"fi": "Tutkimuksen pääasiallisina aihepiireinä olivat luvaton poissaolo koulusta, kotoa karkaaminen, maksamatta matkustaminen, ilman ajokorttia ajaminen, seiniin kirjoittelu ja piirtely, ilkivalta koulussa, ilkivalta koulun ulkopuolella, kaupasta tai kioskista varastaminen, koulusta varastaminen, kotoa varastaminen, varastetun tavaran ostaminen, kiusaaminen, osallistuminen tappeluun, pahoinpitely, miedon huumeen käyttö, pillereiden käyttö sekä humalassa moottoriajoneuvolla ajaminen. Vastaajilta kysyttiin, olivatko he koskaan toimineet em. tavoin, ja jos vastaus oli myönteinen ja toiminta lainvastaista, tiedusteltiin myös oliko poliisi ollut tietoinen tapahtumasta. Lisäksi kysyttiin milloin oli aloittanut ko. toiminnan, ja oliko tehnyt sitä viimeisen vuoden aikana. Jos oli toiminut ko. tavalla viimeisen vuoden aikana kysyttiin myös oliko ollut tapahtumahetkellä yksin vai yhdessä, ja oliko jäänyt kiinni. Vastaajilta kysyttiin myös aihepiirikohtaisia kysymyksiä kuten mitä varasti kaupasta tai mikä oli kiusaamisen syy. Tutkimuksessa kysyttiin kaikilta vastaajilta myös mielipidettä erilaisiin väittämiin. Väittämissä käsiteltiin mm. seuraavia aiheita: rangaistuksen lieventäminen asianhaaroista johtuen, lainvastaisen toiminnan normaalius murrosiässä, rikollisuuden syyt ja näpistämisen vakavuus rikoksena. Lisäksi vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan tulevatko he tulevaisuudessa tekemään seuraavanlaisia kiellettyjä asioita: koulusta pinnaaminen, pummilla ajaminen, näpistäminen, varkaus, lievä pahoinpitely ja miedon huumeen käyttö. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös, onko heidän mielestään normaalia, jos nuori rikkoo vanhempiensa määräämiä sääntöjä, koulun sääntöjä tai lakia. Tutkimuksessa kysyttiin myös eri rangaistusten (mm. kotiaresti, vankeus, sakko) ankaruutta tilanteessa, jossa nuori on rikkonut lakia. Taustamuuttujina tutkimuksessa olivat mm. koulun sijaintialue, sukupuoli, ikä, työssäkäynti, koulunkäynnin mieluisuus, luokallejääntikerrat, vanhempien ammatit ja työllisyystilanne, perhesuhteet, rahankäyttö, vapaa-ajan toiminta ja seura, alkoholinkäyttö sekä tupakointi.",
"en": "The survey studied the extent, frequency, and nature of self-reported offending among young Finns. The main topics were truancy, running away from home, fare evasion, driving without a license, doing graffiti, vandalism at school, vandalism outside school, stealing from a store or a kiosk, stealing from school, stealing from home, buying stolen goods, bullying, taking part in fighting, beating up somebody, use of mild drugs and pills, and drink-driving. The respondents were asked whether they had ever been involved in any of these activities and if so, whether the police had been notified if the activities were illegal. In addition, the respondents were asked when they had started the activity in question and whether they had been involved in it during the previous year. If the respondents answered in the affirmative, they were asked if they had been alone or with somebody at the moment, and whether they had been caught. The respondents were also asked topic-related questions like what they had stolen from a store or what the reason for bullying had been. In the survey, all respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to young people and offences, and what kind of punishments should be used. Among others, the following topics were dealt with: mitigating punishment due to circumstances, how common or normal illegal activities were during puberty, causes of criminality, and the seriousness of petty theft as a crime. Furthermore, the respondents were asked whether they would do some or any of the following forbidden things in the future: truancy, fare evasion, petty theft, theft, mild assault and battery, use of mild drugs. The respondents were also asked whether they thought it was normal that young people break the rules set by their parents, the rules of the school, or break the law. In the survey, the respondents were also asked about the severity of various punishments (house arrest, imprisonment, fine) in a situation where a young person had broken the law. Background variables included location of school, the respondent's gender, age, employment, whether R liked going to school, how many times R had had to repeat a year in school, professions of the parents and their current employment situation, interpersonal relationships in the family, use of money, household composition, leisure time activities, whether R had a boyfriend/girlfriend, alcohol use, and smoking."

"fi": "Nuorisorikollisuus 2012 -aineistossa on kartoitettu nuorten rikoskäyttäytymistä ja uhrikokemuksia kuudes- ja yhdeksäsluokkalaisten nuorten tapauksessa. Kyseessä on Nuorisorikollisuus-sarjan seitsemäs aineisto. Aineisto poikkeaa aiemmista vuosista sillä, että kysely on laajennettu koskemaan myös kuudenluokkalaisia nuoria yhdeksäsluokkalaisten lisäksi. Kyselyn alussa kysyttiin vastaajan taustatietoja, koulumenestyksestä ja tulevaisuuden suunnitelmista. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin vastaajan perheestä. Kyselyn ensimmäinen laaja kysymyspatteri käsittelee kiellettyjä tekoja, joita vastaaja on mahdollisesti tehnyt elämänsä aikana ja viimeisen 12 kuukauden aikana. Näitä tekoja ovat muun muassa luvaton poissaolo koulusta, vahingonteot, varastaminen, väkivalta ja päihteiden käyttäminen. Mikäli vastaaja kertoi tehneensä joitain näistä kielletyistä teoista viimeisen 12 kuukauden aikana, häneltä kysyttiin tarkempia tietoja teosta. Kiellettyjen tekojen tarkentavissa kysymyksissä kysyttiin muun muassa kuinka monta kertaa vastaaja on tehnyt ko. teon, esimerkiksi monestiko hän on maalannut graffiteja tai varastanut moottoriajoneuvon. Lisäksi joidenkin tekojen kohdalla kysyttiin toimiko vastaaja yksin vai jonkun toisen henkilön kanssa. 9. luokkalaisilta kysyttiin lisäksi, oliko vastaaja alkoholin vaikutuksen alaisena tekohetkellä. Kiusaamiseen liittyen kysyttiin tarkentavana kysymyksenä kiusaamisen tavasta sekä syystä kiusaamiseen, kuten kiusatun ihonväri, uskonto tai kansallinen tausta. Lisäksi vastaajalta kysyttiin päihteiden käyttöön liittyen mistä aineesta oli kyse ja käyttikö joku vastaajan kanssa päihdyttävää ainetta. Seuraavaksi 9. luokkalaisilta kiellettyjen tekojen tekijöiltä kysyttiin vielä siitä, onko poliisi saanut tietää joistakin tehdyistä teoista. Seuraavaksi kartoitettiin tekoja, joita muut henkilöt ovat tehneet vastaajalle, kuten omaisuuden vahingoittaminen, väkivalloin varastaminen, koulussa tai koulumatkalla kiusaaminen, sähköinen uhkailu tai sukupuolinen lähentely aikuisen toimesta. Näiden kohdalla kysyttiin myös onko vastaaja kokenut kyseisiä asioita elämänsä aikana ja viimeisen 12 kuukauden aikana. Mikäli vastaaja oli kokenut kyselyssä määriteltyjä tekoja viimeisen 12 kuukauden aikana, tapahtumista kysyttiin tarkentavia kysymyksiä. Kysyttiin kuinka usein vastaaja on kokenut tekoja, kuka oli tekijä ja mitä seurauksia tapahtumista koitui vastaajalle, kuten fyysisiä vammoja tai tarvetta saada lääkärin hoitoa. Väkivallan kokemiseen liittyen kysyttiin vielä tarkemmin, että ketkä esimerkiksi vastaajan lähipiiristä tai suvusta ovat kohdistaneet väkivaltaa vastaajaan. Perhe ja kotiolot olivat kyselyssä seuraavana teemana. Vastaajalta kysyttiin muun muassa kertooko hän kotoa illalla lähtiessään minne on menossa, tietävätkö vanhemmat kenen kanssa vapaa-aikaa vietetään, seuraavatko vanhemmat koulumenestystä ja huolehtivatko vanhemmat nukkumaanmenoajoista. Lisäksi kysyttiin ovatko vanhemmat nähneet nuorta humalassa, syödäänkö perheessä yhdessä ja riitelevätkö nuoren vanhemmat keskenään. Nuoren vapaa-aikaan liittyen vastaajalta kysyttiin hengailusta julkisilla paikoilla, nuorisotalolla ajan viettämisestä sekä väkivaltaisten tietokonepelien pelaamisesta. Seuraavaksi kartoitettiin nuoren asuinympäristöä ja koulun ilmapiiriä. Kysyttiin myös käytetäänkö vastaajan kaveripiirissä huumaavia aineita sekä varasteleeko tai tappeleeko joku vastaajan ystävistä. Kyselyn loppupuolella vastaajalta kysyttiin omista luonteen piirteistä ja tavasta reagoida erilaisiin tapahtumiin. Näistä kysyttiin määrittelevien arvioiden muodossa, kuten olen huolellinen, toimin usein mielijohteesta tai otan joskus riskejä pelkän huvin vuoksi. 9. luokkalaiset saivat vielä määritellä kuvaavatko väitteet, kuten syytän muita virheistäni, kyllästyn helposti, otan huomioon toisten tunteet ja en näytä tunteitani, vastaajan luonnetta. Vastaajalta kysyttiin lisäksi arviota tulevasta rikoskäyttäytymisestä sekä väkivallan pelosta ja turvallisuuden tunteesta erilaisissa paikoissa. Kysyttiin myös, onko väärin, jos joku ystävistä valehtelee vanhemmilleen, lataa laittomasti materiaalia verkosta tai varastaa kaupasta. Viimeisenä 9. luokkalaisilta kysyttiin vielä omaan terveyteen liittyen unen määrästä ja laadusta. Taustamuuttujia ovat muun muassa vastaajan sukupuoli, ikä, suunnitelmat peruskoulun jälkeen, koulunkäynnin sujuvuus, vanhempien työmarkkina-asema ja perheen taloudellinen tilanne.",

The 2012 survey, which is the seventh of its kind, differs from the surveys of previous years in that it was expanded to include sixth-graders (pupils aged 12-13) in addition to ninth-graders (pupils aged 15-16). Questions covered truancy, vandalising school property or other property, theft, shoplifting, motor vehicle theft, burglary, online piracy, bullying, taking part in a fight, assault, robbery, possession of a weapon, alcohol use, and use of other intoxicating substances. If the respondents admitted to having done any of the acts mentioned, they were asked whether they had done it in the previous 12 months and how many times. Relating to some of the offences, the respondents were also presented with specifying questions about the last time they had committed the act, for example, whether they had acted alone, whether they had been drunk at the time, whether the act had been revenge for some previous incident, what they had stolen, and whether the motive for a violent act had been discriminatory. Ninth-graders were also asked whether the police had found out about the offences committed. The respondents were also asked whether they had been a victim of vandalism, violent robbery, theft, bullying, threats of violence, assault, discriminatory harassment or violence, parental corporal punishment, or cyberbullying and cyberthreats. If the respondents had been a victim of any of the acts, they were asked whether they had experienced it in the previous 12 months and how many times. Relating to some of the experiences, the respondents were also presented with specifying questions about the last time they had been a victim of the crime, for instance, whether the perpetrator had been male or female, how old the perpetrator had been, what his/her ethnicity had been, whether the respondent had sustained injuries, and what had been stolen. Relating to experiences of violence, the respondents were further presented with a list of people (e.g. friend, mother, father, unknown adult, teacher, coach/instructor) and asked whether any of them had physically assaulted them (hit, kicked, or used a weapon). Family and circumstances at home were surveyed with questions about the extent to which parents supported and were interested in the respondent's life. Relating to leisure time, questions probed how often the respondents were away from home in the evenings, visited parties, spent long periods of time online, watched violent films etc. Questions on neighbourhood and school investigated the prevalence of graffitis, vandalism and alcohol/drug abuse in the neighbourhood, and the prevalence of vandalism and disruptive behaviour at school. The respondents were also asked whether their friends had used cannabis, shoplifted or been in a fight in a public place. A number of items from the Big Five Inventory (John et al.) were presented and the respondents were requested to indicate to what extent they thought the characteristics applied to them (e.g. \"I am talkative\", \"I tend to be lazy\"). Additionally, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to their propensity to take risks, tendency to think ahead and to be considerate of others (e.g. \"Sometimes I take a risk just for the fun of it\", \"If people get upset over something I do, that's their problem, not mine\"). Finally, the respondents were asked the future probability of them shoplifting or being in a fight, insecurity experienced in certain places, acceptability of certain acts for young people (e.g. lying, online piracy, shoplifting), and to what extent they agreed with statements relating to breaking the law (e.g. \"It is acceptable to take revenge on a person who hurts/insults a friend of mine\"). Respondents on the ninth grade were asked additional questions. Questions charted sleep problems as well as whether the respondents felt certain descriptions (found in the Antisocial Process Screening Device-Self-Report, Frick et al.) applied to them (e.g. \"I blame others for my mistakes\", \"I keep same friends\"). The background variables included, among others, the respondent's sex, age, country of birth, school performance (maths, Finnish, English), and household composition as well as years lived in the municipality of residence, attendance in remedial education during the school year, language spoken at home, parents' economic activity, perceived financial circumstances of family, and whether R had ever had to repeat a grade. Ninth-graders were also asked their dating status and plans after basic education."

Vastaajilta kysyttiin, olivatko he koskaan tehneet edellä mainittuja tekoja, ja jos vastaus oli myönteinen ja teko lainvastainen, tiedusteltiin, onko poliisi saanut tietää teosta. Lisäksi kysyttiin, olivatko vastaajat tehneet teon viimeisen vuoden aikana, ja jos olivat, niin kysyttiin, tekivätkö he teon yksin vai muiden kanssa, olivatko tehneet teon humalassa ja saiko joku tietää tästä teosta. "en": "The survey charts self-reported juvenile delinquency, experiences of crime victimisation, and attitudes to crime. The respondents' were asked whether they had played truant, run away from home, driven a car or motorcycle without a driving licence, drawn graffiti on walls, damaged property, shop-lifted, stolen from school or home, bought stolen goods, stolen a car, bullied someone, been in a fight, beaten somebody up, taken drugs or misused legal medication, or driven drunk. If the respondents admitted to having committed any of the above-mentioned offences, and if the offence was illegal, they were asked whether the police had found out about it. In addition, they were asked whether they had committed the offence during the past year, whether they had acted alone, whether they were drunk at the time and whether somebody had found out about it. The respondents were also presented with specifying questions, for example, what kind of things they had shop-lifted. The survey also studied whether teachers are bullied at school. The respondents' attitudes to other people, to breaking the law, and to reasons for breaking the law were examined. Their self-perceptions and relationships to own parents, teachers and adults in the neighbourhood were queried on with attitudinal statements. The respondents were also asked whether they had been victims of violence or theft. Background variables included respondent's gender, age, alcohol use, leisure time activities and company, dating, plans after lower secondary school, need to repeat a year in school, parents' occupation and economic activity, and household's financial circumstances. The data includes two different variables denoting municipality type."

"fi": "Erilaisin väitelausein kartoitettiin vastaajien asenteita nuorten lainvastaisiin tekoihin. Heiltä tiedusteltiin myös, mitkä tekijät aiheuttavat ja lisäävät nuorison lainvastaista käyttämistä. Vastaajat arvioivat peruskoulutukselle asetettujen eri tavoitteiden nykyistä toteutumista sekä tavoiteltavaa toteutumista laittamalla ne tärkeysjärjestykseen. Lisäksi vastaajilta kysyttiin, kuinka huolestuttavina he pitävät eri tekijöitä, sosiaalisesta pelosta hasiksen polttamiseen, 15-vuotiaan nuoren tulevaisuuden kannalta. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, onko heihin kohdistunut opetustyössään tai työnsä vuoksi oppilaiden taholta loukkaavaa käytöstä, seksuaalista häirintää, fyysisen väkivallan uhkaa, fyysistä väkivaltaa tai muuta häirintää. Jos henkistä tai fyysistä väkivaltaa oli esiintynyt tiedusteltiin väkivallan tiheyttä lukuvuoden 1996 - 97 aikana, tekijän sukupuolta, ikää ja luokkatasoa, tapahtuma-aikaa sekä tekijälle tulleita seuraamuksia. Fyysisen väkivallan uhkaa ja fyysistä väkivaltaa kokeneilta kysyttiin lisäksi, uhkasiko tai käyttikö oppilas asetta sekä heijastiko teko oppilaan mielenterveysongelmia. Taustatietoina olivat vastaajien sukupuoli, ikä, opetusvuodet, opetettava luokka, matka kodista kouluun sekä koulun sijaintilääni ja paikkakunnan tyyppi.",
"en": "The survey charted anti-social behaviour and violence against teachers and teacher attitudes towards young people's criminal behaviour. Teachers were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to young people's criminal behaviour, its causes and methods for reducing this type of behaviour. They also rated the objectives of the basic education system. Opinions were charted on how much certain things (e.g. truancy, shyness, hashish use) would reflect on the future 15-year-olds and which factors caused young people to break the law. Teachers were asked whether they had been subjected to verbal abuse, sexual harassment, physical violence or other disruptive behaviour or had been threatened with physical violence. If mental or physical abuse had occurred, further questions clarified the number of incidents during the school year 1996-1997, the location of the latest incident, sex, age and grade level of the perpetrator and the consequences for the perpetrator. Some questions asked whether the assailant has used or threatened to use a weapon and whether the behaviour had reflected the pupil's mental problems. Background variables included respondents' sex, age, teaching experience, form taught, distance from home to school, province of the school and municipality type."

Vastaajilta kysyttiin, olivatko he koskaan toimineet em. tavoin, ja jos vastaus oli myönteinen ja toiminta lainvastaista, tiedusteltiin myös oliko poliisi ollut tietoinen tapahtumasta. Lisäksi kysyttiin milloin oli aloittanut ko. toiminnan, ja oliko tehnyt sitä viimeisen vuoden aikana. Jos oli toiminut ko. tavalla viimeisen vuoden aikana kysyttiin myös oliko ollut tapahtumahetkellä yksin vai yhdessä, ja oliko jäänyt kiinni. Vastaajilta kysyttiin myös aihepiirikohtaisia kysymyksiä kuten mitä varasti kaupasta tai mikä oli kiusaamisen syy. Tutkimuksessa kysyttiin kaikilta vastaajilta myös mielipidettä erilaisiin väittämiin. Väittämissä käsiteltiin mm. seuraavia aiheita: rangaistuksen lieventäminen asianhaaroista johtuen, lainvastaisen toiminnan normaalius murrosiässä, rikollisuuden syyt, näpistämisen vakavuus rikoksena ja seksuaalirikokset. Lisäksi vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan tulevatko he tulevaisuudessa tekemään seuraavanlaisia kiellettyjä asioita: koulusta pinnaaminen, pummilla ajaminen, näpistäminen, varkaus, lievä pahoinpitely ja miedon huumeen käyttö. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös, onko heidän mielestään normaalia, jos nuori rikkoo vanhempiensa määräämiä sääntöjä, koulun sääntöjä tai lakia. Tutkimuksessa kysyttiin myös vastaajaan itseensä kohdistuneita väkivallantekoja. Tytöiltä kysyttiin erityisesti seksuaaliseen ahdisteluun liittyviä asioita. Taustamuuttujina tutkimuksessa olivat mm. koulun sijainti, sukupuoli, ikä, työssäkäynti, koulunkäynnin mieluisuus, luokallejääntikerrat, vanhempien ammatit ja työllisyystilanne, perhesuhteet, rahankäyttö, vapaa-ajan toiminta ja seura, alkoholinkäyttö sekä tupakointi.",
"en": "The survey studied the extent, frequency and nature of self-reported offending among Finns aged 15-16 and their attitudes towards crime. Questions covered truancy, running away from home, using public transport without paying, driving without a licence, doing graffiti, vandalising school property or other property, shoplifting, stealing from school or home, car theft and buying stolen goods. If the respondents admitted to having committed any of these offences, they were asked about their age at the time and whether the police had been notified. Recent incidents were charted more thoroughly (whether they had been alone or with friends, value of the stolen goods etc.). The respondents were also asked whether they had experienced phases during which they did more shoplifting than usual. Some questions charted the respondents' participation in drink-driving, bullying, fights, assaults and use of marijuana, hashish or other illegal drugs. The survey carried a set of attitudinal questions about sexual offences (especially rape), the acceptability of breaking the law, sentencing, reasons of young people for breaking the law, and the acceptability of different offences and actions. The respondents were asked how likely it was that they themselves would commit certain offences in the future (truancy, shoplifting, assaults, use of mild drugs). Their experiences of being victims of bullying, thefts, physical attacks or threats were also questioned. Girls were asked if they had experienced sexual harassment. Last set of questions covered respondents' health problems. Background variables included, among others, respondents' sex, age, academic achievement, employment status, use of money, leisure activities, dating, alcohol use, smoking, punishments received from parents, parents' occupation and employment status. There were also two variables connected to type of municipality."

"fi": "Kyselyssä kartoitettiin suomalaisten nuorten miesten itse ilmoitetun rikollisuuden tasoa, erityisesti varastamiseen ja muihin omaisuusrikoksiin sekä erilaisiin alkoholirikoksiin ja näistä saatuihin rangaistuksiin liittyen. Kysely oli ensimmäinen laatuaan, ja se oli osa kansainvälistä projektia, johon Suomen lisäksi osallistuivat Ruotsi, Norja ja Tanska. Aineisto on koodattu käsin alkuperäisistä kyselylomakkeista Oikeuspoliittisessa tutkimuslaitoksessa vuonna 2005. Ensimmäisenä kysyttiin kuinka usein vastaajat olivat ajaneet jotakin moottoriajoneuvoja vuoden 1961 aikana, sekä olivatko he tehneet näin väkijuomien vaikutuksen alaisena samana tai jonakin muuna vuonna. Seuraavana kysyttiin kantaa esitettyyn väittämään, jonka mukaan todellisuudessa tapahtuu paljon enemmän varkauksia kuin tulee poliisin tietoon. Tiedusteltiin myös, onko vastaajilta joskus varastettu jotakin ja jos on, ilmoittivatko nämä siitä poliisille. Itse tehtyihin varkauksiin liittyen kysyttiin, ovatko vastaajat koskaan yksin tai toisten kanssa ottaneet luvatta jotakin, ja erikseen ovatko nämä ottaneet osia tai varusteita autosta, muusta moottoriajoneuvosta tai polkupyörästä. Edelleen tiedusteltiin ovatko vastaajat yksin tai toisten kanssa ottaneet lainaksi ilman lupaa tai varastaneet auton, moottoripyörän, skooterin, mopedin, moottoriveneen, muun moottoriajoneuvon, polkupyörän tai vaihtoehtoisesti ei mitään näistä vuonna 1961 tai jonakin muuna vuonna. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin mitä varastetuille ajoneuvoille oli tehty, esimerkiksi palautettu, rikottu tai jätetty heitteille. Seuraavana kysyttiin, ovatko vastaajat ottaneet luvatta työpaikoiltaan jotakin ja kuinka usein. Kaupoista varastamista kartoitettiin erikseen kysymällä ovatko vastaajat itse ottaneet tai olleet mukana ottamassa kaupoista tavaraa maksamatta niitä, ja jos ovat, niin minkä ikäisiä he ovat tuolloin olleet. Tiedusteltiin myös, ovatko vastaajat kahviloissa tai ravintoloissa käydessään vieneet mukanaan ruokailuvälineitä, tuhkakuppeja, laseja tms. esineitä. Viimeisenä varkausiin liittyen kysyttiin, ovatko vastaajat olleet mukana suorittamassa muunlaisia varkauksia kuin sellaisia, joista edellä on ollut puhe. Seuraavana tiedusteltiin sitä, ovatko vastaajat luvatta tunkeutuneet toisen rakennukseen tai asuntoon käyttämällä yleisavainta, tiirikkaa tai väärää avainta tahi rikkomalla ikkunoita, lukkoja, ovia tms., ja minkä ikäisenä näin oli tehty. Erikseen kartoitettiin sellaisen tavaran vastaanottamista, ostamista tai myyntiä, jonka vastaajat arvelevat olleen varastettua. Kysyttiin myös, oliko vastaajilta koskaan varastettu käyttämällä väkivaltaa tai uhkaamalla väkivallalla, ja jos näin oli käynyt, olivatko he tehneet siitä ilmoituksen poliisille. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin samaa asiaa vastakkaisesta näkökulmasta: olivatko vastaajat itse anastaneet jotakin toiselle kuuluvaa käyttämällä väkivaltaa tai sillä uhkailemalla, ja tapahtuiko tämä edellisvuotena vai joskus muulloin. Tiedusteltiin myös, kuinka usein vastaajat olivat lähteneet kahvilasta, ravintolasta tai hotellista jättäen laskun tahallaan maksamatta. Alkoholiin liittyen kysyttiin ensin ovatko vastaajat tuoneet ulkomaanmatkalta maihin tupakkaa tai väkijuomia yli sallitun määrän maksamatta tullia. Lisäksi kartoitettiin mahdollista laittoman oluen tai muiden väkijuomien hankkimista Suomessa. Tiedusteltiin myös, ovatko vastaajat joskus keittäneet viinaa ja milloin tämä tapahtui. Oltiin myös kiinnostuneita siitä, olivatko vastaajat olleet humalassa yleisellä paikalla ja käyttäytyneet häiritsevästi, ja minä vuonna tämä oli tapahtunut. Edelleen haluttiin tietää, olivatko vastaajat joutuneet poliisin kanssa tekemisiin juopumuksen takia, ja mitä heille silloin oli tapahtunut. Jos poliisi oli pidättänyt tai sakottanut, kysyttiin minä vuonna näin oli käynyt. Ilkivaltaan liittyen tiedusteltiin, ovatko vastaajat yksin tai toisten kanssa rikkoneet tahallaan katulamppuja, tienviittoja, katukilpiä, puhelinkoppeja tms. Lisäksi kysyttiin minkä ikäinen tytön pitää olla, ettei laki kiellä ryhtymistä sukupuoliyhdyntään tämän kanssa. Jos vastaajat arvelivat rikkoneensa tätä säännöstä, pyydettiin kertomaan minkä ikäinen kyseinen tyttö tuolloin oli ollut. Seuraavana haluttiin tietää olivatko vastaajat koskaan olleet tekemisissä poliisin tai muitten viranomaisten kanssa tekemiensä rikosten tai rikkomusten (ei juopumus) johdosta, ja milloin tämä oli tapahtunut. Jos kyseinen vuosi oli 1961, niin kysyttiin, mikä rikos oli kyseessä sekä mihin toimenpiteisiin heitä vastaan silloin ryhdyttiin. Jatkoksi haluttiin vielä tietää oliko vastaajiin sovellettu jonakin muuna vuonna erilaisia toimenpiteitä, kuten viranomaisen varoitusta, sakkoja tai ehdollisia vankeus- tai kuritushuonerangaistusta. Viimeisenä kysyttiin pitävätkö vastaajat rangaistuksia maassamme liian lempeinä, sopivina vai liian ankarina. Taustamuuttujina kyselyssä olivat syntymävuosi, koulutus, asuinkunta ja millaisessa osassa kaupunkia vastaajat asuivat sekä isän tai huoltajan ammattiasema. Lisäksi aineistossa on tieto siitä, millä kielellä (suomi tai ruotsi) hakemus oli täytetty, kuka oli kunkin vastaajan pääasiallinen miespuolinen huoltaja, sekä minkä kaupungin kutsuntoihin vastaajat osallistuivat.",
"en": "The survey covered self-reported crime of Finnish young males, focusing particularly on theft and other property crime, and alcohol-related offences and their punishments. The survey was first of its kind in Finland. It formed part of the comparative Nordic Draftee Research Programme conducted in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, coordinated by the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology (Nordiska Samarbetsrådet för Kriminologi). The data have been manually coded from the original questionnaires in the National Research Institute of Legal Policy in 2005. The survey investigated the respondents' motor vehicle use and whether they had been driving while intoxicated. Regarding theft, the respondents were asked whether they had been victims of theft and if so whether they had told the police, and whether they themselves had participated in theft, particularly theft of motor vehicles or bicycles or theft from vehicles. Further questions covered experiences of joyriding and what had happened to the stolen vehicles (were the vehicles kept, sold, destroyed, returned). Theft from workplace, shoplifting, age when the shoplifting occurred, theft of ashtrays or such from cafes/restaurants, and participation in other types of theft were charted. The survey studied burglary by asking whether the respondents had unlawfully entered any property, which method was used for entry and what age the respondent had been at the time. Receiving, buying or selling stolen goods were charted. Regarding robbery, the respondents were asked whether they had been the victims of theft involving use or threat of violence, whether they had informed the police of this and whether they themselves had taken something from someone by using or threatening with violence. They were also asked whether they had left restaurants or hotels without paying. Regarding alcohol-related offences and their punishments, the respondents were asked whether they had participated in smuggling or illicit preparation of alcoholic substances, buying illicit alcoholic substances, or disorderly conduct while intoxicated. They were also asked whether they had had dealings with the police and other authorities because of intoxication and other offences committed, and what kind of punishment they had received. Opinions on the severity of Finnish punishments were charted as well as whether the respondents had deliberately damaged road signs or streetlights. One theme covered the respondents' knowledge of the legal age of consent and whether the respondents thought they had had sex with an underage girl and if so, what had her age been. Background variables included the language of the questionnaire (Finnish or Swedish), location of the call-up, the respondent's year of birth, education, municipality of residence, type of neighbourhood, and father's social class and occupational status."

Oppilaan opettajaan kohdistamaa häirintää ja väkivaltaa koskevat kysymykset käsittelivät erilaisia ongelmatilanteita, joita oppilaat ovat aiheuttaneet opettajalle. Kysymykset käsittelivät loukkaavaa käytöstä, seksuualista häirintää, väkivallan uhkaa, fyysistä väkivaltaa ja muuta häirintää. Oppilaan vanhempia tai muita aikuishuoltajia koskevat kysymykset käsittelivät loukkaavaa käytöstä, uhkailua ja fyysistä väkivaltaa. Lisäksi kysyttiin onko oman koulun oppilas, vanhempi tai muu aikuishuoltaja uhannut oikeudellisella toimenpiteellä tai tehnyt rikosilmoituksen vastaajasta. Vastaajille esitettiin myös mahdollisia oppilaiden aiheuttamia ongelmatilanteita koulussa tai sen läheisyydessä ja kysyttiin, puuttuisivatko vastaajat kyseiseen tilanteeseen. Taustamuuttujia olivat mm. sukupuoli, ikä, kuinka monta vuotta vastaaja on toiminut opettajana, vastaajan tehtävä koulussa, erityisryhmien opettamiseen osallistuminen ja oppilaiden luokkataso.",
"en": "The survey studied offensive behaviour, abuse and violence against teachers in lower secondary schools in Finland. The main themes were teacher attitudes towards young people's criminal behaviour, and abuse and violence committed against teachers by pupils or parents. First, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to young people's criminal acts. Opinions on the factors causing young people to break the law were charted. Next theme pertained to teacher victimization. The teachers were asked whether pupils had subjected them to offensive behaviour, sexual harassment, physical violence or other disruptive behaviour or had threatened them with physical violence. Further questions investigated the number of incidents during the school year 2007-2008, the location of the most recent incident, characteristics of the offender (for instance, gender, age, class, mother tongue, non-Finnish ethnicity), and which parties had been informed of the incident (parents, safety representative, head teacher, the police). The survey also explored whether the parents or other adults close to the child had subjected the respondents to verbal abuse, violence or threat of violence. Further questions covered the characteristics of the most recent offender (gender, relationship to the pupil) and which parties had been informed. The respondents were asked whether a pupil, parent or other adult close to the child had threatened them with or had launched a legal action against them. One question studied in what kind of situations the respondents would intervene. The situations mentioned included, for instance, pupils engaging in disruptive behaviour within the school, two 15-year olds fighting, pupils smoking in a non-smoking area, a grocery selling beer to a 15-year-old pupil. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, number of years in teaching, role in the school, and in which instructional levels taught during the school year 2007-2008."

"en": "This dataset is an accompaniment to the manuscript \"How to map northern boreal flora: the value of hierarchical clustering and classification\".\n\nIt consists of:\n1. a hierarchical clustering of 479 vegetation survey sites, (`site-coords.csv`, which includes coordinates in EPSG:3067, and `isopam.RData`, for use with included code);\n2. remote sensing (Sentinel-2 and airborne laser scanning) features from the same sites (`rs-data.csv`);\n3. random forests to classify remote sensing data to plant community clusters in both hierarchical and flat (non-hierarchical, direct) processes (`hiermodels.RData` and `flatmodels.RData`);\n4. confusion matrices evaluating the classifiers (`confmatrix.xlsx`);\n5. predicted plant community maps from the study area (directory `predictions`); and \n6. R code for producing the clustering, RS features, classification, predictions, as well as figures included in the manuscript and appendices (`main.Rmd` and directory `R`)."

"en": "The data consist of written responses to the 'Experiences of Encounters with Wild Animals' memory collection. In the writings, Finns recount their memories and experiences of encounters with wild animals. The writing invitation asked respondents to describe their experiences and memories of encounters with wild animals. Respondents could focus on everyday or unexpected encounters and the emotions evoked by them. Several questions were provided to support the writing process, asking, for example, about the kinds of places and situations in which the respondent had encountered wild animals and whether they had been warned about certain animals or places. Background information includes the respondent's gender, year of birth, occupation, and municipality of residence, if provided."

"fi": "Aineisto sisältää Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran (SKS) järjestämään valtakunnalliseen kirjoituskilpailuun osallistuneita tekstejä. Kirjoituskilpailun aiheena oli 'Ilmastonmuutos ja ympäristö elämässäni'. Osallistujia pyydettiin kirjoittamaan ilmastonmuutokseen ja ympäristökysymyksiin liittyvistä arkisen elämän omakohtaisista kokemuksista ja käsityksistä. Kirjoittaa sai vapaamuotoisesti kullekin parhaiten sopivalla tyylillä. Vastausvaihtoehtoja annettiin kaksi, omaelämänkerta ja päiväkirja. Mahdollista oli kirjoittaa myös molemmat. Kirjoituskutsua levitettiin sekä sähköisenä että paperisena. SKS tiedotti kirjoituskilpailusta mm. verkkosivuilla ja lehdessään. Tutkimushankkeiden toimesta kirjoituskutsusta tiedotettiin mm. kirjastojen ilmoitustauluilla, sähköpostilistoilla ja Facebook-sivustolla. Kirjoituskutsua jaettiin myös kahdessa ostoskeskuksen järjestämässä ympäristötapahtumassa. Lisäksi kirjoituskilpailua käsittelevä lehtijuttu julkaistiin kaupunkilehdessä. Aineiston sisältämät tekstit ovat monimuotoisia. Mukana on mm. elämänkertoja, päiväkirjoja, proosaa, runoja sekä erilaisia raportteja ja opinnäytteitä. Muutamaa poikkeusta lukuunottamatta tekstit ovat pituudeltaan yhden ja kymmenen sivun väliltä. Osa aineiston teksteistä sisältää myös kuvia tai omia piirroksia. Kilpailuun lähetettiin tekstejä niin paperisena kuin myös sähköisessä muodossa. Kaikki käsinkirjoitetut tekstit on myöhemmin muutettu tietokoneluettavaan muotoon. Aineistosta on tuotettu myös html-hakemisto, jonka avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata. Html-versioista puuttuvat teksteihin mahdollisesti liitetyt kuvat, jotka ovat nähtävissä ainoastaan rtf-versioissa.",
"en": "The data consist of 81 texts sent to a national writing competition 'Ilmastonmuutos ja ympäristö elämässäni [Environment and Climate Change in My Life]' conducted by the Finnish Literature Society (SKS). People were asked to write about their own experiences and ideas relating to climate change and environmental issues in the form of an autobiography or diary, or both. The texts are in Finnish. Themes explored included: thoughts upon first hearing about climate change, significance of environment and nature, events and information that have affected the respondent's thinking about environment issues, contradictions in and frustrations with these issues, impact of the respondent's lifestyle on environment and climate change, and own efforts to act in environmentally friendly ways. The competition announcements were published in digital and paper form on web pages, e-mail lists, notice boards, newspapers and events. The dataset is only available in Finnish."

Parts of texts, which do not contain Swedish, were removed from this corpus. Tämä aineisto sisältää 8. ja 9. luokkien oppilaiden sekä lukioiden ja ammattioppilaitosten 1. ja 2. vuoden opiskelijoiden vastaukset vuoden 2019 kyselyyn. Kyselyyn on vastattu koulussa tai oppilaitoksessa opiskelupäivän aikana ja kielivaihtoehtoina ovat olleet suomi, ruotsi, venäjä, englanti ja pohjoissaame. Kyselyn alussa kartoitettiin mielipiteitä koulunkäynnistä ja luokan yhteishengestä. Lisäksi koulunkäyntiin liittyen kysyttiin oppimisvaikeuksista, kiusaamisesta ja oppimista häiritsevistä tekijöistä. Vastaajilta kysyttiin, millaiseksi he kokevat terveydentilansa niin fyysisesti kuin psyykkisesti, sekä ovatko he kokeilleet tai käyttävätkö he eri päihteitä. Lisäksi kysyttiin seurustelusta ja seksuaaliterveydestä. Kysely kattoi myös avunsaannin esimerkiksi kouluterveydenhoitajalla, -kuraattorilla tai -psykologilla. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, onko vastaajalla ystäviä, millaiseksi vastaaja kokee perhesuhteensa sekä miten hän viettää vapaa-aikaansa. Vapaa-aikaan liittyen kysyttiin muun muassa kulttuurista, liikunnasta ja internetin käytöstä. Edelleen kyselyssä selvitettiin, onko vastaaja kokenut henkistä väkivaltaa, fyysistä väkivaltaa tai seksuaalista häirintää yleisesti tai perheessään. Taustamuuttujina ovat maakunta, virallinen ja koettu sukupuoli, syntymävuosi, alaikäisyys, luokka-aste, asumisjärjestelyt luokiteltuna, syntyperä luokiteltuna syntymämaan sekä vanhempien syntymämaiden perusteella sekä tieto siitä, kauanko vastaaja on asunut Suomessa.",
"en": "The school health promotion study, conducted by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, examines the well-being, health, and school life of children and young people of different ages. This dataset consists of responses to the 2019 survey by eight- and ninth-graders in basic education and first- and second-year students in upper secondary education. The respondents filled out the questionnaire during the school day at their school or educational institution. The language options for the survey were Finnish, Swedish, Russian, English, and North Sámi. First, the respondents' opinions on school in general, their class/group, and the teachers were examined. The respondents were asked whether they had had the possibility to influence various things at their school during the present school year. Questions also surveyed how the respondents felt about recesses and breaks, whether they were experiencing difficulties in school, and whether something had bothered them at school. School bullying was examined with questions on whether the respondents had been bullied or had bullied others during the present semester, whether they had told anyone if they had been bullied, and what had happened after they had reported it. The respondents' physical and mental health, social relationships, and dating and sexual health were also charted. Next, the respondents' habits regarding brushing their teeth, sleeping, and physical exercise were surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they used tobacco products, alcohol, or other substances, and how they had gotten the substances they had used. Harassment, sexual harassment, and violence experienced by the respondents were also examined. The respondents were asked whether they had received help or services from a school nurse, physician, social worker or psychologist, and how easy it had been to get help. Finally, the respondents' relationship with their family and how they spent their leisure time were charted. Background variables included the respondent's NUTS3 region of residence, official and perceived gender, year of birth, whether R was a minor, grade in school, living arrangements (categorised), background based on R's and their parents' country of birth (categorised), and how long R had lived in Finland."
