"en": "The survey conducted by the Union of Church Professionals (AKI) and focused on member views on union activities, church administration, ethical issues and working conditions. AKI members work as clergy or church musicians in Finland, and the union consists of the Union of Finnish Clergy and the Finnish Association of Church Organists. The respondents were asked how well acquainted they were with AKI, where they had learned about the union, and what their image of the Finnish Association of Church Organists or the Union of Finnish Clergy was. Satisfaction with the union and preferred goals for union activities were also surveyed. Views on church administration were charted with a number of statements relating to, for instance, parish mergers, new pay model, career advancement and church organisation. Other questions covered gender equality in the working place, whether men or women were more suited to be clergymen or church musicians, attitudes towards the ordination of women, and cooperation with female ministers. Questions on ethical issues explored opinions on infertility treatment, church blessing on same-sex couples (registered partnerships of same-sex couples), and whether clergy, church musicians or youth, office or maintenance workers of the church could live together with a same-sex partner or otherwise be openly homosexual. Other themes pertained to work orientation, motivation and working conditions. The respondents were asked to rate the importance of a number of activities conducted by parishes. The activities mentioned included, for instance, helping people, reading and teaching the Bible, worship services, missionary work, promoting the rights of minorities, promoting justice and equality. They were also asked what work meant to them (way of earning a living, a source of satisfaction, vocation etc). Satisfaction with the job and pay were charted as well as what kind of spiritual support they wanted from the church. Other questions focused on additional jobs, hours of work for certain tasks, days off, amount of work, autonomy at work, work-life balance, stress and exhaustion symptoms, personal faith, praying and Bible reading. Background variables included the respondent's year of birth (categorised), gender, marital status, year of ordination (categorised) or year of graduating as church musician (categorised), job title and status, main duties, number of years working for the parish, type of contract, periods of unemployment, supervisory status, type and size of the municipality, diocese, and spiritual background.",
"fi": "Akavan kirkolliset ammattiliitot (AKI ry) halusi vuonna 2006 toteutetulla jäsenkyselyllään selvittää työelämässä olevien jäsentensä kokemuksia ammattiliiton toiminnasta ja mielipiteitä ajankohtaisiin hallinnollisiin ja eettisiin kysymyksiin. Kyselyssä selvitettiin myös vastaajien työhyvinvointia. Ammattiliiton toimintaa ja jäsenyyttä koskevissa kysymyksissä vastaajalta kysyttiin adjektiiviparien avulla käsityksestään liitosta, esimerkiksi kuinka paikalleen pysähtynyt tai uudistushaluinen liitto on hänen mielestään. Tyytyväisyyttä AKI:iin selvitettiin kysymällä mielipidettä sen viime vuosien aikana tarjoamiin palveluihin kuten neuvottelutoimintaan, ammattijärjestön Crux-lehteen, Papistonpäiviin ja opintomatkoihin. Vastaajilta kysyttiin lisäksi, millaisia asioita haluaisi liitossa edistettävän tulevaisuudessa. Kirkollisten alojen hallintoon liittyvissä kysymyksissä, vastaaja sai kertoa, mitä mieltä on esimerkiksi seurakuntien yhdistämisistä, fuusioiden aiheuttamasta uhkasta, henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvan palkkauksen oikeudenmukaisuudesta, kanttorien ja pappien tuomiokapitulien alaisuuteen siirtämisestä ja kiinnostuksesta esimiestehtäviin ja kirkkoherran virkaan. Sukupuoltenvälistä tasa-arvoa koskevissa kysymyksissä vastaajalta kysyttiin näkemystä siihen, miten tasa-arvo toteutuu vastaajan työpaikalla, onko sukupuolella merkitystä pappisvirkaan soveltumiseen, mikä on hänen kanta naispappeuteen ja miten naispappien kanssa tulisi käytännössä työskennellä seurakunnassa. Seksuaalivähemmistöjen oikeuksista ja työskentelystä kirkon piirissä koskevissa osiossa, vastaajalta selvitettiin ensiksi hänen kantaansa hedelmöityshoitojen saajiin ja perheen ulkopuolisten sukusolujen käyttöön lapsettomuushoidoissa. Seuraavaksi vastaajalta kysyttiin väitteiden muodossa, mitä mieltä hän on homoseksuaalien ja rekisteröidyssä parisuhteessa olevien hyväksymisestä kirkon eri työntekijöiksi, kirkollisten siunausten suorittamisesta seksuaalivähemmistöille ja kirkon linjan rikkomisesta samaa sukupuolta olevien kanssa työskentelyn kysymyksissä. Työviihtyvyydestä vastaajalta tiedusteltiin eri kirkollisten toimintasektoreiden arvostuksesta, työn henkilökohtaisesta merkityksellisyydestä, työtyytyväisyydestä, tyytyväisyydestä työstä saamaan taloudelliseen korvaukseen ja mahdollisuuksista edetä uralla. Lisäksi kysyttiin, millaista hengellisen elämän tukea kaipaa kirkolta. Vastaajan työssä jaksamista pohjustivat kysymykset työhön käytetystä ajasta ja kirkon työn piirissä vapaaehtoisesti tehdystä työstä. Vastaajan voimavaroja, jaksamista ja työn kuormittavuutta kartoitettiin kysymällä esimerkiksi kuinka usein tuntee itsensä lopen uupuneeksi tai iloiseksi työnsä parissa. Lopussa vastaajalta kysyttiin myös henkilökohtaisen uskoon ja sen harjoittamiseen liittyviä kysymyksiä. Taustamuuttujina kyselyssä olivat muun muassa syntymävuosi luokiteltuna, sukupuoli, siviilisääty, papiksivihkimisvuosi luokiteltuna, kanttorin valmistumisvuosi luokiteltuna, virka-asema, seurakunnan koko, työn painopistealue, nykyisen työnantajan palveluksessa vietetyt vuodet, työttömänä olo kahden viime vuoden aikana, esimiesasema ja hiippakunta."

"en": "The study investigated views on accountability and the connection between corruption and political institutions in Botswana and Austria. The data consist of transcriptions and notes of interviews conducted in English. The interviewees represented different influential political bodies and actors studying or monitoring such bodies. These bodies and actors include, for example, Transparency International, the UN, the Office of the President, the Office of the Ombudsman and universities. The interview questions charted views on the prevailing government structure, power and division of powers, accountability, electoral system, bureaucracy and corruption. There was a separate set of questions tailored for each country, but the main themes were mostly the same. Some of the interviews have been transcribed more precisely than the others and for some interviews only notes exist. The interviews conducted in Austria have mostly been transcribed verbatim from recordings. The interviews conducted in Botswana were not recorded and have therefore been transcribed non-verbatim from notes made during the interviews.",

Haastateltavat edustavat pääasiassa erilaisia tutkimuksen kohdemaissa toimivia vaikutusvaltaisia poliittisia elimiä, tai niiden toimintaa tutkivia tai tarkkailevia tahoja. Haastateltavien taustaorganisaatioita ovat esimerkiksi Transparency International, YK, presidentin kanslia, sisäministeriö, oikeusasiamiehentoimisto sekä paikalliset yliopistot. Haastattelukysymykset liittyvät mm. vallitsevaan poliittiseen järjestelmään ja sen toimivuuteen, valtaan ja sen jakautumiseen, vastuullisuuteen, äänestyskäytäntöihin, byrokratiaan sekä korruptioon. Molempien maiden kohdalla käytettiin kyseiselle maalle räätälöityä kysymysrunkoa, jotka kuitenkin olivat pääteemoiltaan yhteneväiset. Osa haastatteluista on litteroitu tarkemmin kuin toiset ja osasta on olemassa vain muistiinpanot. Itävallassa tehdyt haastattelut on purettu äänitteiltä litteraatioiksi käyttäen ranskalaisia viivoja. Pääsääntöisesti Itävallan haastattelut on litteroitu varsin sanatarkasti. Botswanassa tehtyjä haastatteluja ei ole alunperinkään äänitetty vaan niistä on tehty ei-sanantarkka translitterointi haastattelumuistiinpanojen perusteella. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla haastatteluja ja haastattelumuistiinpanoja on helppo selata."

"en": "The survey studied expectations on and experiences of Evangelical Lutheran worship services in Finland. The survey formed part of a worship service development project conducted by the Office of the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Expectations on worship services and Mass were studied with a number of statements. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to Bible-reading during the service, sermons, intercessory prayer, the Holy Communion, hymns, music, liturgy, minister, atmosphere at the service, relevance for certain groups etc. For example, \"The sermon should focus on God's grace\" or \"Well-known hymns create a good atmosphere\". Next, the respondents were asked how well their expectations had been fulfilled in the particular service they had attended, how the service had in fact been conducted. The issues taken up were the same as mentioned in the statements above. For example, \"The sermon focused on God's grace\" or \"The hymns in the service were known to me\". One set of questions explored which factors might influence the respondents' willingness to attend worship services. Background variables included the respondent's year of birth, economic activity, education, frequency of worship service attendance and membership in a parish.",

Tutkimus on osa kirkkohallituksen vuosina 2011-2013 toteuttamaa jumalanpalveluselämän kehittämishanketta \"Tiellä - på väg\". Kyselyn alussa vastaajalta tiedusteltiin väitteiden avulla, mitä hän odottaa jumalanpalveluksesta ja miten kyseinen asia toteutui siinä jumalanpalveluksessa, johon hän osallistui. Näissä kysymyksissä käsiteltiin papin, liturgin ja muun kirkon henkilökunnan toimintaa sekä seurakuntalaisten jumalanpalvelukseen osallistumista. Vastaajalta kysyttiin esimerkiksi, onko papin uskottava siihen, mitä hän puhuu, tulisiko hänen kohdata seurakuntalaiset hyväksyvästi ja armollisesti sekä pitäisikö seurakuntalaisten osallistua esirukousten laatimiseen ja lukemiseen. Lisäksi vastaajalta kysyttiin musiikkia, ehtoollista, esirukouksia, saarnan sisältöä, jumalanpalveluksen jälkeistä yhteistoimintaa ja tilaisuuden kestoa koskevia kysymyksiä. Seuraavaksi vastaajalta tiedusteltiin väitteiden avulla jumalanpalvelukseen osallistumiseen liittyviä yksityiskohtia, kuten vaikuttaako messussa toimiva pappi tilaisuuteen lähtemiseen, häiritsevätkö jumalanpalveluksessa tapahtuvat virheet häntä, osallistuuko hän vain oman seurakunnan jumalanpalveluksiin ja miten hän omasta mielestään suoriutuu seurakunnan osuuksista. Lopuksi kyselyssä vastaajalla oli mahdollisuus kertoa avovastauksin, mikä erityisesti sen päivän jumalanpalveluksessa ilahdutti tai ärsytti, ja oliko jumalanpalvelus sellainen kuin se hänen mielestään pitäisi olla. "en": "The study charted alternative spirituality, its significance and practice among the readers of the Finnish new age magazine 'Ultra'. The respondents' world views and religious beliefs were investigated as well as their values and interest in sprituality. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with several statements relating to religion, spirituality and different world views (e.g. \"There exists a single indescribable divine truth that cannot be personified\", \"It is worth taking into account the position of the stars and planets when making big decisions\"). Interest in spirituality was surveyed by asking the respondents which topics in Ultra they found most interesting (e.g. alternative medicine, religion, unusual phenomena), which views they thought were important sources of inspiration to them (e.g. Buddhism, Paganism, Humanism), and whether they had participated in different courses/lectures/sessions (tarot consultation, angel course) or practised yoga, meditation or shamanism. Reasons for practising meditation, prayer or equivalent were inquired, as were the frequency of church attendance, ways of celebrating important life events and belief in central Christian doctrines. The respondents' values were investigated by presenting them several statements describing a person with certain characteristics and asking how much they thought they were like the persons described (e.g. \"Success is important to him/her. He/she wants his/her accomplishments to be noticed\"). Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth, marital status, highest education attained, membership of a religious community, religious orientation (regardless of membership to a religious community), type of municipality of residence and the political party R had voted for in the previous elections.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää lukijatutkimuksen avulla vaihtoehtoista henkisyyttä, sen merkitystä ja harjoittamista suomalaisten ihmisten keskuudessa. Kyselyssä kartoitettiin vastaajan uskonnollista ja maailmankatsomuksellista näkökantaa, kiinnostusta henkisyyteen, henkisyyden harjoittamista ja arvomaailmaa. Ensimmäiset kysymykset koskivat yleisesti uskontoja, henkisyyttä ja erilaisia maailmankatsomuksia. Vastaaja sai kertoa mielipiteensä esimerkiksi siitä, pitääkö vaihtoehtohoitoja epäillä, onko ihmisen hyödyllistä pyytää opastusta elämäänsä näkymättömiltä henkiolennoilta ja pitääkö ihmisen luottaa enemmän välittömään henkilökohtaiseen kokemukseen jumalallisesta, uskontojen ja pyhien kirjojen opetusten sijaan. Seuraavaksi vastaajalta kysyttiin oman henkisyyden harjoittamiseen ja uskonnolliseen käyttäytymiseen liittyviä asioita. Kysymyksissä tiedusteltiin, mitkä aihepiirit vastaajaa kiinnostavat new age -lehti Ultrassa ja onko hän lukenut viime aikoina itsensä kehittämiseen, ekologiaan tai vaihtoehtoisiin maailmankatsomuksiin liittyviä kirjoja, jotka ovat tehneet häneen voimakkaan vaikutuksen. Vastaaja sai myös valita omaa itseään inspiroivia katsomuksia, uskonnollisia suuntauksia tai ilmiöitä. Vastaajalla oli mahdollisuus valita inspiraation lähteekseen spiritualismin, ekologian, varhaiskristillisyyden, shamanismin, transpersoonallisen psykologian ja lisäksi joukon muita vaihtoehtoisia henkisyyden suuntauksia. Kysymyksissä uskonnollisesta käyttäytymisestä, vastaaja sai tuoda esille hengellisiä harjoituksia tai rituaaleja, joita hän on harjoittanut tai harjoittaa päivittäin. Vastaajalta tiedusteltiin, miten hän juhlistaa elämänkaaren tapahtumiaan ja kuinka usein hän käy kirkossa. Lisäksi vastaajalta kysyttiin syitä harjoittaa näitä rituaaleja, kuten tavoiteltiinko harjoittamisella tietoisuudentilan muuttamista, yhteyttä Jumalaan tai toisen hoitamista ja parantamista. Edellisten lisäksi kysyttiin, uskooko vastaaja erilaisiin kristinuskon keskeisiin oppeihin. The respondents who were members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland were asked additional questions about whether they had considered leaving the Church and whether they had joined the Church at some point (instead of being a member since birth). The respondents who did not belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church were asked whether they had ever considered joining the Church, whether they had left the Church and when, and why they had left. Participation and desire to participate in congregational and spiritual life was charted (e.g. the frequency of attending church service, reading the Bible). Satisfaction with the activities of the Parish on the whole was surveyed as well as perceptions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Religious education and upbringing received by the respondents was investigated by asking whether they were taught an evening prayer as a child at home, who had given them religious instruction, whether they had attended confirmation classes and what the effect of the classes had been on their spiritual and religious life and their attitudes toward the Church and the Parish. Some questions charted participation and willingness to participate in different forms of voluntary work, and reasons for not doing voluntary work. Finally, the respondents were asked to what extent they believed in different Christian doctrines and in some paranormal phenomena. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, household composition, economic activity, and education level as well as how long R had lived in the capital area, and whether they had children.",

Aineistossa kartoitetaan taustoja kirkon ja uskonnon muuttuneelle asemalle nuorten aikuisten elämässä, kuten uskonnon asemaa vastaajan arkipäivässä, syitä kirkosta eroamiseen sekä uskonnollisen kasvatuksen saamista. Vastaajilta kysytään muun muassa eri uskomuksista, kirkkoon kuulumisesta, siitä eroamisesta sekä uskonnollisesta osallistumisesta. Vastaajilta kysyttiin, kuinka usein he muun muassa osallistuvat jumalanpalvelukseen, lukevat Raamattua, rukoilevat tai kuuntelevat hengellistä musiikkia. Lisäksi kysyttiin, miten tyytyväisiä vastaajat ovat seurakunnan toimintaan ja miten myönteinen kuva vastaajilla on evankelis-luterilaisesta kirkosta. Kasvatuksen uskonnollisuutta kartoitettiin kysymällä lapsena opetetuista iltarukouksista, rippikoulusta sekä keneltä vastaaja on kokenut saavansa uskonnollista kasvatusta. Vastaajia pyydettiin myös arvioimaan rippikoulun vaikutuksia omaan uskonnolliseen elämään sekä omaan suhtautumiseen kirkkoon ja seurakuntaan. Lopussa kysyttiin vielä osallistumisesta seurakunnan järjestämään toimintaan, kuten pyhäkouluihin ja partioon, sekä vapaaehtoistyöhön. Vapaaehtoistyön muotoja olivat muun muassa työ vanhusten, lasten, kulttuurin tai eläinten parissa. Mikäli vastaaja ei tähän mennessä ollut tehnyt vapaaehtoistyötä, häntä pyydettiin arvioimaan, mitä näistä työn eri muodosta hän voisi mahdollisesti harjoittaa. Viimeisenä vastaajia pyydettiin vielä arviomaan omaa uskoaan eri asioihin, kuten Jeesukseen, saatanaan, enkeleihin, noituuteen ja ufoihin. Taustamuuttujina ovat muun muassa ikä, sukupuoli, kotitalouden rakenne, perhemuoto sekä työmarkkina-asema."

"en": "The survey studied religiosity and attitudes towards religious pluralism in Finland. It formed part of the research \"What Are the Impacts of Religious Diversity? Regions in Three European Countries Compared\", funded by New Opportunities for Research Funding Co-operation in Europe (NORFACE). The same survey was also carried out in Slovenia and Germany. First, views on religious pluralism were charted by asking the respondents whether truth can be found in none, one or all religions. The importance of religion in the respondents' lives was studied with questions about religious experiences, praying, meditating, taking part in religious services and activities, and belief in God and afterlife. The respondents were also asked how religious or spiritual they considered themselves to be and how often they rethought their religious views or were critical of religious teachings. Other questions covered the respondents' religious options and religious currents they had been in contact with. Another set of questions focused on the degree of fundamentalism, asking the respondents whether they tried to convert others to their religion, were prepared to make sacrifices for religion, whether they thought their religions was the only right one etc. Views were probed on what kind of groups (e.g. alcoholics, immigrants, homosexuals, people of different race) the respondents would not have liked to have as their neighbours. One theme pertained to tolerance towards immigrants. Frequency of participating in activities promoting human rights, development aid, community activities, environmental or cultural issues was charted, as well as participation in activities organized by a religious community and donations to charity. A number of questions studied religious affiliation and commitment to the religious community. Background variables included the respondent's year of birth, gender, education, marital status, financial circumstances of the family, number of persons living in the household, R's ethnic background, Finnish citizenship, native tongue, and type of neighbourhood.",

Seuraavaksi vastaajalta tiedusteltiin asenteista eri ihmisryhmiä kohtaan, kysymällä mitä ihmisryhmiä, kuten juutalaisia tai alkoholisteja, hän ei haluaisi naapurikseen. Suvaitsevaisuuteen ja ksenofobiaan liittyvät kysymykset jatkuivat maahanmuuttajia koskevilla väitteillä. Vastaaja sai kertoa, mitä mieltä on esimerkiksi siitä, tulisiko maahanmuuttajille tarjota sama elintaso kuin maamme omalle väestölle ja lisäävätkö maahanmuuttajat eri ongelmia kuten rikollisuutta, huumeidenkäyttöä ja sairauksia. Lopuksi vastaajalta kysyttiin hänen sosiaalisesta ja yhteiskunnallisesta aktiivisuudesta, kuten kuinka on ottanut osaa ryhmiin tai liikkeisiin, jotka toimivat kehitysavun, lähialueen hyvinvoinnin, ympäristönsuojelun, kansalaisaktivismin tai kulttuuristen kysymysten puolesta. "en": "The church employee survey studied the views of people working in the parishes of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Staff views were charted on worship service reform, confirmation training reform, parish activities, ordination of women, other religions and homosexuality. First, the respondents were asked to rate the importance of a number of activities conducted by the parishes. The activities mentioned included graveyard maintenance, help phone, missionary work, confirmation classes, parish magazines etc. Some questions focused on the worship service reform, its goals and feedback from parishioners. Views were also probed on the successfulness of the confirmation training reform. Personal opinions on the ordination of women were charted, as well as views on church blessing on same-sex couples and whether church ministers or youth, office or maintenance workers of the church could live together with a same-sex partner. One set of questions explored how positive or negative views the respondents had of other churches (e.g. Orthodox Church, Catholic Church, Evangelical Free Church) or of other religions/religious communities (e.g. Islam, Jehovah's Witnesses, scientology, Buddhism, Mormons). Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth (categorised), number of persons in the parish, diocese, job title, length of service in the church, type of municipality (urban or rural), and political party R had voted for in the 2003 parliamentary elections.",
"fi": "Evankelis-luterilaisen kirkon seurakuntien työntekijäkyselyssä kartoitettiin työntekijöiden kokemuksia jumalanpalvelus- ja rippikoulu-uudistuksesta sekä näkemyksiä seurakunnan eri toimintamuodoista, naispappeudesta ja samaa sukupuolta olevien henkilöiden parisuhteista. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin lisäksi mielikuvia eri kirkko- ja uskontokunnista. Seurakunnan toimintamuotojen tärkeyttä kartoitettiin kysymällä näkemyksiä eri toiminnoista, kuten kaste, kirkollinen vihkiminen, hautaan siunaaminen, työ vanhusten parissa, partio, lähetystyö, Kauneimmat joululaulut -tilaisuudet sekä Raamattu- ja rukouspiirit. Lisäksi kysyttiin nuorisotyöstä, työstä vammaisten parissa sekä erilaisista lasten ja nuorten kerhoista. Jumalanpalvelusuudistusta koskevissa kysymyksissä kysyttiin vastaajan mielipidettä uudistuksen tarpeellisuudesta, sen vaikutuksista sekä asioista, joihin uudistus on vaikuttanut eniten. Työntekijöiltä tiedusteltiin myös seurakuntalaisilta saatua palautetta uudistuksesta. Lisäksi kysyttiin jumalanpalvelusuudistuksen eri osatavoitteiden, kuten tehtävien jakamisen, raamatun ja kirkkotilan monipuolisen käytön, musiikin sisältölähtöisyyden sekä seurakuntalaisten innostamisen, toteutumisesta. Rippikoulu-uudistukseen liittyvät kysymykset käsittelivät käynnissä olevan uudistuksen tarpeellisuutta, sen seurauksia, tavoitteiden toteutumista omassa seurakunnassa sekä asioita, joihin uudistus on vaikuttanut. Tavoitteita, joiden toteutumisesta kysyttiin, olivat mm. seurakunnan toimintaan tutustuminen, nuoren elämän tilanteen huomioiminen, yhteistyö vanhempien ja kummien kanssa sekä isosten rooli rippikoulussa. Lopuksi kysyttiin vielä naispappeuteen suhtautumisesta, mielipiteitä homo- ja lesbosuhteita koskevista väittämistä sekä mielikuvia eri kirkko- ja uskontokunnista. Esiteltyjä kirkko- ja uskontokuntia olivat mm. ortodoksinen kirkko, pelastusarmeija, Jehovan todistajat, helluntailaisuus, islamilaisuus, juutalaisuus sekä Krishna-liike. Taustamuuttujina olivat vastaajan sukupuoli, syntymävuosi luokiteltuna, työskentelyseurakunnan hiippakunta ja kokoluokka, työtehtävä, seurakunnan tai kirkon palveluksessa työskentelemä aika sekä eduskuntavaaleissa äänestämä puolue."

"en": "The survey studied Finnish public opinion on the role and services of the police, feelings about safety and security, fear of crime, experiences of crime, and trust in the national institutions in crime prevention. First, the respondents were asked how important certain bodies (e.g. the Church, the Customs, schools, the Defence Forces) were to crime prevention and to improving the safety of their neighbourhood. Opinions on the extent to which the police force can prevent civil disorder and maintain safety were charted as well as whether the respondents had experiences of international crime. The respondents were asked how important certain things were in terms of maintaining public order and safety by the police, for instance, that the employment situation would improve, people suffering from substance abuse would receive treatment, prostitution would be prohibited and that the police would adopt zero-tolerance towards law-breaking. Views were probed on which tasks of the police were important. One theme examined the ways and means of improving road safety. Sense of security and fear of crime were studied by asking how worried the respondents were about certain things (e.g. assaults, housebreaking, drink driving, sexual harassment, Internet data security). Some questions focused on how safe the respondents felt at home during the day, in the city centre after dark, in their neighbourhood late at night, etc. The respondents were asked whether they themselves had become victims of certain crimes, whether they had notified the police, and if not, why. Further questions surveyed whether the respondents had been eyewitnesses to any crimes (e.g. stealing or car theft) or witnesses/complainants in a criminal procedure, and whether they had experienced a threat or pressure from somebody subjected to a criminal procedure. In addition, measures taken by the respondents to reduce the risk of crime (e.g. use of burglar alarms or avoidance of city centre after dark) were charted. Opinions on the accessibility and visibility of the police were examined by asking what the distance was from their home to the nearest police station, and whether the respondents had used the online services of the police. The quality of police services were assessed with questions about the last time the respondents had contacted the police, reasons for doing so, and how they had been treated. The respondents also rated how well the police had succeeded in solving crimes, preventing crime, providing help quickly, etc. Opinions on the attitude of the police towards people from different ethnic backgrounds were studied. The survey also charted opinions on the development of the services provided by the police as well as trust in the police, emergency and protective services, private security guards, the Border Guard, the Customs, and the Defence Forces. Opinions on the likelihood of police corruption were surveyed. In conclusion, the respondents were asked how long they had lived in their municipality of residence, how often they travelled abroad, and how often they spent time in the population centre of their municipality in the evening or at night. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, economic activity and occupational status, level of education, mother tongue, Internet use, household composition, ages of children living in the household, number of persons living in the household, gross annual household income, type of neighbourhood, and municipality and region (NUTS3) of residence.",
"fi": "Poliisibarometri 2012 kartoittaa laajasti kansalaisten mielipiteitä ja arvioita poliisin toiminnasta Suomessa. Aluksi vastaajat arvioivat erilaisten tahojen, kuten kirkon ja seurakuntien, palo- ja pelastustoimen, rajavartiolaitoksen, puolustusvoimien, koulujen ja poliisin tärkeyttä rikostorjunnassa sekä lähiyhteisön turvallisuuden parantamisessa. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin poliisin kyvykkyydestä kantaa vastuu yleisen järjestyksen ja turvallisuuden takaamisesta Suomessa sekä onko vastaajilla itsellään kokemuksia kansainvälisestä rikollisuudesta lähiympäristössä tai kauempana. Tämän jälkeen tiedusteltiin, miten tärkeää esimerkiksi juopottelun kieltäminen julkisilla paikoilla tai prostituution täyskielto ja valvonnan lisääminen ovat poliisin hoitaman yleisen järjestyksen ja turvallisuuden kannalta. Lisäksi vastaajat arvioivat poliisin erilaisten työtehtävien, kuten varkauksien, huumerikosten ja väkivaltarikosten selvittämisen tärkeyttä. Liikenneturvallisuuteen liittyen arvioitiin muun muassa nopeusvalvonnan, rattijuopumusvalvonnan ja raskaan liikenteen valvonnan merkitystä. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin, tuntevatko vastaajat yksinolonsa turvattomaksi esimerkiksi kotona, kodin lähistöllä, keskustassa, autolla liikuttaessa tai pankkiautomaatilla asioidessa päiväsaikaan tai pimeän tultua. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin, missä määrin asiat ja ilmiöt, kuten pahoinpitelyt, seksuaalinen ahdistelu ja väkivalta, huumeet, ampuma-aserikokset sekä alaikäisten juopottelu huolestuttavat vastaajia. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin, ovatko vastaajat itse joutuneet esimerkiksi asuntomurron, omaisuusrikoksen, pahoinpitelyn tai muun rikoksen uhriksi tai silminnäkijäksi. Rikosprosesseihin liittyen kysyttiin, ovatko vastaajat olleet todistajana tai asianomistajana ja kokivatko he uhkailua tai painostusta jonkun rikosprosessiin osallistuvan taholta. Tämän jälkeen rikoksen uhriksi joutuneilta kysyttiin, ilmoittivatko he poliisille rikoksesta ja jos eivät, niin mistä syystä. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin, ovatko vastaajat tehneet toimenpiteitä, kuten turvalukituksen tai hälytyslaitteiden käyttäminen asunnossa, polkupyörän säilyttäminen turvalukitussa tilassa, liikkumisen välttäminen iltaisin keskustassa tai henkilötietojen käyttämisen välttäminen internetissä torjuakseen rikosvaaraa tai rikosriskiä. Lisäksi pyydettiin arvioimaan poliisin saapumisnopeutta tapahtumapaikalle kiireellisessä tarpeessa, poliisin partioinnin tiheyttä asuinalueella ja etäisyyttä kotoa poliisiasemalle sekä poliisin palvelupisteelle. Myös poliisin verkkopalvelun käytöstä kysyttiin sekä tiedusteltiin, minkälaisissa asioissa vastaajat ovat olleet yhteydessä poliisiin viimeisen vuoden aikana. Poliisin kanssa asioineilta kysyttiin palvelukokemuksesta ja rikosilmoituksen tehneiltä myös asian lopputuloksesta. Lisäksi pyydettiin arviota siitä, suhtautuuko poliisi eri tavoin eri kulttuureista ja roduista lähtöisin oleviin. Lopuksi vastaajat arvioivat vielä muun muassa poliisin onnistumista tehtävissään, poliisipalveluiden kehittymistä viimeisen ja tulevan vuoden aikana sekä luottamustaan eri viranomaisten toimintaan. "en": "The election survey was collected after the 2003 parliamentary elections in Finland. First, the respondents were asked how often they discussed politics with others, and how interested they were in politics. They were presented with a set of attitudinal statements on using Finnish and Swedish, status of mother tongue, Sweden, Swedish People's Party in Finland, and the composition of the Government. The respondents were also asked whether they primarily identified with Finns in general, Swedish-speaking Finns, Finnish-speaking Finns, or other nationalities or language groups. In addition, they indicated which language was used in their home and how well they could speak Finnish. In view of the elections, the respondents were asked whether they had voted in the 2003 parliamentary elections, how self-evident they considered voting, and whether choosing a party and candidate had been easy or difficult. They were also asked which party they had voted for, whether the party or the candidate had been more important to them when deciding on how to vote, whether they had voted for the same candidate before, and whether they personally knew the candidate they had voted for. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, education, occupation group, social class, marital status, household size, religiosity, region and municipality of residence, language proportion in municipality of residence, and electoral district.",

Aluksi vastaajalta tiedusteltiin, kuinka usein hän keskustelee politiikasta muiden ihmisten kanssa ja kuinka kiinnostunut hän on politiikasta. Väitelausein selvitettiin vastaajan näkemyksiä suomen ja ruotsin kielten käytöstä, äidinkielen asemasta, Ruotsista, Ruotsalaisesta kansanpuolueesta ja hallituksen kokoonpanosta. Kysyttiin myös, mihin ryhmään vastaaja ensisijaisesti identifioituu: suomalaisiin ylipäätään, ruotsinkielisiin suomalaisiin, suomenkielisiin suomalaisiin vai muuhun kansallisuuteen tai kieliryhmään. Vastaaja kertoi myös, mitä kieltä hänen kotonaan käytetään ja kuinka hyvin hän osaa suomea. Vaaleihin liittyen kysyttiin äänestikö vastaaja vuoden 2003 eduskuntavaaleissa, kuinka itsestäänselvää äänestäminen oli ja oliko puolueen ja ehdokkaan valinta helppoa vai vaikeaa. The following information is included in the data: type of the motion, id number of the motion, the year the motion was made, the first signatory to the motion, party of the first signatory, title of the motion, section of the state budget, date of the motion, and other signatories to the motion. The project was funded by the Academy of Finland, professor emeritus Hannu Nurmi's project \"Models of Political Institutions\" (MOPI), the Public Choice Research Centre (PCRC) at the University of Turku, and the department of Political Science at the University of Turku.",

"fi": "Aineistossa on haastateltu Tampereen kaupungilla perhepalveluissa työpareina työskenteleviä sosiaalityöntekijöitä ja sosiaaliohjaajia. Haastattelut toteutettiin työpareittain. Sosiaalityöntekijät ja ohjaajat olivat työskennelleet yhdessä aineistonkeruuhetkellä vajaan vuoden. Aineisto on kerätty osana laajempaa Tampere Praksis tutkimusyhteistyötä. Kysymykset käsittelevät vuonna 2015 tapahtunutta sosiaalihuoltolain uudistuksesta johtuvaa organisaatiomuutosta, työparin yhteistyötä, asiantuntijuutta sekä erilaisia mahdollisuuksia ja kehityskohtia, joita uusi työmuoto on luonut. Haastateltavat kertovat sosiaalityöntekijä-sosiaalityöntekijä-mallin ja sosiaalityöntekijä-sosiaaliohjaaja-mallin välisistä eroista ja siitä, miten kummankin työntekijän omaa asiantuntijuutta voidaan hyödyntää palvelutarpeen selvityksissä. Työparit arvioivat myös, millä tavalla sosiaalityöntekijän ja sosiaaliohjaajan roolit ja työnjako näkyvät työssä. Haastateltavilta kysyttiin, millaisia esteitä ja edistäviä tekijöitä heidän mielestään työparityöskentelyssä on. Haastateltavilta ei kerätty taustatietoja."

"en": "Statistics Finland conducted the Gambling Harm Survey in early 2017 as a mixed-mode internet/mail survey. The study was commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The study aimed to chart Finnish gambling habits, social and healthcare-related problems caused by gambling, and opinions on the visibility of advertising and marketing by Finnish gambling organisations. In 2016, three gambling operators had exclusive rights to provide gambling services in Finland: Finland's Slot Machine Association RAY (government-owned), Veikkaus (government-owned) and Fintoto. These three were merged into a single government-owned organisation in 2017. First, the respondents were asked what the reasoning was for a government-owned and government-regulated gambling market (e.g. securing gambling profits for the state; supporting Finnish art, science, sports, and social services; reducing the harm caused by gambling; preventing foreign competition). Their opinions on marketing and advertising by these organisations were examined with questions regarding, for example, how often the respondents had seen gambling advertisements on billboards, television, the internet etc. Gambling habits were examined with questions regarding the frequency of playing games of chance, such as lotteries or horse betting, and reasons for playing them. The study also surveyed if the respondents found gambling a problem, how often they had felt in 2016 that it was a problem, and if they were familiar with or had used different services provided by RAY, Veikkaus and Fintoto for helping control gambling. The amount of money the respondents had used for gambling in 2016 per week, per month and during the whole year was also surveyed, as well as in what sort of environments they played these games (e.g. at home, at work, in kiosks, at Casino Helsinki) and with whom (alone, with an acquaintance / a group of acquaintances, or with an unknown person / a group of unknown persons). It was also surveyed if the respondents gambled on the internet and whether they used a PC or a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet computer, for online gambling. Next, the Problem and Pathological Gambling Measure (PPGM) was used to evaluate the respondents' gambling habits. They were also asked about harm caused by gambling on their lives in general as well as relating to their economical situation, work or studies, health, emotional well-being and relationships. Other possible types of harm on the respondents' lives were also surveyed. Finally, the respondents were asked if their social circle in 2016 included persons who, in their opinion, gambled too much. It was queried who these persons were in relation to the respondents and what sort of problems these persons' gambling had caused for the respondent. Background variables included gender, education level, net income (categorised), economic activity and occupational status, age group and NUTS3 region.",

Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan, millaisia seurauksia heidän pelaamisellaan oli yleisesti, taloudellisesti, työhön tai opiskeluun liittyen, terveydellisesti, tunnetasolla sekä ihmissuhteissa. Pyydettiin myös arvio muista mahdollisista haitoista. Lopuksi kysyttiin, oliko vastaajan elämässä vuoden 2016 aikana henkilöä, joka vastaajan mielestä pelasi liikaa rahapelejä sekä tiedusteltiin, millaisia haittoja näiden henkilöiden rahapeliongelmat aiheuttivat vastaajille. "en": "The survey focused on Finland's membership in the European Community, the country's economic recession, social conflicts between different groups, and political influence of certain groups and institutions. Finland had applied for the EC membership in March 1992, and many questions explored issues connected to the membership, membership negotiations, and the impact of the membership. The respondents were also asked how interested they were in issues connected to the EC and European integration, and how well informed of these issues they were. Opinions on the likelihood of Finland becoming an EC member state were charted. One topic pertained to the process of deepening European integration, and how negatively or positively the respondents viewed the possibility that Finland would participate in common foreign policy, common security and defence policy, single European currency, etc. The survey studied perceptions of the impact the EC membership would have on Finland (e.g. on standard of living, employment, business conditions, interest rate, wage level, national sovereignty). One theme pertained to causes of and reasons behind the economic recession. Views were also probed on whether certain bodies and groups (trade unions, Parliament, the media, banks, the police, political parties, universities, etc.) held too little or too much power in the society. Further, the respondents were asked whether there were conflicts, and how strong, between various groups (e.g. the rich vs. the poor, the media vs. decision-makers, well-educated vs. poorly educated, employers vs. employees, young people vs. the elderly) in Finland. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, size of municipality, province of residence, basic and vocational education, economic activity, employment sector, and which political party R would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held at that time.",

"en": "This study surveyed Finnish forest owners' views on the METSO biodiversity programme, principles of forest management, securing biodiversity of forests, and forest use. The survey is part of the METSO collaborative research project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (2013-2016). The first questions covered the type of measures that had already been taken to preserve the respondents' forest sites (e.g. WWF Heritage Forest agreements or other conservation agreements). It was also queried whether the forest owners had signed a METSO agreement and which measures they would take on the sites after the contract ended, e.g. signing new conservation agreements or carrying out logging operations. Further questions surveyed whether the respondents felt that a conservation agreement restricted the utilisation of the site's resources. The study was also interested in whether the respondents' forests contained sites that are protected by law, e.g. mating and resting sites of Siberian flying squirrels. The factors that the respondents deemed important in securing biodiversity of forests were examined as well (e.g. securing recreation possibilities in accordance with everyman's right, preserving the natural condition of the site, or economic gain from conservation agreements). Next, the respondents were presented with attitudinal statements regarding the METSO programme and, for instance, the compensation received from METSO conservation sites. The survey also studied the role of knowledge and interaction in securing biodiversity. The forest owners were asked to evaluate if a variety of conservation-related services were needed, e.g. a map showing valuable nature sites in their forests or estimates of the economic effects of a protected forest site versus a commercial forest site. They were also asked to evaluate different actors' roles and reliability in the conservation agreement process (e.g. the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, and the Finnish Forest Centre). The influence of different people's opinions (e.g. family, neighbours, and professionals at forest management associations (MHY)) on conservation measures were also examined. The respondents were asked with which organisation they preferred to transact in issues relating to the METSO programme, forest management, and timber sales, and if they had put together a forest management plan. Finally, the respondents' objectives relating to forest use were surveyed. They were asked what types of forest management measures they would undertake in the following five years, e.g. clear felling, uneven-aged forest management, or preserving areas in accordance with FSC or PEFC certifications. Further questions about the respondents' experiences of forest management plans were also asked. Background variables included, for instance, gender, age, type of municipality of residence, education level, household gross income and income received from forests, and type and duration of forest ownership.",

Lisäksi kysyttiin onko metsänomistajalla voimassa olevaa METSO-sopimusta sekä toimenpiteistä mahdollisen METSO-sopimuksen päättymisen jälkeen. Edelleen tiedusteltiin rajoittaako metsäsopimus kohteen hyödyntämistä. Tutkimuksessa oltiin niin ikään kiinnostuneita, mitkä tekijät metsänomistajat näkivät tärkeiksi monimuotoisuuden turvaamisen kannalta. Kyselyssä tutkittiin myös tiedon ja vuorovaikutuksen osaa monimuotoisuuden turvaamisessa. Metsänomistajia pyydettiin arvioimaan asteikolla erilaisten palveluiden tarpeellisuutta sekä arvioimaan erilaisten toimijoiden roolia suojelusopimusprosessissa (esim. ELY-keskus, Metsäkeskus). Metsänomistajan tuli arvioida myös erilaisten tahojen mielipiteiden vaikutusta suojeluun liittyvissä toimenpiteissä (esim. perhe, tiedotusvälineet). Lopuksi tiedusteltiin metsätilan metsäsuunnitelmasta. Metsänomistajalta kysyttiin, minkälaisia tavoitteita hänellä on metsien käytölle sekä minkälaisia metsänkäsittelymenetelmiä metsänomistaja käyttää metsänhoidossaan. Taustamuuttujina oli mm. sukupuoli, ikä, paikkakuntatyyppi, tilan omistuksen kesto, ammattiasema, koulutus, bruttotulot ja metsästä saadut tulot."

"en": "The survey studied longevity and the oldest-old by charting the care, activity and everyday life of people aged 90 and over living in Tampere. The respondents who lived at home were asked who they lived with, whether someone helped them at home, who helped them the most with everyday tasks, whether a housekeeper or home helper visited them regularly, whether they spent most of the day on their feet, sitting down or in bed, and whether they thought it is a good thing for a person to live to be 100 years old. The rest of the questions were asked from both those respondents who lived at home as well as the ones living in residential care. These questions surveyed when the respondents had last been out of the house/apartment/room, whether they used any mobility aids when moving about outside, how well the respondents were able to move and do everyday activities (e.g. walk 400 metres, use the stairs, dress and undress, and get in and out of bed), what their health status was like, and which illnesses diagnosed by a doctor they had. Finally, the respondents were asked when they had last met their children, when they had last talked on the phone with someone close to them as well as whether they thought old people were respected and whether the circumstances of old people were better or worse than before. There were two background variables, which charted where the respondent had been at the time of responding (e.g. ordinary home, old people's home, hospital) and who had responded or aided in responding to the survey; the respondent him/herself, a family member, relative or acquaintance, or a home helper.",
"fi": "Tutkimuksessa kartoitettiin pitkän iän salaisuuksia tarkastelemalla 90 vuotta täyttäneiden tamperelaisten asumiseen, avun saamiseen, toimintakykyyn ja arkeen liittyviä asioita. Kotona asuvilta tutkittavilta kysyttiin aluksi kenen kanssa he asuvat ja auttaako joku heitä kotona esimerkiksi pukeutumisessa, peseytymisessä ja ruoanlaitossa. "en": "The survey studied longevity and the oldest-old by charting the care, activity and everyday life of people aged 90 and over living in Tampere. The respondents were asked who they lived with, whether someone helped them at home, who helped them the most with everyday tasks, and whether a housekeeper or home helper visited them regularly. Further questions examined whether the respondents spent most of the day on their feet, sitting down or in bed, whether they did their shopping by themselves, whether they went outside regularly, whether they followed news in the paper, and whether they thought it is a good thing for a person to live to be 100 years old. Relating to health and physical mobility, questions were asked about self-perceived health status, how well the respondents were able to move and do everyday activities (e.g. walk 400 metres, use the stairs, dress and undress, and get in and out of bed), and which illnesses diagnosed by a doctor they had. Finally, the respondents were asked whether old people were respected and whether the circumstances of old people were better or worse than before. There was a background variable charting who had responded to the survey; the respondent him/herself, a family member, relative or acquaintance, or a home helper.",

Aluksi tutkittavilta kysyttiin kenen kanssa he asuvat ja auttaako joku heitä kotona esimerkiksi pukeutumisessa, peseytymisessä ja ruoanlaitossa. Henkilökohtaista avunsaantia ja kodinhoitoapua selvitettiin tarkemmin kysymällä kuka auttaa eniten kotona jokapäiväisessä elämässä ja käykö kodinhoitaja tai kotiavustaja ainakin kerran viikossa. Muita arkeen ja toiminnallisuuteen liittyviä asioita selvitettiin kysymällä viettävätkö tutkittavat suurimman osan päivästä vuoteessa, jalkeilla vai istuskellen, käyvätkö he itse kaupassa, ulkoilevatko päivittäin ja seuraavatko uutisia sanomalehdistä. Lisäksi kysyttiin missä ammatissa tutkittavat ovat toimineet suurimman osan työikäänsä, onko heidän mielestään ihmisen hyvä elää 100-vuotiaaksi ja millaiseksi he arvioivat oman terveydentilansa. Fyysistä toimintakykyä selvitettiin kysymällä kykenevätkö tutkittavat liikkumaan vaikeuksitta, kävelemään 400 metriä, kulkemaan portaissa, pukeutumaan, pääsevätkö vuoteesta ja onko tutkittavilla lääkärin toteamia sairauksia. Lopuksi vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan, minkä verran iäkkäitä ihmisiä arvostetaan nykyisin ja onko vanhojen ihmisten asema muuttunut tutkittavien lapsuuden ajoista. Aineistossa on lisäksi tieto siitä, vastasivatko vanhukset itse kysymyksiin."

"en": "The main themes of the survey were leadership, work, taxation and security of Finland. First, the respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to, for instance, political parties and the political system, science and technology, employment, economic growth, taxation, changes in society, health care, environment, entrepreneurship, public services, Finland's foreign relations, NATO membership, regulation of alcohol, social services, national debt, etc. Regarding the parliamentary elections of 2015, the respondents were asked what the new government should focus on (e.g. lowering taxation, increasing funding for education, crime prevention, cutting public expenditure) and how well certain characteristics and descriptions (e.g. \"patriotic, always promotes Finland's interests\") applied to the four prime minister candidates (Antti Rinne, Juha Sipilä, Timo Soini, Alexander Stubb). Opinions were charted on why Finland's capacity for decision-making has been poor. Reasons mentioned included, for instance, the inexperience of decision-makers, politicians' fear of media reaction and negative publicity, shift of decision-making to the EU, and the strong role of bureaucracy. Regarding taxation, the respondents' opinions were surveyed on statements about tax policy (e.g. \"On the whole, taxation in Finland is too high\", \"Taxation should not be lowered if it leads to weakening social security and public services\") and which taxes should be increased and decreased. Views on the likelihood of certain future developments in occupational life were investigated. The respondents were also asked which ways of increasing the amount of work done in Finland they regarded acceptable in order to finance the welfare state (e.g. increasing weekly working hours, raising retirement age). Self-perceived health status and use of private and public health services were surveyed as well as opinions on the quality of health services in Finland. The respondents were asked how well certain characteristics/descriptions applied to Russia (e.g. \"good neighbour and associate\", \"centralised dictatorship\"). Relating to the European Union, opinions were charted on Finland's EU membership and the currency change to euro. The respondents were also asked whether the EMU membership and the euro were advantageous or disadvantageous to Finland in the economic situation at the time of the survey, and whether they would have voted for or against Finland's EU membership if a referendum had been held at the time of responding. Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth, region of residence (NUTS3), basic and vocational education, economic activity and occupational status, industry of employment, political party choice if parliamentary elections were held at the time of survey, membership in a trade union, self-perceived social class, and number of inhabitants in the municipality of residence.",

Lisäksi kysyttiin suomalaisen sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon toimivuudesta, vastaajien käyttämistä terveyspalveluista ja koetusta terveydentilasta. Edelleen tiedusteltiin vastaajien Venäjään liittyviä mielikuvia, kuten hyvä naapuri ja yhteistyökumppani, merkittävä sotilaallinen uhka sekä osa eurooppalaista kulttuuripiiriä. Lopuksi kartoitettiin suhtautumista EU-jäsenyyteen ja mielipiteitä rahayksikön vaihtamisesta markasta euroon. "en": "The survey studied Finnish public opinion on the role and services of the police, feelings about safety and security, fear of crime, experiences of crime, and trust in the national institutions in crime prevention. First, the respondents were asked how important certain bodies (e.g. the Church, the Customs, schools, the Defence Forces) were to crime prevention and to improving the safety of their neighbourhood. Opinions on the extent to which the police force can prevent civil disorder and maintain safety were charted as well as whether the respondents had experiences of international crime. The respondents were asked how important certain things were in terms of maintaining public order and safety by the police, for instance, that the employment situation would improve, people suffering from substance abuse would receive treatment, prostitution would be prohibited and that the police would adopt zero-tolerance towards law-breaking. Views were probed on which tasks of the police were important. One question examined opinions on the ways of improving road safety. Sense of security and fear of crime were studied by asking how worried the respondents were about certain things (e.g. assaults, house break-in, drink driving, sexual harassment, Internet data security). Some questions focused on how safe the respondents felt at home during the day, in the city centre after dark, in their neighbourhood late at night, etc. Views were charted on how serious a problem crime was in the neighbourhood. The respondents were asked whether they themselves had become victims of certain crimes, whether they had notified the police, and if not, why. Further questions surveyed whether the respondents had been eyewitnesses to any crimes (e.g. theft, assault) or witnesses/complainants in a criminal procedure, and whether they had experienced a threat or pressure from somebody subjected to a criminal procedure. Measures taken by the respondents to reduce the risk of crime (e.g. use of burglar alarms or avoidance of city centre after dark) were charted. Opinions on the accessibility and visibility of the police were examined by asking what the distance was from their home to the nearest police station, and whether the respondents had used the online services of the police. The quality of police services were assessed with questions about the last time the respondents had contacted the police, reasons for doing so, and how they had been treated. The respondents also rated how well the police had succeeded in solving crimes, preventing crime, providing help quickly, etc. Opinions on the attitude of the police towards people from different ethnic backgrounds were studied. The survey also charted opinions on the development of the services provided by the police as well as trust in various institutions, such as the police, emergency and protective services, private security guards, the Border Guard, the Customs, and the Defence Forces. Opinions on the likelihood of police corruption were surveyed. In conclusion, the respondents were asked how long they had lived in their municipality of residence, how often they travelled abroad, and how often they spent time in the population centre of their municipality in the evening or at night. "fi": "Poliisibarometri 2014 kartoittaa laajasti kansalaisten mielipiteitä ja arvioita poliisin toiminnasta Suomessa. Aluksi haastatteluissa keskityttiin vastaajien arviointeihin poliisista ja sisäisestä turvallisuudesta. Vastaajat arvioivat esimerkiksi eri tahojen, kuten esimerkiksi kirkon, palo- ja pelastustoimen, yksityisten vartiointiliikkeiden, rajavartiolaitoksen, tullin, puolustusvoimien ja poliisin roolia rikostorjunnassa ja lähiyhteisön turvallisuuden parantamisessa. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin missä määrin poliisi pystyy vastaajien mielestä kantamaan vastuun yleisen järjestyksen ja turvallisuuden takaamisesta ja onko vastaajilla omakohtaisia kokemuksia kansainvälisestä rikollisuudesta. Seuraavassa osiossa selvitettiin haastateltavien näkemyksiä poliisin tehtävien tärkeydestä. Aluksi kysyttiin, miten tärkeitä eri asiat kuten esimerkiksi juopottelun kieltäminen julkisilla paikoilla, prostituution täyskielto ja valvonnan lisääminen, vaikuttaminen nuorten huumeiden käyttöä koskeviin asenteisiin, nuorten vapaa-ajanviettomahdollisuuksien lisääminen, poliisin tehokkaampi puuttuminen pieniin rikoksiin ja kouluissa tehtävä valistustyö, ovat haastateltavien mielestä poliisin hoitaman yleisen järjestyksen ja turvallisuuden kannalta. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin miten tärkeänä haastateltavat pitävät eri asioita poliisin työssä. Näitä asioita olivat muun muassa autovarkauksien, asuntomurtojen, huumerikosten ja raharikosten selvittäminen, rasismiin viittaavien rikosten tutkiminen, partiointi, kiireellisiin hälytyksiin vastaaminen, päihtyneiden huostaanotto, kotiväkivaltaan puuttuminen, talousrikostorjunta ja lupapalvelut. Seuraavaksi haastateltavia pyydettiin arvioimaan eri valvontamuotojen merkitystä liikenneturvallisuuden kannalta. Kyselyn kolmannessa osiossa selvitettiin rikosten pelkoa ja rikosriskejä. Haastateltavilta kysyttiin kokevatko he turvattomuutta ollessaan yksin tietynlaisissa tilanteissa, kuten esimerkiksi kotona päiväsaikaan, pankkiautomaatilla asioidessaan tai keskustassa pimeän tultua. Tämän jälkeen haastateltavilta kysyttiin kuinka vakavana ongelmana he pitävät rikollisuutta lähiympäristössään ja missä määrin rikokset, kuten esimerkiksi pahoinpitelyt, seksuaalinen ahdistelu ja väkivalta, asuntomurrot, huumeiden käyttö ja myynti, alaikäisten juopottelu tai tietoturvallisuus internetissä huolestuttavat heitä. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin ovatko haastateltavat olleet todistajina tai asianomaisina rikosprosessissa ja jos ovat olleet, ovatko he kokeneet uhkailua tai painostusta jonkun rikosprosessiin osallistuvan taholta. Osiossa kysyttiin myös, ovatko haastateltavat joutuneet jonkin rikoksen uhriksi tai kohteeksi ja jos olivat ilmoittivatko he rikoksesta poliisille ja jos eivät, niin mistä syystä. Lisäksi kysyttiin mitä arkisia toimenpiteitä, kuten esimerkiksi turvalukituksen tai hälytyslaitteiden käyttöä haastateltavat ovat tehneet rikosvaaran tai rikosriskin torjumiseksi. Kyselyn neljännessä osiossa selvitettiin haastateltavien käsityksiä poliisipalveluista, niiden saatavuudesta ja laadusta. Tätä selvitettiin pyytämällä arvioimaan poliisin saapumisnopeutta tapahtumapaikalle kiireellisessä tarpeessa, poliisin partioinnin tiheyttä asuinalueella ja etäisyyttä kotoa poliisiasemalle sekä poliisin palvelupisteelle. Myös poliisin verkkopalvelun käytöstä kysyttiin ja tiedusteltiin asioita, joissa vastaajat ovat olleet yhteydessä poliisiin viimeisen vuoden aikana. Poliisin kanssa asioineilta kysyttiin palvelukokemuksesta ja rikosilmoituksen tehneiltä myös miten asiointi poliisin kanssa sujui. Lisäksi pyydettiin arviota siitä, suhtautuuko poliisi eri tavoin eri kulttuureista ja roduista lähtöisin oleviin. Lopuksi vastaajat arvioivat vielä muun muassa poliisin onnistumista tehtävissään, poliisipalveluiden kehittymistä viimeisen ja tulevan vuoden aikana sekä luottamustaan eri viranomaisten toimintaan. Lisäksi kysyttiin, pitävätkö vastaajat poliisiin liittyvän tai sen sisällä esiintyvän korruption ja epäeettisen toiminnan esiintymistä todennäköisenä. Taustakysymyksissä pyydettiin tietoja muun muassa vastaajan iästä, ammattiasemasta, koulutuksesta, elämäntilanteesta, perheestä, talouden bruttotuloista, asuinalueesta, äidinkielestä, ulkomaille matkustamisesta, ulkona liikkumisesta iltaisin tai öisin ja internetin käytöstä."
