"en": "The youth survey focused on Finnish young people's employment, education, future, social relationships, satisfaction with life, and relationship to society. First, questions related to work were presented. The respondents were asked what they considered most important as regards work and working, whether they would like to work in the public or private sector, and what they considered the greatest obstacles to employment for young people. They were also presented with attitudinal statements on unemployment and working life. Some questions pertained to education policy. Compared to the previous Finnish Youth Surveys, there were new questions covering compulsory education age and youth education. The respondents were asked to name the factors that influenced their choice of place of residence (e.g. the location of their school, proximity to nature). They also named the municipality or city in which they would like to live. Questions on society included topics such as foreigners living in Finland, basic income paid to all citizens, and one's own possibilities of influencing. There was also a new question on whether the voting age should be lowered. Some questions pertained to future. The young people were asked how important they considered achieving various things (e.g. own family and children, own house, high standard of living) by the age of 35. The respondents also estimated the development of Finnish society in the future and their current social relationships. Finally, they assessed their satisfaction with life, financial situation, and health on a scale from 4 to 10. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's age, gender, mother tongue, level of education, economic activity, and the parents' level of education.",
"fi": "Tämän Nuorisobarometrin teemoja ovat työllisyys, koulutus, tulevaisuus, sosiaaliset suhteet, tyytyväisyys elämään ja suhde yhteiskuntaan. Aluksi kartoitettiin työhön liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin esimerkiksi mikä heistä on tärkeintä työssä, mille sektorille he haluaisivat sijoittua työelämässä ja mitkä asiat he kokevat suurimmiksi esteiksi nuorten työllistymiselle. Nuorille esitettiin myös työttömyyttä ja työelämää koskevia väitteitä. Sen jälkeen tarkasteltiin koulutuspolitiikkaan liittyviä kysymyksiä. Aiempiin Nuorisobarometreihin nähden uusina asioina kysyttiin esimerkiksi oppivelvollisuusiästä ja nuorisokoulusta. Seuraavaksi vastaajat arvioivat erilaisten asioiden, kuten opiskelupaikan ja luonnonläheisyyden, vaikutusta asuinpaikkansa valintaan. Lisäksi he nimesivät kunnan/kaupungin, jossa haluaisivat asua. Sitten siirryttiin kartoittamaan yhteiskuntaan liittyviä kysymyksiä. Nuorille esitettiin väitteitä esim. Suomessa asuvista ulkomaalaisista, kaikille maksettavasta perustulosta ja omista vaikuttamismahdollisuuksistaan. Uutena kysymyksenä tarkasteltiin myös nuorten käsityksiä äänestysikärajan laskemisesta. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin lisäksi tulevaisuuteen liittyviä asioita. Nuorilta kysyttiin esimerkiksi kuinka tärkeänä he pitävät, että he ovat saavuttaneet 35-vuotiaana erilaisia asioita, kuten oma perhe ja lapsia, omistusasunto sekä korkea elintaso. Vastaajat arvioivat myös suomalaisen yhteiskunnan kehitystä tulevaisuudessa ja tämänhetkisiä sosiaalisia suhteitaan. Lopuksi he arvioivat kouluarvosana-asteikolla 4-10 esimerkiksi tyytyväisyyttä elämäänsä, taloudelliseen tilanteeseensa ja terveydentilaansa. Taustamuuttujina olivat esimerkiksi ikä, sukupuoli, äidinkieli, perhemuoto, suoritetut tutkinnot, äidin ja isän koulutustaso sekä oma pääasiallinen toiminta."

"en": "The survey charted Finnish attitudes and values. The respondents were presented with a series of attitudinal statements covering occupational life, work-life balance, social welfare, environmental issues, influencing, decision-making, political life, economy, globalisation, and political power. They were also asked how the government should prioritise different areas of its activity including employment, taxation, education, health care, environmental protection, social security, regional policy, and equality between men and women. The respondents also gave their opinions on whether different forces in society (e.g. labour movement, church, market forces, police, the media, citizens) have too much, just the right amount, or too little power. The respondents' views on taxation were charted by asking them whether taxes are generally too high in Finland, whether the security and services in Finnish society received in exchange for taxes are sufficient, whether the total tax rate should be lowered to the average level of the EU countries, whether the focus of taxation should be shifted from work to consumption, and whether the respondents experience their taxation as unjust. Opinions on the most desirable, the least desirable, and the most likely government coalition were investigated. Views were also probed on the party affiliation of the next prime minister, and on how different values should be emphasised in developing Finnish society (e.g. social and economic equality, ability to undertake bold reforms, freedom of competition and entrepreneurship, individual responsibility for one's own welfare). Opinions on women's position in the labour market were charted with the help of attitudinal statements. The respondents gave their views on whether women usually consider their decisions more carefully than men, whether female politicians are just as tough and calculating as their male co-workers, whether gender quotas should be used for instance in the management of enterprises, and whether it is wrong that women still do not always receive the same pay as men doing the same work. Finally, there were three questions on the EU membership, Euro, and EU enlargement. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, size of municipality of residence, education, and industry of employment.",

Aluksi vastaajat kertoivat mielipiteensä useista väittämistä, jotka liittyivät mm. työelämään ja työelämän tasa-arvoon, hyvinvointiin, ympäristöasioihin, yhteiskunnalliseen vaikuttamiseen, päätöksentekoon, politiikkaan, talouteen, globalisaatioon ja vallankäyttöön. Tämän jälkeen vastaajilta kysyttiin millä tavalla eri aihealueita tulisi painottaa hallituksen toiminnassa. Aihepiirejä olivat mm. työllisyys, verotus, koulutus, terveydenhuolto, ympäristönsuojelu, sosiaaliturva, aluepolitiikka ja tasa-arvo. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, onko eri yhteiskunnallisilla vaikuttajilla (kuten ammattiyhdistysliikkeellä, kirkolla, markkinavoimilla, poliisilla, medialla ja kansalaisilla) liian paljon, sopivasti vai liian vähän valtaa. Seuraavien kysymysten aihepiiri oli verotus. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin mielipidettä mm. siitä, onko verotus Suomessa kaiken kaikkiaan liian ankaraa, ovatko suomalaisen yhteiskunnan turvallisuus ja palvelut hyvä vastine veroille, pitäisikö Suomen kokonaisverotus alentaa EU-maiden keskimääräiselle tasolle, pitäisikö verotuksen painopistettä siirtää työn verottamisesta kuluttamisen verottamiseen ja kokevatko vastaajat oman verotuksensa epäoikeudenmukaiseksi. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin vastaajien mielipidettä toivottavimmasta, ei-toivottavimmasta ja todennäköisimmästä hallituspohjasta. Heiltä kysyttiin myös, mitä puoluetta tulevan hallituksen pääministerin tulisi edustaa. Lisäksi haluttiin tietää, miten erilaisten arvojen tulisi painottua suomalaisen yhteiskunnan kehittämisessä. Arvioitavia periaatteita ja arvoja olivat mm. sosiaalinen ja taloudellinen tasa-arvo, valmius rohkeisiin uudistuksiin, kilpailun ja yrittämisen vapaus sekä yksilön vastuu omasta hyvinvoinnista. Mielipiteitä naisten asemasta työelämässä kartoitettiin usealla väittämällä. Vastaajat kertoivat mielipiteensä mm. siitä, tekevätkö naiset yleensä paremmin harkittuja päätöksiä kuin miehet, ovatko naispoliitikot aivan yhtä kovaluonteisia ja laskelmoivia kuin miestoverinsa, mitä mieltä vastaajat ovat kiintiöistä esimerkiksi yritysten hallinnossa ja onko väärin, ettei nainen vieläkään aina saa samasta työstä samaa palkkaa kuin mies. Lopuksi esitettiin kolme kysymystä liittyen EU-jäsenyyteen, euroon ja EU:n laajentumiseen. Taustakysymyksiä olivat mm. sukupuoli, ikäryhmä, asuinkunnan koko, koulutus ja toimiala."

The data were collected between 1994 and 1998, and the full data contain 26 interviews, conducted mainly in Tampere. The total length of the dataset is 660 pages. Some of the respondents had been in a same-sex relationship, while some were outside observers. The respondents were born in the 1910-1950s. The interviews explore the status and living conditions of sexual minorities in Finland in the 1940-1960s. The questions charted topics such as meeting places of gays and lesbians, general attitudes towards sexuality, attitudes towards famous gays and lesbians, and whether there were any chances for members of sexual minorities to build a relationship. Further questions probed the respondents' views on living in Tampere, homosexuality in the media, and criminalised homosexuality. The data are also available for teaching purposes (FSD2308). The dataset is only available in Finnish.",

Vuosina 1994-1998 kerätystä aineistosta on luovutettu 26 haastattelua, jotka on tehty pääosin Tampereella. Koko luovutettu aineisto on yhteensä noin 660 sivua pitkä. Haastateltavat ovat homoseksuaalisia suhteita kokeneita tai eläneitä sekä heidän ystäviään ja sukulaisiaan. Lisäksi aineisto sisältää poliisin ja muiden ulkopuolisten havainnoijien haastatteluja. Haastateltavat ovat syntyneet 1910-1950 -luvuilla ja he kertovat laajasti suhtautumisesta seksuaalivähemmistöihin sotienjälkeisessä Suomessa, etenkin Tampereella. Haastatteluissa käsitellään laajasti seksuaalivähemmistöjen asemaa ja elinoloja 1940-1960 -luvuilla. Kysymykset käsittelevät mm. homojen ja lesbojen tapaamispaikkoja, yleistä suhtautumista seksuaalisuuteen, homoseksuaalien mahdollisuutta parisuhteeseen ja ihmisten suhtautumista tunnettuihin homoseksuaaleihin. Lisäksi käsitellään esimerkiksi elämää Tampereella, homoseksuaalisuuden esiintymistä medioissa ja kriminalisoitua homoseksuaalisuutta. Aineistosta on saatavilla myös opetusaineisto FSD2308."

In addition, the impact of different learning styles, various degrees of self-confidence, and motivation was studied. The survey data aimed at students were collected by using a web questionnaire. The respondents were asked whether they had experienced web-based learning as sensible, demanding and varied. They were also asked whether they had been sufficiently in contact with other students, teachers and tutors, whether they had received enough peer support, whether the pace of the course had been suitable, and whether the course had been graded successfully. Some questions charted the usability, versatility and extent of the teaching materials and instruments. The respondents' attitudes towards studying were examined by asking questions about their study success, desire to receive good grades, interest in the studied topics, and trust in their own learning abilities. Finally, different learning styles were investigated. The study is a comparative survey which aims at producing new information on web-based learning and different learners. Altogether 182 students who participated in the online courses of the University Network for Communication Sciences in 2002-2003 responded to the survey. 103 students of education were used as a control group for the study. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender and place of study.",

Samalla tutkitaan myös sitä, miten oppimistyyliltään, opiskelumotivaatioltaan ja itseluottamukseltaan erilaiset oppijat kokevat verkko-opiskelun ja verkkokursseilla käytettyjen oppimateriaalien ominaisuudet. Verkko-opiskelijoille suunnattu kysely toteutettiin sähköisellä html-kielisellä WWW-lomakkeella. Kokemuksia verkko-opiskelusta selvitettiin tiedustelemalla opiskelun mielekkyyttä, vaativuutta ja monipuolisuutta. Samoin tiedusteltiin oliko opiskelijalla mielestään riittävästi kontakteja muiden opiskelijoiden, opettajien ja tutorien kanssa, saiko hän riittävästi vertaistukea, oliko etenemistahti sopiva ja toteutuiko oppimisen arviointi onnistuneesti. Lomakkeella kartoitettiin oppimateriaalien ja välineiden käytettävyyttä, monipuolisuutta ja laajuutta. Suhtautumista opiskeluun yleensä selvitettiin kyselemällä opiskelijan menestymistä opinnoissa, halua saada hyviä arvosanoja, kiinnostuneisuutta opiskeltuihin aihepiireihin ja luottamusta omiin oppimismahdollisuuksiin. Lopuksi selvitettiin vastaajan oppimistyyliä erilaisin kysymyksin. Tutkimus on tyypiltään kuvaileva ja vertaileva survey-kartoitus, jonka tarkoituksena oli tuottaa uutta arvioivaa tietoa verkko-opiskelusta ja siihen liittyvistä rakenteista sekä erilaisista oppijoista. Tutkimukseen vastasi 182 vuonna 2002-2003 Viestintätieteiden yliopistoverkoston verkkokursseille osallistunutta opiskelijaa, joiden vastauksia verrattiin 103:n lähiopetusta käyttäneen luokanopettajaopiskelijan vastauksiin. The survey studied depression in Finland and invited those readers of NYT who suffer from depression to participate. The number of respondents was 1019 and 73% were female. Most respondents were young people. Questions covered the physical symptoms of depression and what respondents had felt when they first realized they suffered from depression. Visits to doctors, treatment received and sick leaves were charted. The survey also asked which things respondents were able to enjoy when depressed and what could have helped ease their depression (with respondents choosing their answers from a list). Background variables included respondents' age, sex, occupation, type of employment contract, marital status and whether respondents had any children.",

"en": "The survey of alcohol use was conducted by the weekly supplement NYT of the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in 2002. It was directed to all readers of the newspaper aged 18 or over. The data contain the structured parts of the survey. The number of respondents was 4542. The respondents were asked at what age they had been drunk for the first time and what had happened on that occasion. Questions also covered the respondents' drinking habits, how often they were drunk, where and with whom. Favourite drink (beer, wine, cider, liquor, punch etc) and drug use were studied. Finally, the respondents were asked what the most pleasant and unpleasant thing in being intoxicated was. Background variables included the respondent's age, sex, occupation and the drinking habits of parents.",

Vastaajia on yhteensä 4542. Vastaajilta on kysytty, minkä ikäisenä he ovat olleet ensimmäisen kerran humalassa ja mitä silloin on tapahtunut. Lisäksi heille on esitetty kysymyksiä nykyisestä alkoholinkäytöstä, mm. juomisen määrästä ja siitä, missä seurassa ja tilanteissa vastaajat juovat alkoholia. Lisäksi vastaajilta on kysytty muiden päihteiden käytöstä ja siitä, mikä on hauskinta ja ikävintä humalassa. Taustamuuttujina ovat olleet ikä, ammatti ja sukupuoli. Kyselyssä on ollut useita avokysymyksiä, joiden vastaukset ovat aineistoissa FSD1280 Humalakokemukset 2002, FSD1281 Alkoholinkäyttö ja vanhemmuus 2002, FSD1282 Alkoholinkäytön syyt ja selitykset 2002 ja FSD1297 Mielipiteitä alkoholista 2002 Aineistot FSD1257 Alkoholikysely 2002, FSD1280 Humalakokemukset 2002, FSD1281 Alkoholinkäyttö ja vanhemmuus 2002, FSD1282 Alkoholinkäytön syyt ja selitykset 2002 ja FSD1297 Mielipiteitä alkoholista 2002 on tuotettu samasta kyselystä. The survey was directed to mothers of grown-up children. Respondents were asked whether they had brought up their children alone or with the father/stepfather and whether they embrace their children when meeting them (physical contact). Opinions on whether they see their children often enough were probed. Questions covered whether children ask for money from their mothers, do mothers have a key to their children's home and vice versa. Respondents were presented with a number of adjectives/statements and asked which ones could be used to describe their children. Mothers also evaluated how well they know their children. Parental behaviour and disciplinary tactics used by the respondents were charted. Respondents were asked what they had taught their children and what kind of activities had they shared with them. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's age, marital status, the number of children, their age and sex. The number of respondents was 189. Most respondents were married. Respondents represented a variety of occupations and all socioeconomic groups. The sample is not statistically representative of mothers of grown-up children living in Finland.",

Yli puolet vastaajista on pääkaupunkiseudulta ja loput vastauksista ovat tulleet ympäri Suomea, muutama ulkomailta. Aineisto ei ole tilastollisesti Suomessa asuvia aikuisten lasten äitejä edustava. Kysely sisälsi lukuisia avokysymyksiä, joita ei ole mukana tässä aineistossa. Sturkturoiduissa kysymyksissä tiedusteltiin, onko äiti kasvattanut lapsensa yksin vai lasten isän tai isäpuolen kanssa. Vastaajilta kysyttiin myös halaavatko he lasta hänet nähdessään ja tapaavatko he mielestään lastaan riittävästi. Lisäksi esitettiin kysymyksiä lasten avustamisesta, siitä pyytävätkö lapset äideltään rahaa ja onko äideillä lastensa kotiavain ja/tai päinvastoin. Vastaajat saivat myös valita valmiista vaihtoehdoista, mitkä adjektiivit kuvaavat heidän lastaan, mitä keinoja he ovat käyttäneet lastensa kasvatuksessa, mitä opettaneet heille ja mitä tehneet heidän kanssaan. Aineiston keräämisessä käytettyä alkuperäistäkyselylomaketta ei ole ollut saatavilla. Datamatriisi on muodostettu Helsingin Sanomien Nyt-liitteen tietoarkistolle luovuttamasta pst-tiedostosta, joka koostuu kaikista internetin kautta saaduista vastauksista."

The survey studied violence in Finland and invited the participation of those readers of the NYT supplement who had sometimes behaved aggressively or violently or had been victims of such behaviour. The number of respondents was 556. The questionnaire contained questions about what kind of violent behaviour respondents themselves had engaged in and what kind of violent behaviour they had been subjected to. Respondents were asked whether they had physically punished their children or been themselves punished as children. Violence against or by partners was surveyed. Questions also covered violent behaviour between friends, stranger violence, sexual violence and whether drugs or alcohol had contributed. Respondents were asked to choose from a list of actions which ones that they regarded as violent and which one they considered justified in certain situations. Revenge as well as regret and other possible mental consequences of violence were also charted. Background variables included age group, sex, education/occupation and marital status.",

Lomakkeessa on esitetty kysymyksiä siitä, millaista väkivaltaa vastaajat itse ovat harjoittaneet ja millaisen väkivallan kohteeksi joutuneet. Vastaajilta on kysytty myös sitä, ovatko he kurittaneet omia lapsiansa ja ovatko he itse joutuneet lapsena kuritetuksi. Samaten on esitetty kysymykset kumppania kohtaan harjoitetusta väkivallasta. Väkivallan esiintymistä on kartoitettu myös esittämällä kysymykset siitä, ovatko vastaajat joko harjoittaneet väkivaltaa tai joutuneet itse väkivallan kohteeksi tuttavaporukassa. Lisäksi vastaajat ovat saaneet valita valmiista vaihtoehdoista teot, joita he pitävät väkivaltana ja tilanteet, joissa pitävät väkivaltaa oikeutettuna. Lopussa on esitetty muutama kysymys kostosta, katumisesta ja muista väkivallan mahdollisista henkisistä seurauksista. Taustamuuttujina ovat ikä, sukupuoli, koulutus/ammatti ja siviilisääty."

The survey studied Finnish homosexual behaviour and attitudes towards homosexuality. Respondents' sexual behaviour and experiences were investigated with several close-ended questions: the extent of homosexual attraction or experience, main reasons for contacting persons of the same sex, age when started sex life, how often has sex and how often would like to have sex. The development of respondents' sexual identity was charted. Respondents were also asked what they enjoyed most in sexual activities, how they would define homosexuality and whether their friends, relatives, fellow workers, neighbours etc. were aware of their sexuality. They were asked whether they had experienced pressure from their environment because of their sexual identity (e.g. subjected to jokes, discrimination in the workplace). There were 1885 respondents. One third of the respondents were young people aged 20-30. One third were students and the rest represented a wide variety of occupations and employment sectors. Half of the respondents lived in the metropolitan area; the majority of other respondents also lived in cities. Background variables included sex, age, occupation, marital status and sexual orientation (bisexual, heterosexual, homosexual, lesbian).",

Kyselyllä on selvitetty ihmisten käsityksiä ja kokemuksia homoseksuaalisuudesta. Vastaajia on yhteensä 1885 ja heistä nuoria (20-30 v.) on kolmannes. Vastaajista kolmannes on opiskelijoita ja loput edustavat hyvin laajasti eri aloja ja ammattiryhmiä. Koska kysely on suunnattu Nyt-liitteen lukijoille, vastaajista puolet on pääkaupunkiseudulta. Valtaosa lopuistakin vastaajista on suurista kaupungeista. Kyselyssä oli valittavana valmiita vastausvaihtoehtoja mm. seuraaviin kysymyksiin: Kuinka pitkälle olet mennyt samaa sukupuolta olevan henkilön kanssa?, Miksi otit seksuaalista kontaktia samaan sukupuoleen ensimmäisen kerran?, Minkä ikäisenä harrastit ensimmäisen kerran seksiä? ja Kuinka usein haluaisit harrastaa seksiä?. Lisäksi kyselyssä on kartoitettu seksuaalisen suuntauksen kehitystä, sitä mikä seksissä on hauskinta ja homoseksuaalisuuden piirteitä. Vastaajilta on myös kysytty, ketkä tietävät vastaajan seksuaalisesta suuntautumisesta. "en": "The survey, conducted by the weekly supplement NYT of the daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in the spring 2001, studied moral behaviour in Finland and citizens' attitudes to right and wrong in different everyday situations. The survey carried a set of attitudinal statements pertaining to lying, stealing from home, from work or elsewhere, shoplifting, infidelity, fishing without paying the fishing licence, traffic behaviour etc. The morality of the respondents was also charted by asking about tax evasion and insurance fraud. Background variables included respondents' age, sex, occupation, annual gross income and which party the respondent had voted for in the previous parliamentary elections. The data are not representative of Finland's population. The subject matter of the survey interested women in particular, since more than three out of four respondents were women. In addition, most respondents were young people, the majority under 30 years of age.",

Aineisto ei muodosta edustavaa otosta suomalaisista. Moraali aiheena on kiinnostanut ensisijaisesti naisia, sillä kolme neljästä vastaajasta on naisia. "en": "The survey charted the knowledge and attitudes of eighth and ninth graders in the field of history and civics, and it was conducted as part of the IEA's (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement) international Civic Education Study. The study was conducted in altogether 28 countries. The respondents' conceptions on democracy and political system were charted. Trust in various social institutions was explored, as well as opinions on various issues (e.g. Finland, immigrants, political system, school, curriculum, characteristics of a good citizen). Participation in school life was also canvassed. Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth, household size, and parents' education. In addition, the respondents were asked whether they were newspaper subscribers, how many books they had at their home, whether they had participated in the activities of various organisations, how often they met their friends, and how much time they allocated to watching television or videos on an average school day. Additional background information was obtained from the data files on schools and teachers.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kahdeksannen ja yhdeksännen luokan oppilaiden tietoja, käsityksiä ja asenteita historian ja yhteiskuntaopin alueella. Tutkimus toteutettiin osana kansainvälisen koulutustutkimusjärjestön IEA:n Civic Education Study -tutkimusta, johon osallistui 28 maata. Aluksi kartoitettiin oppilaiden tietämystä demokratiasta ja poliittisesta järjestelmästä. Kysymykset koskivat muun muassa demokraattisia instituutioita, kansalaisten oikeuksia ja velvollisuuksia, kansalais- ja ammattijärjestöjä, YK:ta ja perustuslain sisältöä. Lisäksi kartoitettiin oppilaiden luottamusta yhteiskunnan instituutioihin ja mielipiteitä Suomesta, poliittisesta järjestelmästä, koulusta, opetussuunnitelmasta ja opetuksesta. Sosiaalista yhteenkuuluvuutta tutkittiin kysymällä muun muassa kouluelämään osallistumisesta. Lisäksi kysyttiin mielipidettä siitä, mikä on hyväksi/pahaksi demokratialle, millainen on kunnon kansalainen, mitkä ovat valtiovallan tehtävät ja mitä mahdollisuuksia eri kansan- ja ihmisryhmillä Suomessa todella on. Taustatietoina kysyttiin muun muassa sukupuoli, syntymäaika, väestöryhmä, kotona asuvien henkilöiden lukumäärä ja vanhempien koulutus. Lisäksi kysyttiin, tuleeko kotiin sanomalehti, paljonko kotona on kirjoja, onko oppilas osallistunut erilaisten järjestöjen toimintaan, kuinka usein hän viettää aikaansa kavereiden kanssa ja kuinka paljon käyttää aikaa television tai videoiden katselemiseen koulupäivinä. Taustatietoina käytettävät koulujen ja opettajien datat sisältävät tietoja muun muassa koulusta yleensä, paikkakunnalla toimivista järjestöistä, vanhempien kiinnostuneisuudesta koulusta, oppilaiden sosioekonomisesta taustasta, koulun oppilasmäärästä, koulussa ilmenneistä ongelmista, viikkotuntien määrästä ja oppimistavoitteista sekä historian ja yhteiskuntaopin opettajan sukupuolesta, iästä, koulutuksesta ja näkemyksistä."

"en": "The survey studied the concepts of religion, morals, and values in Russia in the middle of the 1990s. The respondents were asked how important in life they consider work, family, friends or acquaintances, leisure, politics, and religion. They were also asked what kind of people they would not have as their neighbours. Furthermore, they were asked to estimate whether people helped each other more or less than they did 10 years ago, whether they were happy with their lives at the moment, 5 years ago and 5 years from now, why there were poor people in the country, and what was the reason for that. The respondents were asked what economical and social factors were the most important to them at work. They were also asked what role should owners, the state, and employees have in the ownership of an enterprise and in choosing management. Several questions dealt with morals and the meaning of life, the respondents' religiosity, attendance of church services, and their attitude towards the church. In addition, the respondents were asked about their family relations, the meaning of family in their lives, and whether the respondents had the same attitude towards religion, morals, politics, and sexuality as their spouse and parents. Furthermore, the respondents were asked in view of a good marriage, how important they felt faithfulness, material goods, belonging to the same social stratum, mutual respect, same political views, sexual satisfaction, children, and sharing the chores at home. Relating to children, the respondents were asked the actual and desired number of children in the family, the attitude towards child-rearing, conceptions of the relationship between parents and children, and what kind of values should parents instill in their children. Furthermore, the respondents were asked about their attitudes towards working mothers and the roles of spouses in marriage. There were several questions about attitudes towards politics and political participation. Moreover, the respondents were asked about their conceptions of the country's future and social development. On the other hand, the respondents were asked how they support various social movements, like environmental movement, movement against nuclear energy, and women's movement. In relation to their moral conceptions, the respondents were asked about several things, for instance, using public transport without a ticket, using drugs, prostitution, suicide, and euthanasia. The respondents were also asked whether they identified themselves as dwellers of their own community, a larger area, members of a nationality, Russia, Europe or the whole world, and how proud they were over being citizens of Russia. A host of questions dealt with economical and political life in Russia, the conceptions of the former Soviet Union, and the future of Russia. Background variables were included the respondent's sex, age, education, profession, place of residence in childhood, size of family, income, nationality of the respondent and other family members, membership in a political party, and R's political views.",

Lisäksi kysyttiin, miten tärkeinä vastaajat pitävät hyvän avioliiton kannalta mm. uskollisuutta, aineellista hyvää, samaan sosiaalisen kerrostumaan kuulumista, keskinäistä kunnioitusta, samaa poliittista katsomusta, seksuaalista tyytyväisyyttä, lapsia ja kotitöiden jakamista. Lapsiin liittyen kysyttiin lasten todellista ja toivottua lukumäärää perheessä, suhtautumista lastenkasvatukseen, käsityksiä lasten ja vanhempien suhteesta sekä sitä, millaisia arvoja vanhempien tulisi siirtää lapsiinsa. Lisäksi kysyttiin vastaajien asenteita äitien työssäkäyntiin sekä puolisoiden rooleihin perheessä. Suhtautumisesta politiikkaan ja poliittisesta osallistumisesta oli useita kysymyksiä. Lisäksi kysyttiin käsityksiä maan tulevaisuudesta ja yhteiskunnallisesta kehityksestä. Ihmisten moraalikäsityksiin liittyen kysyttiin useista asioista, mm. matkustamisesta julkisella kulkuneuvolla ilman lippua, huumeiden käytöstä, valehtelusta, prostituutiosta, itsemurhasta ja eutanasiasta. "en": "The survey studied the concepts of religion, morals and values in Russia in the end of the 1990s. The respondents were asked how important in life they consider work, family, friends or acquaintances, leisure, politics and religion. They were also asked what kind of people they would not have as their neighbours. Furthermore, they were asked to estimate whether people helped each other more than they did 10 years ago or less. They were also asked whether they were happy with their lives at the moment, 5 years ago, and 5 years from now, why there were poor people in the country, and what was the reason for that. The respondents were asked what economical and social factors were the most important to them at work. They were also asked what role should owners, the state and employees have in the ownership of an enterprise and in choosing management. Several questions dealt with morals and the meaning of life, the respondents' religiosity, attendance of church services, and their attitude towards the church. Part of the questions were addressed to Muslims only. In addition, the respondents were asked about their family relations, the meaning of family in their lives, and whether the respondents had the same attitude towards religion, morals, politics, and sexuality as their spouse and parents. Furthermore, the respondents were asked in view of a good marriage, how important they felt faithfulness, material goods, belonging to the same social stratum, mutual respect, same political views, sexual satisfaction, children, and sharing the chores at home. Relating to children, the respondents were asked the actual and desired number of children in the family, the attitude towards child-rearing, conceptions of the relationship between parents and children, and what kind of values should parents instill in their children. Furthermore, the respondents were asked about their attitudes towards working mothers, and the roles of spouses in marriage. There were several questions about attitudes towards politics and political participation. Moreover, the respondents were asked about their conceptions of the country's future and social development. On the other hand, the respondents were asked how they supported various social movements, like environmental movement, movement against nuclear energy, and women's movement. In relation to their moral conceptions, the respondents were asked about several things, for instance, using public transport without a ticket, using drugs, prostitution, suicide, and euthanasia. The respondents were also asked whether they felt themselves dwellers of their own community, a larger area, members of a nationality, Russia, Europe, or the whole world, and how proud they were over being citizens of Russia. A host of questions dealt with economical and political life in Russia, the conceptions of the former Soviet Union, and the future of Russia. Background variables included the respondent's sex, age, education, profession, place of residence in childhood, size of family, income, nationality of the respondent and other family members, membership in a political party, and R's political views",

Lisäksi kysyttiin, miten tärkeinä vastaajat pitävät hyvän avioliiton kannalta mm. uskollisuutta, aineellista hyvää, samaan sosiaalisen kerrostumaan kuulumista, keskinäistä kunnioitusta, samaa poliittista katsomusta, seksuaalista tyytyväisyyttä, lapsia ja kotitöiden jakamista. Lapsiin liittyen kysyttiin lasten todellista ja toivottua lukumäärää perheessä, suhtautumista lastenkasvatukseen, käsityksiä lasten ja vanhempien suhteesta sekä sitä, millaisia arvoja vanhempien tulisi siirtää lapsiinsa. Lisäksi kysyttiin vastaajien asenteita äitien työssäkäyntiin sekä puolisoiden rooleihin perheessä. Suhtautumisesta politiikkaan ja poliittisesta osallistumisesta oli useita kysymyksiä. Lisäksi kysyttiin käsityksiä maan tulevaisuudesta ja yhteiskunnallisesta kehityksestä. "en": "In the survey, Finnish voting behaviour in the 1996 municipal and European Parliament elections was studied. The survey was conducted as part of the \"Changes in Finnish TV Election Campaigns\" project. The respondents were first asked whether they voted in both elections. Those who had voted were asked whether they had voted in advance or on the actual election day, for whom did they vote in the European Parliament elections, how much did certain factors affect their choice of party, at what stage they had made their final decision for what party's candidate to vote, and from what information sources they received information to support their voting decision. Non-voters were asked the reason for their abstention. Election advertising was studied by asking all respondents whether they had seen advertisements of the parties or the candidates before the elections, and how would they assess election advertisements of various parties. All respondents were asked whether they had participated in any of the election campaign events of the candidates or parties/political groups, and if they were forced to vote, which party would be the least unpleasant alternative for them. Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth, marital status, basic and vocational education, type of municipality of residence, province of residence, economic activity, working hours, industry of employment, employer type, trade union membership, number of household members, age of the children, household ownership of certain domestic appliances, household annual gross income, and which party R would vote for if the municipal elections were held at that time.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin vastaajien äänestyskäyttäytymistä juuri ennen tutkimuksen suorittamista käydyissä vuoden 1996 kunnallis- ja eurokansanedustajavaaleissa. Tutkimusta tehtiin Changes in Finnish TV Election Campaigns -projektissa. Vastaajalta kysyttiin ensin, äänestikö hän molemmissa vaaleissa tai vain toisessa näistä vaaleista. Äänestäneiltä tiedusteltiin äänestivätkö he ennakkoon vai varsinaisena vaalipäivänä, ketä he äänestivät eurovaaleissa, miten paljon erilaiset syyt vaikuttivat heidän puoluevalintaansa ja äänestyspäätökseensä, missä vaiheessa he lopullisesti päättivät minkä puolueen ehdokkaalle äänensä antavat ja mistä lähteistä he saivat tietoa äänestyspäätöksensä tueksi. "en": "The purpose of the survey was to chart the employment situation of people who had graduated from the University of Tampere in 1998. There were questions about the respondents' current employment, months of working in general, months of working in jobs corresponding to their degree, and number of months the respondents had been unemployed before their first job after graduation. The respondents were also asked whether they had worked under the course of their studies in an area related with their field of studies. Those currently working were asked about the field of activities of the current employer, and whether the demands of the present job were commensurate with the university degree. Moreover, the respondents were asked about the most important job seeking channels, factors which affected getting a job, and what kinds of properties are valued by employers. The respondents who had sought jobs after graduation were asked what job seeking methods they had used, and what factors had impeded or rendered finding a job difficult in their minds. Background variables included the respondent's gender, region, and field of study.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Tampereen yliopistossa vuonna 1998 ylemmän korkeakoulututkinnon suorittaneiden työllisyystilannetta vuoden kuluttua valmistumisesta. Tampereen yliopiston rekrytointipalvelut, suunnitteluyksikkö ja opintotoimisto ovat seuranneet vastavalmistuneiden työllistymistä säännöllisesti vuodesta 1994 alkaen nk. sijoittumisseurantatutkimuksilla. Aineistossa on useita nykyiseen työtilanteeseen, työnantajaan ja työnhakuun liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajalta kysyttiin, onko hän tällä töissä, montako kuukautta hän on ollut töissä valmistumisensa jälkeen, onko hän ollut työttömänä valmistumisensa jälkeen ja onko hän opiskeluaikanaan ollut opiskelualaan liittyvässä työssä. Työssäolevilta kysyttiin lisäksi nykyisen työnantajan toimialaa ja työtehtävän vaatimustason ja koulutuksen vastaavuutta. Lisäksi kysyttiin tärkeintä työnhakukanavaa, työpaikan saamiseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä ja minkälaisia työelämävalmiuksia työnantajat arvostavat. Taustamuuttujina ovat koulutusala, tutkinto, tiedekunta, tutkinnon aloitusvuosi luokiteltuna, sukupuoli ja lääni."

"en": "In this power structure survey, the Finnish power elite is under observation. The respondents were from the following sectors of the society: politics, administration, business life, organisations, mass media, science, and culture. The study focuses on institutional positions of leadership, roles in various sectors, and not on the persons in these positions as such. The study comprises 1,115 positions with 997 persons. The themes of the survey included, among others, career, internationalisation, interaction, power, family and leisure, childhood home, and the position of the sexes in Finland. In view of the respondents' career, they were asked their main job and eventual other jobs, their elected offices, membership in different organisations and unofficial groups, and factors affecting career development. In addition, the respondents were asked about their eventual absences from work life, and reasons for these absences. Internationalisation was studied by asking whether the respondents had studied or worked abroad and if they had personal contacts with citizens of other countries. Interaction was measured by presenting the respondents with a list of possible contact partners and asking them about the frequency and nature of the contact. The listed contact partners included the president, political party organisations, ministries, municipality, army, church, the media, voluntary organisations, institutes of higher learning, and enterprises. In addition, the respondents were asked how often they appear in the mass media, to what extent they keep in touch with their acquaintances from school and younger years, and what forms of contact the respondents find most important in view of their own organisation. In relation to power, the respondents were asked to assess the influence of various bodies (the Parliament, representatives of cultural life, the press, and labour market organisations), and the intensity of antagonism between various groups in Finland. The respondents were presented with a number of statements relating to power and decision-making in society and asked whether they agreed with them. They were also asked to name the biggest social problems in Finland at the time of the survey. Family and leisure-related questions pertained to work-life balance, who is responsible for household duties, and who takes care of the children. The respondents were asked whether their gender had affected their career and whether they had in their own position tried to promote the equality between men and women, and if they had, in what way. Furthermore, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to the position of women in Finland. Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth (categorised), number of children (categorised), province of residence, own and spouse's basic and vocational education, which political party R would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held at that time, self-reported social class, annual gross income.",

Tutkimus kohdistuu sektoreiden johtaviin institutionaalisiin asemiin, rooleihin, eikä niissä toimiviin henkilöihin sinänsä. Tutkimus käsittää yhteensä 1115 asemaa, joissa on 997 henkilöä. Tutkimuksen teemoja olivat: ura, kansainvälistyminen, vuorovaikutus, valta, perhe ja vapaa-aika, lapsuuden ja nuoruuden koti sekä eri sukupuolten asema Suomessa. Uraan liittyen vastaajilta kysyttiin päätointa ja mahdollisia muita toimia, luottamustehtäviä, jäsenyyttä eri järjestöissä ja epävirallisissa ryhmissä sekä urakehitykseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Lisäksi kysyttiin mahdollisia poissaoloja työelämästä ja syitä niihin. Kansainvälistymistä kartoitettiin kysymällä oliko vastaaja opiskellut tai työskennellyt ulkomailla ja oliko hänellä henkilökohtaisia kohtakteja muiden maiden kansalaisiin. Vuorovaikutusta mitattiin esittämällä haastatelluille lista yhteydenpitotahoista ja pyytämällä haastateltuja arvioimaan yhteydenpidon tiheys ja kertomaan yhteydenpidon luonne. Yhteydenpitotahoja olivat mm. tasavallan presidentti, puolue, ministeriöt, kunta, puolustusvoimat, kirkko, eri järjestöt, korkeakoulut ja yritykset. Lisäksi pyydettiin kertomaan, miten usein vastaaja esiintyy eri joukkotiedotusvälineissä, missä määrin työnsä vuoksi on yhteydessä nuoruusvuosien tuttuihin ja mitä yhteydenpidon muotoja hän pitää tärkeimpinä oman organisaationsa kannalta. Valtaan liittyen vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan eri tahojen (eduskunta, kulttuurielämän edustajat, lehdistö, palkansaajajärjestöt yms.) vaikutusvaltaa ja eri ryhmien välisten vastakohtaisuuksien voimakkuuksia Suomessa. Vastaajille esitettiin joukko yhteiskuntaan liittyviä väittämiä, joihin heidän pyydettiin ottamaan kantaa. Heitä pyydettiin myös nimeämään haastatteluhetken suurimmat yhteiskunnalliset ongelmat. Perheeseen ja vapaa-aikaan liittyviä aiheita tutkimuksessa olivat työelämän ja perhe-elämän vaatimusten mahdollinen ristiriita, kotityöt, lastenhoito ja harrastukset. Vastaajilta kysyttiin onko heidän sukupuolensa vaikuttanut heidän uraansa sekä ovatko he omassa asemassaan pyrkineet edistämään sukupuolten välistä tasa-arvoa ja jos ovat, miten. Lisäksi heille esitettiin kymmenen naisten asemaan Suomessa liittyvää väittämää ja pyydettiin ottamaan niihin kantaa. Taustatietoja olivat mm. sukupuoli, syntymävuosi luokiteltuna, asuinlääni, oma ja puolison koulutus, puoluekannatus, sijoittuminen yhteiskuntaluokkiin ja tulot."

"en": "In the survey, attitudes and values of Finnish corporate executives were studied. First, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements. The statements were partly similar to those in the EVA survey on Finnish values and attitudes (FSD1085). Themes in the survey were internationalisation and the solutions by which Finland links itself to the international community, keys to Finland's success in the newly opened competition, the functioning of the Finnish model of market economy, the purpose and values of enterprises, the pressure of change in work life and the labour market, main themes of social discussion (functioning of politics, environmental questions, economic growth), and differences of opinion between corporate executives and the population on various topics. The survey contained three parts: In the first one, there were 51 questions in the form of propositions. In the second part, there were four sets of questions, and the third part contained background information on the respondents and their companies. Background information included the respondent's sex, age, position in company, education, location of the enterprise/an independent production or service unit, it's main field of activity, turnover, number of personnel, share of export of the turnover, a characterisation of the enterprise's/unit's general success during the last two years, an estimate of the enterprise's/unit's development, and prospects for the next two years.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa kartoitettiin suomalaisten yritysjohtajien asenteita ja arvoja vuonna 1997. Vastaajilta kysyttiin erilaisten väittämien perusteella heidän suhtautumistaan osittain samoihin asioihin kuin EVAn kansalaisten mielipiteitä kartoittavassa tutkimuksessa (FSD1085). Tutkimuksen aihepiireinä olivat kansainvälistyminen ja ne ratkaisut, joilla Suomi kytkeytyy kansainväliseen yhteisöön, Suomen menestyksen avaimet avautuneessa kilpailussa, markkinatalouden suomalaisen mallin toimivuus, yritysten tarkoitus ja arvot, työelämän ja työmarkkinoiden muutospaineet, yhteiskuntakeskustelun keskeiset teemat (politiikan toimivuus, ympäristökysymykset, taloudellinen kasvu) sekä yritysjohtajien ja koko väestön näkemyserot eri aihepiireistä. Kysely sisälsi kolme osaa. Ensimmäisessä on 51 väittämämuotoista kysymystä. Toisessa osassa on neljä kohdennettua kysymyssarjaa ja kolmannessa osassa on vastaajan henkilöä ja yritystä koskevat taustatiedot. Taustamuuttujina olivat vastaajan sukupuoli, ikä, toimiasema, koulutusala, yrityksen/itsenäisen tuotanto- tai palveluyksikön sijaintilääni, päätoimiala, liikevaihto, henkilöstömäärä, viennin osuus liikevaihdosta sekä luonnehdinta yrityksen/yksikön yleisestä menestymisestä kahden viime vuoden aikana ja arvio yrityksen/yksikön kehitys- ja suhdannenäkymistä kahden seuraavan vuoden aikana."
