The respondents were asked questions about the role of mobile communication in their relationships. The dataset comprises 21 interviews. The dataset is only available in Finnish.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa on tarkasteltu seurustelevien nuorten kännykän käyttöä. Aineisto koostuu haastatteluista, jotka on tehty vuonna 1999 eri puolella suomea asuville nuorille pareille. Haastateltavat ovat iältään 14 - 23-vuotiaita. Aineisto sisältää yhteensä 17 parin haastattelut. Lisäksi neljä nuorta on osallistunut haastatteluun ilman seurustelukumppaniaan. Suurinta osaa pareista on haastateltu sekä erikseen että yhdessä. Aineisto on yhteismitaltaan noin 853 sivua ja kustakin seurustelusuhteesta on keskusteltu keskimäärin 37 sivun verran. Kaksi haastatelluista nuorista on ollut mukana myös osassa muita tutkimuskertoja. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata. Nuorilta kysyttiin haastatteluissa ensin heidän taustastaan ja matkapuhelimen käytöstään yleisesti. Sen jälkeen parit kertoivat, miten ovat tutustuneet ja minkälainen rooli kännykällä on ollut suhteen alkamisessa. Lisäksi keskusteltiin siitä, onko yhteinen viestintä muuttunut suhteen aikana, millaista viestintä on ja onko seurustelu vaikuttanut yhteydenpitoon ystäväpiirin kanssa. Edelleen selvitettiin, saako suhteen aikana olla yhteydessä muihin tyttöihin tai poikiin, kuinka yksityinen oma kännykkä on ja voiko kännykän välityksellä riidellä tai lopettaa suhdetta. Matkaviestinnän vaikutuksesta suhteeseen ja etäseurustelusta keskusteltiin myös."

"en": "The survey studied Finnish public opinion on European integration, the country's proposed membership in the European Community, and the impact of the membership. Other main themes were the reliability of information sources on EC issues and views on how well the Finnish society functions. First, the respondents were asked whether they were in favour of or against Finland's EC membership, and to what extent their views depended on the terms of the accession treaty (transition periods, exemptions). The respondents were also asked how interested they were in issues connected with the EC and European integration, and how well informed they were of these issues. Opinions on the likelihood of their voting in a referendum on EC membership and likelihood of Finland becoming an EC member state were charted. One topic pertained to the European integration process, and how negatively or positively the respondents viewed the possibility that Finland would participate in common foreign policy, common economic policy, single European currency, etc. The survey studied perceptions of the impact the EC membership would have on Finland (e.g. on standard of living, employment, business conditions, price and wage level, social security, national sovereignty, situation of farmers, pensioners, children and families with children). The respondents were also asked to what extent they agreed with a number of attitudinal statements relating to the EC and Finland's EC membership (e.g. \"the EC membership obliges Finns to comply with many norms and detailed regulations which we do not need or want\"). The survey also studied opinions on the reliability of various information sources (e.g. radio and television, trade unions, company executives, the Prime Minister, the Government, voluntary organisations opposing the membership) on the EC membership issue. The respondents were asked to rate on a scale from 4-10 how various bodies and institutions (the police, the judiciary, Parliament, universities, social security and health care systems, the Government, political parties, etc.) have performed in recent times. The respondents also graded Finland as a welfare state, civilised state, constitutional state, as a democracy, etc. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, size of the municipality, province of residence, vocational education, economic activity, employment sector, trade union membership, and which political party R would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held at that time.",

Myös eri tietolähteiden luotettavuutta EY-asioissa arvioidaan. Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkimussarjan aihepiiriä on laajennettu koskemaan lisäksi yhteiskunnan toimivuutta Suomessa. Tutkimuksen ensimmäisessä aihealueessa vastaajilta kysyttiin, kannattavatko he EY-jäsenyyttä ja millä ehdoilla. Sen jälkeen kartoitettiin, kuinka kiinnostuneita he ovat Euroopan integraatiosta tai kuinka aktiivisesti he seuraavat Suomen EY-jäsenyyteen liittyviä asioita. Lisäksi kysyttiin, kuinka hyvin vastaajat katsoivat tuntevansa EY-asioita ja miten todennäköistä on, että Suomesta tulee EY:n jäsen. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin vastaajien suhtautumista EY:n laajentumiseen ja tiivistämiseen Euroopan unioniksi, jolloin tietyt asiat - myös Suomessa - siirtyisivät liiton hoidettaviksi. Vastaajilta kysyttiin mielipidettä yhteistä ulko-, turvallisuus- ja puolustuspolitiikkaa sekä yhteistä rahaa ja EY-kansalaisuutta kohtaan. Tutkimuksessa haluttiin kartoittaa ihmisten käsityksiä, mitä vaikutusta EY-jäsenyydellä olisi heidän mielestään erilaisiin asioihin Suomessa. Vastaajilta kysyttiin EY:n vaikutusta esimerkiksi seuraaviin asioihin: elintaso, verotus, hintataso, kulttuuriolot, sukupuolten tasa-arvo, byrokratian määrä ja oma asema sekä elämä. Lisäksi vastaajille esitettiin joukko EY-kysymyksistä julkisuudessa esitettyjä väitteitä, joista he ilmaisivat mielipiteensä. Vastaajat saivat myös arvioida, kuinka luotettavina he pitivät eri tietolähteitä EY-jäsenyyttä koskevan tiedon jakajana. Arvioitavina tietolähteinä olivat esimerkiksi sanomalehdet, yritysjohtajat, ammattijärjestöt, hallitus, jäsenyysasiaa selvittävät virkamiehet sekä radio ja televisio. Tutkimuksen toinen osa käsitteli yhteiskunnan toimivuutta Suomessa. Vastaajat antoivat kouluarvosanat eri yhteiskuntatahoille sen perusteella, kuinka hyvin ne ovat hoitaneet oman tehtävänsä. Arvioitavana olivat esimerkiksi eduskunta, kirkko, sosiaaliturvajärjestelmä, poliisi, hallitus, oppositiopuolueet, pankit ja tiedotusvälineet yleensä. Lisäksi vastaajat arvioivat Suomea esimerkiksi hyvinvointivaltiona, oikeusvaltiona ja demokratiana sekä pohtivat Suomen kehitysnäkymiä. Taustatietoina olivat tiedot vastaajien sukupuolesta, ikäryhmästä, asuinkunnan koosta, asuinläänistä, koulutuksesta, ammattiryhmästä, työpaikan toimialasta ja kuulumisesta ammatillisiin keskusjärjestöihin. Lisäksi kysyttiin, minkä puolueen ehdokasta vastaajat äänestäisivät, jos eduskuntavaalit pidettäisiin nyt."

"en": "The survey studied Finnish public opinion on the country's proposed membership in the European Union, and the forthcoming referendum on EU membership. Finnish perceptions of the EU were also charted. The respondents were asked whether they thought Finland should join the EU or not, how firm their opinion was, and how dependent on the issue of agricultural subsidies. Opinions on agricultural/farming subsidies in general were queried. The respondents were asked how interested they were in issues connected with the EU and European integration process, and how well informed they were of these issues. One question asked whether they intended to vote in the referendum on EU membership. Opinions on the likelihood of Finland becoming an EU member state were charted. Regarding the European integration process, the respondents were asked how negatively or positively they viewed the possibility that Finland would participate in common foreign policy, common security and defence policy, single European currency, etc. The survey studied perceptions of the impact EU membership would have on Finland (e.g. on standard of living, employment, business conditions, crime, social security, national sovereignty, science and research, education, disparity). The respondents were also asked to what extent they agreed with fifty attitudinal statements relating to the EU and Finland's EU membership (e.g. \"If Finland did not join the EU now, it would be able to negotiate better terms of accession later\" or \"Compared to Finland, social security is just as good or better in many EU member states\"). Perceptions of the EU were studied with the help of various characterisations (secretive, democratic, promotes welfare in Europe, unreliable negotiation partner, etc.). Finally, the respondents were asked to estimate the percentage of Finns who would vote against the membership in the referendum. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, size of the municipality, province of residence, vocational education, economic activity, employment sector, trade union membership, and which political party R would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held at that time.",
"fi": "EVAn EU-asennetutkimus syksy 1994 kartoittaa, mitä Suomessa ajatellaan lähestyvästä EU-kansanäänestyksestä ja mahdollisesta jäsenyydestä Euroopan unionissa. Vastaajat arvioivat myös Euroopan unioniin liittyviä henkilökohtaisia mielikuviaan. Vastaajilta kysyttiin aluksi, kuinka kiinnostuneita he ovat Suomen EU-jäsenyyteen liittyvistä asioista tai kuinka aktiivisesti Suomen EU-jäsenyyteen liittyviä asioita tulee seurattua. Lisäksi kysyttiin, kuinka hyvin vastaajat katsovat tuntevansa EU-asioita ja kuinka todennäköisesti he aikovat käydä vaaliuurnalla kansanäänestyspäivänä. Seuraavaksi vastaajat pohtivat EU-jäsenyyden vaikutuksia maahamme esimerkiksi talouden, kulttuurin ja hyvinvoinnin saralla. Lisäksi tutkimus ottaa tarkasteluun joukon julkisuudessa esitettyjä EU-aiheisia väittämiä, joita vastaajat arvioivat. Väittämät liittyivät esimerkiksi Suomen päätösvaltaan, turvallisuuspolitiikkaan ja ympäristökysymyksiin. Tutkimus paljastaa myös vastaajien henkilökohtaisia käsityksiä ja mielikuvia Euroopan unionista, esimerkiksi kuinka demokraattiseksi, byrokraattiseksi ja vastuulliseksi he kokevat EU:n. Lopuksi vastaajat kertovat oman arvionsa kansanäänestyksen lopputuloksesta. Taustatietoina olivat tiedot vastaajien sukupuolesta, ikäryhmästä, asuinkunnan koosta, asuinläänistä, koulutuksesta, ammattiryhmästä, toimialasta ja kuulumisesta ammatillisiin keskusjärjestöihin. "en": "The survey focused on the well-being of staff in primary and secondary schools and upper secondary institutions in Finland. Staff opinions on school facilities, working conditions, social relationships, and means for self-fulfilment in school were studied, as well as their health status. The survey contained both statements and multiple choice questions. The respondents indicated to what extent they agreed with the statements using a five-point scale (i.e. from \"strongly agree\" to \"strongly disagree\"). School facilities were studied with a number of questions about the classroom (e.g. size, temperature, ventilation, desks), toilet facilities, the dining room, the schoolyard and the school building (e.g. safety, functionality). Access to the occupational health nurse and counselling supervision were charted as well as opinions on the school timetable, school rules and punishments, order in the classroom, pace of work, and the workload. The statements relating to social relationships canvassed relations between staff members, and between the staff and students. The survey also covered opinions on whether parents were participating in solving problems concerning their children or in developing the school, and whether parents appreciated the work done by the staff or were willing to discuss issues with teachers. Views were probed on whether staff members were treated equally, and whether it was easy to get along with the headmaster or get help from him/her if needed. In addition, the respondents were asked whether they had been bullied or harassed at work during the ongoing term and whether they themselves had bullied or harassed someone else. The statements on self-fulfilment explored different aspects of working in a school. Views were probed on whether staff opinions were taken into account in developing the school and in drawing up school rules, and whether the school encouraged the staff to express their views. The respondents were asked whether they felt that their work is appreciated, whether they had found a suitable method for doing their work, and whether they received help from the headmaster/their supervisor or support from other staff members. Regarding health, the respondents were asked about their self-perceived general health and whether they had had various symptoms (e.g. stomach ache, sleeping problems, headache, fear, anxiety) during the ongoing term. Background variables included the respondent's gender, working hours (part-time or full time), number of years working in the school, and type of contract.",

Kyselyn teemat ovat koulun olosuhteet, sosiaaliset suhteet, itsensä toteuttamisen mahdollisuudet ja terveydentila. Kysymykset on esitetty väittäminä ja monivalintakysymyksinä. Väittämiä arvioidaan viisiportaisella asteikolla \"täysin samaa mieltä\" - \"täysin eri mieltä\". Koulun olosuhteita kartoittavat kysymykset liittyvät koulun tiloihin ja toimintaan. Henkilökunnalta kysytään esimerkiksi luokkien koosta, lämpötilasta, ilmanvaihdosta, tilojen siisteydestä, wc-tiloista sekä pihan ja koulurakennuksen viihtyisyydestä ja turvallisuudesta. Vastaajat arvioivat myös oppituntien työrauhaa, työn määrän sopivuutta, työskentelyn kiireisyyttä, koulun sääntöjen järkevyyttä sekä onko työterveyshoitajan luo ja työnohjaukseen helppo päästä. Sosiaalisiin suhteisiin liittyvissä väittämissä tarkastellaan henkilökunnan keskinäisiä suhteita, suhdetta oppilaisiin ja oppilaiden vanhempien osallistumista koulunkäyntiin. Vastaajilta kysytään esimerkiksi yhteistyön sujumisesta, työtoverien toisilleen tarjoamasta avusta, oppilaiden ystävällisyydestä ja onko rehtorin kanssa helppo tulla toimeen. Henkilökunta arvioi myös, arvostavatko oppilaiden vanhemmat koulun työtä ja osallistuvatko he lastaan koskevien ongelmien selvittämiseen. Lisäksi kartoitetaan esiintyykö työyhteisössä työpaikkakiusaamista ja onko vastaaja itse työpaikkakiusaamisen kohteena kyseisessä koulussa. Itsensä toteuttamisen mahdollisuuksiin liittyvät väittämät koskevat työskentelyä koulussa. Esimerkiksi kokeeko vastaaja, että hänen työtään arvostetaan kouluyhteisössä, hänen mielipiteensä otetaan huomioon koulun kehittämisessä ja onko vastaaja löytänyt itselleen sopivan työskentelytavan, arvostaako hän omaa työtään koulussa ja saako hän tarvitessaan apua rehtorilta/esimieheltä. Terveydentilaa koskevissa kysymyksissä vastaaja arvioi onko hänellä ollut erilaisia oireita ja sairauksia (mm. vatsakipuja, vaikeuksia päästä uneen tai heräilemistä öisin, päänsärkyä, alakuloisuutta ja pelkoa) kuluvan lukukauden aikana. Taustakysymykset ovat sukupuoli, työuran pituus kyseisessä koulussa, työsuhteen laatu ja työskentelyn kokopäiväisyys/osa-aikaisuus."

"fi": "Tutkimuksessa on selvitetty myöhäisnuorten matkapuhelimen käyttöä. Aineistossa tarkastellaan nuorten näkökulmasta kännykän merkityksiä ja rooleja nuorten arkipäivän elämässä, kaveripiirissä ja koulumaailmassa. Aineisto koostuu 38 haastattelusta, jotka on tehty vuosina 2000-2002 eri puolilla Suomea asuville lähinnä noin 16-19-vuotiaille nuorille. Aineisto on yhteismitaltaan noin 733 sivua, yksi haastattelu on pituudeltaan keskimäärin 19 sivua. Suurin osa haastatteluista on yksilöhaastatteluja, mutta mukana on myös 10 parihaastattelua ja kaksi kolmihenkisen ryhmän haastattelua. Osaa nuorista on haastateltu myös aikaisempina tutkimuskertoina. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata. Haastatteluissa keskusteltiin nuorten kanssa laajasti kännykän käyttökulttuurista. Nuoret kertoivat myös vapaasti perheestään, harrastuksistaan ja kavereistaan, minkä yhteyteen kännykän käyttöä koskevat kysymykset usein kytkeytyivät. Kysymyksiä ovat olleet mm.: milloin kännykkä on otettu käyttöön perheessä, millainen osto- ja käyttöönottoprosessi oli, miksi on mahdollisesti vaihtanut kännykkää, millainen kännykän käyttäjä on omasta mielestään, milloin pitää kännykkää mukana ja millaista on kännykän hyväksyttävä käyttö. Lisäksi on käsitelty sellaisia aiheita kuin tyttöjen ja poikien erilainen kännykän käyttökulttuuri, suhde teknologiaan ja mediaan yleensä, kännykkäteknologian kehitys, operaattorit, kännykkämerkit ja mallit sekä mainonta. Kolmessa haastattelussa aiheena on ollut erityisesti eri operaattoreiden internetsivujen arviointi."

"en": "The survey focused on school well-being in grades 7-9 in Finland, studying student opinions on school facilities, the learning environment, social relationships in school, and means for self-fulfilment in school, as well as the students' perceived health status. The survey contained both statements and multiple choice questions. The respondents indicated to what extent they agreed with the statements using a five-point scale (i.e. from \"strongly agree\" to \"strongly disagree\"). School facilities were studied with a number of questions about the classroom (e.g. size, temperature, ventilation, desks), toilet facilities, the dining room, the schoolyard and the school building (e.g. safety, functionality). Access to the school nurse and the school welfare officer were charted as well as opinions on the school timetable, order in the classroom, school rules and punishments, and the amount of school work. The statements relating to social relationships canvassed student-student relationships (e.g. classmate support, being accepted by others) and teacher-student relationships (e.g. fairness and friendliness of teachers). The respondents were asked whether they had been bullied at school during the ongoing term and whether they themselves had bullied someone else. Parental attitudes to homework and school were studied. The respondents were asked, for instance, whether their parents appreciated their school work, encouraged them to achieve better performance in school and helped them with homework if needed. The statements on self-fulfilment explored different aspects of school work. Opinions were charted on whether student opinions were taken into account in developing the school and in drawing up school rules (school democracy), and whether teachers encouraged students to express their views. Views were probed on whether the respondents appreciated their school work, whether school work was easy, whether they had found a study method that suited them, and whether they had a chance to receive remedial teaching if needed. Regarding health, the respondents were asked about their perceived general health and whether they had had various symptoms (e.g. stomach ache, sleeping problems, headache, fear, anxiety) during the ongoing term. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, grade, and class id.",

Väittämiä arvioidaan kolmeportaisella asteikolla \"samaa mieltä\", \"ei samaa eikä eri mieltä\" ja \"eri mieltä\". Koulun olosuhteita kartoittavat kysymykset liittyvät koulun tiloihin ja toimintaan. Oppilailta kysytään esimerkiksi luokkahuoneen koosta, lämpötilasta, wc-tiloista sekä pihan ja koulurakennuksen viihtyisyydestä ja turvallisuudesta. He arvioivat myös oppituntien työrauhaa, lukujärjestystä ja onko terveydenhoitajan luo helppo päästä käymään. Sosiaalisiin suhteisiin liittyvissä väittämissä tarkastellaan luokkakavereiden keskinäisiä suhteita, opettaja-oppilassuhdetta ja vanhempien suhtautumista koulunkäyntiin. Vastaajilta kysytään esimerkiksi ryhmissä työskentelyn onnistumisesta luokassa, luokkakaverien tarjoamasta avusta, opettajien ystävällisyydestä ja vanhempien osallistumisesta koulun vanhempainiltoihin. Lisäksi kartoitetaan, onko vastaajaa kiusattu koulussa kuluvan lukukauden aikana ja onko hän itse osallistunut kiusaamiseen. Itsensä toteuttamisen mahdollisuuksiin liittyvät väittämät koskevat koulutyötä. Esimerkiksi kokeeko vastaaja, että opettaja kuuntelee hänen mielipiteitään, huomioidaanko oppilaiden mielipiteitä koulun asioissa, huolehtiiko vastaaja kouluasioistaan, pitääkö hän koulutyötä tärkeänä ja saako hän tarvitessaan tukiopetusta. Terveydentilaa koskevissa kysymyksissä vastaaja arvioi onko hänellä ollut erilaisia oireita ja sairauksia (mm. vatsakipu, vaikeudet päästä uneen tai heräileminen öisin, päänsärky, alakuloisuus ja pelko) kuluvan lukukauden aikana. "en": "The survey charted Finnish gambling habits, frequency of gambling, amount of money gambled as well as views on problem gambling and gambling policy and regulation. The term gambling is used here as an umbrella term for lotteries, slot machines, betting, bookmaking, the pools, roulette wheels, and card and dice tables as well as online variations of all of these. First perceptions on gambling were studied. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to gambling, such as \"people should have the right to gamble whenever they want\" and \"gambling is detrimental to family life.\" The respondents were asked whether they thought gambling was a problem in Finland, whether the problems associated with gambling had increased or decreased and if the government monopoly and the age limit of 18 were effective ways of limiting problem gambling. The next section of the survey focused on the respondents' experiences of gambling. The respondents were presented with a list of various games (e.g. lotto games and scratchcards of Veikkaus, the National Lottery of Finland, games of chance in a casino and slot machines of Finland's Slot Machine Association, RAY) and asked whether they had played them during the previous 12 months. Other questions charted online gambling in the previous 12 months, gambling websites visited, and frequency of gambling activities. The respondents were asked to estimate the average weekly sum spent on gambling, their largest win in the previous 12 months, and at what age they had gambled for the first time. The respondents' relationship to gambling was examined. They were asked how often they returned another day to try to win back the money they had lost, whether they had claimed to be winning at gambling even though they were actually losing money, whether they had gambled more than they had intended to, and whether other people had criticised them for gambling. Some questions explored whether the respondents had felt guilty while gambling, whether they had wanted to stop betting money or gambling but could not do so, and whether they had hidden their gambling habits from family members. Some questions covered arguments with the people the respondents lived with over how the respondents handled money and whether those arguments had centred on their gambling. Regarding gambling by family members, relatives and friends, the respondents were asked whether any people close to them had problems with gambling, what kind of harm these gambling problems had caused, and how much concern the problems had caused the respondents. The final section pertained to health, well-being and non-gambling games. The respondents were asked to assess their current health status and were asked how often they had felt nervous, calm, despondent and happy in the previous four weeks. Smoking and alcohol use were charted. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they played video games or mobile games, how many hours they had played them in the previous week and month, and whether they felt they might have a problem with these kinds of games. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, marital status, region, municipality type, education, monthly net income, economic activity and occupational status as well as the number of underage children.",

"en": "The survey charting neighbour relations and disputes was funded by the Academy of Finland ('The Future of Living and Housing' programme, 'Neighbour Disputes and Housing in Finland' project). Concerning interaction with neighbours, the respondents were asked how often they visited, spent time with, helped and had conversations with their neighbours as well as how many neighbours they greeted and talked to when encountering them. Social networks were surveyed with questions about how many friends the respondents had in different groups (relatives, study/work community, neighbourhood, hobbies, other group) as well as the number of people in these groups they had difficulty getting along with. The respondents' perceptions of their neighbours, their neighbourhood, and themselves as neighbours were charted by asking to what extent they agreed with a number of statements (e.g. \"My neighbours can generally be trusted\", \"There is a number of different social problems in my neighbourhood\", \"If my neighbour causes disturbances, I will speak to them directly about it\"). Some statements were presented to probe opinions on what good neighbour relations should be like (\"Nowadays people care less about their neighbours than they used to\"). Regarding disturbances and nuisance caused by neighbours, the respondents were asked what kind of problems they had experienced (e.g. noise from renovation, loud parties, cigarette smoke, gossiping, boundary disputes), how easily they intervened with problems in the neighbourhood, and what their reaction would be if they were told that they cause disturbances to the neighbours. Neighbour disputes and their resolution was charted with questions about the frequency of disputes between the neighbours, own involvement in the disputes, ways used to attempt to resolve the dispute, whether the respondents had ever moved house because of difficult neighbours, and whether the respondents had ever contacted or planned to contact the authorities because of a neighbour dispute. Those respondents who had planned to contact or had contacted the authorities were asked at which point in a neighbour dispute they would contact them. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, household composition, economic activity, education, monthly gross income, self-perceived health status and quality of life as well as housing tenure, type of accommodation, years lived in the accommodation, type of neighbourhood, and municipality type.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksen pääteemoja olivat naapuruussuhteet ja naapuruuskiistat. Tutkimuksen on rahoittanut Suomen Akatemia (Asumisen tulevaisuus -tutkimusohjelma, Naapuruuskiistat ja asuminen Suomessa -hanke). Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kanssakäymistä naapureiden kanssa sekä vastaajien ystävien ja tuttavien määrää eri elämänpiireissä. Lisäksi tutkittiin vastaajien käsityksiä omista naapureistaan ja naapurustostaan sekä kysyttiin mielipiteitä naapuruudesta. Tutkimuksessa käsiteltiin myös naapurustosta aiheutuvia häiriöitä ja ongelmia sekä vastaajien tapaa käsitellä näitä. Kysyttiin myös, onko vastaaja joutunut joskus muuttamaan pois asunnostaan hankalien naapureiden vuoksi sekä onko vastaaja joutunut ottamaan yhteyttä viranomaisiin (ympäristö- tai rakennusvalvontaviranomaiset, poliisi ym.) naapureiden kanssa tulleen kiistan vuoksi. Aineistossa tarkastellaan nuorten näkökulmasta kännykän merkityksiä ja rooleja nuorten arkipäivän elämässä, kaveripiirissä ja koulumaailmassa. Aineisto koostuu 36 haastattelusta, jotka on tehty vuonna 1999 eri puolella Suomea asuville yläasteikäisille pojille. Aineisto on yhteismitaltaan noin 1017 sivua, yksi haastattelu on pituudeltaan keskimäärin 28 sivua. Suurin osa haastatteluista on yksilöhaastatteluja, mutta mukana on myös neljä parihaastattelua. Osaa nuorista on haastateltu uudelleen myöhempinä tutkimuskertoina. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja on helppo selata. Haastatteluissa keskusteltiin nuorten kanssa laajasti kännykän käyttökulttuurista. Nuoret kertoivat myös vapaasti perheestään, harrastuksistaan ja kavereistaan, minkä yhteyteen kännykän käyttöä koskevat kysymykset usein kytkeytyivät. Kysymyksiä ovat olleet mm.: milloin kännykkä on otettu käyttöön perheessä, millainen osto- ja käyttöönottoprosessi oli, millaista käyttömäärä on, miten hinnat vaikuttavat käyttöön, miten tekstiviestiä käytetään ja millaista kännykän hyväksyttävä käyttö on. Lisäksi on käsitelty sellaisia aiheita kuin tyttöjen ja poikien erilainen kännykän käyttökulttuuri, uudet haluttavat toiminnot, kännykkäteknologian kehitys, operaattorit, kännykkämerkit ja mallit sekä mainonta."

Kyselyssä kartoitetaan opiskelijoiden kokemuksia Tampereen yliopistossa opiskelusta sekä ajatuksia tulevaisuudesta. Tätä vuosittain toteutettavaa kyselyä on kerätty vuodesta 2004 lähtien. Aluksi kyselyssä esitettiin opiskeluun liittyviä väitteitä, joissa olivat esillä yliopisto-opiskeluun liittyvien opiskelusuunnitelmien täyttyminen sekä opintojen tavoitteet. Seuraavaksi vastaajia pyydettiin ottamaan kantaa opiskeluympäristöön liittyviin väitteisiin, kuten opiskeluyhteisöön osaksi pääsemiseen sekä riittävän tiedon saamiseen opiskelusta. Lisäksi vastaajilta tiedusteltiin tärkeimpiä kehittämiskohtia, joilla voitaisiin edistää oppimista. Opintojen etenemistä haitanneita tekijöitä selvitettiin muun muassa kurssikirjallisuuden saamista, arvosteluperiaatteita, elämäntilannetta sekä tutkinnon epäselvyyksiä koskevilla kysymyksillä. Lisäksi kysyttiin mieluisinta kanavaa opiskeluun liittyvien tietojen saamiseksi sekä sähköisiä palveluja koskevia parannusehdotuksia. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin vastaajien mielipiteitä kansainvälistymisjaksoista ja niiden muodoista sekä sitä, miten jaksoja voitaisiin edistää. Lopuksi kysyttiin vielä yleisesti opintojen sujuvuudesta. Taustamuuttujina aineistossa ovat muun muassa ikä, sukupuoli, pohjakoulutus, koulutusala, yksikkö ja suoritettujen opintojen määrä opintopisteissä. "en": "This survey study charted domestic violence met by highly educated women in Finland. The study focused on the forms, prevalence and effects of domestic violence. The survey also examined the importance of faith as a coping resource in abusive relationships. The study was carried out as a part of a Master's thesis, and it is also a part of the international \"Domestic Violence Met by Educated Women\" (DVMEW) research project, which is a Grundtvig Multilateral Project funded by the European Commission's Lifelong Learning programme. The respondents were first asked about violence they may have seen or experienced in their childhood home or in other families' homes. The women were also asked to evaluate the intensity of the violence they had experienced in their childhood. Next, the participants' experiences of their current or latest steady relationship were examined with questions about whether the woman identified, physically and mentally, as the stronger or the weaker party, and whether or not the woman felt like she was valued in the relationship. The partner's education level in relation to the woman's own educational background was also enquired, as well as the general quality of the relationship. The respondents' opinions on their current or latest partner's character were recorded with yes/no answers on a set of characteristics, such as \"He/she tries to restrict me from meeting with my friends and relatives\"; \"He/she demands to know who I am with and when I will return home\"; \"He/she threatens to harm the children\"; and \"He/she intentionally damages our shared property\". The women were also asked about how frequently during the relationship their partner had, for instance, belittled them, used derogatory names, or acted in a violent manner (e.g. by slapping, hitting, throwing with a hard object, strangling, and pressuring or forcing to have sex with them). The next questions concerned the first signs that had led to serious acts of domestic violence, according to the respondents who had experienced violence in their current relationship. The women assessed their common reactions at the moment of the violent act with yes/no questions. The frequency of violent acts, the women's own means of defence, physical injuries and other results of abuse, such as nightmares and lack of concentration, were enquired about as well. The respondents' views on the source of the partner's violent behaviour were also probed. The respondents were asked if they had sought help from different authorities and other professionals, and whether or not they had been satisfied with the help they had received. Reasons for not seeking help were also examined. The importance of faith in the respondents' lives was investigated next. The respondents were asked to describe if faith had worked as a coping resource in an abusive relationship or if it had had negative effects during times of domestic violence. Views were also examined on other possible coping resources and the best means for coping in a relationship. The respondents whose partners had stopped acting violently toward them were asked to evaluate reasons behind it. Finally, the respondents answered similar questions about domestic violence as before, but regarding an earlier relationship. The survey started by charting the respondents' background information. Mandatory questions included the woman's marital status and education level. Background variables also included the respondent's and her children's ages, number of people in the household, and the respondent's economic independence in the relationship.",

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finnish municipalities. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, job satisfaction, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours, and contracts over the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. Further questions covered team work, and whether there had been conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Incidents of bullying and violence were charted. Next set of questions covered the respondent's autonomy at work and other job characteristics, overtime and its compensation, flexible working time arrangements, and R's membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training etc were explored as well as pay and bonus systems, and satisfaction with pay. Psychosocial working environment was charted with a number of questions, for instance, whether employees were treated equally, how supervisors handled development ideas suggested by subordinates and so on. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. The respondents' participation in job-related training and development was investigated. One theme pertained to job satisfaction. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to staff sufficiency, organisation of work, access to information, physical or mental stress etc. They were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Opinions on the employment situation in Finland and on changes happening in working life were charted. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender and type of contract was explored. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they had done their main work from home or somewhere else outside of workplace (telework). Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, major region (NUTS2), type of municipality, education, occupational status, industry of employment, employer type, status in employment, economic activity, weekly working hours, additional jobs, whether R worked for a municipality or a federation of municipalities and in which sector. Information on age, gender, major region, type of municipality and education level were obtained from registers. Other background variables were obtained from the Labour Force Survey 2007 telephone interviews which were often conducted together with the Finnish Working Life Barometer interview.",

Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin suomalaisen työelämän laatua palkansaajien näkökulmasta vuonna 2007. Ensimmäiset kysymykset koskivat työsuhteen pituutta ja luonnetta sekä työpaikan henkilöstöä. Esimerkiksi kysyttiin vuoden aikana tapahtuneista muutoksista henkilöstön lukumäärässä, irtisanomisista ja lomautuksista. Seuraavat kysymykset koskivat työpaikan ilmapiiriä, kuten esiintyykö työpaikalla ristiriitoja tai henkistä ja fyysistä väkivaltaa. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin työtehtävistä ja työn luonteesta sekä palkkaukseen liittyvistä asioista, kuten ylityökorvauksista, lisistä ja tulospalkkioista sekä vastaajan suhtautumisesta palkkaukseensa. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin vielä muun muassa työkykyyn ja työterveyteen liittyviä asioita. Lisäksi kysyttiin, esiintyykö vastaajan työorganisaatiossa syrjintää tai eriarvoista kohtelua, joka perustuu esimerkiksi ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen luonteeseen tai työntekijän syntyperään. Barometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2007) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala. Barometrin sisällöstä pääosa on pidetty samanlaisena eri vuosina. Vuonna 2007 uutena asiana mukaan on otettu etä- ja mobiilityö, jota koskevat tiedot kerättiin työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2007) yhteydessä. Myös palkkausjärjestelmien muutosten seuraamista on edelleen jatkettu."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finnish municipalities. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, job satisfaction, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. The year 2005 survey contained amended and new questions on pay systems. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours, contracts and organisational structure over the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. Further questions covered team work, and whether there had been conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Incidents of bullying and violence were charted. Next set of questions covered autonomy and influence at work, overtime and its compensation, and membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training, support from supervisors etc were charted as well as pay systems and satisfaction with the workplace. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. Other questions covered workplace characteristics and the respondents' participation in job-related training and development. The respondents were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Opinions were charted on employment situation in Finland and what kind of changes were happening in working life in, for instance, relating to management style, possibility to influence decisions, the financial situation of their organisation. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational health and safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, illnesses, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. The respondents were asked whether they would be willing to give up work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender or contract type was explored. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, type of municipality, major region (NUTS2), region (NUTS3), occupational group, status in employment, industry of employment, employer type, weekly working hours, additional jobs, industry of additional job, education, whether R worked for a municipality or a federation of municipalities and in which sector. Most background variables were obtained from the Labour Force Survey 2005 telephone interviews.",

Lisäksi kysyttiin, esiintyykö vastaajan työorganisaatiossa syrjintää tai eriarvoista kohtelua, joka perustuu esimerkiksi ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen luonteeseen tai työntekijän syntyperään. Kunta-alan työolobarometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2005) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala. Barometrin sisällöstä pääosa on pidetty samanlaisena eri vuosina. Vuonna 2005 uudistettiin ja laajennettiin palkkaustapoja koskenutta osiota."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finnish municipalities. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay and working time arrangements, satisfaction with the job, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, telework, and bullying and discrimination at work. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, and what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers and type of contracts during the past 12 months. Further questions charted whether people had been transferred from other units and whether the employer had used temporary agency employees. Questions also covered team work, whether there had been conflicts at the workplace and between what groups. Incidents of bullying, harassment and violence were charted. Next set of questions investigated the respondent's autonomy and influence at work and other job characteristics, overtime and its compensation, flexible working time arrangements, local bargaining on working time, and R's membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload and pace of work, safety at work etc were explored as well as pay and bonus systems, pay bargaining and satisfaction with pay. Psychosocial working environment was charted with a number of questions, for instance, whether there was support for trying new things and so on. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. The respondents' participation in job-related training and development was investigated. One theme pertained to job satisfaction. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to staff sufficiency, organisation of work, access to information, physical or mental stress etc. They were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks would be changed over the next year. Views were probed on the employer's economic situation, employment situation in Finland and possible changes in working life. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational health and safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, illnesses and disabilities, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. The respondents were asked about working from home (telework), doing work somewhere else outside of workplace and being in contact with clients or workplace outside of normal working hours. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender and type of contract was explored as well as whether the respondents had colleagues of other nationality or ethnic origin. Background variables included the respondent's year of birth, age, gender, region, type of municipality, education level, economic activity, status in employment, industry of employment, employer type, weekly working hours, and additional jobs. Information on age, gender, region, type of municipality and education level were obtained from registers. The other background variables were obtained from the Labour Force Survey 2011 telephone interviews which were often conducted together with the Finnish Working Life Barometer interview.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin suomalaisen työelämän laatua kunta-alan palkansaajien näkökulmasta vuonna 2011. Kunta-alan työolobarometri perustuu työ- ja elinkeinoministeriön vuosittain kaikilta toimialoilta keräämään valtakunnalliseen työolobarometriaineistoon. Kuntaryhmän toimeksiannosta laajennetussa otoksessa on vuosittain syys-lokakuussa haastateltu puhelimitse n. 600-700 kunta-alalla työskentelevää henkilöä. Aluksi tiedusteltiin kuinka kauan vastaaja oli ollut nykyisellä työpaikallaan sekä kerättiin tietoja työpaikan henkilöstömäärästä ja siinä tapahtuneista muutoksista viimeisen vuoden aikana. Samalla selvitettiin, millaisiin työsuhteisiin uusia työntekijöitä oli otettu, käytettiinkö vuokratyöntekijöitä, esiintyikö työpaikalla ristiriitoja eri henkilöstöryhmien, alaisten tai esimiesten välillä. Työilmapiirin ja työturvallisuuden kartoitusta jatkettiin tiedustelemalla henkisen ja fyysisen väkivallan yleisyyttä erilaisin kysymyksin. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin kykenikö vastaaja vaikuttamaan työpaikallaan työtehtäviin, työtahtiin ja työnjakoon. Tämän jälkeen selvitettiin, oliko vastaaja tehnyt elo-syyskussa säännöllisen työajan ylittävää työtä, josta oli saanut korvauksen kokonaan tai osittain rahana tai vapaana ja oliko tehnyt sellaista ylityötä, josta ei ollut saanut lainkaan korvausta. Työajan joustoa selvitettiin tiedustelemalla, oliko vastaajan työpaikalla käytössä liukuva työaika. Samoin tiedusteltiin, oliko työpaikalla valittu työntekijöiden edustaja, kuten luottamusmies. Työpaikalla tapahtuneita muutoksia viimeksi kuluneen 12 kuukauden ajalta selvitettiin työtahdin, työturvallisuuden, esimiehiltä ja työtovereilta saadun kannustuksen ja tuen osalta. Edelleen tiedusteltiin olivatko mahdollisuudet käyttää ammattitaitoa ja kykyjä työssä muuttuneet. Palkkaan liittyen tiedusteltiin, kuinka palkka-asioista sovittiin, vaikuttiko palkkaan se, kuinka monta vuotta vastaaja oli ollut työssä, käytiinkö järjestelmällisiä kehityskeskusteluja, vaikuttiko henkilökohtainen suoriutuminen palkkaan, oliko käytössä ryhmään tai tulosyksikköön perustuvia tulospalkkioita, kuuluiko vastaaja mm. osakepalkkio- tai optiojärjestelmään. Lisäksi kysyttiin kokiko vastaaja palkkauksen oikeudenmukaiseksi, kannustavaksi, kilpailukykyiseksi ja palkitsevaksi. Seuraavaksi vastaajat arvioivat työpaikkaansa muun muassa sen suhteen, olivatko työntekijöiden ja johdon suhteet avoimet ja luottamukselliset, oliko työpaikka sellainen, jossa oppi koko ajan uusia asioita, suhtautuivatko esimiehet rakentavasti työntekijöiden muutosehdotuksiin ja kannustettiinko työntekijöitä kokeilemaan uusia asioita. Seuraavaksi selvitettiin, oliko vastaaja ollut viimeisen vuoden aikana koulutuksessa, oli hän kehittänyt ammattitaitoaan osallistumalla sivutoimisesti koulutukseen, josta ei ollut saanut palkkaa, ja kannustettiinko työpaikalla kouluttautumaan tarjoamalla esimerkiksi uusia työtehtäviä tai parempaa palkkausta. Seuraavaksi esitettiin joukko väittämiä, jotka liittyivät esimerkiksi työpaikan organisointiin, työtehtävien määrään, tietojen avoimeen välittämiseen, työn fyysisyyteen ja työn raskauteen. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, kuinka hyvinä he pitivät mahdollisuuksiaan löytää työtä, mikäli jäisivät työttömiksi, he myös arvioivat yleistä työllisyystilannetta vuoden kuluttua. Työelämässä tapahtuneita muutoksia arvioitiin mm. työnteon mielekkyyden, tasa-arvon ja esimiesten johtamistavan osalta. Vastaajat arvioivat oman työpaikkansa kokonaisuudessaan asteikolla nollasta kymmeneen. Seuraavaksi käsiteltiin työpaikan turvallisuuteen ja työympäristöön liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajat arvioivat omaa työkykyään sekä kertoivat mahdollisista vammoistaan ja sairauspoissaoloistaan. Vastaajan vireyttä, toimeliaisuutta, toiveikkuutta selvitettiin muutamalla kysymyksellä. Seuraavaksi esitettiin kysymyksiä, jotka liittyivät kotona työskentelyyn ja muualla kuin kotona tai työpaikalla työskentelyn. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, oliko hänen työpaikallaan muihin kansalaisuuksiin kuuluvia muualta Suomeen muuttaneita työntekijöitä, esiintyikö työpaikalla ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen määrä- tai osa-aikaisuuteen tai syntyperään perustuvaa syrjintää. Lopuksi tiedusteltiin oliko vastaaja kunnan vai kuntayhtymän työntekijä, ja millä kunta-alan sektorista hän työskenteli. Työolobarometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2011) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala."

"en": "The data consist of 58 transcribed interviews of Academy of Finland Research Professors (nowadays Academy Professors) who held the post between 1975 and 1995. A permeating theme in the interviews was the internationalization of Finnish scientific research. Discussions covered the impact of the focus areas chosen in Finnish research policy, i.e. internationalization and advancing high-level research, on the interviewees' fields of study. Other topics included the interviewees' research careers, choosing research topics, and the procedure involved in appointing a Research Professor. The interviewees were selected through judgment sampling. The accuracy of transcriptions made from interview recordings varied between interviews and topics. Some topics were not transcribed at all. Background variables included the interviewee's name, year of birth, field of study and organization. The dataset is only available in Finnish.",

Aineistossa keskustellaan suomalaisen tiedepolitiikan painopistealueiden - kansainvälistymisen ja huippututkimuksen edistämisen - vaikutuksista haastateltavien tieteenaloille. Haastatteluissa keskustellaan myös tutkijaprofessori-virkanimitykseen liittyvistä proseduureista. "en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finnish municipalities. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, satisfaction with the job, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. The year 2009 study contained new questions on cooperation negotiations. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, and what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours, contracts, and tasks during the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. A number of questions pertained to co-operation negotiations, their process and results. Further questions covered team work, whether there had been conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Incidents of bullying and violence were charted. Next set of questions investigated the respondent's autonomy at work and other job characteristics, overtime and its compensation, flexible working time arrangements, and R's membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training etc were explored as well as pay and bonus systems, and satisfaction with pay. Psychosocial working environment was charted with a number of questions, for instance, whether employees were treated equally, was there support for trying new things and so on. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. The respondents' participation in job-related training and development was investigated. One theme pertained to job satisfaction. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to staff sufficiency, organisation of work, access to information, physical or mental stress etc. They were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Views were probed on the employer's financial situation, effects of the economic recession on the workplace, employment situation in Finland and possible changes in working life. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender and type of contract was explored. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, major region (NUTS2), type of municipality, education, economic activity, status in employment, industry of employment, occupational group, employer type, weekly working hours, additional jobs, whether R worked for a municipality or a federation of municipalities and in which sector. Information on age, gender, major region, type of municipality and education level were obtained from registers. The other background variables were obtained from the Labour Force Survey 2009 telephone interviews which were often conducted together with the Finnish Working Life Barometer interview.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin suomalaisen työelämän laatua kunta-alan palkansaajien näkökulmasta vuonna 2009. Kuntien ja kuntayhtymien työolojen muutoksia kuvaava Kunta-alan työolobarometrin tiedot perustuvat työ- ja elinkeinoministeriön työolobarometrin aineistoon, joka kattaa kaikkien alojen palkansaajat. Tätä aineistoa on kasvatettu Työturvallisuuskeskuksen kuntaryhmän toimeksiannosta kunta-alalla työskentelevien osalta poimimalla heistä lisäotos. Ensimmäiset kysymykset koskivat työsuhteen pituutta ja luonnetta sekä työpaikan henkilöstöä. Esimerkiksi kysyttiin vuoden aikana tapahtuneista muutoksista henkilöstön lukumäärässä, irtisanomisista ja lomautuksista. Seuraavat kysymykset koskivat työpaikan ilmapiiriä, kuten esiintyykö työpaikalla ristiriitoja tai henkistä ja fyysistä väkivaltaa. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin työtehtävistä ja työn luonteesta sekä palkkaukseen liittyvistä asioista, kuten ylityökorvauksista, lisistä ja tulospalkkioista sekä vastaajan suhtautumisesta palkkaukseensa. Seuraavissa kysymyksissä selvitettiin työpaikan luonnetta ja ominaisuuksia sekä kysyttiin työhön liittyvistä koulutuksista. Vastaajilta myös tiedusteltiin, pitävätkö he mahdollisena, että seuraavan vuoden aikana heidät esimerkiksi lomautetaan, irtisanotaan tai siirretään toisiin tehtäviin. Lisäksi vastaajat pohtivat työllisyystilannetta sekä sitä, onko työelämä muuttumassa suuntaan tai toiseen esimerkiksi tasa-arvon, ympäristökysymysten huomioon ottamisen, esimiesten johtamistavan tai itsensä kehittämisen mahdollisuuksien suhteen. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin vielä muun muassa työkykyyn ja työterveyteen liittyviä asioita. Lisäksi kysyttiin, esiintyykö vastaajan työorganisaatiossa syrjintää tai eriarvoista kohtelua, joka perustuu esimerkiksi ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen luonteeseen tai työntekijän syntyperään. Työolobarometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2009) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala. Työolobarometrin sisällöstä pääosa on pidetty samanlaisena eri vuosina. Vuonna 2009 uudeksi teemaksi mukaan on otettu taantuman vaikutukset työpaikoilla ja tätä täydentävät tiedot yhteistoimintalain toteutumisesta työpaikoilla. Lisäksi työpaikkojen työelämän laadun ja niiden menestyksen välistä yhteyttä on tutkittu tarkemmin."
