Tutkijat eivät olleet itse mukana ryhmäkeskusteluissa. Ryhmäkeskustelut dokumentoitiin toimittamalla keskustelijoille nauhuri ja antamalla ohjeistusta sen käyttöön. The study was conducted by the state-owned gambling monopoly company Veikkaus Oy to provide up-to-date information on gambling habits and the extent of problems caused by gambling. First, the respondents were asked whether they had ever gambled, whether they had gambled in the past 12 months and whether they had used Veikkaus or foreign gambling company games. Those who had gambled on foreign websites were asked which service providers they had used and why they had used foreign ones. Next questions charted how often the respondents did certain types of gambling (lottery, online poker, slot machines, gambling onsite in casinos, scratch cards etc.). Problems caused by gambling during the past 12 months were investigated by asking how much money the respondents usually spent on gambling a week, how often they went back another day to win back money lost, claimed to others to be winning money when were in fact losing, or gambled more than they had intended. Other questions explored whether the respondents had felt guilty when gambling, had wanted to stop gambling but hadn't thought they could, had hidden betting slips, documents related to debts and other signs of gambling from important people in their life. Financial consequences were studied with questions focusing on arguments with others over the way the respondents handled money, had these arguments been centered on gambling, had the respondents borrowed money from someone and not paid back because of gambling, had they taken time from work or study to gamble, and had they borrowed or acquired money to gamble or pay gambling debts and from whom or where. Finally, the respondents were asked which types of gambling they felt might cause them problems in managing their gambling. Many questions used in the survey were based on the South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS-R), with some adaptations to Finnish circumstances, as well as the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PSGI) measure, which maps the harms of gambling. First, the respondents were asked whether they had ever gambled, whether they had gambled in the past 12 months and whether they had used Veikkaus or foreign gambling company games. Those who had gambled on foreign websites were asked which service providers they had used and why they had used foreign ones. Next questions charted how often the respondents did certain types of gambling (lottery, online poker, slot machines, gambling onsite in casinos, scratch cards etc.). Problems caused by gambling during the past 12 months were investigated by asking how much money the respondents usually spent on gambling a week, how often they went back another day to win back money lost, claimed to others to be winning money when were in fact losing, or gambled more than they had intended. Other questions explored whether the respondents had felt guilty when gambling, had wanted to stop gambling but hadn't thought they could, had hidden betting slips, documents related to debts and other signs of gambling from important people in their life. Financial consequences were studied with questions focusing on arguments with others over the way the respondents handled money, had these arguments been centered on gambling, had the respondents borrowed money from someone and not paid back because of gambling, had they taken time from work or study to gamble, and had they borrowed or acquired money to gamble or pay gambling debts and from whom or where. Finally, the respondents were asked which types of gambling they felt might cause them problems in managing their gambling. Next questions charted how often the respondents did certain types of gambling (lottery, online poker, slot machines, gambling onsite in casinos, scratch cards etc.) Problems caused by gambling during the past 12 months were investigated by asking how much money the respondents usually spent on gambling a week, how often they went back another day to win back money lost, claimed to others to be winning money when were in fact losing, or gambled more than they had intended. Other questions explored whether the respondents had felt guilty when gambling, had wanted to stop gambling but hadn't thought they could, had hidden betting slips, documents related to debts and other signs of gambling from important people in their life. Financial consequences were studied with questions focusing on arguments with others over the way the respondents handled money, had these arguments been centered on gambling, had the respondents borrowed money from someone and not paid back because of gambling, had they taken time from work or study to gamble, and had they borrowed or acquired money to gamble or pay gambling debts and from whom or where. Finally, the respondents were asked which types of gambling they felt might cause them problems in managing their gambling. survey studied trauma symptoms and psychosocial support received after accidents in Finland. Main themes pertained to the accident situation, injuries suffered, treatment and support received, and persisting trauma symptoms. The Impact of Event Scale -Revised (IES-R) was used to score post-traumatic stress disorder. The initial questions investigated severe pain experienced by the respondent due to a traffic accident or other accident, hospital care received, the respondent's age at the time of the trauma, and how many of individuals involved had needed hospital care. Further questions charted how much pain, helplessness, fear or shame the respondents had experienced at the time of the accident, whether they had feared losing their mobility or other functionality, how many times they had re-experienced the same pain, the extent to which their life had been threatened, and the extent to which medication or other treatment had removed the pain. The IES-R was used to present questions on the occurrence of intrusive thoughts about the accident, avoidance of stimuli associated with it, feelings of watchfulness and anger, physical symptoms caused by reminders of the accident, and signs of heightened irritability, sleep disorders, emotional numbing or lack of concentration. Psychosocial support received was studied with questions relating to discussions with others, peer support, crisis support or therapy received, sufficiency of information from medical staff, and psychological support from people close to the respondent. The respondents were also asked whether they felt that only individuals with same experiences can understand their pain and how easy it was for them to talk about the issue to people close to them. Frequency of meeting friends, relatives or colleagues outside office hours was investigated. Kysely käsittelee tapaturmatilannetta, aiheutuneita vammoja, trauman oireita ja sosiaalista tukea. Kyselyssä traumaperäisen stressihäiriön tunnistamiseen käytetään IES-R-mittaria (The Impact of Event Scale - Revised). Kyselyn alussa vastaajalta kysytään loukkaantumiseen johtaneesta tilanteesta ja tapahtuman aikaisista tuntemuksista. Vastaajalta kysytään muun muassa saadusta hoidosta, tapaturmapaikasta, tapahtuman aikaisista kipukokemuksista ja tunteista. Vastaaja pystyi kertomaan tarkemmin tapaturmasta avokysymyksen avulla. Häneltä tiedustellaan myös, oliko hän ollut hengenvaarassa tapaturmatilanteessa ja montako kertaa sama kipukokemus on toistunut tapaturman jälkeen. Seuraavaksi kyselyssä on IES-R-mittarin kysymykset, joiden avulla pyritään kartoittamaan tapahtuman aiheuttamia mahdollisia posttraumaattisia stressireaktioita, kuten tapahtumien uudelleen läpikäyntiä, välttämiskäyttäytymistä, emotionaalista turtuneisuutta ja ylivirittäytyneisyyttä. Kysymyksissä tiedustellaan erilaisten oireiden yleisyyttä kuluneen viikon aikana ja niihin vastataan viisiluokkaisella asteikolla: 1 ei lainkaan - 5 erittäin paljon. The respondents were people who were working or had worked in Finland and who felt they belonged to a gender minority. Themes of the open-ended questions included the respondent's definition of their gender, potential medical treatment received as part of a transition process, openness towards gender minorities at the workplace and discrimination. The open-ended responses can be connected to the responses in the quantitative data by using the respondent number. Kyselytutkimus toteutettiin keräämällä sukupuolivähemmistöön itsensä samastavilta henkilöiltä tietoa heidän koulutuksestaan ja työhistoriastaan, työelämässä kohtaamastaan syrjinnästä ja työssä viihtymisestä. Kysely kartoitti erityisesti sukupuoli-identiteetin vaikutusta työmarkkinoille osallistumiseen. Tutkimus oli osa Euroopan sosiaalirahaston ja Suomen työministeriön rahoittamaa Equal-hanketta, jonka tavoitteena oli lesbojen, homojen, bi- ja transihmisten työmarkkina-aseman kartoittaminen ja parantaminen. Sukupuoleen liittyen vastaajilta kysyttiin heidän sukupuolensa määrittelystä ja mahdollisista tehdyistä korjaushoidoista ja niiden vaikutuksista työelämässä. Ammatinvalintaa käsiteltiin kysymyksin lapsuuden toiveammatista sekä sukupuolen vaikutuksesta koulutukseen ja uravalintoihin. Lisäksi kartoitettiin vastaajan nykyisen työpaikan suhtautumista esimerkiksi kysymällä, kuinka työpaikalla mahdollisesti saatiin tietää sukupuolivähemmistöön kuulumisesta ja miten vastaaja kokee sukupuoleen liittyvien asioiden salaamisen tai kertomisen työpaikalla. Haastatteluissa käsitellään laajasti omaishoivaa, työelämää, perhettä, sosiaalisia suhteita, vapaa-aikaa, palvelujärjestelmää ja ajatuksia tulevasta. Haastateltavat hoitavat useimmiten vanhempiaan, mutta mukana on myös muita lähisukulaisia hoitavia. Tutkimus on osa kansainvälistä WoCaWo-projektia (Working Carers and Caring Workers: Making Paid Employment and Care Responsibilities Compatible?). Projektin suomenkielinen nimi on: Omaishoito, palkkatyö ja identiteetit: Mitä hoivavelvollisuuksien ja työssäkäynnin yhteensovittaminen edellyttää?. Projektin Suomen ryhmään kuuluvat Jyväskylän yliopisto, Työterveyslaitos ja Kehitysvammaliitto, ja hanketta rahoitettiin Suomen Akatemian Työn- ja hyvinvoinnin tulevaisuus -tutkimusohjelmasta. Haastatteluissa tiedustellaan aluksi haastattelijan antamasta omaishoivasta: kenelle sitä annetaan, milloin hoivasuhde alkoi, miten teki päätöksen auttamisesta ja millaista annettu apu on. Edelleen haastateltavalta kysytään auttamistyössä jaksamisesta ja mahdollisista riittämättömyyden tunteista. Seuraavaksi käsitellään haastattelijan työntekoa ja sen merkitystä elämässä. Kysymyksissä tiedustellaan muun muassa omaishoidon vaikutuksista työntekoon ja työnantajan sekä työtovereiden suhtautumisesta omaishoivan antamiseen. Seuraavaksi haastatteluissa käsitellään hoivan järjestämistä perheessä ja haastateltavan vapaa-ajan viettoa. Haastateltavalta kysytään perheenjäsenten välisistä suhteista, auttamistyön vaikutuksista pari- ja perhe-elämään, lomien vietosta ja harrastuksista. Lisäksi keskustellaan niin hoivattavalle kuin hoitajalle saatavilla olevista sosiaali- ja terveyspalveluista sekä niiden laadusta, saatavuudesta ja riittävyydestä. Lopuksi keskustellaan siitä, millaisena haastateltava näkee tulevaisuuden ja onko omaisen hoito on muuttanut henkilökohtaisia elämänarvoja tai ajatuksia ikääntymisestä. Häneltä tiedustellaan myös mielipidettä yhteiskunnan omaishoitoon suhtautumiseen ja omaishoivaajille kohdistettavaan lakisääteiseen hoitovapaaseen. Lisäksi kysyttiin Pieksämäen kaupungin päätöksentekoa koskevista asioista, kuten päätöksenteon oikeudenmukaisuudesta, päätösvallan jakautumisesta sekä päätösten yksimielisyydestä. Vastaajilta kysyttiin myös Pieksämäkeä koskevaan julkiseen keskusteluun liittyen ajatuksia näkyvyydestä maakunnallisissa ja valtakunnallisissa tiedotusvälineissä sekä paikallislehden luomasta kaupunkikuvasta. People belonging to sexual minorities were asked about their education, work history, workplace and its atmosphere, experiences of discrimination and openness about sexual orientation. The study was part of the EQUAL Initiative funded by the European Social Fund and Ministry of Employment, Finland whose aim was to chart and improve the labour market position of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans people. The respondents were first asked background information such as the orientation of their sexual feelings and thoughts, the orientation of their sexual behaviour, which definition they preferred to use of themselves, to whom they had told about their sexual orientation and how these people had reacted, and whether they had ever moved away from their place of residence because of its negative atmosphere toward sexual minorities. The respondents were asked questions relating to their education and work history such as educational and career choices based on negative or positive attitudes toward sexual minorities in a certain field, total number of years in employment, job changes in the previous five years and whether job change had been affected by negative attitudes toward sexual minorities in the workplace. Relating to the current or latest job the respondents were asked, for example, how long they had had the job, whether they were working part time or full time, whether their contract was permanent or temporary, how many employees there were at the workplace and how many of them women, whether their immediate supervisor was a man or woman and how often they saw their co-workers during their leisure time. Openness about sexual orientation and identity was charted with questions on whether there were other people belonging to sexual minorities at the workplace and whether it mattered to the respondents, how many co-workers and clients, students etc. knew of the respondents' orientation and how people at the workplace had found out about it. Atmosphere at work was investigated with several questions relating to support received at work, expectations of others, conflicts or violence at the workplace, and bullying and harassment. Different kinds of work-related threats perceived by the respondents were examined as well as factors influencing their coping at work (e.g. strict/flexible gender roles, general atmosphere). The final section of the questionnaire focused on discrimination at work. The questions covered discrimination of different groups at the workplace, the respondents' personal experiences of discrimination in different situations and readiness to contact different authorities in case of discrimination. To enable comparisons, some of the questions are the same as in the Quality of work life surveys of Statistics Finland and the annual Finnish Working Life Barometers of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Finland. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's year of birth, gender, mother tongue, nationality, relationship status, province of residence and type of municipality of residence.","fi":"Seksuaalivähemmistöt työelämässä 2003 -tutkimus selvittää seksuaalivähemmistöjen asemaa ja kokemuksia työelämässä. Kysely toteutettiin keräämällä seksuaalivähemmistöjen edustajilta tietoa heidän koulutuksestaan ja työhistoriastaan, työpaikastaan ja sen työilmapiiristä, syrjinnästä sekä avoimuudestaan seksuaalisesta suuntautumisestaan. Tutkimus oli osa Euroopan sosiaalirahaston ja Suomen työministeriön rahoittamaa Equal-hanketta, jonka tavoitteena oli lesbojen, homojen, bi- ja transihmisten työmarkkina-aseman kartoittaminen ja parantaminen. Hankkeen vastuutahona toiminut Helsingin yliopiston Sosiologian laitos teki tutkimuksessa yhteistyötä Stakesin ja SETA ry:n kanssa. Aluksi seksuaalivähemmistöön kuuluvilta kysyttiin taustatietoja heidän iästään, sukupuolestaan, äidinkielestään, etnisyydestään, asuinpaikastaan, seksuaalisesta suuntautumisesta ja käyttäytymisestä sekä heidän seksuaalisesta suuntautumisestaan käyttämästä määrittelystään. Heiltä kysyttiin myös siitä, keille he olivat seksuaalisesta suuntautumisestaan kertoneet ja kuinka nämä henkilöt vastaajan seksuaaliseen suuntautumiseen suhtautuvat. Lisäksi kysymyksiä esitettiin liittyen vastaajan perheeseen ja lapsiin sekä parisuhdetilanteeseen. Seuraavat kysymykset keskittyivät vastaajan koulutukseen ja työhistoriaan. Koulutuksesta kysyttiin vastaajan korkeinta suorittamaa tutkintoa, työn vastaavuutta koulutukseen sekä seksuaalisen suuntautumisen vaikutusta ammatinvalintaan. Työhön liittyen taas vastaajalta kysyttiin muun muassa ammattia, lapsuuden toiveammattia, työmarkkina-asemaa, työssäoloaikaa, ammatin ja työpaikan vaihtuvuutta ja mahdollisen työttömyyden kestoa. Tämän jälkeen keskityttiin vastaajan nykyiseen tai työttömyyttä edeltäneeseen työpaikkaan. Työpaikasta kysyttiin muun muassa sen toimialaa, kokoaikaisuutta, vakinaisuutta, tuloja, työpaikan kokoa ja sukupuolijakaumaa. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin vastaajan avoimuutta seksuaalisesta suuntautumisestaan. Esimerkiksi kysyttiin, tiesikö hän työpaikallaan olevan muita seksuaalivähemmistöihin kuuluvia, sekä sitä, kuinka moni työpaikalla tietää vastaajan seksuaalisesta suuntautumisesta, kuinka he siitä tietävät ja kuinka vastaaja itse kokee suuntautumisensa salaamisen tai siitä kertomisen. Tämän jälkeen esitettiin kysymyksiä työilmapiiristä esimerkiksi väittämin siitä, saako vastaaja työssään tarpeeksi tukea ja arvostusta ja siitä, joutuuko tämä usein työssään riitoihin tai fyysisen väkivallan kohteeksi. Myös työyhteisön suhtautumista seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöihin kysyttiin sekä sitä, esiintyykö työpaikalla näihin piirteisiin liittyvää kiusaamista ja onko vastaaja itse sellaista kokenut. Edelleen kysyttiin vastaajan työssä kokemia uhkia (esim. työuupumus, väkivallan kohteeksi joutuminen) ja työntekijän halua jäädä eläkkeelle jo ennen vanhuusikää. Työssä viihtymistä taas kartoitettiin väittämin siitä millaisten työnsä ominaisuuksien vastaaja kokee lisäävän tai heikentävän työssä viihtymistä. Tiedusteltiin myös tilanteita, joissa vastaaja koki sukupuoleen liittyvän toiminnan rajoitetun työpaikalla. Kysely kartoitti myös työelämässä ilmennyttä ja vastaajan kokemaa syrjintää. Vastaajalta tiedusteltiin myös, kuuluiko tämä ammattiliittoon ja oliko hän ollut tai voisiko olla yhteydessä liittoon tai muihin tahoihin, kuten esimieheensä tai SETA:an, seksuaaliseen suuntautumiseen kohdistuvaa syrjintää kokiessaan.
