"en": "The dataset consists of 165 texts on experiences of being unemployed in Finland. The texts are written in varying styles and lengths. Data collection was conducted in collaboration by the Finnish Literature Society and Lena Näre. The invitation to write directed the participants to write about their own experiences of unemployment or how they had experienced the unemployment of someone close to them. Main themes in many of the texts included the reasons behind unemployment, such as sickness, temporary layoffs, and job contract terminations. The texts described everyday life during unemployment and how becoming employed again had affected the participants' quality of life. Employment services were also discussed in the writings. The Finnish activation model for unemployment security was still in effect during data collection (repealed at the beginning of 2020), so the writers were able to discuss their experiences relating to the model. Background information included the participant's name or pseudonym, occupation, year of birth, area of residence and gender. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD. The dataset is only available in Finnish.",
"fi": "Työttömän tarina -kirjoituskilpailulla kartoitettiin työttömyyttä kokeneiden suomalaisten ajatuksia siitä, millaista on olla työtön Suomessa. Tämä laaja aineisto sisältää 165 vastaajan kirjoitukset koskien työttömyyttä, työnhakua ja toimeentuloa. Kirjoitukset vaihtelevat niin tyyliltään kuin pituudeltaan. Keruu järjestettiin Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran ja Lena Näreen yhteistyönä. Kilpailussa jaettiin raha- ja kirjapalkintoja. Kilpailukutsussa ohjeistettiin kertomaan omista kokemuksista työttömyyteen liittyen tai miltä esimerkiksi läheisen työttömyys on tuntunut. Useissa kirjoituksissa käydään läpi työttömyyteen johtaneita tapahtumia kuten sairastumista, lomautuksia ja irtisanomisia. Kirjoituksissa kuvaillaan työttömyysjaksojen aikaista arkea sekä mahdollisen työllistymisen aikaansaamaa muutosta kirjoittajan elämänlaadussa. Kirjoituskutsussa pyydettiin näkemyksiä myös työllistämistoimenpiteistä ja työttömille suunnatuista palveluista. Osassa kirjoituksia käsitellään työttömyyttä yhteiskunnallisella tasolla oman arjen tarkastelun lisäksi. Keruu ajoittui niin, että kirjoittajilla on kokemusta myös työvoimapoliittisesta aktiivimallista. Taustatietoina kysyttiin vastaajan nimeä tai nimimerkkiä, ammattia, syntymäaikaa, postitoimipaikkaa ja sukupuolta. Aineistosta on tehty jatkokäyttäjälle html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata."

"en": "This dataset originates from my Master’s research on Frédéric Mistral’s geopoetics. It provides a systematic toponymic inventory of four of Mistral’s major narrative works (Mirèio, Calendau, Lou Pouèmo dóu Rose, Nerto), which are central to 19th-century Occitan literature. It includes a quantitative overview of the entries for each work. The toponyms, transcribed in their original Provençal spellings, are categorised according to type (water, relief, urban, etc.), localisation (Provence, France outside Provence, outside France), and narrative level (intradiegetic, extradiegetic, metadiegetic). They were collected through a systematic exploration of the complete works. The quantitative overview method is detailed in the README file. This resource is intended for scholars in 19th-century literature, Occitan studies, historical sociolinguistics, and European national awakening movements. The dataset can support literary analysis, digital humanities projects, as well as research in cultural geography and toponymy."

"en": "We study mechanisms that link preterm birth at very low birth weight with adult health. To do so, we compare adults born preterm at very low birth weight with their siblings born at term. 79 same sex sibling pairs were included in the study, with one being born preterm at very low birth weight (< 1500 grams) and the other at term. The very low birth weight individuals were born between 1978–1990 in Finland’s capital region, areas surrounding Turku and Tampere, or in Northern Finland.\nBetween 2014–2017 the sibling pairs underwent extensive clinical examinations over several days (e.g. magnetic resonance imaging, neuropsychological examination, tissue- and blood samples, exercise and muscle strength testing). Further information regarding their birth, pregnancy and childhood development was collected from hospital and patient records. \n\nWe have analyzed epigenome-wide DNA methylation from blood, adipose and muscle tissue with Infinium Human Methylation EPIC BeadChip array (850 K) v1.0. Anthropometrics were measured and a 2-h 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) was performed. Health related behaviors, such as smoking, alcohol consumption and physical activity, was collected via questionnaires. Physical fitness was measured with incremental cycle ergometer test.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa selvitämme mekanismeja, joiden kautta hyvin pienenä keskosena syntyminen on yhteydessä aikuisiän terveyteen ja hyvinvointiin. Tutkimukseen osallistuu sisaruspareja, joista toinen on syntynyt alle 1500 g painavana keskosena ja toinen täysiaikaisena. Tutkimuksessa on mukana 79 samaa sukupuolta olevaa sisarusparia, joista toinen on syntynyt pikkukeskosena (syntymäpaino < 1500 g) ja toinen täysiaikaisena. Pikkukeskosena syntyneet tutkittavat ovat syntyneet vuosina 1978–1990 pääkaupunkiseudulla, Turun ja Tampereen seuduilla ja Pohjois-Suomessa.\nVuosien 2014–2017 aikana tutkittavat kävivät kattavissa kliinisissä tutkimuksissa usean päivän aikana (ml. magneettikuvaus, neuropsykologinen tutkimus, kudos- ja verinäytteitä sekä liikunta- ja lihasvoimamittauksia), ja heiltä kerättiin raskautta, syntymää ja lapsuuden kasvua ja kehitystä koskevat tiedot sairauskertomuksista.\n\nEpigenomin laajuinen DNA-metylaatio analysoitiin verestä, rasvakudoksesta ja lihaskudoksesta käyttäen menetelmää Infinium Human Methylation EPIC BeadChip (850K) 1.0. Kehon koko ja kehonkoostumus mitattiin. Lisäksi tutkittavat läpikävivät 2 tunnin glukoosirasituskokeen (75g, OGTT). Terveyskäyttäytymiseen liittyviä tietoja, kuten tupakointi, alkoholin käyttö ja fyysinen aktiivisuus, kerättiin kyselylomakkeilla. Fyysinen kunto mitattiin polkupyöräergometritestillä."

"en": "The school health promotion study, conducted by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, examines the well-being, health, and school life of children and young people of different ages. This dataset consists of responses to the 2019 survey by eight- and ninth-graders in basic education and first- and second-year students in upper secondary education. The respondents filled out the questionnaire during the school day at their school or educational institution. The language options for the survey were Finnish, Swedish, Russian, English, and North Sámi. First, the respondents' opinions on school in general, their class/group, and the teachers were examined. The respondents were asked whether they had had the possibility to influence various things at their school during the present school year. Questions also surveyed how the respondents felt about recesses and breaks, whether they were experiencing difficulties in school, and whether something had bothered them at school. School bullying was examined with questions on whether the respondents had been bullied or had bullied others during the present semester, whether they had told anyone if they had been bullied, and what had happened after they had reported it. The respondents' physical and mental health, social relationships, and dating and sexual health were also charted. Next, the respondents' habits regarding brushing their teeth, sleeping, and physical exercise were surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they used tobacco products, alcohol, or other substances, and how they had gotten the substances they had used. Harassment, sexual harassment, and violence experienced by the respondents were also examined. The respondents were asked whether they had received help or services from a school nurse, physician, social worker or psychologist, and how easy it had been to get help. Finally, the respondents' relationship with their family and how they spent their leisure time were charted. Background variables included the respondent's NUTS3 region of residence, official and perceived gender, year of birth, whether R was a minor, grade in school, living arrangements (categorised), background based on R's and their parents' country of birth (categorised), and how long R had lived in Finland.",

Tämä aineisto sisältää 8. ja 9. luokkien oppilaiden sekä lukioiden ja ammattioppilaitosten 1. ja 2. vuoden opiskelijoiden vastaukset vuoden 2019 kyselyyn. Kyselyyn on vastattu koulussa tai oppilaitoksessa opiskelupäivän aikana ja kielivaihtoehtoina ovat olleet suomi, ruotsi, venäjä, englanti ja pohjoissaame. Lisäksi kysyttiin seurustelusta ja seksuaaliterveydestä. Kysely kattoi myös avunsaannin esimerkiksi kouluterveydenhoitajalla, -kuraattorilla tai -psykologilla. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, onko vastaajalla ystäviä, millaiseksi vastaaja kokee perhesuhteensa sekä miten hän viettää vapaa-aikaansa. Vapaa-aikaan liittyen kysyttiin muun muassa kulttuurista, liikunnasta ja internetin käytöstä. Edelleen kyselyssä selvitettiin, onko vastaaja kokenut henkistä väkivaltaa, fyysistä väkivaltaa tai seksuaalista häirintää yleisesti tai perheessään. Taustamuuttujina ovat maakunta, virallinen ja koettu sukupuoli, syntymävuosi, alaikäisyys, luokka-aste, asumisjärjestelyt luokiteltuna, syntyperä luokiteltuna syntymämaan sekä vanhempien syntymämaiden perusteella sekä tieto siitä, kauanko vastaaja on asunut Suomessa."

"en": "This resource is available for download in Kielipankki – the Language Bank of Finland. \n\nLILABI (Linguistic Landscape of Bishkek) provides the largest open-access dataset of linguistic landscape for Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan.\nThe dataset comprises images of 511 unique signs in Bishkek, presented in 12 languages, primarily Russian, Kyrgyz, and English. Each file name starts with the coordinates where the photograph was taken, followed by the name of the photograph.\nThe data were collected between October 19 and 27, 2024, during a field trip to Bishkek organized by the HALS (Helsinki Diversity Linguistics Group).\nFor ethical reasons, the people and plates in the photographs were manually cleaned up.\nThe metadata was manually prepared for the languages and alphabets they contain, in addition to the concept of the sign, such as restaurant or bank. You can link the photographs to the metadata by using the \"name\" key in the metadata file."

"en": "This data set contains QUINCY simulation data and observational data for the manuscript \"Evaluating the carbon and nitrogen cycles of the QUINCY terrestrial biosphere model using space-born optical remotely-sensed data\", submitted to the Biogeosciences journal. The observation data includes in-situ observations of fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (fAPAR) for the Sodankylä site, and post-processed remote sensing leaf chlorophyll content data for the PLUMBER2 and GLOBAL sites. The post-processed remote sensing leaf chlorophyll data is based on the global leaf chlorophyll product by Dr. H. Croft (See Croft et al., 2020), and the product is derived from the MERIS satellite data.\n\nThe data set includes QUINCY simulation data for the PLUMBER2 and GLOBAL sites. Depending on the site, the simulated data covers years 1989-2018. The in-situ fAPAR for the Sodankylä site is for years 2021--2024. The post-processed remote sensing chlorophyll is for years 2003-2011, depending on the site."

"en": "The survey investigated aspects of cottage living, such as energy use in cottages and travel related to cottage visits. The aim was to assess the resulting carbon footprint and examine how the energy and economic situation between 2021 and 2023 affected leisure housing. The survey was conducted as part of the Carbon Footprint of Second Homes project, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (Island Committee) and the Ministry of the Environment. The project also involved collaboration with the Freetime Apartment Owners' Association (VAAL ry) and the Finnish Home Owners' Association (Suomen Omakotiliitto ry). Respondents were first asked about the decade in which their cottage was built, its intended use, and the distance to their permanent residence. Travel-related questions focused on the usual modes of transport, the energy source of any personal vehicle used, and whether there had been changes in travel habits or frequency over the past year. The survey also examined the number and nature of day trips made from the cottage. Further questions addressed the annual fuel consumption of tools, machines, and other equipment used at the cottage. Respondents were asked about available power sources, the main heating method, and any additional heating systems. The survey also inquired whether heating was continuously used during the winter season of 2022/2023 and whether this differed from the previous year. In addition, respondents were asked whether any changes had been made to energy use or whether new power or heating sources had been acquired during the past year. The final section of the survey focused on cottage usage. Respondents estimated the number of overnight stays across different seasons and the number of individuals who had stayed at the cottage during the past year. They were also asked whether they had worked remotely from the cottage. Background variables in the dataset include the respondent's age group, employment status, municipality of residence, and municipality of the cottage.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa käsitellään mökkeilyyn, mökkeilyn energiankäyttöön ja mökkimatkoihin liittyviä kysymyksiä tarkoituksena selvittää niistä koituvaa hiilijalanjälkeä sekä vuosien 2021-2023 energia- ja taloustilanteen vaikutuksia vapaa-ajan asumiselle. Kysely toteutettiin osana Mökkeilyn hiilijalanjäljen laskenta ja päästövähennyskeinot Suomessa (MöHiLas) -hanketta. Työtä rahoittavat maa- ja metsätalousministeriö (saaristoasiain neuvottelukunta) sekä ympäristöministeriö. Hankkeessa tehtiin myös yhteistyötä Vapaa-ajan asukkaiden Liiton VAAL ry:n ja Suomen Omakotiliitto ry:n kanssa. Kyselyn alussa selvitettiin, millä vuosikymmenellä mökki on rakennettu, millaiseen käyttöön se parhaiten soveltuu, ja kuinka pitkä etäisyys mökin ja vakituisen asunnon välillä on. Mökkimatkoihin tarkennuttiin seuraavaksi kysymällä tavallisesti käytetyistä kulkutavoista, mahdollisesti käytössä olevan henkilöauton käyttövoimasta, ja onko matkojen kulkutavoissa tai määrässä tapahtunut muutoksia viimeksi kuluneen vuoden aikana. Kyselyssä selvitettiin myös mökiltä käsin tehtävien päivämatkojen määrää ja luonnetta. Seuraavaksi kartoitettiin, paljonko ja millaista polttoainetta vapaa-ajan asunnolla olevat laitteet kuluttavat vuodessa. Mökin energiaratkaisuihin liittyen kysyttiin myös, mitä virtalähteitä mökiltä löytyy, ja mikä on mökin pääasiallinen lämmitystapa sekä mahdollisista lisälämmitysmuodoista. Lisäksi kysyttiin, onko lämmitys pysyvästi päällä talvikaudella 2022/2023, ja poikkeaako tämän talvikauden lämmitys edelliseen vuoteen verrattuna. Lopuksi tiedusteltiin, onko mökillä tehty energian käyttöön liittyviä muutoksia tai hankittu uusia virta- tai lämmönlähteitä viimeksi kuluneen vuoden aikana. Kyselyn päätteeksi selvitettiin mökin käyttöön liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan mökin käyttövuorokausien määrä eri vuodenaikoina, ja kuinka moni henkilö on yöpynyt mökillä viimeksi kuluneen vuoden aikana. "en": "The dataset continues the research conducted by the Central Union for Child Welfare on the development of corporal punishment of children and attitudes towards it. The survey also maps the use of corporal punishment reported by parents themselves. Taloustutkimus was responsible for the data collection. The survey first explored Finnish people's opinions on the acceptability of using physical and psychological forms of corporal punishment. For example the respondents were asked whether it is justifiable to resolve conflicts between a child and a parent with moderate violence in exceptional cases, and whether it is acceptable to address a child's misbehavior by yelling. Next, the respondents who had underage children were asked whether they had used corporal punishment on their children, such as pulling their hair or threatening them with violence. Additionally, all the respondents were asked whether they had been subjected to corporal punishment during their own childhood and whether they were aware that corporal punishment is illegal in Finland. Finally, all the respondents were asked to evaluate how harmful they consider different methods of addressing a child's behavior in terms of the child's development, such as spanking, ignoring the child, or sending the child to calm down alone. The background variables of the dataset include gender, age group, region, major regions, municipality population size, household composition, age and number of children living at home, occupational status, marital status, employment situation, type of locality, and generation.",
"fi": "Aineisto jatkaa Lastensuojelun keskusliiton tekemää lapsiin kohdistuvan kuritusväkivallan ja siihen liittyvien asenteiden kehitystä seuraavaa tutkimusta. Kyselyllä kartoitettiin myös vanhempien itse raportoimaa kuritusväkivallan käyttämistä. Aineistokeruusta vastasi Taloustutkimus Oy. Ensimmäisenä kyselyllä selvitettiin suomalaisten mielipiteitä kuritusväkivallan fyysisten ja henkisten muotojen käyttämisen hyväksyttävyydestä. Vastaajilta kysyttiin muun muassa onko lapsen ja vanhemman välisiä ristiriitoja ainakin poikkeustapauksessa oikeutettua ratkoa kohtuullisella väkivallalla ja onko lapsen huonoon käytökseen oikeutettua puuttua huutamalla. Seuraavaksi niiltä vastaajilta, joilla oli alaikäisiä lapsia, kysyttiin ovatko he kohdistaneet lapsiinsa kuritusväkivaltaa, kuten esimerkiksi tukistaneet tai uhkailleet lapsiaan väkivallalla. Lisäksi kaikilta vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, onko heihin kohdistettu lapsuudessaan kuritusväkivaltaa ja tietävätkö vastaajat kuritusväkivallan olevan laitonta Suomessa. Lopuksi kaikilta vastaajilta kysyttiin kuinka haitallisena lapsen kehitykselle he pitävät erilaisia keinoja puuttua lapsen käytökseen, kuten esimerkiksi piiskaamista, huomiotta jättämistä ja lapsen määrämistä yksin rauhoittumaan. "en": "The survey charted Finns' opinions on the 2022 county elections and wellbeing services counties. The survey examined respondents' political participation, political attitudes, party allegiance, candidate and party choices and voting behaviour. The data also includes questions on future prospects of Finland. The county elections survey was carried out by the Finnish election study consortium, a consortium of election and democracy researchers from several universities. First, the respondent was asked about their interest in politics and their satisfaction with the functioning of democracy in Finland. Then, the respondent was asked how much he/she followed the county elections through different media and how often respondent discussed politics with other people. The respondents' opinions on voting, democracy, and forms of political decision-making were surveyed. Satisfaction with the political system was assessed by asking how much the respondent trusts various institutions, such as the government, political parties, the municipal council, the media, the Finnish institute for health and welfare and the regional state administrative agency. Next, the respondent's opinions were surveyed using a variety of statements related to county elections and local democracy. Respondents were also asked to rank in order of importance whom the county councillor should primarily represent. The respondent was also asked about access to information on county elections. The next topic was political parties. Respondents were asked for their opinion on different political parties, and if they felt close to any political party. Respondents were also asked to place themselves on the left-right axis and on the value-liberal-conservative scale. The future direction of Finland was explored through attitudinal questions on issues such as multiculturalism, Christian values, climate change, government regulation and taxation. Next, respondents were asked about voting in county elections. Respondents were asked about not voting and the obviousness of not voting. Those who voted in the elections were asked in more detail about the party candidate they voted for, whether the candidate was a resident of their county area and at what point they made their voting decision. Finally, questions were asked about wellbeing services counties. Respondents were asked whether public money should be spent more, the same or less on health care than at present. In addition, a number of questions were asked on issues such as the services provided by the wellbeing services counties and by their own municipality, taxation and user charges. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's year of birth, gender, education, marital status, wellbeing services county, occupational status, employer type, mother tongue, languages used at home, type of municipality of residence, type of dwelling, gross annual household income, number of people in the household, number of children, membership of an ethnic minority group, preferred method of accessing health services and party affiliation.",

Aluevaalitutkimuksen toteutuksesta vastasi Suomen kansallinen vaalitutkimuskonsortio, joka koostuu useiden eri yliopistojen vaali- ja demokratiatutkijoista. Ensiksi vastaajalta kysyttiin kiinnostuksesta politiikkaan sekä tyytyväisyydestä demokratian toimivuuteen Suomessa. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin, minkä verran vastaaja seurasi aluevaaleja eri tiedotusvälineistä ja kuinka usein hän keskustelee politiikasta muiden ihmisten kanssa. Asenneväittämin kartoitettiin vastaajan mielipiteitä äänestämisestä, demokratiasta ja poliittisen päätöksenteon muodoista. Tyytyväisyyttä poliittiseen järjestelmään kartoitettiin kysymällä, kuinka paljon vastaaja luottaa eri tahoihin, kuten hallitukseen, puolueisiin, kunnanvaltuustoon, tiedotusvälineisiin, terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitokseen ja aluehallintovirastoon. Seuraavaksi vastaajan mielipiteitä kartoitettiin erilaisin aluevaaleihin ja lähidemokratiaan liittyvin väittämin. Vastaajan tuli myös asettaa tärkeysjärjestykseen se, ketä aluevaltuutetun tulisi ensisijaisesti edustaa. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin aluevaaleihin liittyvän tiedon saatavuudesta. Seuraavana teemana olivat puolueet. Vastaajalta tiedusteltiin, kokeeko hän olevansa lähellä jotakin poliittista puoluetta, ja jos kokee, niin mitä. Lisäksi kysyttiin mielipidettä eri poliittisista puolueista. Vastaajaa pyydettiin myös sijoittamaan itsensä vasemmisto-oikeisto-akselille sekä arvoliberaali-arvokonservatiivi-asteikolle. Suomen tulevaisuuden suuntaa kartoitettiin asenneväittämillä esimerkiksi monikulttuurisuudesta, kristillisistä arvoista, ilmastonmuutoksen torjunnasta, valtion säätelystä ja verotuksesta. Seuraavaksi vastaajalta kysyttiin aluevaaleissa äänestämisestä. Vastaajalta kysyttiin äänestämättä jättämisestä ja sen itsestään selvyydestä. Vaaleissa äänestäneiltä kysyttiin tarkemmin, minkä puolueen ehdokasta vastaaja äänesti, oliko ehdokas omassa kunnassa asuva ja missä vaiheessa hän teki äänestyspäätöksen. Lopuksi kysyttiin hyvinvointialueisiin liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajalta kysyttiin, pitäisikö julkisia varoja käyttää terveydenhuoltoon enemmän, saman verran vai vähemmän kuin nykyisin. Lisäksi esitettiin useita väittämiä liittyen esimerkiksi hyvinvointialueiden ja oman kotikunnan tarjoamiin palveluihin, verotukseen ja asiakasmaksuihin. Taustatietoja aineistossa ovat vastaajan syntymävuosi, sukupuoli, hyvinvointialue, koulutusaste, siviilisääty, ammattiasema, työskentelysektori, kotitalouden bruttovuositulot, paikkakuntatyyppi, asuntotyyppi, ensisijainen tapa käyttää terveyspalveluja, puoluekanta, äidinkieli, kotona käytettävät kielet, kuuluminen etniseen vähemmistöryhmään, kotitalouden henkilömäärä ja lasten määrä."

Haastattelu jakautui seuraaviin teemoihin: 1) työuupumuksen kokeminen tällä hetkellä, 2) työuupumuksen synty ja tausta (mm. työuupumuksen erilaiset oireet ja niiden kytkeytyminen työ- ja yksityiselämän tilanteeseen), 3 työuupumusprosessin eteneminen (mm. muutokset työuupumuksen oireissa ja työ- ja yksityiselämässä) ja 4) työuupumus ja selviytyminen tällä hetkellä (mm. avun tarve ja muutosten tarve työ- ja yksityiselämässä). Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata."

"en": "This dataset consists of 11 writings where generalist degree students describe their academic expertise and its development throughout their university studies. In this context, generalist degree refers to fields of study where students graduate as experts in the more broad field they studied rather than studies that lead to a specific occupational title (e.g. doctor). In the invitation to write, the students were asked to describe their general expertise at present as well as whether they felt they were experts in some specific field. They were also asked to write about the support they had received or would want to receive from their university in developing their expertise. Additionally, the students were asked to describe their generalist degree studies and the potential benefits they thought the degree offered for working life. Central themes in the writings included studies, expertise and the abilities needed in working life. Background information included the participant's gender, age, field of study and the year of beginning studies. The data are only available in Finnish.",

"en": "A corpus consisting of Finnish children's books intended to be read by children in Finnish basic education. We have named the corpus \"Turku Children's Book Corpus\", or TCBC for short, as it has been created by the TurkuNLP research group at the University of Turku.\n\nVersion 1.1 (released 2.10.2025):\n525 books in total, 175 per age group. A total of 360 fiction, 45 non-fiction, and 120 textbooks. Size ~20.2 million words.\n\nVersion 1.0 (released 13.6.2025):\n300 books in total, 100 per age group. A total of 210 fiction, 45 non-fiction, and 30 textbooks. Size ~11.6 million words.\n\nIn the dataset are the following files:\n- physically-scanned-imgs : Physically taken photos of each page in each physical book\n- elibrary-book-imgs : Images of each page in each e-book\n- google-doc-ai-layouts : OCR output from Google Document AI's Layout processor for the images of each book\n- corrected-raw-texts : Raw texts from the GoogleDocAI layouts. Manually checked to fix most OCR mistakes\n- trankit-jsons : Trankit output for each raw text file, used in creating the CoNLLU files\n- conllus : Full texts of books that have been morphosyntactically parsed with Universal Dependencies annotations and follow the CoNLLU file format\n- metadata : Various metadata files containing information on the books included in the dataset\n\nThere are different versions of TCBC and each version has been designed such that it contains and equal number of books per age group, which have been designated as ages 7-8 (also includes some books for younger children), 9-12, and 13+. There are also three different genres taken into account: novel, textbook, non-fiction and there is an equal number of books for each genre in each age group. There are also some additional books that have been partially processed, but not a part of the most recent version of the corpus to adhere to this rule. The list of the specific books for each version can be found in the metadata files."
