"en": "Using a mixed methods approach, this study investigates Finnish and Georgian deaf students' attitudes towards leisure reading and the relationship between their reading intentions and actual reading. The primary interest of the study is to identify the external factors that affect reading behaviour directly or indirectly. \r\n\r\nAn Integrative Model of Planned Behaviour is used as a theoretical framework, where intention is considered the main determinant for the behaviour. \r\n\r\nThe study is cross-cultural, bringing the experiences of two distinct countries together. \r\n\r\nReading attitude is investigated quantitatively, using a 5-point Likert Scale survey. 29 statements are broken down into three variables: enjoyment ( statements 4-13), difficulty ( statements 14-22) and social reinforcement (statements 23-29). \r\n\r\nFollow-up focus group interviews investigated the perceived external factors that affect reading behaviour negatively. interview questions were also grouped under three categories: 1) General feelings about reading (experiential attitude or affect), 2) Influences from individuals, close networks or society (perceived norms) and situational or environmental restrictions affect behaviour performance (skills, knowledge, resources, other factors). \r\n\r\nThe interview protocol, questions survey and row data are attached as files.\r\n\r\nInterview transcripts are saved in Finnish and Georgian languages and can be shared only upon a reasonable request. \r\n\r\nThe benefits of recreational reading for academic success are clear. However, the full potential of recreational reading for socialisation and well-being remains untapped by young readers. Studies of young readers’ recreational reading intentions and perceived barriers to translating intentions into reading are scarce. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students have been particularly excluded from research on leisure reading. Using a mixed methods approach, this study investigates Finnish and Georgian students' attitudes towards leisure reading and the relationship between their reading intentions and actual reading. Students' engagement in recreational reading is assessed through a quantitative survey, while their attitudes and intentions towards reading are revealed through focus group interviews. The results of this study suggest that students generally have positive attitudes towards reading, regardless of their country of origin and degree of hearing loss. Furthermore, the analysis reveals a wide range of barriers to reading, the most common of which are long school days, large amounts of homework, limited free time, and preferences for other leisure activities. "en": "The Youth Barometers of Eastern Finland chart the welfare, values and attitudes of adolescents in Eastern Finland. The survey for years 2014-2015 focused on the services provided by the cities and municipalities, and whether the adolescents use these services in their home municipality. The survey was divided into five sets of questions, including public sector services provided by the municipality, public office services, club and organizations services, church services and commercial services. The respondents were asked how often they used certain services and how available these services were in their home municipality. In the first part, the respondents were asked about the services provided by the public sector. The services listed included, among others, public healthcare, public dental care, social services, youth clubs, and library services. The second part focused on public office services. These included, for instance, employment services, police services, services regarding military service, and services of Kela, such as health- and social care and student allowance services. In the third part, the respondents were asked about club and organization services, such as sports services, cultural services, workshops, events, and political activities. In the fourth part, the respondents were asked about services provided by the churches and congregations. These included camps, spiritual activities, voluntary work, activities related to confirmation schools, and activities related to church holidays. In the fifth part, the respondents were asked about the commercial services in their municipality. These included among other things: public transportation, private health and dental care, grocery stores, and private cultural services. The respondents were also asked to list services they would like to use which were not available in their municipality. They were also asked about ways to improve the services in their home municipality and their opinions on how much the youth could influence these services. Finally the respondents were asked how their own municipality would compare to other municipalities in terms of these services. The background variables were the respondent's gender, age, municipality type, education, household composition, and the level of education of both the respondent's father and mother.",
"fi": "Itä-Suomen nuorisopuntari kartoittaa itäsuomalaisten nuorten hyvinvointia, arvoja ja asenteita. Vuoden 2014-2015 puntari keskittyy kuntien ja kaupunkien palvelutarjontaan sekä siihen, käyttävätkö nuoret kyseisiä palveluja asuinkunnassaan. Ensimmäisessä osiossa kysyttiin julkisen sektorin palveluiden käytöstä. Kunnallisiin palveluihin katsottiin kuuluvan muun muassa terveydenhoito, koulu- tai oppilasterveydenhuolto, sosiaalipalvelut, kulttuuripalvelut, kirjasto- ja mediapalvelut, liikuntapalvelut, vapaa-aikapalvelut sekä nuorten vaikutusryhmät. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan kuinka paljon he käyttävät kyseisiä palveluja sekä onko niitä kotipaikkakunnalla riittävästi tarjolla. Toisessa osiossa kysyttiin viranomaispalvelujen käytöstä ja riittävyydestä kotikunnassa. Viranomaispalveluiksi eriteltiin esimerkiksi opintotuki ja sen hakeminen Kelalta, työvoimapalvelut, terveys- ja sosiaaliturva, poliisipalvelut, lainopilliset palvelut sekä asevelvollisuus- ja siviilipalveluasiat. Lisäksi kysyttiin edellä mainittujen palvelujen ensisijaista asiointitapaa. Seuraavaksi käsiteltiin seurojen ja järjestöjen järjestämien palvelujen käyttöä ja tarjontaa. Seurojen ja järjestöjen palveluja ovat esimerkiksi erilaiset liikuntapalvelut, kulttuuripalvelut, harrastepiirit, perhepalvelut, yhteiskunnallinen vapaaehtoistoiminta, iltapäivätoiminta, vaikuttamistoiminta ja poliittinen toiminta. Kyselyssä kysyttiin myös seurakuntien ja kirkkojen palveluiden käytöstä ja riittävyydestä. Seurakuntien ja kirkon järjestämiin palveluihin kuuluivat muun muassa liikuntakerhot, hengellinen toiminta, vapaaehtoistoiminta, kirkollisiin juhliin liittyvä toiminta, rippikoulutoiminta sekä kirkon nuorisotyö. Viidenteen palveluryhmään luokiteltiin kaupalliset palvelut, kuten yksityiset terveyspalvelut ja hammashoito, yksityiset kulttuuripalvelut, kulutukseen liittyvät tavarapalvelut, päivittäistavarakauppa ja verkkokauppa. Myös näistä kaikista kysyttiin vastaajan käyttöastetta ja kotipaikkakunnan tarjontaa. Lisäksi kyselyssä haluttiin selvittää palveluiden kehittämisestä ja käyttökokemuksista. Viimeisessä osiossa kysyttiin, puuttuiko nuorten mielestä heidän asuinpaikaltaan sellaisia palveluita, joita he haluaisivat käyttää. Kysyttiin myös, millä tavoin paikkakunnan palveluita mahdollisesti voisi kehittää. Nuoret saivat myös arvioida omia vaikutusmahdollisuuksiaan tarjottaviin palveluihin. Lopuksi tiedusteltiin, miten nuorten mielestä asuinpaikkakunta pärjäisi vertailussa muiden kuntien kanssa parhaiden palveluiden suhteen. Taustamuuttujia tutkimuksessa olivat ikä, sukupuoli, koulutusaste, asuinpaikka, perhemuoto sekä äidin ja isän koulutusasteet."

"en": "This dataset was collected in a project “Muscle loading during physical activity and normal daily life: correlates with health and well being (EMG24)” funded by Research Council of Finland 2009-2010. Traditionally, physical activity assessments have contained heart rate or accelerometry. In EMG24, these assessments were complemented with electromyography (EMG) with the purpose to quantify muscle inactivity and activity periods during normal daily life. EMG from quadriceps and hamstring muscles were assessed during free living and during specific laboratory tasks of ordinary people. The current data contains assessments during treadmill protocol and selected participant characteristics. Fifty-four male and female volunteers (average age 39 yr) performed a maximal treadmill test (3-min loads) with 12 steps including walking with different speeds uphill, downhill, and on level ground and one running load. Energy expenditure was measured by indirect calorimetry simultaneously with heart rate, waist-worn accelerometry and thigh muscle EMG. EMG from quadriceps and hamstring muscles was measured using shorts equipped with textile electrodes. The data contains average values from each load. The data collection and analysis procedures are described in detail in Tikkanen et al. 2014 (EMG, Heart Rate, and Accelerometer as Estimators of Energy Expenditure in Locomotion. Med. Sci. Sports Exerc., Vol. 46, No. 9, pp. 1831–1839)."

"en": "The data consists of writings in which people with fatigue syndrome talk about their experiences of applying for social security benefits. The data was originally collected for a Master's thesis in social work. In the writing call, people with ME/CFS were asked to write about their experiences of applying for social security benefits if they had had difficulties in getting the benefit they had applied for or had been refused it. The call for contributions included a number of questions to help with the writing process. These provided the opportunity to describe, for example, how the difficulty or refusal of benefit has affected the respondent's life and well-being, the emotions that the situation has caused, or the support and help that the respondent has received from different sources in applying for benefit. As background information, respondents were asked about their main source of income, the duration and severity of their illness, and whether they had a diagnosis of fatigue syndrome. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.",
"fi": "Aineisto koostuu kirjoituksista, joissa väsymysoireyhtymää sairastavat henkilöt kertovat kokemuksistaan liittyen sosiaaliturvaetuuksien hakemiseen. Aineisto on kerätty alun perin sosiaalityön maisterintutkielmaa varten. Kirjoituskutsussa ME/CFS-sairauteen sairastuneita pyydettiin kirjoittamaan kokemuksiaan sosiaaliturvaetuuksie hakemisesta, jos vastaajalla on ollut vaikeuksia saada haettua etuutta tai häneltä on evätty se. Kirjoituskutsussa kirjoittamisen avuksi annettiin useita kirjoittamista helpottavia apukysymyksiä. Apukysymyksissä tarjottiin mahdollisuutta kuvailla esimerkiksi sitä, miten vaikeus saada etuutta tai sen epääminen on vaikuttanut vastaajan elämään ja vointiin, minkälaisia tunteita tilanteet ovat aiheuttaneet, tai minkälaista tukea ja apua vastaaja on saanut eri tahoilta etuuden hakemiseen. Taustatietona kysyttiin pääasiallista toimeentulon lähdettä, sairauden kestoa ja vaikeusastetta, sekä sitä, onko vastaajalla väsymysoireyhtymän diagnoosi."

"en": "Isotope effects between hydrogen and deuterium are key to various applications, including isotope separation for the nuclear industry and cold fusion. While molecular deuterium is rarely studied due to its high cost and is typically replaced by electrolytes like LiOD or NaOD, advances in hydrogen technologies enable direct investigation of isotope effects. Here, we introduce a novel closed-circuit electrochemical hydrogen pump for low-cost, long-duration studies of the hydrogen-palladium system under controlled H2/D2 partial pressures (0.5 – 2.5 bar) at high current densities (100 mA.cm-2). Pressure-dependent changes in capacitance and ohmic resistance suggest compression of the catalyst layers and narrowing of water channels within the membrane. Comparative measurements reveal clear isotope effects: ~25% and ~10% lower anodic charge transfer and ohmic resistances with H₂, yielding ~1.6× higher exchange current densities across all pressures. Additional effects on mass transport resistance further highlight the kinetic advantage of protium. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were performed on PdHx and PdDx model systems, wherein the thermodynamic phase and surface Pourbaix diagrams confirmed stable hydride/deuteride formation at the experimental conditions, consistent with changes in surface coverage inferred from capacitance trends. Reaction pathway analysis identified the Volmer–Heyrovsky mechanism, with the Heyrovsky step as rate-determining, in agreement with measured Tafel slopes. Electronic structure analysis shows that subsurface hydrogen weakens surface binding via d-band shifts, enhancing H2/D2 desorption. Altogether, this study integrates the design and validation of a novel hydrogen pump system and atomic-scale modelling to provide a multiscale understanding of isotope effects on metal-hydrogen systems under electrochemical conditions."

"en": "The data consists of interviews with crisis management actors, in which they talk about Finland's crisis management activities in international crisis management operations related to Afghanistan during the period of 2002-2021. The interviewees covered the administrative sectors and central agencies that are central to crisis management, as well as a period of two decades. The data was collected by the VNTEAS Afghanistan Research Consortium coordinated by the Prime Minister's Office. The study focuses on the results, impact and effectiveness of Finland's activities and how this has been assessed. Three different interview frames were set up for the interviewees, each guided by its own main question, depending on the interviewee's position. In addition, the interview questions were influenced by the period under consideration. The first interview frame (1b) relates to the impact of the Afghanistan crisis management participation at home country level, in particular in terms of capacity, skills development and cooperation between authorities. The next interview frame (1c) concerns the impact of the crisis management participation on Finland's international influence in the EU and NATO as well as in bilateral relations. The final interview frame (1d) examines how Finland has been able to contribute to the development of international crisis management through its participation in Afghanistan. In the interview framework 1d, the interviewees were first asked about their background and their work in international crisis management. They were also asked about their involvement in international crisis management development processes, followed by a description of Finland's participation in these processes during a given period. For example, in the period surrounding the 2009 elections (period 2), they were asked whether the contents of Finland's comprehensive crisis management strategy were involved in the development process. The next question asked which perspectives Finland has contributed to the development processes, and why. More specifically, questions were asked about content related to humanitarian aid, peacekeeping and the role of women, for example. In addition, the extent to which conflict sensitivity and the Do No Harm principle have been involved in the development of Finland's international crisis management was asked. Finally, questions were asked about Finnish cooperation with the authorities, successes and achievements, as well as perceived challenges in Finland's involvement in the development of crisis management. Heiltä kysyttiin myös, missä kansainvälisen kriisinhallinnan kehittämisen prosesseissa/areenoilla on ollut mukana. Erityisesti kysyttiin Euroopan Unionista ja Natosta. Haastateltavien tuli kuvailla Suomen osallistumista kriisinhallinnan kehittämisen prosesseihin valittuna ajanjaksona. Vuoden 2009 vaalien ympäröivään ajanjaksoon (ajanjakso 2) liittyen kysyttiin, olivatko Suomen kokonaisvaltaisen kriisinhallinnan strategian sisällöt mukana kehittämisessä. Vuosien 2015-2020 ajanjaksoon (ajanjakso 3) liittyen kysyttiin puolestaan, oliko OECD:n kehitysapukomitea DAC:in kolmoisneksus-suosituksen sisältö mukana Suomen agendalla. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin, mitä kantoja Suomi on edistänyt kehittämisprosesseissa, ja miksi. Tarkemmin kysyttiin humanitaariseen apuun, kehitysyhteistyöhön, rauhantyöhön, naisten asemaan, hyvään hallintoon ja oikeusvaltion kehittämiseen liittyvistä sisällöistä. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, missä määrin konfliktisensitiivisyys ja Do No Harm periaate on ollut mukana Suomen kansainvälisen kriisinhallinnan kehittämisessä. Lopuksi kysyttiin suomalaisesta viranomaisyhteistyöstä, onnistumisista ja saavutuksista sekä havaituista haasteista Suomen osallistumisessa kriisinhallinnan kehittämiseen. "en": "The data consists of interviews with people who spent their childhood in foster care. In the interviews, the respondents talk extensively about their own childhood memories and life experiences. The interviewees were placed or fostered either in a foster family, children's home, reform school or other child protection institution between 1940 and 1990. First, the interviewees were asked about their early childhood and what kind of family they were born into. They were also asked about their experience of foster care and what they remembered about their first foster placement, as well as what they thought was the reason for the fostering. This was followed by questions about the foster-care placements and foster families and the kind of life the interviewee had lived. There was also an interest in contact with biological parents and also with social services during the foster-care placements and what kind of support the interviewee had received during his or her life. Interviewees were also asked about their experiences after the foster-care placements and about their current life, career and family situation. Finally, the interviewee was asked how he or she felt the foster-care placement had affected his or her life in general. The background data include the interviewee's year of birth within five years, gender, region of residence, education, occupation and information of the different foster-care placements. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.",
"fi": "Aineisto koostuu lapsuutensa sijaishuollossa viettäneiden haastatteluista. Haastatteluissa haastateltavat kertovat laajasti omista lapsuusmuistoistaan ja elämänkuluistaan. Haastateltavat ovat olleet sijoitettuna tai kasvattina joko sijoitusperheessä, lastenkodissa, koulukodissa tai muussa lastensuojelulaitoksessa vuosien 1940-1990 välillä. Aluksi tiedusteltiin haastateltavien varhaislapsuudesta ja siitä millaiseen perheeseen on syntynyt. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin kokemuksista sijaishuollosta ja siitä, mitä ensimmäisestä sijoituksestaan muistaa sekä toisaalta minkä haastateltava arvelee olleen sijoituksen syynä. Tämän jälkeen oltiin kiinnostuneita sijoituspaikoista- ja perheistä sekä siitä millaista elämää haastateltava on sijoituspaikoissaan elänyt. Lisäksi oltiin kiinnostuneita yhteydenpidosta biologisiin vanhempiin sekä myös sosiaaliviranomaisiin sijoitusten aikana ja siitä, millaista tukea haastateltava on elämänsä aikana saanut. Haastateltavilta tiedusteltiin myös heidän kokemuksistaan sijoitusten jälkeen ja siitä millainen elämä, työura sekä perhetilanne heillä on nyt. Lopussa kysyttiin vielä siitä, miten haastateltava kokee sijoitusten vaikuttaneen elämäänsä yleisellä tasolla. Taustatietoina on mainittu haastateltavan syntymävuosi viiden vuoden tarkkuudella, sukupuoli, asuinlääni, koulutus, ammattiala sekä tiedot eri sijoituspaikoista. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata."

"en": "The data consists of writings in which respondents describe their experiences of setting boundaries when a person close to them has a mental health or substance abuse problem. In the writing guidelines, respondents were asked to give a free-form description of using boundaries as a coping tool. In addition, participants were asked to describe how their own life has been affected by the mental health or substance abuse challenges of a loved one and what feelings they have associated with setting boundaries. Support from the service system in relation to setting boundaries was also of interest. The writings also include descriptions of the ways in which people have tried to set boundaries in their relationships and whether setting boundaries has been an easy or difficult decision to make. Further questions were asked about the challenges and benefits of setting boundaries and whether they had led to conflicts in relationships. Background information included the participant's gender and age group. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.",

Edelleen tiedusteltiin läheissuhteen rajaamiseen liittyvistä haasteista ja toisaalta hyödyistä sekä siitä, onko rajaaminen synnyttänyt läheissuhteisiin konflikteja. Taustatietoina aineistossa on sukupuoli ja ikäryhmä. Aineistosta on tehty html-hakemisto, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata."

"en": "The data consists of writings related to conferment ceremony memories. In the open writing call people were asked to write about their memories and experiences of the conferment ceremonies. The respondents were asked whether they had participated in a conferment ceremony at a Finnish university and what their experience of participating in a ceremony was like. In a series of supplementary questions, they were also asked, for example, what kind of feelings and thoughts academic rituals evoke in them and why, and what kind of meaning the respondent would give to the conferment ceremony as a community experience. The respondents were also provided an opportunity to consider possible problems for the future viability of conferment ceremonies, and why some people might be alienated by those ceremonies. The respondent's gender, age and occupation are given as background information, if provided by the respondent. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.",

Kirjoituskutsussa kysyttiin, onko vastaaja osallistunut promootioon jossain suomalaisessa yliopistossa ja millainen kokemus promootion osallistuminen hänelle oli. Kirjoittamista helpottavissa apukysymyksissä kysyttiin myös muun muassa sitä, minkälaisia tunteita ja ajatuksia akateemiset rituaalit vastaajassa herättävät ja miksi, sekä minkälaisen merkityksen vastaaja antaisi promootiolle yhteisöllisenä kokemuksena. "en": "The material consists of writings related to Finns' memories of the 1973 military coup in Chile. In the writing call respondents were asked to write about how they experienced the events of the military coup in Chile and the coverage of these events in Finland. As a guiding question, the respondents were asked whether the they had participated for example in solidarity campaigns or concerts as a spectator or performer, whether they had been involved in organising solidarity events or whether they remembered any demonstrations. Respondents were also asked whether they started to follow world politics in a new way after the events in Chile. The call also asked for any encounters with Chilean refugees. The respondent's gender, age and occupation are given as background information, if provided by the respondent. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.",

Keruukutsussa pyydettiin kirjoittamaan siitä, miten vastaaja koki Chilen sotilasvallankaappauksen aikaiset tapahtumat ja niiden uutisoinnin Suomessa. Keruukutsussa kysyttiin kirjoittamista ohjaavina apukysymyksinä, osallistuiko vastaaja solidaarisuuskampanjoihin tai -konsertteihin katsojana tai esiintyjänä, oliko hän mukana järjestämässä solidaarisuustilaisuuksia tai muistaako hän mielenosoituksia. Kysyttiin myös, alkoiko vastaaja seuraamaan maailmanpolitiikkaa uudella tavalla Chilen tapahtumien jälkeen. Keruukutsussa pyydettiin lisäksi kertomaan mahdollisista kohtaamisista chileläisten pakolaisten kanssa. Taustatietona on mainittu vastaajan sukupuoli, ikä ja ammatti, jos hän on antanut niistä tiedon. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes included organisation of work, development opportunities and flexibility, learning and training at work, wages, workplace bullying, capacity to work, and changes in working life. Questions in the barometer have mainly remained the same each year. The 2020 collection round included new questions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. First, the respondents were asked about the number of people employed at their workplace, changes in the number of staff, distribution of work and tasks, and implementation of new working methods and systems over the past 12 months. Satisfaction in the working environment was charted with questions about openness, encouragement and equality in the workplace, job stability, and opportunities for employees to develop and apply new ideas. Further questions covered measures taken to improve employees' capacity to work, safety of work environment, and skills of employees. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender, type of job contract, and health status was explored. Incidents of bullying, harassment and violence at work were surveyed. The next set of questions investigated the respondents' membership in a trade union or professional association, flexible working time arrangements at the workplace, pay and bonus systems, and satisfaction with the pay level. The respondents' participation in job-related training and the contents of the training (e.g. IT, leadership skills, communication skills) were surveyed. The development of the workplace was also investigated. The use of virtual workspaces and social media services such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs as part of work tasks was charted. Autonomy at work was surveyed by asking about influence over own work tasks and working pace, over the distribution of work in the workplace, and about working to a tight schedule. The respondents were asked about work-related calls, emails and messages they had had to attend to outside their official working hours in the past 12 months. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on working conditions was investigated with questions on whether the respondents had worked remotely before the COVID-19 pandemic, whether they had started to work remotely because of the pandemic, whether they now had to do more remote work than before the pandemic, and how satisfied they had been with remote work during the pandemic. One set of questions investigated the employees' perceived workload, capacity to work, estimates of own mental and physical capacity to work, and sickness absences. Additionally, the respondents' experiences of stress, mental exhaustion, and excitement related to work were surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they had been temporarily laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, whether their working hours had been reduced because of the pandemic, and how the pandemic had impacted their workload. The respondents were asked how likely they thought it was that they would be dismissed or temporarily laid off, or that their tasks would change over the next year. Finally, views were probed on the respondents' likelihood of getting an equal job if they became unemployed, on the general employment situation in Finland, possible changes in working life in general, and the employer's financial situation. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's year of birth, age, gender, status in employment, employer type, industry of employment, type of contract, weekly working hours, overtime, and socioeconomic status.",

Aluksi vastaajalta kysyttiin nykyisen työpaikan henkilöstön määrästä ja siitä, onko työpaikassa kuluneen vuoden aikana uudistettu tehtävien jakoa, työmenetelmiä tai tietojärjestelmiä ja miten ne ovat vaikuttaneet omaan työhön. Seuraavaksi vastaajalle esitettiin väitteitä työilmapiiristä, työkyvyn ylläpitämisestä, avoimuudesta ja tasapuolisuudesta työpaikalla. Myös innovaatiotoimintaa ja työntekijöiden mahdollisuuksia taitojensa kehittämiseen ja uuden oppimiseen kartoitettiin. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin, ilmeneekö vastaajan työpaikalla eriarvoista kohtelua, syrjintää tai henkistä väkivaltaa eri tahoilta liittyen esimerkiksi etniseen taustaan, työsuhteen laatuun, sukupuoleen tai ikään. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin kuulumisesta ammattiliittoon ja työttömyyskassaan. Edelleen käsiteltiin etätyötä, työn kuormittavuutta ja näkemyksiä työelämän muutoksista yleensä sekä käsitystä oman työpaikan säilymisen varmuudesta. Kysyttiin myös työhön liittyvistä tuntemuksista kuten stressistä. Koronaan liittyen kysyttiin, alkoiko vastaaja tehdä etätyötä koronatilanteen takia, onko hän tehnyt etätyötä aiempaa useammin ja kuinka tyytyväinen hän on etätyön sujumiseen koronan aikana. Tiedusteltiin myös, onko vastaaja joutunut koronatilanteen takia lomautetuksi tai osa-aikaiseksi. Taustamuuttujina olivat muiden muassa sukupuoli, ikä, ammattiasema, työnantajatyyppi, työn koko- tai osa-aikaisuus, työpaikan toimiala, työaika ja ylityön määrä."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes included organisation of work, development opportunities and flexibility, learning and training at work, wages, workplace bullying, capacity to work, and changes in working life. Questions in the barometer have mainly remained the same each year. The 2018 collection round included new questions regarding job-related training and opportunities to develop the knowledge and competence of employees. First, the respondents were asked about the number of people employed at their workplace, changes in the number of staff, distribution of work and tasks, and implementation of new working methods and systems over the past 12 months. Satisfaction in the working environment was charted with questions about openness, encouragement and equality in the workplace, job stability, and opportunities for employees to develop and apply new ideas. Further questions covered measures taken to improve employees' capacity to work, safety of work environment, and skills of employees. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender, type of job contract, and health status was explored. Incidents of bullying, harassment and violence at work were surveyed. The next set of questions investigated the respondents' membership in a trade union or professional association, flexible working time arrangements at the workplace, pay and bonus systems, and satisfaction with the pay level. The respondents' participation in job-related training and the contents of the training (e.g. IT, leadership skills, communication skills) were surveyed. The development of the workplace was also investigated. The use of virtual workspaces and social media services such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs as part of work tasks was charted. Autonomy at work was surveyed by asking about influence over own work tasks and working pace, over the distribution of work in the workplace, and about working to a tight schedule. The respondents were asked about working outside the main workplace as well as work-related calls, emails and messages they had had to attend to outside their official working hours in the past 12 months. One set of questions investigated the employees' perceived workload, capacity to work, estimates of own mental and physical capacity to work, and sickness absences. The respondents were asked how likely they thought it was that they would be dismissed or temporarily laid off, or that their tasks would change over the next year. Views were probed on the respondents' likelihood of getting an equal job if they became unemployed, on the general employment situation in Finland, possible changes in working life in general, and the employer's financial situation. Finally, the respondents were asked how often they felt a community spirit at work, received appreciation from colleagues and partners, were able to fully utilise their professional skills, and had time to come up with new ideas. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's year of birth, age, gender, status in employment, employer type, weekly working hours, industry of employment, overtime, type of contract, and socioeconomic status.",

Työolobarometrien sisältö on pysynyt pääosin samanlaisena eri vuosina. Vuonna 2018 kyselyyn sisällytettiin uusia kysymyksiä koulutuksesta ja osaamisen kehittämisen mahdollisuuksista. Aluksi vastaajalta kysyttiin nykyisen työpaikan henkilöstön määrästä ja siitä, onko työpaikassa kuluneen vuoden aikana uudistettu tehtävien jakoa, työmenetelmiä tai tietojärjestelmiä ja miten ne ovat vaikuttaneet omaan työhön. Seuraavaksi vastaajalle esitettiin väitteitä työilmapiiristä, työkyvyn ylläpitämisestä, avoimuudesta ja tasapuolisuudesta työpaikalla. Myös innovaatiotoimintaa ja työntekijöiden mahdollisuuksia taitojensa kehittämiseen ja uuden oppimiseen kartoitettiin. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin, ilmeneekö vastaajan työpaikalla eriarvoista kohtelua, syrjintää tai henkistä väkivaltaa eri tahoilta liittyen esimerkiksi etniseen taustaan, työsuhteen laatuun, sukupuoleen tai ikään. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin kuulumisesta ammattiliittoon ja työttömyyskassaan. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin palkkauksesta ja työajan joustoista sekä mahdollisuuksista kehittää työpaikan asioita, kuten toimintatapoja ja prosesseja. Palkalliseen koulutukseen osallistuneilta tiedusteltiin, millaisia taitoja, kuten tietotekniikkaa, kieliä, projektitaitoja, he oppivat koulutuksessa. Kaikilta vastaajilta kysyttiin työssäoppimisesta. Lisäksi selvitettiin sosiaalisen median käyttöä ja käyttötarkoituksia työssä sekä tiedusteltiin työntekijän vaikutusmahdollisuuksia esimerkiksi työnjakoon, työtahtiin tai työskentelypaikkaan.
