"en": "The data includes 15 terrestrial laser scans (TLS) from three different locations using FARO TX5 (at 905 nm wavelength) and FARO X330 (at 1550 nm wavelength) over the course of three days (29.7.-31.7.2019) totalling 45 scans for each wavelength. The TLS data was used to study the linkages between leaf water potential / leaf water content and laser intensity measured by the devices. The TLS data is unprocessed and has not been registered. The study site was located next to the ICOS measurement tower in Hyytiälä (SMEAR II). The flux and other data from the site can accessed here: https://smear.avaa.csc.fi/download The measurement notes file contains information on the exact timings of each TLS scan. The LeafWaterData file contains leaf water content and leaf water potential measurements for three trees in the vicinity of the TLS scans (two Scots pines, Sylvi and Pentti, and one silver birch, Jenni). "en": "This dataset contains 2,638 high-resolution powder bed (PB) images and 2674 optical tomography (OT) images with visible defects, collected from the EOS M290 machine during the laser-based powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) process. The PB images were collected by the EOSTATE PowderBed monitoring system before and after each layer's exposure. The OT images provide layer-wise thermal and structural insights during the build. All data were sourced from ADDLAB at Aalto University. All samples were printed with 316L stainless steel powder (Dv(25) = 22 µm, Dv(50) = 37 µm, Dv(75) = 58 µm), recoating speed 80 mm/s. Cropped Defects and Classification: Provides defect-centered image crops with binary class labels (\"Good\" vs \"Defects\") for image classification tasks. Preprocessed Data: Includes resized and normalized images, cropped to consistent dimensions and ready for data augmentation and model training. This is designed for defect detection using object detection models. This image dataset can be used for image recognition, object detection, and other potential research in Metal Additive Manufacturing."

"en": "We propose a temperature- and strain-dependent small-angle/wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) experiment to investigate the mesoscopic scale structural change in a thermo-responsive hydrogel system under heating/cooling cycles or deformations. Our hydrogel can respond remarkably to both temperature and strain, resulting in striking macroscopic changes in transparency, whiteness, or colour. Such dynamic optical properties in the hydrogel are caused by the micromorphology change in the range of 10–300 nm, which can hardly be monitored by the in-house SAXS instrument due to the limitation of spatial and temporal resolution. Our research will provide new insights and fundamental understandings of the structure-property relationship between dynamic optical properties and micromorphology within thermos-responsive hydrogel systems."

"en": "The interview data are part of a larger research project, Who is Excluded from Gender Equality in Elite Sport: A Transdisciplinary Study of Generational Culture Shifts in Sporting Ambition, Parenting, and Identity (SportEX). This dataset consists of life story interviews exploring the precarity of work and systemic inequalities in Finnish elite sport.\r\n \r\nParticipants include athletes, coaches, experts, and sport leaders representing diverse social positions—including gender identity, sexuality, race and ethnicity, parental and migrant status. Before the interview, participants were invited to complete a short demographic questionnaire (e.g., age, sport involvement, gender identity, sexual orientation) to indicate the areas they were open to discuss in the life story interview. This approach aimed to create a safer space for participants to exercise choice and privacy over sensitive disclosers. Participants then co-constructed narratives with the researcher on experiences of precarity, equity, and cultural shifts in sport, focusing on gender, intersectionality, parenting, and generational change. They were also invited to share personal objects of significance to engage with material-discursive aspects of their identities and sporting lives. \r\n\r\nThe dataset comprises interviews with 10 participants (7 self-identified women, 3 self-identified men, aged 24–61), each interviewed twice between autumn 2023 and summer 2025. Interview durations ranged from 56 minutes to 1 hour and 39 minutes, with an average length of 86 minutes. Interviews were conducted in Finnish and English based on participant preference. All interviews were transcribed and translated as needed, with attention to preserving contextual and affective meaning. \r\n\r\nParticipants reviewed and approved any quoted material to be used in publications to ensure contextual integrity and emotional safety. "fi": "Haastatteluaineisto on osa laajempaa tutkimushanketta ”Kuka jää tasa-arvon ulkopuolelle huippu-urheilussa”: Poikkitieteellinen tutkimus sukupolvien välisestä kulttuurisesta muutoksesta urheilutavoitteissa, vanhemmuudessa ja identiteetissä (SportEX). Aineisto koostuu elämänkertahaastatteluista, joissa tutkitaan työn epävarmuutta ja systeemistä epätasa-arvoa suomalaisessa huippu-urheilussa. \r\n\r\nOsallistujiin kuuluu urheilijoita, valmentajia, asiantuntijoita ja urheilujohtajia, jotka edustavat erilaisia taustoja – muun muassa sukupuoli-identiteetiltään, seksuaalisuudeltaan, rodultaan ja etnisyydeltään sekä vanhemmuuden ja siirtolaisuustaustan osalta erilaisia ryhmiä. Ennen haastattelua osallistujia pyydettiin täyttämään lyhyt taustatietolomake, jotta voitiin selvittää, mistä aiheista (ikä, urheiluun osallistuminen, sukupuoli-identiteetti, seksuaalinen suuntautuminen) he olisivat avoimia keskustelemaan elämänkertahaastatteluissa. Tällä toimintatavalla pyrittiin luomaan turvallinen tila, jossa haastateltavien valinnanvapaus ja yksityisyys voisi toteutua. Tutkimushaastattelut olivat yhdessä rakennettuja vuorovaikutustilanteita, joissa rakennettiin ymmärrystä prekaarisuuden, tasa-arvon ja kulttuuristen muutosten kokemuksista urheilussa ja keskityttiin sukupuoleen, intersektionaalisuuteen, vanhemmuuteen ja sukupolvien väliseen muutokseen. Haastateltavia pyydettiin myös ottamaan haastatteluihin mukaan heille henkilökohtaisesti merkityksellisiä esineitä, jotka auttoivat käsittelemään heidän identiteettinsä ja urheiluelämänsä aineellis-diskursiivisia näkökohtia.\r\n\r\nAineisto koostuu 10 osallistujan haastatteluista (7 itsensä neiseksi identifioinutta, 3 itsensä mieheksi identifioinutta, iältään 24-61-vuotiaita), joita kutakin haastateltiin kahdesti syksyn 2023 ja kesän 2025 välisenä aikana. Haastattelujen kesto vaihteli 56 minuutista 1 tuntiin ja 39 minuuttiin, ja niiden keskimääräinen pituus oli 86 minuuttia. Haastattelut tehtiin suomeksi ja englanniksi osallistujien toiveiden mukaan. Kaikki haastattelut litteroitiin ja käännettiin tarpeen mukaan kiinnittäen huomiota kontekstuaalisen ja affektiivisen merkityksen säilyttämiseen.\r\n\r\nOsallistujat kävivät läpi ja hyväksyivät kaiken julkaisuissa käytettävän suoria lainauksia sisältävän aineiston varmistaakseen, että kokevat sen olevan riittävästi kontekstualisoitua sekä heille emotionaalisesti turvallista. "en": "The interview data are part of a larger research project, Who is Excluded from Gender Equality in Elite Sport: A Transdisciplinary Study of Generational Culture Shifts in Sporting Ambition, Parenting, and Identity (SportEX). This dataset consists of seven conversational interviews conducted with five participants as a follow-up to a national survey on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in Finnish sport. \r\n\r\nAt the end of the anonymous survey, participants were invited to volunteer for an individual interview by contacting one of the project researchers by email. The interviewees (3 self-identified women, 2 self-identified men, aged 18-42) self-selected into the qualitative phase, reflecting the project’s ethical commitment to agency, care, and relational research practice. The interviewees included migrant and Finnish athletes and professionals at different stages of their careers and with varied sexual and gender identities, offering culturally and generationally diverse perspectives on EDI and systemic challenges in Finnish sport. Two participants engaged in two rounds of interviews, providing enriched opportunities for reflection and deeper narrative exploration.\r\n\r\nBefore the interview, participants were invited to complete a short demographic questionnaire (e.g., age, sport involvement, gender identity, sexual orientation) to indicate the areas they were open to discuss in the interview. This approach aimed to create a safer space for participants to exercise choice and privacy over sensitive disclosers. The interviews were designed to deepen understandings of lived experience and to elicit participants’ perspectives and critiques of inclusion, exclusion, and structural inequity in Finnish sporting environments. While guided by open-ended thematic questions, the interviews allowed participants to shape the flow of conversation, centring their narrative agency and situated sense-making. All interviews were conducted in Finnish or English, transcribed, and translated as needed. Interviews took place in autumn 2023. Poikkitieteellinen tutkimus sukupolvien välisestä kulttuurisesta muutoksesta urheilutavoitteissa, vanhemmuudessa ja identiteetissä (SportEX). Aineisto koostuu viiden haastateltavan kanssa tehdyistä seitsemästä keskustelumuotoisesta tutkimushaastattelusta, jotka toteutettiin jatkona yhdenvertaisuutta, moninaisuutta ja osallisuutta suomalaisessa urheilussa käsittelevälle valtakunnalliselle kyselylle.\r\n\r\nAnonyymin kyselyn lopussa vastaajille tarjottiin mahdollisuutta osallistua henkilökohtaiseen tutkimushaastatteluun ottamalla sähköpostitse yhteyttä yhteen hankkeen tutkijoista. Haastateltavat (3 naiseksi itsensä määrittelevää osallistujaa, 2 mieheksi itsensä määrittelevää osallistujaa, iältään 18–42 vuotta) valitsivat osallistumisensa laadulliseen vaiheeseen, heijastaen hankkeen eettistä sitoutumista toimijuutta, välittämistä ja vuorovaikutusta korostavaan tutkimuskäytäntöön. Haastateltuihin kuului suomalaisia ja siirtolaisurheilijoita ja muissa rooleissa toimivia urheilun ammattilaisia uransa eri vaiheissa ja erilaisin sukupuoli- ja seksuaali-identiteetein, tuoden kulttuurisesti ja sukupolvien välillä tarkasteltuna moninaisia näkökulmia yhdenvertaisuuteen ja rakenteellisiin haasteisiin suomalaisessa urheilussa. Kaksi haastateltavista osallistui kahteen haastattelutapaamiseen, tarjoten mahdollisuuksia reflektiolle ja kertomusten syventämiselle.\r\n\r\nEnnen haastattelua osallistujia pyydettiin täyttämään lyhyt taustatietolomake (esim. ikä, urheilutoimintaan osallistuminen, sukupuoli-identiteetti, seksuaalinen suuntautuminen), jonka tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa niitä aiheita, joista osallistujat olivat halukkaita keskustelemaan haastattelussa. Tämän lähestymistavan tavoitteena oli luoda turvallisempi tila osallistujien valinnanvapauden ja yksityisyyden säilyttämiseksi herkkätuntoisissa asioissa. Haastattelujen tarkoituksena oli syventää ymmärrystä eletyistä kokemuksista ja tuoda esiin haastateltavien näkökulmia ja kriittisiä näkemyksiä osallisuuteen, ulossulkeviin tekijöihin ja rakenteelliseen eriarvoisuuteen suomalaisen urheilun kontekstissa. Teemahaastattelut rakentuivat avoimille kysymyksille, antaen osallistujien ohjata keskustelua ja asettaen keskiöön heidän narratiivisen toimijuutensa ja paikantuneet merkityksensä. Haastattelut tehtiin joko suomeksi tai englanniksi, litteroitiin sekä käännettiin tarpeen mukaan. Haastattelut toteutettiin syksyllä 2023.
