Vastaajaa pyydettiin myös ottamaan kantaa useisiin väittämiin, joiden avulla kartoitettiin mielipiteitä Suomesta, Suomen suhteesta muihin maihin, kansainvälistymisestä, maahanmuuttajista sekä siitä, mitä suomalaisuus tarkoittaa. Lisäksi kysyttiin onko vastaaja Suomen kansalainen, olivatko hänen vanhempansa hänen syntymähetkellään Suomen kansalaisia, pitäisikö Suomessa syntyneiden lasten saada Suomen kansalaisuus, pitäisikö suomalaisen vanhemman ulkomailla syntyneen lapsen saada Suomen kansalaisuus, tulisiko laillisten maahanmuuttajien saada samat oikeudet kuin Suomen kansalaisilla on ja tulisiko Suomen ryhtyä voimakkaampiin toimiin laittoman maahanmuuton estämiseksi. Lopuksi tiedusteltiin vielä kuinka ylpeä vastaaja on siitä, että on suomalainen ja mitä kieltä vastaajan kotona useimmiten puhutaan. Euroopan yhdentymiseen liittyen kysyttiin kuinka paljon vastaaja tietää Euroopan unionista, hyötyykö Suomi vastaajan mielestä EU:n jäsenyydestä, pitääkö Suomen noudattaa EU:n päätöksiä vaikka olisikin niistä eri mieltä, pitäisikö EU:lla olla enemmän tai vähemmän valtaa kuin kansallisilla hallituksilla ja jos nyt järjestettäisiin kansanäänestys EU-jäsenyydestä, äänestäisikö vastaaja jäsenyyden vai eroamisen puolesta. Respondents were asked which groups are important to them in describing who they are. Pertaining to national identity, respondents were asked how close they felt to their municipality of residence, region, Finland and Europe. Views were probed on which things are important for being Finnish. Feelings of solidarity towards Finland were assessed. Respondents evaluated the degree of national pride they feel towards Finland's accomplishments in the following areas: democracy, international political influence, economic achievements, social security, science and technology, sports, arts and literature, armed forces, history, equality. The survey carried a set of attitudinal questions relating to Finland's relations to other countries, free trade, the power of international bodies, purchase of land by foreigners, national programs and films on television, and the Internet. Some statements charted respondents' opinions on whether ethnic and racial minorities should preserve their own customs and traditions. Attitudes towards immigrants and immigration were also studied. Respondents' citizenship and the citizenship of their parents were surveyed. One theme pertained to who should have the right to Finnish citizenship. Overall national pride, and languages spoken at home were charted. EU issues were studied by asking how much respondents know about the European Union, and does Finland benefit from its membership, should the country comply with EU decisions even when in disagreement, should EU have more power than the national governments, and whether respondents would vote for or against Finland's membership at that moment. Vastaajilta pyydettiin tietoja vanhempien ammateista vastaajan ollessa 15-vuotias. Heitä pyydettiin mm. vertaamaan onko heidän oma ammattiasemansa korkeampi vai matalampi kuin isän ammattiasema oli. Lisäksi kysyttiin vanhempien ammatteja sekä millaisen työnantajan palveluksessa vanhemmat työskentelivät. Vastaajan omaa työskentelyä kartoitettiin kysymällä ensimmäisen työnantajan toimialaa sekä vastaajan ammattia ensimmäisessä työpaikassa. Nykyisestä työstä tiedusteltiin työnantajan tyyppiä ja vastaajan nykyistä ammattia. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös kuinka oikeudenmukaiseksi he kokevat palkkansa. Vastaajille esitettiin viisi erilaista yhteiskunnan hierarkiaa kuvaavaa kuviota ja heitä pyydettiin sanomaan, mikä kuvioista vastaa eniten tilannetta Suomessa ja millainen tilanteen heidän mielestään pitäisi olla. The first questions dealt with law and the justice systems. The respondents were asked whether they thought that people should obey the law without exception and whether they thought it is worse to convict an innocent person or to let a guilty person go free. The respondents were also asked about ways in which people or organisations should be permitted to protest against the government and what rights should be allowed for political extremists. Views on government's possible economic measures were probed. The respondents' were asked if they were in favour or against certain measures, such as \"cuts in government spending\" and \"reducing the working week to create more jobs\". Next, the respondents were presented with a list of government spending areas. They were asked whether they would like to see the government spend more or less money on areas such as health, the police and law enforcement, and education. Furthermore, views on government responsibilities such as \"keeping prices under control\" or \"providing health care for the sick\" were investigated. The respondents' attitudes on who should provide services, such as health care for the sick, care for the elderly, or education for children, were charted. The options included government, private companies, non-profit organisations, religious organisations, and family. Perceptions of which people and organisations have the most influence on government actions in Finland were investigated. Views on civil liberties and public security were studied with questions about government surveillance of private persons. Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin, tulisiko kotiin vastasyntynyttä lasta hoitamaan jäävän vanhemman saada palkallista perhevapaata, kuinka monta kuukautta, kenen tulisi vastata perhevapaan kustannuksista ja kuinka vapaa tulisi jakaa vanhempien kesken. Lisäksi kysyttiin kuinka vanhempien tulisi järjestää perhe-elämänsä perheessä, jossa on alle kouluikäisiä lapsia. Kysyttiin myös kenen tulisi ensisijaisesti tarjota päivähoito alle kouluikäisille lapsille ja kenen tulisi vastata hoidon kustannuksista. Samoin kysyttiin kenen tulisi vastata iäkkäille tarjottavasta avusta ja sen kustannuksista. Kotitöiden työnjakoon liittyvät kysymykset osoitettiin avo- tai avioliitossa oleville. Kysyttiin montako tuntia viikossa vastaaja ja puoliso käyttävät kotitöihin ja perheenjäsenistä huolehtimiseen. Heiltä tiedusteltiin myös kuka huolehtii perheen raha-asioista ja kuka perheessä hoitaa pyykinpesun, pienet korjaustyöt, ruokaostokset, sairastuneista perheenjäsenistä huolehtimisen, siivoamisen ja ruoan laittamisen. Edelleen kysyttiin kuinka oikeudenmukainen työnjako on ja kuinka usein perheessä on erimielisyyttä kotitöiden jakamisesta. Lisäksi kysyttiin kuka yleensä päättää lasten kasvatuksesta, viikonlopun viettämisestä tai kodin suurista hankinnoista. Kaikilta vastaajilta kysyttiin onko heidän elämänsä stressaavaa kotona tai töissä ja onko vastaaja ollut ansio- tai kotitöiden vuoksi uupunut viimeisen kolmen kuukauden aikana. Lisäksi kysyttiin kuinka onnellinen vastaaja kaiken kaikkiaan on ja kuinka tyytyväinen hän on työhönsä ja perhe-elämäänsä. Vastaajia pyydettiin myös arvioimaan omaa terveydentilaansa. Perheen ja työn yhteensovittamiseen liittyen kysyttiin myös onko vastaaja tai hänen puolisonsa työskennellyt kodin ulkopuolella kun perheessä oli alle kouluikäinen lapsi tai sen jälkeen kun nuorin lapsi oli aloittanut koulunkäynnin. Lisäksi kysyttiin kävikö vastaajan äiti ansiotyössä vastaajan ollessa lapsi ja kuka perheessä yleensä päättää lasten kasvatuksesta. Taustamuuttujia olivat mm. vastaajan sukupuoli, ikä, siviilisääty, koulutus, ammatti, ammattiasema, ammattiliiton jäsenyys, poliittinen asennoituminen, yhteiskuntaluokka, bruttotulot, asuinpaikkakunnan tyyppi, asuinmaakunta ja puolison ammatti sekä kotitalouden tulot, henkilömäärä ja ikärakenne.","en":"The survey charted Finnish views on family and family roles, work and division of labour. The respondents were asked to what extent they agreed with statements about working women and the roles of men and women in the family, the importance of marriage, parenting capabilities of single parents and same-sex couples, and the importance of children to parents. Opinions on the ideal number of children in a family were investigated. Views on paid parental leave (its length, who should be responsible for its costs and how it should be divided between the mother and father) were examined as well as opinions on the responsibilities of the mother and father in terms of work and childcare. Similar questions were asked about the home help services for the elderly. Number of hours per week spent on chores and taking care of family members by the respondents were charted. Tiredness resulting from work, chores or family duties was investigated as well as self-perceived general health and satisfaction in work, family life and life in general. Käsityksiä oikeusjärjestelmästä kartoitettiin kysymällä, kumpi on vastaajan mielestä pahempi, viattoman tuomitseminen vai syyllisen vapaaksi päästäminen. Talouspolitiikkaa kartoitettiin kysymällä millaisia talouspoliittisia toimenpiteitä vastaajat kannattavat ja millaisia vastustavat. Lisäksi kysyttiin mitä julkisia menoja pitäisi lisätä ja mitä vähentää. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin millaisista asioista julkisen vallan pitäisi olla vastuussa ja kuinka hallitus onnistuu nykyisin erilaisissa sille kuuluvissa tehtävissä. Terrorismia käsiteltiin kysymällä millaisiin toimiin viranomaisilla pitäisi olla oikeus, jos he epäilisivät jonkin terroriteon olevan tekeillä. Verotusta koskevassa kysymyksessä kysyttiin, millaisina vastaajat pitivät verojen määrää suuri-, pieni- ja keskituloisille. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös, kuinka usein heitä pyydetään vaikuttamaan tärkeissä päätöksissä joidenkin eduksi ja tuntevatko vastaajat sellaisia henkilöitä, joita he voivat pyytää vaikuttamaan omaksi edukseen tärkeissä päätöksissä. Kysyttiin myös kuinka usein vastaajat kokevat viranomaisten toimineen oikeudenmukaisesti kaltaisiaan ihmisiä kohtaan ja riippuuko ihmisten viranomaisilta saama kohtelu siitä, keitä nämä ihmiset tuntevat. Korruptiota käsiteltiin kysymällä kuinka monet suomalaispoliitikot ja virkamiehet sekä EU:n poliitikot ja virkamiehet ovat vastaajan mielestä sekaantuneet siihen. Lisäksi kysyttiin onko vastaaja tai hänen perheensä jäsen viimeisten viiden vuoden aikana kohdannut viranomaisen, joka on vihjannut haluavansa tai pyytänyt lahjusta tai suosionosoitusta vastineeksi jostakin palvelusta. Suomen taloutta käsiteltiin kysymällä millaista Suomen yhteiskunnallinen ja taloudellinen kehitys on ollut viimeisten viiden vuoden aikana ja kuka on pääasiallisesti vastuussa tällaisesta kehityksestä. Euroopan unionin asioita käsiteltiin kysymällä millä ryhmillä on liikaa tai liian vähän vaikutusvaltaa Euroopan unionin asioihin Brysselissä. Lisäksi kysyttiin onko vastaajan mielestä asiallista, että yritysten ja erilaisten edunvalvontaryhmien valtuuttamat edustajat pyrkivät vaikuttamaan Brysselissä suoraan Euroopan unionin politiikkaan. Tutkimuksessa tiedusteltiin myös vastaajien käsityksiä EU:n maataloustuesta ja esitettiin väittämiä EU:n päätöksenteosta. Kysyttiin myös kuinka paljon Euroopan parlamentin jäsen voi vaikuttaa Euroopan unionin politiikkaan ja päätöksiin sekä sitä, miten kansalaisten tietämystä Euroopan unionin päätöksistä ja toimenpiteistä voitaisiin lisätä. Vastaajilta tiedusteltiin myös heidän mielipidettään Euroopan parlamenttiin valittujen edustajien palkkojen ja kulukorvauksien suuruudesta. Taustatietoina kysyttiin mm. sukupuoli, syntymävuosi, kotitalouden koko, koulutus, työelämään osallistuminen, ammatti, elinkeino tai toimiala, säännöllinen viikoittainen työaika, ammattiasema, esimiesasema, työnantaja (yksityinen/julkinen sektori), ammattiliiton jäsenyys, äänestyskäyttäytyminen, uskonnollisuus, tulot sekä vastaajan asuinaluetta kuvaavia tietoja.","en":"The year 2006 survey examined Finnish attitudes towards government officials and decision makers, and what is right and wrong in society. Respondents’ opinions on taxation and prevention of terrorism were also probed. First, the respondents were asked whether people must obey the law without exception, whether protests against government should be allowed, and what kind of protests these could be. The respondents also gave their opinions on what kind of acts should be allowed for extremists who want to overthrow the government by revolution. Views on legal system were charted by asking respondents to decide which is worse: convicting an innocent person, or letting a guilty person go free. One topic pertained to economic policy. The respondents were asked what kind of economic policy measures they supported or opposed. Opinions were gathered on increasing and decreasing government spending, responsibilities of government officials, and whether the current government was successful in different areas. Questions related to terrorism included what kind of measures the authorities should have the right to take, if they suspected that a terrorist act was being planned. Some questions covered low, medium, and high income taxation. The respondents were also asked how often they were asked to help influence important decisions in other people's favour, and whether they knew people who could be asked to do the same for them. Opinions were explored on fairness of public officials and corruption. Further questions covered whether the respondents or their family members had come across a public official who had hinted he/she wanted, or had asked for, a bribe or favour in return for a service in the last five years. The national section of the questionnaire (questions 52-67) investigated views on Finnish economy by asking what kind of social and economic developments had taken place in Finland in the last five years, and who was mainly responsible for these developments. The respondents were also asked whether they thought it to be pertinent that authorised representatives of various companies and lobbying groups directly attempt to influence EU policy making in Brussels. Attitudes towards EU farming subsidies and EU decision making were also charted. It was examined which occupations people in the respondents' social networks represented, and the respondents were asked questions about income disparity as well as who should provide geriatric and healthcare services. Next, the respondents were presented with a set of situations that they could face in their lives and asked who they could seek for help in these situations. After this, the survey enquired whether the respondents felt that people could be trusted or if they would try to take advantage of them. Suomen talouden suojelemista, ympäristön saastumista, Suomen omista eduista huolehtimista ja ulkomaalaisten maanosto-oikeutta. Esitettiin myös väittämiä monikansallisista yhtiöistä, vapaakaupasta sekä kansainvälisistä organisaatioista ja järjestöistä. Useat väittämät käsittelivät erilaisia rodullisia ja etnisiä ryhmiä, maahanmuuttajia sekä heidän kulttuuriaan ja tapojaan. Vastaajilta kysyttiin kuinka ylpeitä he olivat suomalaisuudestaan ja esitettiin väittämiä, jotka käsittelivät vahvojen isänmaallisten tunteiden vaikutuksia. Kysyttiin myös onko vastaaja Suomen kansalainen ja olivatko hänen vanhempansa vastaajan syntyessä Suomen kansalaisia. Ensimmäisen aallon kyselyssä tiedusteltiin esimerkiksi vastaajien mielipiteitä ja ajatuksia heidän kouluihinsa, luokkiin ja opettajiin liittyen sekä käytettyihin opetustapoihin yhteiskuntaopin tunneilla. Lisäksi tiedusteltiin vastaajien kuulumisen tunnetta erilaisiin ihmisryhmiin. Tämän jälkeen pyydettiin arvioimaan omia taitoja erilaisilla yhteiskunnallisilla ja poliittisilla osa-alueilla sekä tiedusteltiin millaisia valmiuksia yhteiskuntaopin opetus on antanut näihin aihealueisiin. Myös kiinnostuneisuutta ja ymmärrystä politiikasta kysyttiin sekä omia koettuja vaikutusmahdollisuuksia. Tämän jälkeen esitettiin joukko vastaajan omaan elämään ja yhteiskunnallisiin asioihin liittyviä väittämiä sekä tiedusteltiin osallistuneisuutta erilaisiin ryhmiin tai järjestöihin ja muihin pyrkimyksiin vaikuttaa yhteiskunnallisiin asioihin. Edelleen tiedusteltiin mitä asioita vastaajat näkevät tärkeäksi tehdä aikuisena sekä tiedusteltiin tulevaa äänestysaktiivisuutta vastaajan täytettyä 18-vuotta. Lisäksi kysyttiin mistä vastaaja saa tietoa poliittisista ja yhteiskunnallisista asioista ja tiedusteltiin vielä ajatuksia liittyen ilmastonmuutokseen. Lopuksi pyydettiin arvioimaan omien huoltajien poliittisia näkemyksiä sekä missä määrin erilaiset tahot ovat vaikuttaneet vastaajan käsityksiin politiikasta ja yhteiskunnasta. Toinen aalto kerättiin kaksi vuotta ensimmäisen aallon jälkeen ja tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten vastaajien asenteet ovat kahden vuoden aikana kehittyneet. The data was collected as part of the project \"Education, Political Efficacy and Informed Citizenship (EPIC)\", funded by the Academy of Finland and The Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. The first wave of the survey asked, for example, respondents' opinions and thoughts about their schools, classes and teachers, and the teaching methods used in civic education classes. In addition, respondents were asked about their sense of belonging to different groups of people. They were then asked to assess their own skills in different social and political areas and to rate the skills they had acquired in civic education classes in these areas. Interest in and understanding of politics was also asked, as well as their own perceived level of influence. This was followed by a series of questions relating to the respondent's own life and social issues, and questions about participation in various groups or organizations and other efforts to influence social issues were asked. Further questions were asked about the things respondents see as important to do as an adult and about future voting activity after the age of 18. The question also asked where respondents get information on political and social issues and asked about their thoughts on climate change. Catalysts with varying Cu loadings (0.5–1.0 wt%), framework compositions (SiO2/Al2O3 = 23 and 30), and thermal treatment (intact CuPc vs. calcined) were evaluated. Qualitative kinetic analysis was performed through the quantification of the products over time (0–4 h) by HPLC, 1H NMR, and potentiometric titration. X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) established that the CuPc macrocycle remains structurally intact after incorporation into the zeolite (Cu-N distance 1.94 Å, coordination number ∼4.4), while calcination leads to complete macrocycle decomposition and formation of isolated Cu2+-2Z framework species, as confirmed by XANES, UV-Vis-diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and H2-TPR. Elemental mapping by HAADF-STEM demonstrated that copper is homogeneously dispersed throughout the zeolite. Calcination significantly improved catalytic performance. The catalyst 1CuPc-ZSM-5–30-DS-Calc (Cu/Al molar ratio = 0.17) achieved a CH3OH productivity of 553 μmol gcat 􀀀 1 h􀀀 1 and 47% selectivity at isoconversion (0.1%), corresponding to a methanol yield of 4.3 molCH3OH molCu -1 h-1, surpassing many recent reported phthalocyanine-based systems for DOMTM. An even higher methanol yield of 8.0 molCH3OH molCu -1 h-1 was obtained over 0.5CuPc-ZSM-5–30-DS-Calc (Cu/Al molar ratio = 0.09). The Brønsted to Lewis acid site (BAS/\r\nLAS) ratio and Brønsted acid site density were identified as key descriptors of CH3OH selectivity and productivity. Kyselyssä tarkasteltiin kulttuuriperinnön merkitystä, säilyttämistä, vastuuta, osallistumista sekä kulttuuriperinnön yhteiskunnallista roolia nykyhetkessä ja tulevaisuudessa. Kyselyn alussa kartoitettiin vastaajien tuntemusta kulttuuriperintöön ja kulttuuriympäristöön liittyvistä käsitteistä kysymällä, kuinka tuttuja käsitteet olivat ja millaisia asioita ne toivat vastaajien mieleen. Lisäksi selvitettiin, mitä merkityksiä, mielikuvia ja ilmiöitä vastaajat liittivät kulttuuriperintöön ja kulttuuriympäristöön. Tämän jälkeen kartoitettiin kulttuuriperinnön koettua tärkeyttä ja merkitystä pyytämällä vastaajia arvioimaan erilaisia väittämiä. Kysymyksissä tarkasteltiin muun muassa sitä, kuinka tärkeänä kulttuuriperintöä pidettiin omassa elämässä ja perheessä sekä millainen merkitys sillä koettiin olevan identiteetille. Seuraavaksi kartoitettiin näkemyksiä kulttuuriperinnön säilyttämisestä ja suojelusta pyytämällä vastaajia arvioimaan kulttuuriperintöön liittyviä väittämiä ja ottamaan kantaa siihen, mitä kulttuuriperinnön eri osa-alueita pidettiin tärkeinä vaalia. Kysymykset koskivat muun muassa rakennettua ympäristöä, taidetta, kieltä, tapoja, perinteitä sekä muuta aineellista ja aineetonta kulttuuriperintöä. Samalla selvitettiin vastaajien näkemyksiä kulttuuriperinnön yhteydestä hyvinvointiin, kestävään kehitykseen, koulutukseen, matkailuun, ympäristöön ja yhteiskunnalliseen päätöksentekoon. Aineistossa tarkasteltiin myös vastuuta kulttuuriperinnöstä huolehtimisesta sekä siihen liittyvää rahoitusta ja osallistumista. Vastaajilta kysyttiin eri toimijoiden, kuten yksilöiden, yhteisöjen, yritysten, viranomaisten ja julkisen vallan roolista kulttuuriperinnön vaalimisessa. Lisäksi selvitettiin kokemuksia kulttuuriperintöä koskevan tiedon saatavuudesta, omasta osallistumisesta sekä mahdollisuuksista siirtää kulttuuriperintöä tuleville sukupolville. Lopuksi vastaajia pyydettiin kertomaan heille merkityksellisestä kulttuuriperinnöstä sekä esittämään näkemyksiään tulevaisuuden kulttuuriperinnöstä. Questions covered, among other topics, physical, mental and dental health, health-related behaviour, use of health services, and satisfaction with health services. Factors related to the ability to study and well-being, such as social relationships and income, were also examined. First, the respondents were asked about their sense of safety, confidence in the future, and ability to cope in crisis situations. General state of health was charted with a number of questions relating to long-term illnesses, disabilities or disorders, and current well-being in general. Birth control methods used by the respondent and her/his partner within the previous 12 months were surveyed. Some questions covered the respondents' weight, height, state of mind and attitude toward food. Use of healthcare services by different types of service providers and satisfaction with the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) were surveyed, along with reasons for using the services of other healthcare service providers. Time spent sitting during the day as well as engagement in sporting activities and less vigorous physical activities were surveyed. Eating habits were investigated with a number of questions, for instance, asking whether the respondents ate at student restaurants, what diet they followed, on how many days per week they ate certain meals or snacks (e.g. breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner), and the consumption of fruit and vegetables. The respondents were also asked how often they brushed or flossed their teeth and used toothpaste or xylitol products, and whether they had problems with teeth grinding, facial pain or jaw locking. Health-related behaviour was further studied by asking the respondents about their use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco products (amount, frequency), as well as internet use and gambling. Internet use was examined by asking if it had caused problems with their circadian rhythm, studying or relationships. Questions also covered gambling and possible problems caused by it. The survey also studied interpersonal relationships and financial circumstances. The respondents were asked about their household composition and living arrangements, partnerships, sexual orientation, use of contraception, whether they felt lonely or part of a group, and whether they had someone close to them with whom they could discuss their affairs. The respondents were asked to evaluate their financial situation and how well they had managed financially over the previous 12 months. The respondents' participation in paid work during the academic year was also surveyed, and they were asked how working had affected their studies. Views on family life were examined with questions on whether the respondents would like to have children in the future and when, and if not at the moment, why (e.g. their studies not being finished, being too young, financial situation, wanting to pursue a career). Those respondents who already had children were asked about how having a child had impacted their life (e.g. improvement in relationship with spouse, financial situation worsened, progressing with studies became harder). Indicator variables created by the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare and based on some original survey variables are included in the data. survey focused on violence against children and adolescents in Finland, surveying different forms and manifestations of violence. The respondents were sixth grade (12-13 year olds) and ninth grade (15-16 year olds) pupils in schools. The main themes in the survey were experiences of crime (such as robberies, thefts, threats, assaults and domestic violence), sibling and peer victimisation, sexual violence, harassment and threats via the internet and cyber-bullying. Data collection was carried out during a class. Compared to the previous data collection in 2013, the section measuring violence in digital environments in particular was revised. First, the respondents were asked about their home, family structure, relationships with family and friends, health, any experience of substance abuse, leisure activities and hobbies. They were also asked about any inappropriate behaviour, such as hitting, intimidating, encouraging sexual activity or offering intoxicants, which may have been initiated by the instructor or coach of the recreational activity. So-called conventional crime was charted by asking whether the respondents had been subjected to robbery, theft, vandalism, assault or attempted assault, threats, how often, whether they had told anyone, and whether they had suffered any injuries. Further questions dealt with the scene of the crime and the perpetrator's identity, including his/her sex, age, and ethnicity. Sibling and peer violence was studied with questions about assault, and physical and emotional bullying. Regarding witnessing violence against family members, the respondents were asked whether they had seen or heard their mother, father or sibling being verbally or physically abused (e.g. hit with a fist or an item, attacked with a knife) or threatened with violence at home, and who the perpetrator had been, how old the respondent had been when the (first) incident had occurred, and whether the victim had sustained visible injuries or injuries that required professional treatment. Another question investigated whether a family member had been verbally or physically abused, threatened with violence etc. in public. Parents' means of approaching a conflict situation with the respondent were charted (e.g. sulking, insulting, threatening with violence, spanking on the bottom, kicking). Relating to sexual activity with adults (or people at least five years older), the respondents were asked, among other things, whether they had experienced sexual advances from or been in sexual contact with adults, what had happened (e.g. sexual propositions, fondling, exposure of genitals), how old they had been, whether the respondent had known the adult, which of them had initiated the activity, whether coercion, violence, gifts or alcohol were involved, whether the respondent viewed the situation as sexual abuse, and whether the respondent had told anyone about the incident and if not, why. In addition, ninth-grade respondents were asked about sexual experiences, such as first kisses, dating and sex, with peers. Professionals in social and health services recorded information on every client or patient who used the services on that day while intoxicated or because of some harm, such as an injury, relating to substance use, or were assessed by an employee to be a substance abuser. First, the substances the client had used (e.g. alcohol, cannabis, cocaine) as well as whether they had injected any drugs were charted. The occurrence of threatening or violent behaviour by the client in the social welfare or health care facility was examined, and mental health problems unrelated to substance use as well as gambling problems were surveyed. Next, the questionnaire contained some questions directed only at either outpatient care clients (questions 15-21) or inpatient care clients (questions 22-23). The questions aimed at outpatient care clients focused on, for example, whether they had made an appointment beforehand, what services were provided to them (e.g. advice, clinical procedure, therapeutic discussion) and the time used on the services. The questions aimed at inpatient care (overnight care) clients examined the length of the client's continuous treatment at the time of data collection (e.g. 1-3 days, over a month, 6-12 months) and the reason why the services required by the client were not provided as outpatient care (e.g. seriousness of injury, mental illness, preventing domestic violence).
