The occurrence of threatening or violent behaviour by the client in the social welfare or health care facility was examined, and mental health problems unrelated to substance use as well as gambling problems were surveyed. Next, the questionnaire contained some questions directed only at either outpatient care clients (questions 15-21) or inpatient care clients (questions 22-23). The questions aimed at outpatient care clients focused on, for example, whether they had made an appointment beforehand, what services were provided to them (e.g. advice, clinical procedure, therapeutic discussion) and the time used on the services. The respondents were asked questions and presented statements about work, employment and occupational life. The respondents were first asked questions about their employment situation, such as whether they were in paid work, how many hours they worked per week, whether they were an entrepreneur and in a supervisory position, what type of employer they had, and what their occupation was. The respondents who had a spouse or a partner were also asked these questions about their spouse's or partner's employment situation. Opinions were charted on the importance of work in general and different aspects in work (e.g. good income, independence at work). Importance of family over work and work-family balance were surveyed as well as discrimination and harassment experienced at work. Views of the significance of trade unions were studied. The respondents were asked whether they would like to work longer or shorter hours, how often they felt their job was stressful and physically taxing, and how often they worked at home and during the weekends. A number of statements relating to current job were presented (e.g. \"My job is secure\"). Flexible working time arrangements were charted. One set of questions surveyed participation in professional training, relationships at the workplace, satisfaction with the job, and commitment to occupation and employer. Relating to job change and unemployment, the respondents were asked about plans to change jobs, the ease of finding a new job, worries over losing job, and steps they would be prepared to take to avoid unemployment (e.g. accept a job with a lower salary). Side jobs were charted. The respondents who did not have a paid job at the time of the survey were asked, among others, about the last time they had had a paid job, the reasons their last job had ended, satisfaction with last job, likelihood of finding a new job, steps taken to find a job, and their source of economic support. Finally, opinions were charted on whether the employment of people aged 60 and over was a positive or a negative thing. The themes were examined with several types of questions and attitudinal statements. The respondents were asked how happy they felt with life in general and how satisfied they were with their relationships with family members and relatives. Moreover, questions charted attitudes toward extramarital sexual relations of a married person and sexual relations between two adults of the same gender. Opinions were also examined on whether abortion is justified if the family has a very low income and could not afford any more children. Next, the survey charted the respondents' confidence in e.g. the parliament, business life and industry, church and religious organisations, courts and the judicial system, and schools and the educational system. In addition, the respondents were presented with several attitudinal statements concerning religion, religious leaders, science, and the influence of the church. Their opinions were also charted regarding religious extremist groups and God, as well as their belief in, for instance, life after death or religious miracles. The next questions covered the religious affilition of the respondents' parents and to which religion the respondents were raised as children. Current participation in prayer or church activities other than Sunday services was also charted. Professionals in social and health services recorded information on every client or patient who used the services on that day while intoxicated or because of some harm, such as an injury, relating to substance use, or were assessed by an employee to be a substance abuser. In 2019, information was collected from prisons and community sanctions offices in addition to social welfare and health care facilities. First, the client's intoxication was surveyed. If the client visited outpatient care, whether they had made an appointment before coming to the facility was charted. For inpatient care clients, the length of their continuous treatment at the time of data collection was charted. The daily use of products containing nicotine (e.g. cigarettes, snuff) and the substances the client had used in the past 12 months (e.g. alcohol, cannabis, cocaine) were examined. The client's simultaneous polydrug use (the simultaneous or concurrent use of two or more substances within a short time period) and whether they had ever during their life injected drugs were also surveyed. Next, the client's primary reason for using social and health services (e.g. injury, withdrawal symptoms, substance abuse problems) and the services provided to the client (e.g. helping with life management problems, intervention, detoxication) were surveyed. The occurrence of threatening or violent behaviour by the client in the facility was also examined, and mental health problems unrelated to substance use as well as gambling problems were charted. Background variables included, among others, the collection mode of the questionnaire, location and region (NUTS3) of the facility as well as type and sector of the facility and the language primarily used in the facility. Additionally, background variables included the client's gender, country of birth, location and region (NUTS3) of residence, marital status, age group, economic activity and occupational status, housing tenure and whether they had children under 18 years of age. Respondents were asked whether family responsibilities had ever got in the way of their career prospects and had they ever changed their working hours or working arrangements to look after a relative. Respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with a number of statements relating to gender roles at work and at home and how to combine work and family life. Statements charted respondents' opinions on working mothers, housework sharing, marriage, divorce, maternity leave and childcare. Respondents living with a spouse or a partner were asked about the division of domestic responsibilities: who takes care of household money matters, who does the laundry, makes small repairs, does everyday shopping, household cleaning and cooking. Further questions asked how many hours respondents and their spouses/partners spend on household work, whether housework was equally shared and how often they disagree about the sharing of the work. Some questions asked who makes decisions about how to bring up children or how to spend the weekend. All respondents were asked whether their occupational or family life was stressful and whether they had recently felt tired because of family responsibilities or work. Happiness in general and satisfaction with work and family life were studied. Respondents with children were asked whether they and their spouse/partner had had a paid job before they had children, when children were at school and after the children left home. The survey also queried whether respondents' mothers had had a paid job before the respondents were 14 years old. Kaikilta vastaajilta kysyttiin onko heidän elämänsä stressaavaa kotona tai töissä ja onko vastaaja ollut ansio- tai kotitöiden vuoksi uupunut viimeisen kolmen kuukauden aikana. Professionals in social and health services recorded information on every client or patient who used the services on that day while intoxicated or because of some harm, such as an injury, relating to substance use, or were assessed by an employee to be a substance abuser. Main themes included climate change, environmental problems, pollution, environmental conservation, what people would be willing to do for the environment and what were important issues for society in general. The 2020 survey is the third survey in the ISSP environment module collected in Finland. The respondents were asked what issues they considered important in Finland (e.g. health care, education, the economy, the environment) and what were the most important things the country should do (maintain order, give people more say in government decisions, fight rising prices, protect freedom of speech). They were also asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to how to solve income inequality and Finland's economic problems. Interpersonal trust and trust in government and politicians were also surveyed. Next questions focused on the environment. Views were probed on the most important environmental problems in Finland and the solutions to such problems. The respondents were also asked about climate change and its impacts for the world as a whole and for Finland. Willingness to protect the environment through higher prices, higher taxes or cuts in the standard of living was surveyed. Additionally, willingness to accept a reduction in the size of Finland's protected nature areas in order to open them up for economic development was charted. A number of statements charted the respondents' attitudes to environmental protection. Opinions were also probed on how dangerous for the environment certain things (e.g. air pollution, pesticides and chemicals in farming, water pollution, climate change, modifying the genes of crops) were and what were the best ways to protect the environment. Finally, the respondents' relationship with nature was examined with questions on, for instance, how often they engaged in leisure activities outside, how many trips they had made by plane in the past twelve months, how often they ate meat or meat products, and how often they recycled. data consists of interviews with people who spent their childhood in foster care. In the interviews, the respondents talk extensively about their own childhood memories and life experiences. The interviewees were placed or fostered either in a foster family, children's home, reform school or other child protection institution between 1940 and 1990. First, the interviewees were asked about their early childhood and what kind of family they were born into. They were also asked about their experience of foster care and what they remembered about their first foster placement, as well as what they thought was the reason for the fostering. This was followed by questions about the foster-care placements and foster families and the kind of life the interviewee had lived. There was also an interest in contact with biological parents and also with social services during the foster-care placements and what kind of support the interviewee had received during his or her life. Interviewees were also asked about their experiences after the foster-care placements and about their current life, career and family situation. Finally, the interviewee was asked how he or she felt the foster-care placement had affected his or her life in general. The background data include the interviewee's year of birth within five years, gender, region of residence, education, occupation and information of the different foster-care placements. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.","fi":"Aineisto koostuu lapsuutensa sijaishuollossa viettäneiden haastatteluista. Haastatteluissa haastateltavat kertovat laajasti omista lapsuusmuistoistaan ja elämänkuluistaan. Haastateltavat ovat olleet sijoitettuna tai kasvattina joko sijoitusperheessä, lastenkodissa, koulukodissa tai muussa lastensuojelulaitoksessa vuosien 1940-1990 välillä. Aluksi tiedusteltiin haastateltavien varhaislapsuudesta ja siitä millaiseen perheeseen on syntynyt. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin kokemuksista sijaishuollosta ja siitä, mitä ensimmäisestä sijoituksestaan muistaa sekä toisaalta minkä haastateltava arvelee olleen sijoituksen syynä. Tämän jälkeen oltiin kiinnostuneita sijoituspaikoista- ja perheistä sekä siitä millaista elämää haastateltava on sijoituspaikoissaan elänyt. Lisäksi oltiin kiinnostuneita yhteydenpidosta biologisiin vanhempiin sekä myös sosiaaliviranomaisiin sijoitusten aikana ja siitä, millaista tukea haastateltava on elämänsä aikana saanut. Haastateltavilta tiedusteltiin myös heidän kokemuksistaan sijoitusten jälkeen ja siitä millainen elämä, työura sekä perhetilanne heillä on nyt. Lopussa kysyttiin vielä siitä, miten haastateltava kokee sijoitusten vaikuttaneen elämäänsä yleisellä tasolla. Taustatietoina on mainittu haastateltavan syntymävuosi viiden vuoden tarkkuudella, sukupuoli, asuinlääni, koulutus, ammattiala sekä tiedot eri sijoituspaikoista. First, the respondents were asked about the number of people employed at their workplace and changes in the number of staff in the past 12 months. Further questions covered measures taken to improve employees' capacity to work and safety of work environment. The respondents were asked whether their place of work supported its employees in learning and trying new things, and whether they had taken part in job-related training in the past 12 months and received a salary during that time. Participation in job-related training through different methods (e.g. online, with a mentor, self-study) in the past 12 months was surveyed. The respondents were also asked whether in the past 12 months they had developed their skills and competence so that they could work in a new role in the future, and whether they had received new tasks or responsibilities at their job that had required them to learn new things. The next set of questions focused on flexible working time arrangements at the workplace, pay and bonus systems, satisfaction with the pay level, and digital tools as part of work. Autonomy at work was surveyed by asking about influence over own work tasks and working pace, over the distribution of work in the workplace, and about working to a tight schedule. Remote work was investigated with questions on whether the respondents had worked remotely in the past 12 months and whether they felt they could influence how much remote work they did. The respondents' experiences of working with their manages were examined with questions on, for example, whether they receive feedback from their manager when they succeeded in their work, whether their managed treats employees fairly and equally, and whether their manager is interested in their workplace wellbeing. The use of digital tools, virtual workspaces, and social media services as part of work tasks was also charted. One set of questions investigated the employees' perceived workload, capacity to work, estimates of own mental and physical capacity to work, and sickness absences.
