"en": "This study describes a methodology where departmental academic publications are used to analyse the ways in which computer scientists share research data.\r\n\r\nWithout sufficient information about researchers’ data sharing, there is a risk of mismatching FAIR data service efforts with the needs of researchers. This study describes a methodology where departmental academic publications are used to analyse the ways in which computer scientists share research data. The advancement of FAIR data would benefit from novel methodologies that reliably examine data sharing at the level of multidisciplinary research organisations. Studies that use CRIS publication data to elicit insight into researchers’ data sharing may therefore be a valuable addition to the current interview and questionnaire methodologies.\r\n\r\nData was collected from the following sources:\r\n\r\nAll journal articles published by researchers in the computer science department of the case study’s university during 2019 were extracted for scrutiny from the current research information system. For these 193 articles, a coding framework was developed to capture the key elements of acquiring and sharing research data. Article DOIs are included in the research data.\r\n\r\nThe scientific journal articles and theirs DOIs are used in this study for the purpose of academic expression.\r\n\r\nThe raw data is compiled into a single CSV file. Rows represent specific articles and columns are the values of the data points described below. Author names and affiliations were not collected and are not included in the data set."

A spectral analysis of common boreal ground lichen species. Remote Sensing of Environment 247, 111955.\r\n\r\nThe dataset consists of biconical reflectance factors of 12 ground lichen species collected from southern Finland. The samples were collected in October-November 2019, and the nadir-view reflectance factors were measured in a dark laboratory using an ASD FieldSpec 4 spectroradiometer (serial number 18641). The spectral range of measurements was 350-2500 nm, and spectral resolution was 3 nm at 700 nm and 10 nm at 1400 and 2100 nm. For common mat-forming lichen species, spectra of 8-10 samples of 250 cm2 size are reported, while for not mat-forming species, spectra of 3-5 samples of size 50 cm2 are reported. All samples were measured as fresh (brought from outside to inside and directly measured) and dry (two days in room temperature). Example photographs of the sampled species can be found from the file Data_description.pdf.\r\n\r\nThe first four rows in the data contain information for citing and reading the data. First column \"Lichen_sample\" indicates the species and number of the lichen sample and whether it was measured as fresh or dry, and the subsequent columns \"wl350\"-\"wl2500\" indicate the measured reflectance value at that wavelength. The encoding of the csv file is UTF-8."

Datan q-alkuiset muuttujat koskevat ensimmäistä aaltoa ja k-alkuiset muuttujat toista aaltoa. Aineisto kerättiin osana Suomen Akatemian ja Svenska kulturfondenin rahoittamaa hanketta ”Koulutuksen merkitys kansalaispätevyyden kehittymisessä (EPIC)”. Ensimmäisen aallon kyselyssä tiedusteltiin esimerkiksi vastaajien mielipiteitä ja ajatuksia heidän kouluihinsa, luokkiin ja opettajiin liittyen sekä käytettyihin opetustapoihin yhteiskuntaopin tunneilla. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin vastaajien kuulumisen tunnetta erilaisiin ihmisryhmiin. Tämän jälkeen pyydettiin arvioimaan omia taitoja erilaisilla yhteiskunnallisilla ja poliittisilla osa-alueilla sekä tiedusteltiin millaisia valmiuksia yhteiskuntaopin opetus on antanut näihin aihealueisiin. Myös kiinnostuneisuutta ja ymmärrystä politiikasta kysyttiin sekä omia koettuja vaikutusmahdollisuuksia. Tämän jälkeen esitettiin joukko vastaajan omaan elämään ja yhteiskunnallisiin asioihin liittyviä väittämiä sekä tiedusteltiin osallistuneisuutta erilaisiin ryhmiin tai järjestöihin ja muihin pyrkimyksiin vaikuttaa yhteiskunnallisiin asioihin. Edelleen tiedusteltiin mitä asioita vastaajat näkevät tärkeäksi tehdä aikuisena sekä tiedusteltiin tulevaa äänestysaktiivisuutta vastaajan täytettyä 18-vuotta. Lisäksi kysyttiin mistä vastaaja saa tietoa poliittisista ja yhteiskunnallisista asioista ja tiedusteltiin vielä ajatuksia liittyen ilmastonmuutokseen. Lopuksi pyydettiin arvioimaan omien huoltajien poliittisia näkemyksiä sekä missä määrin erilaiset tahot ovat vaikuttaneet vastaajan käsityksiin politiikasta ja yhteiskunnasta. Toinen aalto kerättiin kaksi vuotta ensimmäisen aallon jälkeen ja tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten vastaajien asenteet ovat kahden vuoden aikana kehittyneet. Toisen aallon kysely koostui samankaltaisista kysymyksistä ja väittämistä kuin ensimmäisen aallon kysely. Kyselyssä tiedusteltiin muun muassa vastaajien ajatuksia ja mielipiteitä erilaisiin yhteiskunnallisiin ja poliittisiin väittämiin, ajatuksia kouluun ja opettajiin liittyen, väittämiä vastaajan huoltajiin ja ystäviin liittyen, tiedusteltiin missä määrin eri tahot ovat vaikuttaneet vastaajan käsityksiin politiikasta ja yhteiskunnasta sekä pyrkimyksiin vaikuttaa yhteiskunnallisiin asioihin. Taustamuuttujia ovat muun muassa sukupuoli, syntymävuosi luokiteltuna, kotona käytettävä kieli, tieto kauanko asunut Suomessa, asuinpaikkakunnan tyyppi, vanhempien koulutus, kuuluminen kirkkoon tai muuhun uskonnolliseen yhteisöön, vanhempien ammatti ISCO-luokiteltuna sekä opiskeltava tutkinto.",
"en": "The data is a follow-up study consisting of two different questionnaires designed to find out how family, friends and the school environment influence young people's social attitudes and participation. The data was collected as part of the project \"Education, Political Efficacy and Informed Citizenship (EPIC)\", funded by the Academy of Finland and The Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. The first wave of the survey asked, for example, respondents' opinions and thoughts about their schools, classes and teachers, and the teaching methods used in civic education classes. In addition, respondents were asked about their sense of belonging to different groups of people. They were then asked to assess their own skills in different social and political areas and to rate the skills they had acquired in civic education classes in these areas. Interest in and understanding of politics was also asked, as well as their own perceived level of influence. This was followed by a series of questions relating to the respondent's own life and social issues, and questions about participation in various groups or organizations and other efforts to influence social issues were asked. Further questions were asked about the things respondents see as important to do as an adult and about future voting activity after the age of 18. The question also asked where respondents get information on political and social issues and asked about their thoughts on climate change. Finally, respondents were asked to assess the political views of their own caregivers and the extent to which their perceptions of politics and society have been influenced by different parties. The second wave was collected two years after the first wave to see how respondents' attitudes had evolved over the two years. The second wave survey consisted of similar questions and statements as the first wave survey. The questionnaire asked, among other things, about respondents' thoughts and opinions on various social and political statements, thoughts about school and teachers, statements about respondents' carers and friends, the extent to which respondents' perceptions of politics and society were influenced by different parties and also about their attempts to influence social issues. Background variables included, among others, gender, year of birth (categorized), language used at home, how long they have lived in Finland, type of place of residence, parents' education, membership of a church or other religious community, parents' occupation (categorized by ISCO), and degree studied."

Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin vastaajien kokemuksia toteuttaa demokratiakasvatusta yläkoulussa sekä tiedusteltiin vastaajien näkemyksiä demokratiakasvatuksen tavoitteista ja opettajien roolista demokratiakasvattajina. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin opetustilanteista ja siitä millaisiksi oppilaiden tulisi opettajien mielestä kasvaa, jotta he olisivat hyviä kansalaisia. Edelleen tiedusteltiin vastaajien luottamusta erinäisiin tahoihin, äänestysaktiivisuutta sekä omaa sijoittumista poliittisella kentällä. Tämän jälkeen vastaajilta kysyttiin mielipiteitä erinäisistä Suomen tulevaisuuden suuntaa koskevista ehdotuksista sekä tiedusteltiin kuinka usein keskustelee poliittisista tai yhteiskunnallisista aiheista. Lopuksi esitettiin vielä väittämiä liittyen keskustelukulttuuriin sekä yhteiskunnallisesti arkojen aiheiden käsittelyyn. "fi": "Aineisto käsittelee suomalaisten suojautumiskäyttäytymistä COVID-19 pandemian aikana. Aineistossa ollaan kiinnostuneita niin arjessa toteutettavista suojaustoimenpiteistä, kuin myös suojaustoimenpiteisiin liittyvistä asenteista. Aluksi kysyttiin kontaktien välttämisestä. Tiedusteltiin, kuinka paljon vastaajat olivat olleet viimeisen 7 päivän aikana kontaktissa talouteensa kuuluvien sekä talouden ulkopuolisten ihmisten kanssa. Sen jälkeen kysymykset koskivat kasvomaskin käyttämistä vapaa-ajalla. Kartoitettiin, kuinka usein maskeja käytettiin, millaisissa tilanteissa maskeja käytettiin ja millaisia maskeja suosittiin. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, kuinka automaattiseksi maskien käyttö esimerkiksi kaupassa tai julkisissa kulkuvälineissä oli tullut. Seuraavat kysymykset liittyivät kasvomaskin käytön seurauksiin. Kysyttiin, kokivatko vastaajat maskin käytön vaikuttavan alttiuteen sairastua koronavirukseen tai vähentävän yhteisöllisyyden tunnetta. Kysyttiin myös, oliko maskin käytöllä vaikutuksia hapensaantiin, ja tuntuiko maskin käyttö epämukavalta tai ahdistavalta, vai lisäsikö se vastuullisuuden tai turvallisuuden tunnetta. Lisäksi kysyttiin, oliko jokin estänyt tai haitannut merkittävästi maskin käyttöä. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin koronavirustartunnan saamisesta. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan, kuinka todennäköisenä he pitivät koronavirustartunnan saamista vapaa-ajalla seuraavan kuukauden aikana ja kuinka paljon he kokivat voivansa vaikuttaa omilla toimillaan koronaviruksen leviämiseen. Suojaustoimien merkitykseen liittyen kysyttiin, miksi suojaustoimia noudatettiin, koettiinko toimiminen viruksen leviämistä vastaan omien arvojen mukaiseksi tai yhteenkuuluvuuden tunnetta lisääväksi. Lopuksi kysyttiin koronarokotteen ottamisesta, koronatestien tekemisestä, riskiryhmään kuulumisesta ja tarpeellisuudesta suojata itseään ja muita koronaviruksen leviämiseltä ennen rokotusannoksia ja niiden jälkeen. "en": "The survey studied protective behaviour during the coronavirus epidemic in Finland. The survey investigated the protective measures (e.g. minimising contact with others, using face masks, vaccination) the respondents took in everyday life to protect themselves from COVID-19, as well as their attitudes towards the protective measures. The first set of questions focused on minimising contacts. The respondents were asked how much contact they had had in the last 7 days with people who were not part of their own household and whether the respondent was currently in quarantine. The use of face masks during leisure time was surveyed by asking how often the respondents had worn face masks indoors when in the company of individuals who were not part of their own household during the last 7 days. The type of face masks used (e.g. fabric face mask, disposable face mask, certified face mask such as a surgical face mask) and whether the respondents reused disposable face masks were examined. The respondents were also asked whether they intended to use face masks in the next 7 days when visiting shops, cafes, restaurants, meeting non-household members indoors, taking part in indoor sports activities, and using public transportation. Additionally, the survey charted whether face mask use had become automatic for respondents in public spaces and whether they would continue to use face masks during flu seasons once the use of masks was no longer recommended to combat the coronavirus epidemic. Next, the respondents were surveyed on how wearing a face mask during their leisure time had affected them. The respondents were, for example, asked whether they felt that wearing a mask affected their risk of contracting COVID-19 and their sense of community. They were also asked whether wearing the mask affected their ability to take in oxygen, whether wearing a mask felt uncomfortable or distressing, and whether it increased their sense of responsibility or security. Norms regarding mask use were examined with questions on whether the respondent felt that different groups (e.g. the authorities, risk group members, family and friends) thought that the respondent should wear a face mask in their free time. The respondents were also asked whether anything (e.g. unwillingness to spend money on face masks, peer pressure to not wear a mask, trouble breathing when using a face mask) had significantly prevented or impeded their use of face masks. The next questions concerned contracting COVID-19. The respondents were asked how effective they thought various protective measures (e.g. hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser, face mask use, maintaining safe distances) were in stopping the spread of coronavirus. The respondents were also asked to rate how likely they thought it was that they would contract coronavirus during their leisure time in the next month and how much they felt they could influence the spread of coronavirus through their own actions. In relation to the importance of protective measures, the respondents were, for example, asked why they took protective measures, and whether they felt that taking action against the spread of the virus was in line with their values or contributed to a sense of belonging. Finally, questions were asked about the number of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine the respondent had received, the likelihood that the respondent had already had a COVID-19 infection, whether the respondent belonged to a risk group, and whether they had been tested for COVID-19 previously. The respondents were also asked how necessary they felt it was to follow measures such as wearing a mask and maintaining safe distances before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, after receiving the first dose of the vaccine, and after receiving two doses of the vaccine. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, NUTS2 and NUTS3 regions of residence, municipality of residence, education level, occupational status, household composition, household's gross annual income, and type of accommodation."

Aineisto kerättiin osana Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunnan (TSV) ja Tampereen yliopiston projektia, jossa tarkoituksena oli selvittää tieteellisten seurojen toimintaa ja edistää tieteellisten seurojen näkyvyyttä. Ensiksi vastaajilta kysyttiin taustatietoja, kuten seuran edustamaa tieteenalaa, seuran toiminta-aluetta, toiminnan tavoitteita ja seuran ydintehtäviä. Kyselyllä selvitettiin seuran taloutta ja organisoitumista, esimerkiksi oliko seuralla palkallisia työntekijöitä vuonna 2019. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin seuran jäsenyydestä muun muassa, keistä seuran jäsenistö koostuu ja mitä jäsenetuja seura tarjoaa. Seuran julkaisutoiminnasta, seminaari- ja konferenssitoiminnasta sekä seuran tutkimustoiminnasta kysyttiin myös. Näiden jälkeen kysyttiin yhteiskunnallisesta vaikuttamisesta ja avoimeen tieteeseen liittyvästä vaikuttamistyöstä sekä seurojen välisestä yhteistyöstä. "en": "The survey charted the activities of European learned societies in social sciences and humanities. The data were collected as part of a joint project by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and Tampere University, which aimed to investigate the activities of learned societies and make them more widely known. First, some background information was collected on the learned societies. The respondents were asked which field of science the society represented, in which country the society was located, whether the society operated internationally or nationally, and what the primary aim of the society was. Next, the survey charted the society's finances, such as the annual budget, changes in the budget in the past five years, and the most important sources of income for the society. Organisation and staff of the society were surveyed with questions on, for example, how the society was organised (e.g. departments or working groups), whether the society had salaried employees, and how large a share of the society's tasks were carried out without a salary or compensation. The respondents were also asked about the society's membership composition (e.g. individuals or organisations or both), the number of members, member benefits, and recruitment of new members. The publishing activity of the society was examined next with questions on how many peer-reviewed and other journals, book series, monographs, conference proceedings, and reports and policy briefs the society had published in 2019. The languages of the publications were also charted, and the respondents were asked if there had been any changes in the society's publishing activity in the past five years. The society's seminar and conference activity as well as research activity were surveyed with questions focusing on the number of organised seminars and conferences and the types of research activities the society engaged in. Finally, the respondents were asked about the society's societal impact and science communication, the promotion of open science by the society, collaborations between other learned societies, and the future of their society. No background information was collected on the respondents."

Aineisto kerättiin osana Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunnan (TSV) ja Tampereen yliopiston projektia, jossa tarkoituksena oli selvittää tieteellisten seurojen toimintaa ja edistää tieteellisten seurojen näkyvyyttä. Ensiksi vastaajilta kysyttiin taustatietoja, kuten seuran edustamaa tieteenalaa, seuran toiminta-aluetta, toiminnan tavoitteita ja seuran ydintehtäviä. Sen jälkeen tiedusteltiin, minkä takia seura on Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunnan jäsen. Kyselyllä selvitettiin seuran taloutta ja organisoitumista, esimerkiksi oliko seuralla palkallisia työntekijöitä vuonna 2018. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin seuran jäsenyydestä muun muassa, keistä seuran jäsenistö koostuu ja mitä jäsenetuja seura tarjoaa. Seuran julkaisutoiminnasta, seminaari- ja konferenssitoiminnasta sekä seuran tutkimustoiminnasta kysyttiin myös. Näiden jälkeen kysyttiin yhteiskunnallisesta vaikuttamisesta ja tiedeviestinnästä sekä avoimeen tieteeseen liittyvästä vaikuttamistyöstä. Sitten kysyttiin, pitääkö seura yhteyttä muihin suomalaisiin tieteellisiin seuroihin ja miten seura toteutti yhteydenpitoa niihin. "en": "The survey charted the activities of learned societies in Finland. The data were collected as part of a joint project by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and Tampere University, which aimed to investigate the activities of learned societies and make them more widely known. First, some background information was collected on the learned societies. The respondents were asked which field of science the society represented, in which area of Finland the society operated, whether the society operated internationally, what the primary aim of the society was, and why the society was a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. Next, the survey charted the society's finances, such as the annual budget, changes in the budget in the past five years, and the most important sources of income for the society. The organisation and staff of the society were surveyed with questions on, for example, how the society was organised (e.g. departments or working groups), whether the society had salaried employees, and how large a share of the society's tasks were carried out without a salary or compensation. The respondents were also asked about the society's membership composition (e.g. individuals, organisations, or both), membership fee, member benefits, and recruitment of new members. The publishing activity of the society was examined next with questions on how many peer-reviewed and other journals, book series, and monographs the society had published in 2018. The languages of the publications were also charted, and the respondents were asked if there had been any changes in the society's publishing activity in the past five years. The society's seminar and conference activity as well as research activity were surveyed with questions focusing on the number of organised seminars and conferences and the types of research activities the society engaged in. Finally, the respondents were asked about the society's social influence and science communication, the promotion of open science by the society, collaborations with other organisations, and the future of the society. No background information was collected on the respondents."

The dataset combines data on the elected officials' membership of municipal councils and municipal boards and data from the election data system of the Ministry of Justice. The survey data chart information on the members of municipal councils and municipal boards, including their position in the council or the board at the beginning of the 2017-2021 council term and their political party in the 2017 municipal elections. Additionally, the combined data comprise the following variables: the name and classification of the municipality in 2017, electoral district, number of advance votes received in elections, number of votes received on election day, and information on whether the elected official had previously been an MP, a member of the European Parliament, a municipal councillor, or a regional councillor. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age on election day (categorised), and mother tongue."

"fi": "Aineistossa on kartoitettu kuudesluokkalaisten nuorten ja heidän huoltajiensa hyvinvointia ja sosiaalisia suhteita. Teemoina aineistossa ovat muun muassa vapaa-ajan käyttö ja harrastukset, ystävyyssuhteet, koti ja perhe sekä ajatukset elämästä ja muista ihmisistä. Kuudesluokkalaisilta kysyttiin esimerkiksi, mihin käyttää vapaa-aikaansa, montako harrastusta on ja miten tyytyväinen on elämäänsä. Sitten kysyttiin muun muassa, kuinka monta ystävää vastaajalla on ja miten usein kouluajan ulkopuolella tapaa ystäviään. Lisäksi kuudesluokkalaisilta selvitettiin kodin asumisjärjestelyitä ja perheasioita. Kyselyssä tiedusteltiin myös ajatuksia ja mielipiteitä sosiaalisiin suhteisiin, luottamukseen ja asenteisiin liittyen. Oppilaat vastasivat kyselyyn joko paperisella tai verkkolomakkeella. Kyselyyn vastaamista ohjasi joko luokan opettaja tai aineiston keräyksestä vastaava tutkija. Opettajille oli laadittu tätä tehtävää varten erilliset ohjeet. Kuudesluokkalaisten huoltajilta kysyttiin perheen kokoonpanosta ja kuudesluokkalaisen asumisjärjestelyistä. Lisäksi kysyttiin huoltajien ajatuksista ja mielipiteistä vapaa-aikaan, ystävyyteen sekä muihin ihmisiin liittyen. Huoltajat vastasivat kyselyyn verkkolomakkeella. Aineistossa muuttujat on nimetty siten, että kaikki huoltajilta kerätyt kysymykset alkavat etuliitteellä \"p_\". Taustatietoja aineistossa ovat muiden muassa lapsen ikä, sukupuoli ja asuinalue, huoltajan syntymävuosi, sukupuoli, koulutustaso ja päätoimi sekä kotona käytettävät kielet (luokiteltuina), kotitalouden nettotulot, samassa taloudessa asuvien huoltajien ja alaikäisten määrä (luokiteltuina) sekä koulun oppilasmäärä.",
"en": "The survey charted the well-being and social relationships of sixth-graders and their parents/guardians living in the Turku region. Themes of the survey included, among others, leisure time activities and hobbies, friendships, home and family, and views on life and other people. The survey for sixth-graders contained questions on, for example, how they spent their leisure time, how many hobbies they had, and how satisfied they were with their life. Questions also examined how many friends the sixth-graders had, how often they met with their friends, whether they ever felt lonely, and how happy they thought they were. The sixth-graders' home environment and family were surveyed with questions about household composition, languages spoken at home, worries about money, and major life changes (e.g. moving, parents' divorce). Views on life and other people were charted by asking the respondents whether they agreed or disagreed with various statements on giving and receiving help, how much they trusted other people, and whether they had a positive or negative attitude towards different groups of people. Questions also focused on moral issues (e.g. whether the respondents thought lying to one's friends was acceptable for one's own gain) as well as opinions on immigration and sexual minorities. The sixth-graders could complete the questionnaire on paper or online. The respondents completed the questionnaire during class and were supervised by their teacher or the researcher. The teachers were given separate instructions if they supervised the class. In the survey for the parents/guardians of the sixth-graders, questions first examined family composition and living arrangements of the sixth-grader. The respondents were also asked how they spent their leisure time, how satisfied they were with their life, and how often they met their friends, relatives or colleagues outside of work. Views on and trust in other people were surveyed, and the respondents were asked about giving and receiving help. Finally, various attitudinal statements were presented. The parents/guardians responded to the questionnaire online. The variables in the data were named so that the questions aimed at parents/guardians begin with 'p_'. Background variables included, among others, the sixth-grader's age and gender, and the parent's/guardian's year of birth, gender, level of education, economic activity and occupational status, languages spoken at home (categorised), household income, number of parents/guardians and children in the household (categorised), and number of pupils in the school."
