"en": "The survey studied Finnish people with substance abuse problems, their treatment and rehabilitation process, and the success of treatment. The participants were clients of outpatient clinics who were asked to fill in questionnaires at different stages of the rehabilitation process. At the beginning of the the treatment, themes pertained to the respondents' background, use of substances and perceptions on treatment. Questions covered their recent substance use and frequency, longest period of sobriety, contacts with other substance abusers, experiences of sexual abuse, attitude towards the principles and activities of AA/NA groups, and religiosity. Treatment history and views on the beginning treatment were charted with questions focusing on whether the respondents had been a client of that particular clinic before, whether they had sought treatment voluntarily, what their goals regarding treatment were, which gender they wished their therapist to be, the importance of medication during treatment, belief in the success of treatment and whether recovery happens as a result of the therapist's or the respondents' own actions. After six months of treatment, the respondents were again asked about their substance use and frequency, periods of sobriety and contacts with other substance abusers. Questions were also asked about their attendance in AA/NA group activities and other treatment, and their satisfaction with the help and support received from the therapist. The data further include responses to AASE questionnaire (The Alcohol Addiction Self-Efficacy Scale) that measures a person's ability to abstain from substance abuse. The respondents' impressions on their negative emotions as well as their readiness to change were investigated with STAXI (State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory) and URICA (University of Rhode Island Change Assessment) questionnaires. The variables W1T-W3A include responses of both the clients and their therapists to the question about how well they have been able to cooperate. These responses were collected at the end of the first and third therapy sessions. Additionally, the data include a variable that the therapist recorded (KDI-variable) which provides information on whether the treatment period was finished as planned. A separate survey was conducted for the therapists of the respondents in this study (see FSD2688 and FSD2689).",
"fi": "Aineisto on osa laajempaa Suomalainen päihdehoito -sarjaa, johon kuuluu niin kvantitatiiviseen kuin kvalitatiiviseen tutkimukseen soveltuvia osa-aineistoja. Tämä lomakekysely on kerätty A-klinikoille hoitoon tulleilta päihdeongelmaisilta seitsemällä eri A-klinikalla Etelä- ja Länsi-Suomessa. Mukana olevat A-klinikat on valittu maantieteellisin ja väestöllisin perustein. Tutkimukseen pääsivät mukaan kaikki halukkaat tammi-heinäkuussa 2008 kyseisille A-klinikoille hoitoon hakeutuneet henkilöt. Aineistoa on kerätty sekä ensimmäisellä käyntikerralla että hoidon jatkuessa. Hoidon alkaessa hoitoon tulevilta päihdehoidon asiakkailta kysyttiin mm. heidän taustastaan, päihteiden käytöstään sekä heidän suhtautumisestaan hoitoon. Yksittäiset kysymykset kartoittivat esimerkiksi päihdeongelmaisten kontakteja muihin päihteiden käyttäjiin, käytettyjä päihteitä, viimeaikaisia selviä jaksoja, päihdehoitoon liittyviä henkilökohtaisia tavoitteita ja uskoa hoidon onnistumiseen. Kun hoitoa oli jatkunut kuusi kuukautta, vastaajilta kysyttiin uudelleen heidän päihteiden käytöstään, sekä lisäksi esimerkiksi heidän osallistumisestaan ryhmätoimintaan ja tyytyväisyydestään terapeuteilta hoidon aikana saamaansa apuun. Aineisto pitää sisällään myös vastaukset päihdehoidon asiakkaille tehtyyn AASE (The Alcohol Addiction Self-Efficacy Scale) -mittariin perustuvaan kyselyyn, jolla pyritään selvittämään päihdeongelmaisten kykyä kieltäytyä päihteistä. Myös tutkimushenkilöiden käsityksiä omista negatiivisista tunteistaan sekä heidän muutosvalmiuttaan selvitettiin erillisillä STAXI (State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory) ja URICA (University of Rhode Island Change Assessment) mittareilla. Aineiston muuttujat W1T-W3A pitävät sisällään sekä A-klinikoiden asiakkaiden että heidän terapeuttiensa vastaukset kysymykseen heidän välisensä yhteistyösuhteen toimivuudesta. Arvio kerättiin ensimmäisen ja kolmannen terapiasession päätteeksi. Aineisto sisältää lisäksi terapeutin kirjaaman muuttujan, joka kuvaa hoidon jatkuvuutta (KDI-muuttuja). Taustamuuttujia ovat mm. ikä, sukupuoli, siviilisääty, koulutus ja perhemuoto. Kyselyyn osallistuneiden päihdeongelmaisten terapeuteille tehtiin oma kysely, joka ovat saatavilla erillisinä aineistoina (FSD2688 ja FSD2689)."

"en": "The evaluation survey examined how well the objectives set for the Bologna Process had been achieved in degree programmes at Finnish universities of applied sciences (UAS) and how well the new two-cycle degree structure functioned. Other main themes included student mobility and changes in degree requirements. First questions investigated to what extent degree programmes had been aware of the goals set for the degree reform, what were the most important goals for them and how well these goals had been achieved in their field. Other topics included participation in field-specific projects connected to the reform at national or European level and the usefulness of such projects. Degree programmes were asked to evaluate the implementation of the reform in the university of applied science, to what extent different stakeholders had participated, how useful national level support for the implementation had been and how well the field had succeeded in transferring from the previous to the new degree structure. The functionality of the two-cycle system was studied with a number of questions relating to the status and feasibility of UAS bachelor and master degrees. Further questions investigated the impact of the reform on the length of study, that is, how quickly students complete their courses. The next set of questions studied whether the reform had facilitated and increased domestic and international mobility of students and in what ways. Another theme focused on the impact of the reform on curricula and degree requirements. Questions covered, for instance, to what extent curricula had been changed, what factors had been taken into account in planning them, equivalence between credits and workload and whether the needs of working life had been taken into account. Finally, the respondents were asked to evaluate the implementation and success of the degree reform in their own field. Background variables included the name of the institution (UAS) and field of study.",
"fi": "Tutkinnonuudistuksen arvioinnin pääkohteena ovat kaksiportainen tutkintorakenne eli ammattikorkeakoulututkinnot ja ylemmät ammattikorkeakoulututkinnot. Tutkinnonuudistuksen arviointi on jaettu kolmeen pääteemaan. Pääteemat ovat tutkintorakenteen toimivuus, liikkuvuus sekä tutkintojen tuottama osaaminen ja suhde työelämään. Tutkinnonuudistuksen tavoitteita ja niiden toteutumista käsiteltiin kysymällä asetettujen tavoitteiden tunnettuudesta, koulutusalan kannalta tärkeimmistä kansallisista tavoitteista ja tavoitteiden toteutumisesta. Organisointia ja toimeenpanoa kartoitettiin kysymällä koulutusalan osallistumisesta tutkinnonuudistukseen liittyneisiin eurooppalaisiin hankkeisiin tai valtakunnalliseen alakohtaiseen yhteistyöhön tutkinnonuudistusta toteutettaessa. Kysyttiin myös koulutusalan eri toimijoiden osallistumisesta tutkinnonuudistuksen suunnitteluun. Tutkintorakenteen toimivuutta käsiteltiin kysymällä tutkintojen asemasta tutkintojärjestelmässä ja tutkintorakenteen selkeydestä. Vastaajilta pyydettiin arviota kaksiportaisen tutkintorakenteen toimivuudesta, sen ongelmakohdista ja kehittämiskohdista. Tutkinnonuudistuksen vaikutusta valmistumisaikoihin käsittelivät kysymykset valmistumisaikojen mahdollisesta lyhenemisestä sekä siihen vaikuttaneista syistä. Kysyttiin myös, onko jokin erityinen syy vaikuttanut opintojen viivästymiseen. Opiskelijoiden kotimaista liikkuvuutta kartoitettiin kysymyksillä opiskelijoiden siirtymisestä koulutusalalta toiselle oman korkeakoulun sisällä, opiskelijoiden siirtymisestä samalle alalle toiseen korkeakouluun ja opiskelijoiden siirtymistä toiselle korkeakoulusektorille. Vastaajilta pyydettiin myös näkemyksiä kotimaisen liikkuvuuden keskeisimmistä esteistä sekä niistä keinoista, joilla koulutusala pyrkii edistämään kotimaista liikkuvuutta. Kansainvälistä liikkuvuutta käsiteltiin kysymällä onko tutkinnonuudistus lisännyt ammattikorkeakoulututkintoa suorittavien opiskelijoiden lähtöä vaihto-opiskeluun ulkomaille, onko ylempää ammattikorkeakoulututkintoa suorittavien opiskelijoiden vaihto-opiskelu ulkomailla lisääntynyt ja onko tutkinnonuudistus lisännyt koulutusalalla opiskelevien lähtöä opiskelemaan ylempää tutkintoa ulkomaille. Tutkintojen suunnittelua, toteutusta, arviointia ja kehittämistä kartoitettiin kysymyksillä opetussuunnitelmien muutoksista tutkinnonuudistuksen yhteydessä sekä esitettiin opetussuunnitelmatyötä koskevia väittämiä. Vastaajille esitettiin väittämiä myös tutkintojen mitoituksesta ja opintojen kuormittavuudesta. Lisäksi väittämien avulla kartoitettiin tutkintojen suunnitteluun liittynyttä työelämäyhteistyötä ja tutkintojen työelämärelevanssia. Pyydettiin myös arviota tutkinnonuudistuksen vaikutuksista koulutuksen ja tutkintojen toteutukseen. Koulutuksen arviointia ja kehittämistä kuvaamaan pyydettiin tietoja koulutusalan käytänteistä, joilla koulutusala seuraa ja kehittää tutkintoja suhteessa työelämän tarpeisiin. Lisäksi vastaajia pyydettiin kuvaamaan keskeisimpiä työelämän ja osaamistarpeiden kehityssuunnitelmia, jotka vaikuttavat tulevaisuudessa koulutusalan tutkintorakenteen kehittämiseen."

"en": "The data were collected for the cross-European EUROSTUDENT IV study, forming the Finnish part of the survey. Main themes included the socio-economic background and living conditions of students, study progress, international mobility and expectations and plans for the future. Questions covered reasons for choosing the programme (work, personal development) and expectations for getting a job after graduation. The survey also charted the respondents' gap years, and qualifications and employment background before enrolling in the current programme. Living conditions were studied with questions on housing, distance to institution, income and expenses, paid jobs during semester and the term and time use for different purposes. The respondents were asked whether their progress in studies had been as planned, and if slow, about factors influencing the progress. International mobility was investigated by asking about study periods abroad and other issues related to study abroad (funding, expectations, reasons, obstacles). Personal conditions were further studied by asking the respondents whether they had children and how many, and whether the was anything that hindered their studies. Some questions focused on family background, surveying the education level, employment status, occupational group and social standing of the parents. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, R's and parents' country of birth, number of times applied for the programme, year when first enrolled for the programme, whether full-time or part-time student, whether a student of distance education, field of study, major region (NUTS2), region (NUTS3), plans for studying after completing the current programme, language of the programme and R's language skills.",
"fi": "Opiskelijatutkimus 2010 liittyy 26 maan yhteiseurooppalaiseen EUROSTUDENT IV -tutkimushankkeeseen. Aineisto kerättiin loppuvuodesta 2009 korkeakouluopiskelijoille suunnatulla verkkokyselyllä, jonka aihealueita olivat opiskelijoiden taustat, toimeentulo, ajankäyttö, opintojen kulkuun vaikuttavat tekijät, tulevaisuuden näkymät ja opiskelijaliikkuvuus. Aluksi kysyttiin muun muassa nykyisiin opintoihin päätymisestä, muista tutkinto-oikeuksista, työkokemuksesta ja välivuosien pitämisestä. Asumiseen liittyen tiedusteltiin asumismuotoa, tyytyväisyyttä asumismuotoon ja matkan pituutta oppilaitokseen. Seuraavaksi selvitettiin laajasti vastaajien tuloja ja menoja, opintotukiasioita sekä toimeentulon riittävyyttä. Ajankäyttöosiossa tiedusteltiin, paljonko aikaa vastaajat käyttävät päivittäin opetuksen seuraamiseen, itsenäiseen opiskeluun ja ansiotyöhön. Lisäksi kysyttiin muun muassa, ovatko opinnot edenneet vastaajan tavoitteita hitaammin ja mistä tämä on johtunut. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin vielä ulkomailla suoritetuista opinnoista ja harjoitteluista sekä näiden rahoituksesta ja sujumisesta. Taustamuuttujina tutkimuksessa olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä luokiteltuna, kielitaito, oppilaitoksen tyyppi, suoritettava tutkinto, tutkinnon aloitusaika sekä vanhempien koulutus, ammatti ja pääasiallinen toiminta."

"en": "The survey studied several themes, including the use of media, social trust, political participation and interest, political trust, political orientation and commitment, satisfaction with own circumstances and certain public services, perceptions of own well-being, religious views, experiences of discrimination, and national and ethnic identity. These themes are recurring in different ESS rounds. Themes for the rotating modules in this collection round included justice and family, work and well-being. Opinions on the police were also charted. The self-administered follow-up questionnaire included the Schwartz Human Values Scale as well as test questions controlling the main questionnaire. Questions about ncome disparity and taxation were also asked. The respondents' socio-demographics were widely charted, including, among others, household composition, gender, age, type of neighbourhood, education, occupation, background information on spouse and parents, trade union membership, household income, and marital status.",
"fi": "Tutkimus käsitteli useita eri aihealueita, kuten median käyttöä ja sosiaalista luottamusta; kiinnostusta, luottamusta ja osallistumista politiikkaan, poliittista sitoutuneisuutta ja suuntautuneisuutta, tyytyväisyyttä omaan tilanteeseen ja joihinkin erikseen mainittuihin yhteiskunnan palveluihin, koettua hyvinvointia ja ulossulkemista, uskonnollisia mielipiteitä, koettua syrjintää sekä kansallista ja etnistä identiteettiä. Nämä teemat toistuvat ESS-tutkimuskierroksilla. Vaihtuvien osioiden aiheet käsittelivät poliisia ja oikeuslaitosta sekä perhettä, työtä ja hyvinvointia. Poliisin toimintaa kartoitettiin kysymällä kohteleeko Suomen poliisi rikoksen uhreja tasapuolisesti ja kuinka hyvin poliisi onnistuu ehkäisemään väkivaltarikollisuutta tai väkivallalla uhkailua Suomessa. Kysyttiin myös, mitä velvollisuuksia vastaajalla omasta mielestään on poliisia kohtaan. Tuomioistuimista kysyttiin kuinka hyvin tai huonosti ne hoitavat tehtävänsä, tekevätkö ne virheitä ja ovatko päätökset oikeudenmukaisia ja puolueettomia. Kysyttiin myös kuinka todennäköisesti eri ihmisryhmät voivat tulla tuomituiksi rikoksista, joita he eivät ole tehneet. Haluttiin myös tietää ottavatko tuomarit Suomessa vastaan lahjuksia. Tiedusteltiin myös vastaajien mielipiteitä rangaistuksista sekä halukkuudesta tunnistaa rikoksentekijä ja todistaa oikeudessa. Työtä ja perhettä käsiteltiin kysymällä taustatietoja kotitaloudessa asuvista henkilöistä. Kysyttiin mm. samassa taloudessa asuvien kotitalouden jäsenten sukupuoli, syntymävuosi sekä sukulaisuussuhde vastaajaan. Vastaajilta kysyttiin lisäksi ovatko he asuneet avoliitossa ja ovatko he koskaan eronneet. Seuraavaksi kysymykset käsittelivät asuinaluetta, vastaajan ja puolison koulutusta, työssäkäyntiä sekä sitä, mikä on ollut vastaajan ja puolison pääasiallinen toiminta viimeisen viikon aikana. Lisäksi useilla kysymyksillä kartoitettiin vastaajan ja puolison osallistumista työelämään. Kysyttiin myös vastaajan osallistumisista ammattitaitoa parantaville kursseille, luennoille tai konferensseihin. Seuraavat kysymykset käsittelivät eri elämänalueiden yhteensovittamista. Vastaajilta kysyttiin millaiseksi he ovat tunteneet vointinsa viime aikoina sekä esitettiin väittämiä miehen ja naisen paikasta perheessä. Kysyttiin myös kotitalouden tulojen riittävyydestä viimeisten kolmen vuoden aikana. Esitettiin myös syventäviä kysymyksiä vastaajan ja puolison työssäkäynnistä. Näillä kysymyksillä pyrittiin selvittämään työn ja perheen yhteensovittamista. Kysyttiin mm. kuuluuko vastaajan tai puolison työhön ilta- tai yötyötä, ylitöitä lyhyellä varoitusajalla ja kuinka usein vastaaja tekee viikonlopputyötä. Vastaajilta pyydettiin myös arvioita hänen oman työnsä vaatimuksista sekä esitettiin erilaisia työtä koskevia väittämiä. Itsetäytettävät ns. perävaunulomakkeet sisälsivät vastaajien perusarvoja 21 väitelauseen avulla kartoittavan Schwartzin arvomittarin (Human Values Scale) ja päälomakkeen laatua kontrolloivia testikysymyksiä. Lisäksi esitettiin väittämiä tuloeroista ja verotuksesta. Haastateltujen sosiodemografisia taustoja kartoitettiin tutkimuksessa hyvin laajasti. Heiltä tiedusteltiin muun muassa perherakennetta, sukupuolta, ikää, asuinalueen tyyppiä, koulutusta ja ammattia, puolison ja vanhempien taustoja, kuulumista ammattiliittoon, kotitalouden tuloja ja siviilisäätyä."

"en": "The Finnish National Library, FinELib, conducted an Internet survey on the use of electronic publications. The survey was aimed at researchers working in universities, university hospitals and research institutes cooperating with the FinELib consortium. First questions focused on the type of research funding received by the respondents during the previous five years, the type of research (theoretical, empirical or planning and development) and the proportion of work time spent on several different tasks (e.g. reading scientific literature or source materials, teaching and guidance). One set of questions covered publications by the respondents, and media and language in which published. The respondents were asked about collaboration in publishing with other researchers in general and researchers from other fields of study, other organisations and abroad. The importance of this collaboration was surveyed. The respondents estimated what proportion of the publications they needed was in electronic form, how often they read different types of publications, how they read the publications (i.e. what means they used to view them), the age of the publications and whether they read publications outside their own discipline. Information retrieval was examined with questions about the most used sources or channels when initiating a search and which sources or channels they acquired the needed information from. The respondents were asked about using research funding to acquire electronic publications in their research projects, availability of such publications to other people, and financing of the acquisition of the publications. Views were probed on help and support wished from the library or information services of own organisation and experiences of library services abroad compared to Finnish ones. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, organisation, highest passed examination, work experience in research profession, professional status, scientific discipline and field of research.",
"fi": "Kansallinen elektroninen kirjasto FinELib toteutti syys-lokakuussa 2011 elektronisten julkaisujen käyttöä koskevan verkkokyselyn. Kysely suunnattiin yliopistoissa, yliopistollisissa sairaaloissa ja FinELib-konsortioon kuuluvissa tutkimuslaitoksissa työskenteleville tutkijoille. Kyselyyn saatiin 3830 vastausta. Aluksi kysyttiin millaista rahoitusta vastaajat ovat saaneet tutkimustyöhön viimeisen viiden vuoden aikana sekä onko tutkimus pääosin teoreettista, empiiristä vai suunnittelu- ja kehitystyötä. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin miten suuri osuus vastaajien työajasta kuluu erilaisiin tehtäviin, kuten tieteellisen kirjallisuuden tai lähdekirjallisuuden lukemiseen, tutkimusaineiston keräämiseen ja analyysiin, opetus- ja ohjaustyöhön sekä hallintoon. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin kuinka paljon vastaajilla on ollut työhön liittyviä julkaisuja kahden viime vuoden aikana erilaisissa kategorioissa, kuten vertaisarvioiduissa suomalaisissa tai kansainvälisissä tieteellisissä lehdissä, konferenssijulkaisuissa, monografioissa sekä blogeissa, wikiartikkeleissa tai muissa vuorovaikutteisissa verkkojulkaisuissa. Omiin julkaisuihin liittyen kysyttiin myös, millä kielillä vastaajat pääosin julkaisevat. Seuraavat kysymykset koskivat tutkimus- ja julkaisuyhteistyötä, yhteistyötahoja Suomessa ja kansainvälisesti sekä yhteistyön merkitystä. Tämän jälkeen selvitettiin elektronisten julkaisujen käyttöä tutkimustyössä. Tähän liittyen kysyttiin muun muassa, kuinka suuri osa käytetyistä julkaisuista on saatavissa sähköisesti, kuinka usein ja miten vastaajat lukevat eri tyyppisiä julkaisuja (tietokone, iPad, e-kirjalukija, painettu, tuloste) sekä minkä ikäisiä julkaisuja vastaajat yleensä käyttävät. Seuraavaksi kysyttiin tiedonhakuun liittyviä kysymyksiä. Vastaajat kertoivat, mistä he yleensä aloittavat tiedonhaun ja minkä kanavien kautta tieto yleensä löytyy. Lisäksi kysyttiin vielä elektronisten aineistojen hankintaan käytetystä rahoituksesta ja elektronisten aineistojen käytön ongelmista. Lopuksi pyydettiin vertailemaan mahdollisia ulkomaankokemuksia kirjastopalveluista vastaajien nykyisen työpaikan tarjoamiin palveluihin. Taustamuuttujina tutkimuksessa olivat muun muassa ikä, sukupuoli, työskentelyorganisaatiot, ammattiasema ja tieteenala."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, satisfaction with the job, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. The year 2004 survey contained more questions than previously on workplace characteristics, pay systems, willingness to give up work, bullying and violence. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours and contracts over the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. Further questions covered team work, and whether there had been conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Incidents of bullying and violence were charted. Next set of questions covered autonomy and influence at work, overtime and its compensation, and membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training, support from supervisors etc were charted as well as pay systems and satisfaction with the workplace. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. Other questions covered workplace characteristics and the respondents' participation in job-related training and development. The respondents were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Opinions were charted on employment situation in Finland and what kind of changes were happening in working life in, for instance, relating to management style, possibility to influence decisions, the financial situation of their organisation. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational health and safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, illnesses, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. The respondents were asked whether they would be willing to give up work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender or contract type was explored. Työolobarometrin sisällöstä pääosa on pidetty samanlaisena eri vuosina. Vuonna 2004 uudistettiin ja laajennettiin palkkaustapoja koskenutta osiota. "en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, job satisfaction, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. The year 2005 survey contained amended and new questions on pay systems. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours, contracts and organisational structure over the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. Further questions covered team work, and whether there had been conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Incidents of bullying and violence were charted. Next set of questions covered autonomy and influence at work, overtime and its compensation, and membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training, support from supervisors etc were charted as well as pay systems and satisfaction with the workplace. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. Other questions covered workplace characteristics and the respondents' participation in job-related training and development. The respondents were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Opinions were charted on employment situation in Finland and what kind of changes were happening in working life in, for instance, relating to management style, possibility to influence decisions, the financial situation of their organisation. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational health and safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, illnesses, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. The respondents were asked whether they would be willing to give up work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender or contract type was explored. Erityisteemana oli työaikojen joustavuus sekä työn ja oman ajan välinen raja. Ensimmäiset kysymykset koskivat työsuhteen pituutta ja luonnetta sekä työpaikan henkilöstöä. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin esimerkiksi vuoden aikana tapahtuneista muutoksista henkilöstön lukumäärässä, irtisanomisista ja lomautuksista. Seuraavat kysymykset koskivat työpaikan ilmapiiriä, kuten esiintyykö työpaikalla ristiriitoja, olivatko ne lisääntyneet, ja kenen välillä niitä esiintyi. Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin työtehtävistä ja työn luonteesta sekä palkkaukseen liittyvistä asioista, kuten ylityökorvauksista, lisistä ja tulospalkkioista sekä vastaajan suhtautumisesta palkkaukseensa. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin työajan joustosta, kotona työskentelystä ja ammattiliittoon kuulumisesta. Vastaajat ottivat kantaa mm työtahdin, työturvallisuuden ja ammattitaidon kehittämisen mahdollisuuksien lisääntymiseen tai vähenemiseen. Vastaajilta kyseltiin myös työn ja palkkauksen suhteesta, ja oliko työpaikalla toteutettu projekteja tuottavuuden tai laadun kehittämiseksi, sekä oliko vastaaja ollut palkallisilla kursseilla. Seuraavaksi siirryttiin tiedustelemaan, oliko työpaikalla liian vähän henkilöitä tehtäviin nähden, olivatko työt hyvin organisoituja, ja kokiko vastaaja työn fyysisesti raskaaksi. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös, pitävätkö he mahdollisena, että seuraavan vuoden aikana heidät esimerkiksi lomautetaan, irtisanotaan tai siirretään toisiin tehtäviin. Lisäksi vastaajat pohtivat työllisyystilannetta sekä sitä, onko työelämä muuttumassa suuntaan tai toiseen esimerkiksi tasa-arvon, ympäristökysymysten huomioon ottamisen, esimiesten johtamistavan tai itsensä kehittämisen mahdollisuuksien suhteen. Lopuksi tiedusteltiin vielä muun muassa työkykyyn ja työterveyteen liittyviä asioita, sekä miten tärkeä asia työ on perhe-elämään ja vapaa-aikaan suhteutettuna. Lisäksi kysyttiin, esiintyykö vastaajan työorganisaatiossa syrjintää tai eriarvoista kohtelua, joka perustuu esimerkiksi ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen luonteeseen tai työntekijän syntyperään. Samoin tiedusteltiin, oliko työpaikalla pyritty vaikuttamaan työturvallisuuteen, terveyteen tai ammattitaidon kehittämiseen. Työolobarometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2002) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala."

"en": "The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes were psychosocial working environment, job characteristics, pay systems, satisfaction with the job, employment security, training and development, capacity to work, and bullying and discrimination at work. The year 2003 survey contained more questions than previously on workplace characteristics. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had worked for the employer they were working for at the time, type of contract, number of persons at the workplace, what kind of changes there had been in staff numbers, working hours, contracts and organisational structure over the past 12 months, and whether people had been transferred to other units. Further questions covered team work, and whether there had been bullying or conflicts at the workplace, between what groups and whether the conflicts had decreased or increased over the past 12 months. Next set of questions covered autonomy and influence at work, overtime and its compensation, and membership in a trade union or professional association. Changes over the past year in workload, physical or mental stress, in access to training, support from supervisors etc were charted as well as pay systems and satisfaction with the workplace. One topic pertained to whether the respondents had presented any ideas to improve working conditions, products, services or working methods at the workplace and whether there had been other development initiatives. Other questions covered workplace characteristics and the respondents' participation in job-related training and development. The respondents were asked how likely it was that they would be dismissed or laid off, or their tasks or working hours would be changed over the next year. Opinions were charted on employment situation in Finland and what kind of changes were happening in working life in, for instance, relating to management style, possibility to influence decisions, the financial situation of their organisation. A number of questions investigated how the employees' capacity to work and occupational health and safety had been taken into account at the workplace, the respondents' sickness absences, illnesses, and estimate of own mental and physical capacity to work. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender or contract type was explored. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, type of municipality, major region (NUTS2), region (NUTS3), occupational group, status in employment, industry of employment, employer type, weekly working hours, additional jobs, industry of additional job, and basic and vocational education. Most background variables were obtained from the Labour Force Survey 2003 telephone interviews.",

Tämän jälkeen kysyttiin työtehtävistä ja työn luonteesta sekä palkkaukseen liittyvistä asioista, kuten ylityökorvauksista, lisistä ja tulospalkkioista sekä vastaajan suhtautumisesta palkkaukseensa. Vastaajien kokemuksia vaikuttamisesta työtehtävien sisältöön, tahtiin, koulutukseen ja esimerkiksi laitehankintoihin selvitettiin. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin työajan joustosta, ylitöistä, kotona työskentelystä ja ammattiliittoon kuulumisesta. Vastaajat ottivat kantaa mm. työtahdin, työturvallisuuden ja ammattitaidon kehittämisen mahdollisuuksien lisääntymiseen tai vähenemiseen kuluneen vuoden aikana. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin työn ja palkkauksen suhteesta, ja oliko työpaikalla toteutettu projekteja tuottavuuden tai laadun kehittämiseksi. Vastaajat kertoivat, oliko työpaikalla liian vähän henkilöitä tehtäviin nähden, olivatko työt hyvin organisoituja, ja esimerkiksi, kokiko vastaaja työn fyysisesti raskaaksi. Seuraavaksi vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, pitävätkö he mahdollisena, että seuraavan vuoden aikana heidät esimerkiksi lomautetaan, irtisanotaan tai siirretään toisiin tehtäviin. Vastaajia pyydettiin arvioimaan, kuinka eri tekijät vaikuttaisivat heidän työnsaantimahdollisuuksiinsa, mikäli he jäisivät työttömiksi. Lisäksi vastaajat pohtivat työllisyystilannetta sekä sitä, onko työelämä muuttumassa suuntaan tai toiseen esimerkiksi tasa-arvon, ympäristökysymysten huomioon ottamisen, esimiesten johtamistavan tai itsensä kehittämisen mahdollisuuksien suhteen. Vastaajat arvioivat työkykyään kymmenportaisella asteikolla sekä suhteessa työn henkisiin ja fyysisiin vaatimuksiin. Vastaajat ilmoittivat, oliko heillä pitkäaikaisia sairauksia tai vammoja, ja oliko niistä haittaa työssä. Eriarvoisuutta ja syrjintää työpaikalla selvitettiin muun muassa tiedustelemalla, ilmenikö vastaajan työorganisaatiossa eriarvoista kohtelua, joka perustuu ikään, sukupuoleen, työsuhteen luonteeseen tai työntekijän syntyperään. Vastaajat kertoivat, millaisia kokemuksia heillä oli ulkomaalaisista työntekijöistä, sekä oliko heidän työpaikallaan muihin kansallisuuksiin tai etnisiin ryhmiin kuuluvia työntekijöitä. Etätyöhön käytettyä tuntimäärää tiedusteltiin. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin, uskoivatko terveytensä puolesta jatkavansa samassa ammatissa kahden vuoden kuluttua. Työolobarometrissa on hyödynnetty työvoimatutkimuksen (Tilastokeskus 2000) taustamuuttujia. Taustamuuttujina olivat muun muassa sukupuoli, ikä, alue ja työpaikan toimiala."
