"en": "Humans and ecosystems are deeply connected to, and through, the hydrological cycle. However, impacts of hydrological change on social and ecological systems are infrequently evaluated together at the global scale. Here, we focus on the potential for social and ecological impacts from freshwater stress and storage loss. We find basins with existing freshwater stress are drying (losing storage) disproportionately, exacerbating the challenges facing the water stressed versus non-stressed basins of the world. We map the global gradient in social-ecological vulnerability to freshwater stress and storage loss and identify hotspot basins for prioritization (n = 168). These most-vulnerable basins encompass over 1.5 billion people, 17% of global food crop production, 13% of global gross domestic product, and hundreds of significant wetlands. There are thus substantial social and ecological benefits to reducing vulnerability in hotspot basins, which can be achieved through hydro-diplomacy, social adaptive capacity building, and integrated water resources management practices."

Multiangular spectra of tree bark for common boreal tree species in Europe. Silva Fennica vol. 54 no. 4 article id 10331. https://doi.org/10.14214/sf.10331. \r\n\r\nThe dataset includes average multiangular stem bark reflectance spectra of three common boreal tree species found in Europe: silver birch (Betula pendula Roth), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst.). Bidirectional reflectance factors (BRF) at visible and near-infrared wavelengths (418-924 nm) are reported for each tree species. Multiangular measurements were performed in six different view angles along the principal plane (29, 58, 65, 90, 115, and 140 degrees), using a laboratory goniometer. The 90° view angle is perpendicular to the sample surface, 90° view angle are forward-scattering directions. The goniometer utilized a Specim IQ hyperspectral imaging spectrometer. The nominal illumination angle for the measurements was 40°. The average reflectance spectrum for each tree at each view angle was calculated by averaging over all measured samples. The samples comprised of stem bark taken at different heights along the tree stem, from two individual trees per species. The samples were collected from forest stands located in Keimolanmäki, Vantaa, Finland (60°19´N, 24°50´E), in March-April of 2019, and the measurements were conducted within 12 days from the sample collection. The study stands were typical managed and even-aged forests in Finland, approximately 40 years old, and grew on a mesic site type on mineral soil.\r\n\r\nThe spreadsheet \"multiangular_spectra_juola_et_al_2020.csv\" in this dataset is organized as follows: first column \"tree_species\" (pinus_sylvestris, picea_abies, betula_pendula) indicates the tree species, second column \"view_angle\" (29, 58, 65, 90, 115, 140) indicates the view angle, and the subsequent columns \"wl417.5\"- indicate the measured BRF value at that wavelength. A separate list of the wavelengths (without the prefix \"wl\") is provided in the file \"list_of_wavelengths_juola_et_al_2020.csv\". The encoding of the csv files is UTF-8."

"en": "This dataset contains results from a study to identify modules in human connectomes of inter-regional phase-synchronization, from intra-cerebral stereo-EEG (Electroencephalographic) data. 'Module_assignments.xlsx' contains module assignments, separately for left and right hemispheres, for frequencies from 3 Hz to 320 Hz. Module assignments are provided for different spatial scales, as specified by the 'gamma' parameter of the Louvain community detection method, which we used to identify modules. 'NeurosynthTerms_ConsensusModules.xlsx' contains module assignments for 'consensus modules', i.e. sets of regions consistently assigned to the same module across frequencies and spatial scales. Further, it provides sets of terms related to perceptual, cognitive and motor processing, that are selectively associated to each of the consensus modules."

These oscillatory dynamics have large inter-individual variability that is partly heritable. However, the genetic underpinnings of oscillatory dynamics have remained poorly understood. We investigated whether local and global oscillation dynamics were influenced by polymorphisms in Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) Val158Met and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) Val66Met genes that regulate brain catecholaminergic and serotonergic levels. Resting-state magnetoencephalography (MEG) was recorded from 82 participants and local oscillation amplitudes, their scale-free long-range temporal correlations (LRTCs), and global synchronization were estimated from source-reconstructed MEG data. Both COMT and BDNF polymorphisms influenced local oscillation dynamics, while only BDNF polymorphism influenced global synchronization. Computational modelling of near-critical synchronization dynamics suggested that COMT and BDNF polymorphisms influenced local oscillations via variances in brain net excitation levels. We demonstrate that genetic polymorphisms COMT and BDNF contribute to inter-individual variability in local and global oscillation dynamics.,Resting-state brain activity was recorded from healthy volunteers (N=82, 18–55 years of age; mean age: 29 years; 6 left-handed; 44 female) with 306-channel MEG (Vectorview, Elekta-Neuromag, LtD) at a sampling rate of 600 Hz. The subjects fixated on a central fixation cross throughout the ~8 min resting-state MEG-recording (duration 7.8 ± 2.9 min, mean ± standard deviation). MEG data was preprocessed using temporal signal-space separation with Maxfilter software and artifact removal was carried out using independent component analysis. MNE inverse operators were then computed for all wavelet frequencies and used to project the sensor-space data into source-space. Source-vertex time series were collapsed into cortical parcel time series with individual collapse operators that maximize source-reconstruction accuracy. A cortical parcellation in individual anatomy but with labels shared among the subject was obtained by iteratively splitting the 148-parcel Destrieux atlas into 400 parcels. The parcels were also assigned functional labels based on Yeo’s 7-functional-brain-systems atlas. 26 Morlet wavelets (log-spaced center frequencies 3-60 Hz) were used for obtaining the amplitude and phase time series of cortical parcels. LRTCs in amplitude time series were quantified with detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) where the power-law-scaling exponent β is the slope of the DFA function and obtained with linear regression. Phase synchronization between parcels was computed using the weighted phase-lag index (wPLI). Amplitude, DFA, and phase synchonization values were then collapsed back to the 148-parcel Destrieux atlas, and phase synchonization also to the 7 systems (per hemisphere) of the Yeo atlas.,This data includes mean amplitudes, connectivity matrices, and detrended fluctuation analysis scaling exponents derived from 82 subjects' magnetoencephalographic resting-state recordings. The results of polymorphism analysis can be found, along with parcellation information, in the \"settings\" subfolder. Ecology and Evolution. DOI:10.1002/ece3.8718\r\n\r\nThe dataset includes stem bark reflectance spectra of ten boreal and temperate tree species. We measured hemispherical-directional reflectance factors (HDRF) of stem bark samples. The data were measured using a Specim IQ imaging spectrometer attached to a tree mounting setup. The imaging spectrometer operates in the visible and near-infrared wavelength region (400–1000 nm). The measurements were made in the Greater Helsinki area in Finland, and in Järvselja in Estonia. We measured 20 trees per species, accounting to a total of 200 unique stem bark samples. One sample refers to a hyperspectral reflectance image taken of a single tree stem. The 200 mean spectral signatures (presented in this dataset) were calculated for each sample by averaging the HDRF values over all pixels per wavelength. The measurements were conducted from May to August 2020. All measurements were made under natural illumination conditions and the images were taken in perpendicular view-angle to the tree stem. The dataset includes two tabular files that contain: 1) the mean reflectance spectrum for each of the ten common boreal and temperate tree species (calculated from the 20 samples per species), and 2) all 200 reflectance spectra (20 per tree species). The sampled species were: Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst), silver birch (Betula pendula Roth), grey alder (Alnus incana (L.) Moench), black alder (Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn.), English oak (Quercus robur L.), European aspen (Populus tremula L.), European ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.), Norway maple (Acer platanoides L.), and littleleaf linden (Tilia cordata Mill.).\r\n\r\nThe two spreadsheets are organized as follows: first three rows that start with hashtag (#) contain comments for citing, first column \"tree_species\" (Pinus_sylvestris, Picea_abies, Betula_pendula...) indicates the tree species, and the subsequent columns \"wl397.32\"-\"wl1003.58\" indicate the measured HDRF value at that wavelength. The encoding of the csv file is UTF-8. \r\n\r\nThe data in file \"mean_tree_species_stem_bark_reflectance_spectra_Juola_et_al_2021.csv\" is the same as what can be found in Version 1. "en": "Thickness profile data measured for aluminium oxide thin film grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) using trimethylaluminium and water as reactants at 300 degrees Celsius on an all-silicon lateral high-aspect-ratio (LHAR) test structure of type PillarHall(TM) LHAR3 (layout v1b), nominal gap height 500 nm. Part of this data has been used in the publication \"Saturation profile based conformality analysis for atomic layer deposition: aluminum oxide in lateral high-aspect-ratio channels\" https://doi.org/10.1039/D0CP03358H, where this sample was number 8 (unique manufacturing code V0001, see Table S3 of the supplementary info, which also contains details of the layouts: http://www.rsc.org/suppdata/d0/cp/d0cp03358h/d0cp03358h1.pdf) \r\n\r\nThickness profiles have been measured optically after removal of the top membrane by adhesive tape, by spectroscopic reflectometry in the visible wavelength range. In the optical thickness measurements, the refractive index is assumed constant (refractive index vs. wavelength this has been determined earlier for similar films also grown at 300 degrees Celsius) and thickness is allowed to vary. The optical model consists of smooth single-crystal silicon and ALD aluminium oxide films. Any silicon oxide below the ALD film is counted in the aluminium oxide thickness. Also roughness will impact the measurement result. For each measurement point, the location, the fitted thickness, and the goodness of fit is presented. For the 50x magnification, measurement spot diameter size is estimated as about 5-6 micrometers. The raw data have the centre of measurement as zero point of horizontal axis. The data needs to be shifted horizontally to have the zero point at the beginning of the LHAR cavity. Sometimes, the removal of the membrane has not worked in the beginning of the cavity (where the support pillars in the PillarHall LHAR3 design are more densely located) and the measurement has been made on a place that includes membrane remnants. In such cases, the fit of the optical model to the results has been poor and the data points should be rejected."
