundation. The participants were asked questions about the digital humanities centres they worked at, relating to general aspects (e.g. goals and funding) of their centre, the staff and other people involved, collaboration and communication, infrastructure, and physical environment. Additionally, the questions aimed to gather ideas on how to make digital research methods more widely known, how to involve more people in the facilitation of digital research and how to develop multidisciplinary research. The participants also discussed the obstacles they had encountered in facilitating digital research. The data display the real names of the interviewed experts. The names and locations of their organizations as well as the time and location of the interview are also included in the background variables. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML index at FSD. The dataset is only available in the original languages (Finnish and English)."

"en": "BackgroundAgeing of the population increases the prevalence and coexistence of many chronic diseases; a condition called multimorbidity. In Finland, information on the significance of multimorbidity and its relation to the sustainability of healthcare is scarce.AimTo assess the prevalence of multimorbidity, the transitions between patient groups with and without multiple diseases and the associated healthcare cost in Finland in 2017–2019.MethodsA register-based cohort study covering all adults (n = 3,326,467) who used Finnish primary or specialised healthcare services in 2017. At baseline, patients were classified as ‘non-multimorbid’, ‘multimorbid’ or ‘multimorbid at risk’ based on the recordings of a diagnosis of interest. The costs were calculated using the care-related patient grouping and national standard rates. Transition plots were drawn to observe the transition of patients and costs between groups during the two-year follow-up.ResultsAt baseline, 62% of patients were non-multimorbid, 23% multimorbid and 15% multimorbid at risk. In two years, the proportion of multimorbid patients increased, especially those at risk. Within the multimorbid at-risk group, total healthcare costs were greatest (€5,027 million), accounting for 62% of the total healthcare cost of the overall patient cohort in 2019. Musculoskeletal diseases, cardiometabolic diseases and tumours were the most common and expensive chronic diseases contributing to the onset of multimorbidity.ConclusionMultimorbidity is causing a heavy burden on Finnish healthcare. The estimates of its effect on healthcare usage and costs should be used to guide healthcare planning."

"en": "These data refer to the second test campaign of the SHIVER project, conducted in the Ice and Wave tank of Aalto University in spring 2023.Basin tests were performed to gather data on ice action, ice-structure interaction and ice scaling to predict ice-induced vibration of offshore structures (e.g., offshore wind turbines, lighthouses, channel markers).Tests were conducted with a real-time hybrid test setup, which had been used during the first test campaign of the SHIVER project (go to publication, go to data). Small modification of the setup allowed to test substructures with different diameters and shape at the water line and improved data reliability.Detailed explanations of the test setup, test matrix, and test results are provided in a manuscript submitted to the journal Cold Regions Science and Technology. "en": "This dataset is from the paper \\\\\"Analysing change in music therapy interactions of children with communication difficulties\\\\\" by Neta Spiro and Tommi Himberg. (http://dx.doi.org/10.1098/rstb.2015.0374) This dataset contains timings and labels of 5 pairs of annotation files. Each pair of files contains annotations of pairs of videos of 1-to-1 music therapy sessions recorded at the Nordoff Robbins London Centre. The annotations and co-rater annotations were made by two qualified Nordoff Robbins Music Therapists with experience in research Sarah Boyce and Camilla Farrant, working in the Research Team, Nordoff Robbins, London Centre, UK. The annotators watched the videos and listened to the soundtrack through headphones independently and inserted annotations in the software ELAN (Wittenburg P, Brugman H, Russel A, Klassmann A, Sloetjes H. 2006.
