"en": "This is a dataset of videos for wooden box assembly. The main strength of this dataset is the design of standard and uniform workflow and the use of multiple cameras capturing videos from different angles. A total of 62 videos of 17 subjects were collected. The duration of the videos is 13.0 hours. The whole workflow is designed into nine steps. The dataset contains the videos of the assembly process and the temporal annotation data for the nine steps in each video. Our dataset could be used to facilitate the studies in different applications such as object recognition, human action classification, intelligent automation etc."

"en": "Acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation process is a promising bioenergy option amid rising concerns over the environmental impact of fossil fuel usage. However, the commercialization of the ABE process has been marred by challenges of low product yield and titer, thereby non-competitive process economics. Here, we coupled low-cost reducing agents with a controlled feeding strategy to improve both product titer and yield. Reducing agents promote cofactor dependent butanol production while fed-batch operation enhances glucose consumption, final ABE titer, and partly mitigates product toxicity. We investigated the effects of ascorbic acid, L-cysteine, and dithiothreitol (DTT) on fed-batch ABE production using Clostridium acetobutylicum. Moreover, to study the metabolic modifications triggered by these reducing agents, we performed NADH, ATP, extracellular amino acid secretion, and NADH- dependent butanol dehydrogenase (BDH) assays. L-cysteine and DTT improved ABE solvent titer by 2-fold, producing 24.33 and 22.98 g/L ABE with solvent yields of 0.38 and 0.37 g/g, respectively. NADH, BDH, and ATP levels increased significantly which also reflected in elevated ABE titer and yield. Furthermore, histidine secretion emerged as an important factor in Clostridial acid stress in this study. The results demonstrate that reducing agents and the fed-batch combination enables efficient utilization of glucose and remarkably enhances ABE production."

"en": "The basidiomycete Phanerochaete carnosa is a white-rot species that has been mainly isolated from coniferous softwood. Given the particular recalcitrance of softwoods to bioconversion, we conducted a comparative transcriptomic analysis of P. carnosa following growth on wood powder from one softwood (spruce; Picea glauca) and one hardwood (aspen; Populus tremuloides). P. carnosa was grown on each substrate for over one month, and mycelia were harvested at five time points for total RNA sequencing. Residual wood powder was also analyzed for total sugar and lignin composition. Results Following a slightly longer lag phase of growth on spruce, radial expansion of the P. carnosa colony was similar on spruce and aspen. Consistent with this observation, the pattern of gene expression by P. carnosa on each substrate converged following the initial adaptation. On both substrates, highest transcript abundances were attributed to genes predicted to encode manganese peroxidases (MnP), along with auxiliary activities from carbohydrate-active enzyme (CAZy) families AA3 and AA5. In addition, a lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase from family AA9 was steadily expressed throughout growth on both substrates. P450 sequences from clans CPY52 and CYP64 accounted for 50% or more of the most highly expressed P450s, which were also the P450 clans that were expanded in the P. carnosa genome relative to other white-rot fungi. Conclusions The inclusion of five growth points and two wood substrates was important to revealing differences in the expression profiles of specific sequences within large glycoside hydrolase families (e.g., GH5 and GH16), and permitted co-expression analyses that identified new targets for study, including non-catalytic proteins and proteins with unknown function."

"en": "Confocal Raman mapping data from native pine wood and pine wood with polyethylene glycol (PEG) of three different molecular weights in deuterated water.\r\n\r\nThe spectroscopic data consists of 4 text files, each of which contains in total 1600 2D arrays of Raman intensity corresponding to different wavenumber values. Each of these 2D arrays consists of 175 rows with 175 comma-separated values on each row. The 2D arrays corresponding to different wavenumbers are separated by a line starting with '#' and specifying the wavenumber of the subsequent 2D array (unit inverse cm). The wavenumber axis is also given in a separate file. The food flows are from a theoretical food allocation set-up that minimizes travel time cost from crop production to consumption. In addition to normal foodsheds (values>0), there are two special cases: ridge-cells (value: -99) and unconnected single cells (value: -50). Ridge-cells are raster cells connected to multiple foodsheds, while being able to satisfy their own demand locally. Unconnected single cells are not connected to any other foodshed. "en": "The dataset presents ethnographic material collected during Becoming in Academia, an artistic intervention conducted in 2020 and encompassing 14 PhD students at Aalto University, divided into two separate groups. \r\n\r\nData collection\r\nThe data was collected during 12 group interviews of 1,5 hours and during 12 workshops of 2,5 hours each, conducted face-to-face or via Zoom from March until September 2020. It includes audio- and video recordings, participants’ reflections the form of written text, recorded speech and drawings, and the researchers’ field notes and photographs. The data is stored on Aalto Network drive. \r\n\r\nData organization\r\nWe collected data from each interview and session, and this data was complemented with the participants’ reflections between the sessions. For the analysis, the data was pseudonymized. During the analysis, meaningful exchanges and insights were identified and coded. After this, we went back to the data to analyze it further.\r\nPresently, the data has been used in two articles: \r\n•\tLafaire, A., Kuismin, A. Moisander, J. & Grünbaum, L. "en": "The core of this dataset consists of three multi band GeoTIFF files with Rhizosphere priming effect (RPE) ratios across the terrestrial northern circumpolar permafrost area, and three similar files with associated uncertainty estimates. The study area includes 33.7 million active grid cubes (561,956 grid cells), with a dimension of 5 km × 5 km × 5 cm. "en": "The set of maps presented here are an attempt to illustrate the complex dynamics that sit at the heart of the Mekong River Basin, and the long-term interactions that humans have had with this watery world. On the one hand, it aims to capture the changing landscape that follows the regional monsoonal climate, which affects both navigation and water-related resources. It also aims to bring forth the long-term interactions between people and their environment, presenting a diachronic view of late prehistoric, protohistoric, historic, and contemporary settlement sites following geographically-oriented landscape approaches postulated by the Maritime Cultural Landscape (Westerdahl, 1992) and Historical Ecology (Crumley, 1994)."

"en": "Interface was developed to use CRYSTAL code (a computational tool for solid-state chemistry and physics) in evolutionary-based USPEX method for prediction of crystal structures. Use of CRYSTAL code in USPEX enables the use of Gaussian-type localized atomic basis sets and hybrid density functional (DFT) methods. \r\n\r\nInterface is written for CRYSTAL17 and USPEX v. 9.4.4. Interface should be also applicable at least for CRYSTAL14. Interface contains MATLAB and bash scripts that need to be added to USPEX folders. Detailed instructions for installation and use are given in README file in Zenodo and GitHub\r\n\r\nPractical examples and description can be found from Wiki page: https://wiki.aalto.fi/display/IMM/USPEX+guide. Please, read the paper (https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jpcc.8b08238) to get more details on the performance of the interface for prediction of the magnetic structures of strongly correlated materials.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe title and description of this software/code correspond with the situation when the software metadata was imported to ACRIS. Data is collected in 2009.\r\nThe dataset is collected in department of Built Environment, Aalto University, Finland, in Prof. Marketta Kyttä’s research team.\r\nThe research was financed by the National Technology Agency of Finland. In addition, the cities of Espoo, Helsinki, and Turku, Ministry of the Environment, the Finnish Transport Agency, FCG Planeko Ltd, and Skanska Ltd helped to finance the project."
