"en": "This dataset contains a collection of raw processing data, spectroscopic data, and laboratory test results of medical-grade polymer extrusion experiments. The data was collected in several experiments conducted in a hot-melt extrusion process. The process involved extruding PLA through a slit die and drawing the extruded strands onto spools to obtain the desired dimensional and mechanical properties. The strands were later knitted to form the final medical implant. Throughout the experiments, the extrusion process and equipment were upgraded and refined. Various operational scenarios were simulated under different nozzle configurations. The experiments start using a single-screw extruder and later progress to a double-screw extruder. Medical Grade PURASORB PLA (PLDLA 96/4) material was used when the hardware upgrades were complete. This dataset contains many variations in experimental conditions. However, enough overlap exists to derive working datasets from this compiled raw data. Two working datasets have been derived from this compiled raw data. Using a double-screw extruder, both working Datasets investigate polymer degradation in the hot-melt extrusion process. Both derived datasets are included in this collection. Two Jupyter notebooks are included in this data collection. The first notebook gives an example of how an initial dataset can be derived from the raw data using data science techniques. The second notebook gives an example of how a final dataset can be created from the initial dataset."

"en": "Positive supercoiling buildup (PSB) is a pervasive phenomenon in the transcriptional programs of Escherichia coli. After finding a range of Gyrase concentrations where the inverse of the transcription rate of a chromosome-integrated gene changes linearly with the inverse of Gyrase concentration, we apply a Line Weaver-Burk plot to dissect the expected in vivo transcription rate in absence of PSB. We validate the estimation by time-lapse microscopy of single-RNA production kinetics of the same gene when single-copy plasmid-borne, shown to be impervious to Gyrase inhibition. Next, we estimate the fraction of time in locked states and number of transcription events prior to locking, which we validate by measurements under Gyrase inhibition. Replacing the gene of interest by one with slower transcription rate decreases the fraction of time in locked states due to PSB. Finally, we combine data from both constructs to infer a range of possible transcription initiation locking kinetics in a chromosomal location, obtainable by tuning the transcription rate. We validate with measurements of transcription activity at different induction levels. This strategy for dissecting transcription initiation locking kinetics due to PSB can contribute to resolve the transcriptional programs of E. coli and in the engineering of synthetic genetic circuits."

"en": "Aineisto koostuu monikulttuuristen perheiden huoltajilta kerätyistä tiedoista liittyen lasten hoitojärjestelyihin ja varhaiskasvatusratkaisuihin. Aineisto on osa monitieteistä Jyväskylän ja Tampereen yliopistojen sekä Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen yhteistyössä toteuttamaa Tasa-arvon kysymykset lasten varhaiskasvatuksen, esiopetuksen ja hoidon tukien järjestelmässä -hanketta (CHILDCARE).\r\n\r\nHaastatteluissa kysyttiin aluksi lapsen ja perheen arjesta. Sen jälkeen kysyttiin perusteluita lastenhoidon ratkaisuille, esimerkiksi miten ja miksi on päädytty nykyiseen ratkaisuun. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin, millaista tukea ja apua vastaajat ovat saaneet lastenhoitoon ja sen ratkaisuihin liittyen. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin työn ja perheen yhteensovittamisesta sekä lastenhoitoon liittyvästä päätöksenteosta perheessä. Lopuksi kysyttiin perhevapaajärjestelmän ja varhaiskasvatuksen ajankohtaisista aiheista, kuten lasten kotihoidon tuen puolittamisesta vanhemmille, ja pyydettiin pohtimaan tulevaisuutta, millaista lapsen elämä on mahdollisesti 4-vuotiaana.\r\n\r\nHaastatteluista seitsemän on suomeksi ja viisi englanniksi. Taustatietoina ovat luokiteltuina koulutustausta ja ikä sekä kuntaluokitus. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata."

The dataset is available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5729573, and this upload provides path traced reference frames for it in PNG format. The images are rendered with Tauray at 16384 samples per pixel (spp), at both 1080p and 2160p resolutions. Frame indices start from 0 and are not padded with leading zeroes. More information about TauBench is also available at https://webpages.tuni.fi/vga/taubench."

This study used 48 DNA methylation datasets, including DILGOM, FTC, ERMA, KORA, LURIC, NELLI, SATSA and YFS as well as 39 datasets available in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) [29] consisting of >30 tissues and >30,000 individuals. "en": "Escherichia coli uses s factors to quickly control large gene cohorts during stress conditions. While most of its genes respond to a single s factor, approximately 5% of them have dual s factor preference. The most common are those responsive to both s70, which controls housekeeping genes, and s38, which activates genes during stationary growth and stresses. Using RNA-seq and flow-cytometry measurements, we show that 'σ70+38 genes' are nearly as upregulated in stationary growth as 'σ38 genes'. Moreover, we find a clear quantitative relationship between their promoter sequence and their response strength to changes in σ38 levels. We then propose and validate a sequence dependent model of σ70+38 genes, with dual sensitivity to s38 and s70, that is applicable in the exponential and stationary growth phases, as well in the transient period in between. We further propose a general model, applicable to other stresses and σ factor combinations. Given this, promoters controlling σ70+38 genes (and variants) could become important building blocks of synthetic circuits with predictable, sequence-dependent sensitivity to transitions between the exponential and stationary growth phases."

"en": "Speciation is a fundamental evolutionary process, which results in genetic differentiation of populations and manifests as discrete morphological, physiological as well as behavioral differences. Each species has had its own evolutionary trajectory, formed by many types of selection pressures and random drift, making it extremely complicated to associate genetic differences between the species with the phenotypic differences. In the present study, we have used an in vitro model to analyze in depth the genetic and gene regulation differences between fibroblasts of two closely related mammals, arctic/subarctic mountain hare (Lepus timidus Linnaeus) and a temperate, steppe-like climate adapted brown hare (Lepus europaeus Pallas). We discovered the existence of a species-specific expression pattern of 1,623 genes, manifesting in differences in cell growth, respiration, and metabolism. Interspecific differences in the housekeeping functions of fibroblast cells suggest speciation acts on fundamental processes, even in these two interfertile species. Our results help to understand the molecular constituents of a species difference on a cellular level, which could contribute to the maintenance of the species boundary."

The data was collected from 20 participants at different sessions for 26 hours. The data includes 7 different signal types, including both computer vision and physiological features that can be used to detect stress. In addition, various experiments were conducted to validate the signal quality."
